And it’s going to start here with this matchup between the Arizona Diamondbacks and the St. Louis Cardinals. The Arizona Diamondbacks sending out Ryan Nelson for the start in this one while the St. Louis Cardinals will counter with Sunny Gray. Now they were going back and forth. the Cardinals were if they were going to start Sunny Gray on Friday against the Diamondbacks, but they decided to opt for Andre Palante who Sunny Gray is Saturday. And the problem for me with Sunny Gray is that he’s actually pitched much better at home, which doesn’t bode well for him here with a 4.57 erra. Last time we saw Sunny Gray on the road, it was six and a third innings. Gave up five hits, four runs in a loss to the Pittsburgh Pirates as the Cardinals were shut out in that entire series and lost five to nothing. Now, the Cardinals have been able to win a lot of Sunny Gay starts this season as he is 9 and3 Sunny Gray and the 3.50 erra top 20 in strikeouts this season with 118. So, think he could have some decent numbers here. The problem is is that he’s facing a Diamondback’s lineup that historically this season and continues to be one of the stronger lineups in baseball when it comes to facing right-handed pitching this season. Now, in the month of July, maybe not the strongest of numbers, but their isolated power numbers continue to be solid. The team OPS numbers are still really good. They have a high walk rate of 11.9% which is the highest in baseball in the month of July. So I think the the Diamondbacks could take some good at bats here, get to Sunny Gray for a couple runs, maybe get to a Cardinals bullpen that has had its issues at times this season and in the month of July as a 450 staff erra. So I I’m looking at the Diamondbacks here. On the other side, you got Ryan Nelson, who has been a hard pitcher for me at times to figure out is he more of the bullpen arm, the the starter that got shifted back to the bullpen, or is he going to be back, you know, as more of a uh a starting pitching option. I mean, his last two starts at home have been outstanding. 13 and two/3 innings combined, three runs allowed on nine hits combined, 12 strikeouts, no walks, a 2.17 home erra, and a sub one whip at Chase Field this season as well. I think Ryan Nelson’s still a very solid option for the Diamondbacks. The Cardinals, you know, like I said, they’ve been a team that that continues to run hot and cold. You know, they have a low walk rate, high walk, excuse me, low strikeout rate, high walk rate themselves this season in the month of July, hitting 250 against righties, which is just outside the top 10 in baseball. But, you know, if you look at the numbers for the Cardinals on the road over that stretch, the numbers start to dip a little bit to 228. a lot of their best work has been done at home, not just in the month of July, but overall this season. You go to Chase Field. I think the Diamondbacks just have an edge here just across the board. And while I don’t think that the bullpen erra, which in the month of July sits at 2.63 for the Arizona Diamondbacks, I don’t think that’s sustainable. I think it’s going to be enough here for the Diamondbacks to separate themselves and get themselves a win in this matchup. So, I’m going to roll with the Diamondbacks and this one on the money line, and that’s going to be my free pick.
