Miami Dolphins Fans Got EXCITING News On Jaylen Waddle & Tua Tagovailoa
[Music] Dolphins fans, you should be excited by what these two could potentially be as a duo, but what Jaylen Wadd specifically said about Numero Uno to a tongue of Aloa. I am Nick Rolloff. This is Dolphins today by chat sports. And when you think about these two, you were thinking about the future of the Dolphins at least hopefully, right? Like Tua is in that 26 27 age range. Jaylen Wadd is in that 26 age range. And you are hopefully going to have that be your QB1 wide receiver one connection. And both of them had a pretty down 2024 season after having really really good 2023 seasons. and in Jaylen Wadd’s case being really really solid for the entire part of his career. And I can’t wait to talk about what Wadd had to say. But I do want to spread the message of Dolphins today here and get our videos out to more people. So could you help us out by sharing the show? You can do it by posting on Facebook, text it to a friend, uh Twitter. If you click on post it out to Twitter, you could tag me nick_rolloff. First five people to share this video on Twitter and tag me get a shout out on a show in the next couple of days. But I do want to talk about how Jaylen Waddle sung the praise of RQB1 to a tongue of Aloa. And I know some Dolphins fans feel a certain type of way on uh Tua. I get it. There’s been a lot of things not to like, but when your wide receiver one feels that good about Tua, your supposed QB one, you just got to be excited and happy about that. Waddle specifically said on Tua, that he’s just excited to play, man. I think all of us are. He looks confident coming out with a different swag. He’s got dye in his hair and some other stuff. He looks like he’s just eager to play, man. And that that’s music to my ears because this is a massive year for Tua. It is. And I feel like I said that last year, but it really wasn’t. And maybe I did say it, maybe I didn’t say it. I’m having a hard time remembering right now. But like I think I said it was important last year because it’s like first year of his after he got extended, you want to ball out and show that it was worth it. But this one is really important because with how the Tuo Tongavaloa contract is structured, the Miami Dolphins could get out of his deal following the 2026 season, which means he’s going to be in Miami the next two years, but there’s nothing guaranteed in the last two years of his deal. So, if he does not play well in the first year of his contract year or his new contract, well, then you’re probably going to start making plans to maybe move on from him. And that’s the issue, right, with Tua. It’s always about if he could stay on the football field. The one season that he was able to stay on the field and play all 17 games, he led the league in passing with 4,600 yards. And it’s just like, all right, we have a guy that completed 69% of his passes, threw for 4,600 yards, and helped the Dolphins win double digit games and get to a playoff spot. that that is extensionw worthy. But being hurt all the time and having a down year in 2024, well, that makes a lot of Dolphins fans get nervous of Tua his future in the 305. And it’s like to me, I am more or less concerned about his ability to stay on the football field because when you’re talking about investing into a quarterback long term, like you are more or less just hoping they’re on the field. Like if they’re on the field and terrible, at least you know what you have, right? And you could say, “All right, that was a bad investment. We clearly mis like evaluated this player.” But if he can’t stay, it’s like, “What if? What if? What if?” And here’s the thing, and here’s another if. If Tua can’t play 15 games or more this season, so he misses three games or more. I’ll allow two games missed. I’ll allow two. he misses three or more, you have to look to draft a QB in the NFL draft because you just can’t keep on going in circles of all right, two will miss his time. Can he stay healthy? We’re changing his offseason regiment and diet to keep him more likely to stay on the field. And like I mentioned, like because you can get out of that contract in 20 after 2026, like if he misses time, draft a QB, have that drafted QB sit behind Tua for a year, then you can have that drafted QB, be ready to roll in 2027, and Tua is no longer your QB1. That’s why it gives you flexibility. And if Tua doesn’t prove that he can be your QB1 this year, Miami is probably going to start making the necessary moves to find a new QB1 of the future. So what is your confidence level in Tua for the 2025 campaign? Scale one to 10. Pin comment on today’s show, so let me know. One through 10 confidence level in Tua. I have a hard time with Tua because I feel like I defend him to a degree. I feel like I support him, but so do his teammates. Wadd loves him. You see some of these other guys stand up for Tua. Terron Armstead loves him. John Smith loved him. NFL players respect Tua. They voted him in the top 100 players