MLB LIVE🔴 Miami Marlins vs Kansas City Royals – Jul 20, 2025 | Full Game MLB 2025 EN VIVO

just about set to go and getting to start. Yuri Perez, what do we have on him? Well, he’s putting together a really nice season on the mound. Erra in the low threes. Very respectable when you consider guys are looking to do damage. They’re not trying to just walk and hit singles. They’re trying to hit homers and draw walks and score runs. So when you have a guy that can limit the other team from scoring more than a few runs, that’s really tough to beat game in and game out. That one fouled off the pitch. That’s in there. And that’s strike two. Good zip on that fast at the bottom of the zone. If he’s there all day, it’s going to be a tough one for the hitters. This one lifted in the air left field. Meyers makes the catch and there’s one gone. And here now the lineup for the Royals. And Chris, this group has been struggling to put up runs lately. Well, they haven’t been on base a ton. And even when they are, they haven’t been hitting very well with runners on base. So, they need a player or two to really step up, have some quality at bats, hit according to the situation, and sort of break out of this. I think if they do, the rest of this lineup will follow and first offering is fouled off. Perez, he isn’t really known as a starting pitcher that’s going to get you deep into the start. It’s not that he’s not capable. He just hasn’t proven that he can do it yet. He’s got such great stuff. You just don’t know from start to start whether it’s a potential no hitter or it’s a guy that’s only going to give you three or four innings and it’s fouled off. They’ll do it again. But for the most part with that kind of stuff, you expect him to get to the middle of the ball game. And one and two. What does he need to do in order to get deeper into the game? Well, I’d say it’s command of the secondary pitches because when you’re talking about turning over the order a second and third time, and guys are getting looks, you’ve got to be able to put a wrinkle on something, change speeds, and locate it enough so that they offer at it. Two down, base is empty. Vinnie Pasquantino now at the plate. Swing and a miss. And he was fooled. Ultimately, you want them to swing and chase a pitch that teases the zone and ends outside the zone, but so far he hasn’t been able to do that consistently. Oh, one down. Nope. That’s ball. Two outs. Base is empty. Next offering is in for a strike. Swaging a ball hit out towards left center field and that will fall. Joey gets on base and keeps it going. Batting fourth, the third baseman Mike. So now for Kansas City, Mikel Garcia, it’s been a tough stretch for him at the plate. Barely hitting over the Mendoza line this month. First pitch doesn’t find the zone. And another ball. And he hits a ground ball right side, slings to first. And that is the inning. Royals leave one. Now the Marlins will see what they can do. No score. It’s Major League Baseball on the show. Back here at Loone Depot Park starting on the mound in this one. Noah Cameron singing. He’s kind of a road warrior. Yeah, I definitely say so. You know, some guys shrink a little bit on the road. They’re so used to just, you know, having the comforts of being at home and having the fans behind them, but this guy seems to thrive in adversity and being in some hostile environment. So when you have a player like this on your team that goes out there and competes, you definitely like your chances away from your home ballpark. Next offering is fouled back. That one just misses. Going to count one and two. Really good take especially with two strikes. Next pitch is outside. headed towards the corner. Fair ball makes the turn and heads for second. And he’s into scoring position with a leadoff double. Maybe a chance for our first run here. So the go-ahehead run in scoring position and now the right fielder Jesus Sanchez that clips the corner 0 and one. Edwards at second with nobody out. Pitches in the dirt. One and one. Just missed. Foul ball there. No outs. Runner on second. I wouldn’t throw him another breaking ball. Try to go again with a fast ball. Slightly elevated. He just having a hard time catching up outside. Fouled off again and it remains three and two. Let’s go. Come on. You can do it. Come on. Swing and a miss. And he got him. Not what you’re looking for after the leadoff double. A strike out and there’s one away. He’s locked in at the plate when he’s using the whole field. He was out in front there. Just needs to let the ball travel a little more and his timing will be back on track. Good pitch for the strikeout. And the batter now, Augustine Ramirez. All right, Miami. There’s the strike. All one’s the count. Fouled off. He was late. Runner at second here. One gone. gets a piece and it stays 0 and two and misses inside and a foul ball. He stays alive. That wasn’t an easy pitch to hit. It’s much easier to do damage against mistakes, but that’s not what that pitch was. Throw to second. Save. One out and a runner at second. Foul ball left side. He’ll see another. Next offering is downstairs. Check swing now to look down to first. Ring him up, says Daryl Parker. That’s a strikeout. So back-to- back strikeouts now and they still haven’t managed to do anything with the leadoff double. Yeah, Boo. And you just don’t want to get careless here. You’ve done a really good job to get two outs after that leadoff double as you mentioned and just got to execute your pitches and it’s a non-issue. Kyle Sters stands in now looks at that one inside. Swinging a foul out of play. Kyle swings through that one for strike two. Let that change up. Got away with one there and he’ll take it but doesn’t want to make that mistake again. And that is a good eye on a pitch down low and the count is two and two. good spot there, but didn’t get the strike at the knees and doesn’t seem too convinced by the call out there on the mound as he tries to get a better sense of the umpire strike zone. Fans another and that’s three straight strikeouts. A lot of adrenaline. We can see it right there. And sometimes you just got to let it out. That’s an outstanding job of taking that, executing, and getting out of a tough inning. back here in Miami. And now it’s Salvador Perez to the plate. Salvador Perez. Perez back to work. Just missed. clips the corner and it’s a ball to strike. Assigned to home plate duty is Ricky Holiday. Boo. And something I’ve heard players saying about Ricky’s strike zone is how he will call the high strike. That could be something that’s tough to deal with, especially if you’ve got a pitcher out there coming at you with high velocity. Next offering way off the plate. That one missing inside. Right through there for a strike. And boy, that was the finish. 