Welcome everybody. And uh, good afternoon. This is another glimpse into the future of our Washington nationals. The first overall selection in the 2025 MLB player draft Eli Willits. I just say I’m ready to get out there and play. Um, I set a goal to be in the big leagues by the time I’m 20 that’s, that’s something I, I’m really excited to do and hopefully I get out there and start playing well and that, that can be something that I can accomplish in the next few years. So Mitchell Parker really his last good start recently, that quality start four times ago against San Diego. His seventh quality start of the year, 20th start of the season. He’s 5 to 10 with a 51 two. Er, a fernando settles into the right handed batters box. Fernando 268 on the year on base percentage, almost 100 points higher. And he will jack one to left center in the yard. Hold it. Yeah. Well, and so will Jacob Young racing over there. Then the ball kind of died on him and he had to get down to make that draft well done out there in the gap. Gentlemen, here comes luis Arise. He is tied for fifth in the National league with 100 and four hits. Three, two hot shot one half Garcia, a good job not to walk him in front of Machado. Mitchell’s walks at home for nine innings for over four before June and now under two, two down here in the first inning for Manning. He is ding tonight. A Machado gets jammed enough rather short center and a top of the first and a 123 top of the first inning. Nothing doing Nationals coming up against yu Darvish. See you, Darvish back on the mound and if there’s anybody ready to go, it’s Yu Darvish only his third start. He spent a lot of time on the I L and CJ Abrams. A left handed hitter swings to the first pitch. It’s a little tapper up the line , Darvish bare hands it and fires to first in time one away. Can’t be the easiest thing. First pitch of the game. I imagine you have other stuff on your mind in that moment other than having to field a little number of the first baseline. But Darvish off the mound cat like and really good barehanded play and here’s James Wood trying to bust out of a slump three for his last 32 17 punch outs off pitch and that is strike three, gets him looking right on the corner of the sweeper first strikeout of the night for yu Darvish two down in the bottom of the first inning. There’s Luis Garc-a two and one. Here’s the pitch from Darvish and garcia swings, pops it up right side of the infield. Jake kind of stepping a little bit towards the bag at second on the dirt. He’ll back pedal now and make the two handed catch to end a 123 bottom of the first inning. No score after one in DC, lefty , lefty matchup here sheets. The left fielder digs in the two. So a chopping ground ball right side, garcia grabs the two bouncer throws on to first get sheet by a step one out in the top of the second base is empty for Xander Bogart and continue to hit last night. A couple of hits including a hustle double. Here comes the 31 to Bogart and a fly ball well hit to center chasing back young slowing edge of the warning track. He’ll make the catch to step out of the warning track and now two away for the clean shaven Jackson. The pitch had a fly ball straight away center and deep angling over deep to his left goes young streaking on the warning track. He’s got it. Mitchell Parker’s retired six in a row. The veteran against the rookie House has hit in seven of his last eight Maldonado, an outside target. House scores from third from second with RB I two and three and a clutch two out single and a big two out rally for the Nationals here in the second inning, the nationals two and the Padres, Jose Iglesias gets the call at third base tonight with Machado in that DH spot and Padres searching for their first baserunner of the night delivers and Iglesias hits it on a line of the first baseline towards the right field corner. Jose digging around first trying for two. Lyle digs it out of the right field corner but no chance to get him and double for jose Iglesias to begin the third inning. That was the Padres first hit of the game hits it right down the right field line and the leadoff gets the Padres in action here in the third runner on second. Nobody out tying run at the plate. Here’s Cron now set and ready. The 32 Korth swings in the air, center field straight away. Young goes straight back makes the catch Iglesias tagging 2nd and 3rd. Here’s the throw the tag not in time and this one allows Iglesias to advance. Padres continue to run the bases with just absolute excellence here in 2025 as Martin Maldonado gets and Padres Iglesias at third base and one away at the pitch and Maldonado in the air to left center field that’s really well struck. Young is going back at the wall bangs into the fence, can’t make the catch as the ball rolls back towards the outfield Grass Aldona