in the National Football League the past couple years. Like, can he just go out and prove it to the fan base, please? Like, and the issue is like, I don’t know how much he does have to prove. It really is just staying on the football field because when Tua starts games for the Miami Dolphins, they’re 38 and 24. That’s pretty damn good. And when I say pretty damn good, that’s freaking unbelievably good. that he just misses so much time. So, it’s like if he can just play 15, 16, 17 games, we got our QB1, man. I believe that. I really do. Sat Tua, please prove to me and prove to the fan base that 2023 wasn’t a fluke and now you can have two out of three seasons playing 17 games or more and 2024 was actually the anomaly going forward in your career. Coming up in a little bit here, we’re going to talk about Jaylen Wadd, the wide receiver one who I think is in line for a bounceback year. But before we talk about Jaylen, I want to make sure you subscribe because here at Dolphins Today, we have daily content. And when the season rolls around in September, we’re going to be here bringing you two videos every day, as well as going live on Sundays, Thursdays, Mondays for a Dolphins football game. So subscribe, join the channel today because we’re a family here at Dolphins today by Chat Sports. Jaylen Wadd after having the worst year of his career in 2024, I think is in line for a major bounceback season for the Fits. I do. And I think he needs to have a solid 2025 as well because we’ve talked in depth about how this is going to be Tyreek Hill’s last season with the Miami Dolphins just based off his contract and cap situation and Wadd needs to prove that he is your wide receiver one of the future. like he’s had a really good career to this point. This past season was the only year that he did not reach the thousand yard threshold and I know it was a tough year with two missing six games and you having to deal with Tyler Huntley and Tim Bole and Skyler Thompson, but it was just an overall down year for the offense in whole, right? It was not a top half offense in the National Football League. Tyreek Hill didn’t even reach a thousand yards. He got close. He was in the n high 900s, but he didn’t get to a thousand. So, it was just a down year for everybody involved with the offense. And I hope that we can just look back and say that was just a throwaway year. But when it comes specifically to Jaylen, he is the future wide receiver one. Tyreek Hill’s got two years left on his contract, 2025 and 2026. But in 2026, his cap hit is 52 million. And if you cut him prior to June 1st, you save $36 million in space. So spoiler alert, Tyrie kills on the Dolphins in 2026. So then you would be then moving forward with Jaylen Wadd as your pure wide receiver one. And I think Miami is going to start prioritizing Wadd in the offense. They will be starting to run more pass design plays to get Wadd open. So I need him to prove that he can be your wide receiver one. And one thing that I need him to prove to me and just improve as a whole is his hands. He has struggled actually and despite having good production, he has had a lot of drop issues. You look in every year of his career is drop percentage. And that is where it ranked amongst NFL wide receivers out of players that have received at least 20% of the most targets players in the NFL. So what does that mean? 100 targets. you at least had 20. But the point is Wid is not ranked high at all. Not even top two wide receiver. But I will say the top wide receivers usually have more drops, have a higher drop percentage because they are targeted. Like CD Lamb is in the bottom half of qualified wide receivers and drop percentage because he’s just hyperargeted by Dak Prescott. So I’m not like, “Oh, this guy stinks.” because he drops a lot of passes. But I think we can all admit that Wadd has had some drop issues in his career and he really had a lot of issues last season early in the year. I think he had a he had six drops last season charred by PFF. I think he had like three or four of them in the first like five weeks. It was pretty rough for Jaylen Wadd early in the season. So you’d like to see that improve from your future wide receiver one, right? Um, but I am not completely panicking, but it is something that I would hope Wadd is improving on as we get further on in his career. We’re going to talk about one more thing with Wadd here in a second. But grab your Dolphins Cutoff hoodies today because they’re just on sale for a great price. $55 usually. Right now, you can get them for 33. Just go to chatsports.com/mia cututoff sale. That link’s in the description and comments of today’s video. Sizes are running out. take advantage why now while you can. Don’t forget chatsports.commia cut off sale when it comes to waddle and I run want to round out the conversation here. Dolphins got away with murder. What is the murder? His contract because there was a certain player in our division that got extended this week at the wide receiver spot by the New York