Cardinals vs. D-backs Game Highlights (7/19/25) | MLB Highlights

Both teams, it’s hard to say this in July, both teams kind of have to win as many as possible to the last day of July. Arizona, they are led by one player and that’s Corbin Carroll. He’s going to face, he along with the Diamondbacks are going to face the best pitcher on the Cardinal staff. They are plus 11 to 500 when Sunny Gray throws. 27year-old out of Oregon, Ryan Nelson. A lot of fast balls coming the Cardinals way. Yeah, been one of most their most effective pitchers this year. Been in the bullpen, been on the starting staff. Donovan had a one for four game with a hit by pitch last night. This is pitch number eight of the sequence and it’s strike three. There’s a fast ball about shoulder high for the first punch out of the game for Nelson. Here is Verison who’s already got 17 doubles this year. And he attacks the first pitch and he skies it straight away for Alec Thomas. And for Ryan Nelson, two outs on two pitches to close out a one, two, three. top of the first. Sunny Gray hasn’t given up a home run to a left-handed bat in his last 10 starts. He’s keeping in the ballpark and really has had an exceptional year. He started off a little rough, but see that record nine and three. He will face Corbin Carroll Cardinals last night. The Diamondbacks had 11 hits. Unfortunately, Carol had none of them. 0 for four walk and three strikeouts. That ball sliced to right center field and a very good triples ballpark. Corbin Carroll has the foot on the floor on his way to third. All right, so the hand looks pretty good right now, huh? Didn’t waste any time. Shoots this ball out in the gap and when watching him run, he gets to about second base and it looks like he turns it on to another gear. Lead off triple just like that. And now Sunny Gay is in a bind. The left-handed batting Araldo Peromo at the plate. Two rock to center. That’s a base hit. The Diamondbacks, a fearsome offense, get the 11th triple for Carol and jackpot it immediately on a Peromo RBI single. This is a ball that just leaks out over the plate. It’s a sinker. It stays up in the zone. Doesn’t miss it. So, the bases are empty for Josh Naylor way behind in the fast. Previous time, they’re going to say catcher interference. So catcher interference against Pahz who had his glove knocked off he was reaching to accept strike three and instead of the strikeout Naylor gets first base and now to Suarez one- nothing Diamondbacks runner at first two outs. Au Annie O Suarez lights it up left field and the Diamondback slugger again annihilates a baseball. let the Diamondbacks front office know that he would like to spend the rest of his summer in Arizona. Bottom two here in Arizona. The Diamondbacks with the lead and a first pitch swing into left center field. It goes Alec Thomas all the way to the wall and he has a first pitch double. Sunny Gray again greeted rudely. Here is Blae as Alexander loads up and whistles that ball into left and center. Here comes Thomas around third. Very quickly, the Diamondbacks have run number four. Sunny Gray is not an easy guy to jump on early in his major league career. And the Diamondbacks have made a living on it this Saturday. Yeah, they’ve been all over him. The first two hitters of the game, triple a single now to start the second inning, double a single on two pitches. Carol down to the count, one and two. As strongly as he has. Here’s a fly ball for center field. Carol did not miss by much. Alexander Tags, he’s on his way to second and he is there with his legs an extra 90 ft. That’s knowing your home ballpark and the dimensions. Well, it’s two things. It’s knowing the ballpark, but if you watch Dave McKay over at first base, he is screaming at Thomas. He’s saying, “Get back. Get back.” He’s telling him to go. Predomo already with his 68th RBI of the season. That is pass shorts stop and winds glove into left center. Here comes another run thanks to the extra base Alexander took on the fly ball to center. It’s 5 nothing. Any Suarez homered back in the first inning. He leads off the bottom of the third inning. Suarez catapults this ball high in the air deep right field one more time. And that ball is sent up and out one more time. Two in two at bats for Suarez. He’s now third in baseball. He just passed Joe Otani with the 33rd home run. Blaze Alexander made the final out defensively in the top of the fourth. He’ll get the offense going in the bottom of the fourth inning. Base hit to center. Alexander’s two for two. Carol is one for two with a triple and a run scored. That ball smoked to right field once again. Corbin Carroll lays waste to this ball and it goes rolling for days. He wants another triple and the league leader has it standing up. Two triples for Carol. Two homers for Suarez. The Diamondbacks do what they do this Saturday. There’s another base hit. Peromo first pitch hunting. RBI single. add another one for Arizona. We’ve seen that story before, right? Triple P for Domo following up with an RBI single for Domo. Three base hits this evening. First and second, two down and Castillo this to right field is way laid by Del Castillo. All he’s done is hit. They’ll add one. It’s an RBI double. Peromo scores. Suarez to third. And the Diamondbacks are overwhelming the Cardinals. This is how you pitch with the lead though. You don’t want to just pipe strike. The O2 swing and a miss. He strikes him out and the Cardinals fail to score once again. Five shut out by Nelson. St. Louis has only had their leadoff man on one time through now six innings. Oh boy, that ball is dowsted deep to right field. Alec Burles destructs this baseball for the first run for St. Louis. That was properly struck. Came off the bat at 107 m an hour. 443 ft. You know, he makes contact. His hands are close to his body. It is a compact swing. Well, he’s been on base all three times this evening. Ground ball at second base. And that sneaks on through from Saji who looked like he was in front of it. Instead, Alexander is on for a fourth time. Corbin Carroll. Since 1901, 49 times a player has had three triples in a game. Can he be the 50th? That ball’s drilled to right field by Carol. Down the line it goes. And Corbin Carroll sends it deep into that corner. He may Oh, they’re going to slow into a stop. He had three on his mind, but the base was occupied. Corbin, man, he does that thing. He gets right around second. He turns it on to another level. He was going to third. There’s a ground ball off the mound to the middle infield. That’s a tough play for Mason Win who does get over and make the out over at first for out number two. But another run comes home. Alexander scores. Carol to third. It’s 10 to one. And it will be up to the left-hander Kyle Bakus out of the bullpen to get the final out of the ball game. Okay, Alexander. One pitch later ends the game. The Diamondbacks will go for a sweep tomorrow. 10 to one behind massive offense from the Allstars for the Diamondbacks. Yeah, the offense really set the tone. Corbin Carroll starting the game off with that triple again. And if he can start playing and and becoming more of that guy that we saw for the first 70 75 games of the season, you know, Arizona has a legitimate

  1. And Ketel is out, imagine if the snakes had a healthy Corbin Burnes and a better Gallen.

There is no way they are gonna trade neither Suarez or Naylor.

  2. we needed this one, cards are hanging on for dear life trying to be in the wildcard. with mikolas pitching tomorrow we could very well get swept we need him to go 6 and have offense score at least 3 before he's out

  3. As a Cardinal fan, we have been giving away records for teams, for example about a month ago, the cardinals made the cubs history with 8 homers in one game for the first time in Chicago Cubs history. Then TODAY they almost made Corbon Caroll get 3 triples in 1 game. Which if did happen, then Corbon would have been the first player since like 1900 or something to get 3 triples in one game. Luckily the Cardinals were able to avoid that but goodness.