into second with an RB I double and look out. Jacob Young nearly made the catch of the year and went hard into the patted ball unable to squeeze the baseball, which I think was in his love at a point. He lost the battle with the wall. Great effort by Young but the Padres cut the lead in half on the double for maldonado two on the inside corner called strike three looking for the second out of the inning, Padres looking to keep it up, chance to tie this ball game here with luis Arra at the plate and hits it over the head of the second baseman garcia into center Maldonado rumbling around third on his way to score a game tying RB I single for Luis is locking back in at the plate a little too out magic for the Padres. A little bit of calling card, fastball, middle middle and as you would expect, shot right back up the middle RB I single for Luisa Rice and it’s 22 here in the third. Number one here in this third inning, Luis Garc-a Junior coming up, there’s a line drive to center field Merrill charging in. He will die forward, make the catch that’s going to be a double play. They’re gonna get Abrams at second base CJ. Sold out not thinking Merrill was going to catch it but he did and that ends the third inning top of the fifth inning Iglesias cronenworth. And Maldonado 789 lines one into right center field and a base hit lead off single to start the fifth inning for San Diego. Two way turns the order over for fernando and Fernando will take ball four. So walk here with two down in the inning has runners at 1st and 2nd. He will pass it along to Luis zero two and her eye hits it into the ground slowly left side diving attempt by House. He can’t get it into left field. Iglesias will be held though as wood gets to it quickly and sends it in. Andres will have the bases loaded for Manny Machado Machado. And Lyles scores Jacob Young the second and the nationals back in front 3 to 2 nationals by a run 3 to 2 in the top of the sixth. Parker’s last win in San Diego in June. He is now leading by a run in the sixth with two outs. Nobody on his Jackson Merrill now comes up bouncing ball garcia and for the 10th time this year, Mitchell Parker gets through 6, 5.5 in the Books Nationals. Three Padres two bottom of the sixth inning or the order against the new Padre pitcher. The left hander Yuki Matsui, two out bases empty and Nathaniel Lowe and he will face Matt Sui for the third time. That ball is hammered, left center at the wall. It’s the nationals four in the Padres two on to the eighth. We go 42 nationals with one on and nobody out. Jose Ferrer is about to move into a tie for first in the national league in appearances. This will be game number 48 is coming in to face a hit machine and BB and it’s a good one. Now is Millis though. He fires the front. The right field. Fernando is being stopped at third. They put the brakes on. That was a play. They’re going to get a rise at the very least, ends up down the right field line. You talk about a break hand it your way. This is huge. 2nd and 3rd with nobody out and here’s 12 pitch to Machado swing and a miss, he struck him out. That was a changeup running down and in well off the corner and Ferrer got him to chase a bad one. That’s a big strike for Jose. Number one here in the top of the eighth inning. Now, lefty, lefty against Gavin , she, the base hit almost certainly ties the game. The lefty sets Ferrer fires swing a tapper. This is back to the Mount Ferrer has it. He’s going to throw home. They’ve got Tatis in a run down. Millis throws to House chasing him toward the plate. Throws back to Millis chasing him toward third and he chases him down, dives for the tag safe is the call rise has hung up at second and Mila holds onto the ball and the bases are gonna be loaded. The Nationals don’t get it out and the bases are loaded, but they’re going to challenge this call. Mila is adamant that he tagged Tatis diving for it, held out of the ball, went back to second sheets ends up at first and the nationals will issue a replay challenge if they do not win this challenge. Oh my goodness. The over the run is out. So Tatis is out 1252 and runners led up 2nd and 1st who had a double against him last night will get in Fres fastball line drive right field, shallow racing in his call. He there, he’s got it and the inning is over. What an escape by Ferrer, no runs, no hits and error and two guys left on base here. It’s a 4 to 2 game in the top of the ninth. Kyle Finnegan has to have a short memory. He had a rough outing last night. He’s had two rough ones in a row. Kyle Finnegan strikes out Jose Iglesias on three pitches and Finnegan is an out away from that elusive 19th save one ball. Two strikes Finnegan ready here it comes, strike three called fastball at the knees and the game’s over kyle Finnigan has that elusive 19th save nationals are 42 winners.