Jets named Garrett Wilson and the Dolphins extended Jaylen Wadd last off season. So, one year prior to Wilson, but let’s look at the different contract extensions. Both obviously top half picks in the first round. Wadd got a three-year 84.75 million extension with $76 million in guarantees and it comes out to an AAV of 28.25 mil. Well, Garrett Wilson this week got a four-year $130 million extension, $90 million in guaranteed. So, $24 million. excuse me, $14 million in guarantees and one more year with an AAV of $32.5 million in annual average value. So, when you look at the two contracts, Miami clearly has the better deal by having Wadd under contract for 4.25 AAV less a season and also $14 million less guarantee. And when you think about the two wide receivers, Jaylen Wadd has had the better career. Yes, Wadd has played one more season, four versus three. But you see, it’s an 11 game difference for the two players. Wadd has 30 more receptions, which Garrett Wilson would probably top that reception mark in 11 games, but he would not top Jaylen Waddle’s yardages. Do I think Garrett Wilson is getting 900 yards in 11 games? I do not think that. Is he getting six touchdowns? Maybe. Wadd’s the big play guy. And his yard per game is three yards higher than Garrett Wilson’s. Like, you’re looking at these two wide receivers. And I feel like Jaylen Wadd without a question has had the better career. And I know he’s played one more game. is one year older and he was the higher draft pick. Wadd was sixth overall. Like, but I think this is a good deal for Miami and I want to throw it up to the fans watching at home. Who’s the better wide receiver, Jaylen Wild or Garrett Wilson? Type JW for our guy. Type GW if you think it’s Garrett Wilson. Let me know your thoughts down in the comments section. And although I think it is very close and ultimately I think you’re splitting hairs. Both these wide receivers are in the same tier of NFL wide receivers. But if you’re going to choose which one you want on your football team, I’ll take the one that is getting paid $4 million less per season. Not the craziest amount, but it certainly is helpful. That’s another $4 million you can spend elsewhere on your roster in the salary cap league. Like that’s a rare win for a year GM Chris Greer extending Jaylen Wadd a year early. Now, who knows what Wadd would have been paid if they did not extend him because he did have a downish season last year, but he still would have commanded close to 30 million. You saw what DK Metaf got. You see what Garrett Wilson got. You see what um Chris God was getting offered by teams in free agency. What Mike Evans got. Um what was the oh Terry Mcccluren wants like getting Wadd early extended was a good move by Greer at that price point because if you waited you might have had to pay him what Garrett Wilson just got paid from the Jets. So that’s a very rare and good win for Chris Greer and the Dolphins to get waddle on that extension when they did. That’ll do it for this episode of Dolphins today. If you made it through the entire show and not subscribed, what are you waiting for? for you like what we’re bringing to the table at least to some degree. I'm biggest dolphins fan known to man and also big supporter of Tua. With that being said if Tua misses more then 2-3 games this season WE MUST MOVE ON!!! 3 YRS OF THIS BS IS ENOUGH!! I HOPE TUA PROVES EVERYONE WRONG AND HAS A MASSIVE YEAR AND WE GO DEEP INTO THE PLAYOFFS !! BUT WILL SEE.. LETS GO FINS!!! 🐬
The only thing exciting is when Grier is finally fired!
Grier should've been fired 10 years ago. McDaniel should never have been hired……thanx Ross
Depends on the oline
💯 👍👍
I agree. Maybe a low 5
I'm a master plumber I'm needed but. If not reliable I'm out.

Tyreek is a pain in the ass but Tyreek shows up every week and we are WAISTING his prime years but know this waddle will always be a #2 not a #1 he catches the ball with his body not his hands #1's don't do that!!! Tyreek is strictly speed and once that's gone it's over!!!
He shouldn't miss a game this year because the run game will be great! We will be more balanced on offense and that'll take more pressure off of Tua
Can we keep Tua upright please!!
WADDLE CANT BE THE BEST WR ON THIS FOOTBALL TEAM IN THE FUTURE. Our wr 1 will be drafted. Waddle is a 2.
Issue with Tia is will he be able to complete passes now the entire NFL knows the scheme and Tua can't complete passes in the intermediate and deep outside the hashes. Teams are taking away the middle of the field now the O looks Anemic. Screen screen dump off to rb…quick pass screen dump off short to te.
5 if he would wear that protective helmet, then I'd put him higher.
The amount of games we lost that defense couldn’t get a stop to seal deal. Tuas would have at least 8 more wins
If healthy, I'm all in on him.
If healthy, I'm all in on him.
Too much emphasis, If Tua can?!!!!!
He’s beyond good enough!Mediocre quarterbacks have won superbowls! It’s all about team chemistry and great coaching and organization