3-1. You want to be really aggressive on the fast ball. foul ball and it remains a full cow. Got him. He battled for a long time, but it finishes with a strike out. You can’t be mad at yourself after an attack bat like that one. Really good battle right there. And that final pitch probably could have gone either way. He was hoping he’d get ball four. Instead, the umpire rings him up for the backwards K. Now here is Jack Kaggle Leone. No score here in the second. Let’s go. You can do it. And that one misses up and in. And it’s two and two. swings and hits one in the air out towards right field. Sanchez pulls it down and there’s two gone. The left John Ray steps in for the Royals. on the ground to third. Paulie throws across the diamond out number three. Nothing doing for the Royals. We’ll go to the bottom of the second. No score. And we’re back. Bottom half of inning number two. And at the plate for Miami, Otto Lopez Lopez. That’s off the inside corner. Ball one. The shorts stop takes a ball. And that one fouled off. And that’s outside. Next offering is in for a strike. Countful. make it four strikeouts in a row. Just cruising along. Yeah, there’s no doubt, Boo. Electric stuff from the jump. I mean, there’s just no messing around right now. Still very early, but we could see a pretty impressive outing here if the strikeouts keep coming in the way they are. One thing you have to be aware of, though, is a high strikeout rate might impact the pitch count as the innings roll on. One out, base is empty. The one-1 is fouled off. Had a good eye there. And it remains two and two. Little bit low. Fouled off. And they’ll do it again. Come on, Leo. Another one. That’s five straight strikeouts. Well, right now he’s in cruise control, autopilot, just dominating these hitters. I mean, doesn’t look like it’s a fun at bat. And all of a sudden, you become in awe of this guy on the mound. Somebody’s got to break this thing up. That’s five straight strikeouts. Got to put a ball in play. Dane Meyers stands in now and watches strike one. Ball one there. That’s a good pitch there. Really had some run and finished little up and end just on the edge. And that’s one of those if you swing at it, he had a broken back as you jog back to the dugout. Here we go. Let’s go. Strike three. And now six strikeouts in a row. Impeccable command in that one. Three batters, three strikeouts. That’s electric stuff out there on the mound. All set for the start of the inning. And to the plate for Kansas City, Freddy Fine. Freddy Fine. That one not close. And it’s one and0. And another ball. Two and0. Next offering upstairs. Well, I would expect in this three-0 count, you’re taking all the way. See if he’ll walk you. It’s a lead off walk. And that’s the go-ahehead run. He did not take the bat off his shoulder the entire bat. And now it’s Kyle Isel. Good defender. He’s been inconsistent offensively. And a strike right through there. That one in triple digits. Top of the third, no score. And a foul ball. Knocks that one away and we’ll do it again. Good job to fight that one off. swings through it and that’s a strike out. Good pitch right there. I mean, he’s attacking a location that this guy at the plate tends to have trouble with. Man, there’s just so much information in this day and age. Sometimes too much information, but the guys that can take that information, process it, and then go out there, boo, and execute the pitch, go right after that hitter and get the result that they were anticipating. That’s really good pitching right there. And it’s a good job of the pitcher and the catcher working together. Jonathan at the plate. First pitch misses. You have to be creative pitching against bad ball hitters. You got to add some velocity. Subtract at times. Just avoiding the heart of the plate isn’t always going to be enough. Guys like this can hurt you with pitches you wouldn’t expect them to swing at. Get out of here. And there’s a foul ball. That one finds the zone and it’s one and two for over at first with one away. Oh, that’s low. That’s down and in. On the ground is second. Might be two. There’s one. And that’s two. Three up, three down for him. There we head down to the home half of inning number three. No score set for the bottom of the third now for the Marlins. Graham Pley Pley as he turns on the rubber and with that good live arm delivers swing and a pop off in foul ground and that’s a foul ball. All one ripped but a curls foul. A change up missing and it’s two and two. Line drive and it’s caught for the out. It’s never fun going back to the dugout after hitting a line drive that finds a glove. But you will get some high fives. You know, when you make great contact, you feel like you’ve done everything right. But in this game of baseball, not everything is in your control. Nick Forz at the plate now. That’s ball one inside. Just missed. Breaking ball. Misses down and away. though Chris through the early stages. He hasn’t been very efficient in terms of the pitch count. He’s going to need to get some quick outs if he’s going to get deeper into this game. That’s ball four. Tried another fast ball but missed the spot. Probably tried to nibble right there and just missed his spot. Hitter didn’t offer at it. Now he has somebody to worry about over at first. It is interesting though when you consider the way the game is run now. Doesn’t even matter that much if your starter doesn’t go that deep because teams are really aggressively building their bullpens. Ground ball to the right side and it gets by. Jesus Sanchez the next up for the Marlins. Yeah, that’s fouled off. Well, all eyes on the double play ball in this spot. No better way to get out of this inning. Double play situation here. He’s been working up in the zone. Typically, you look for guys to get that ground ball. See if he adjusts on this next pitch. Gets a piece there. We’ll do it again. Got him looking and he did not like the call. Quite the start to this game on the mound. Looking very dangerous to these hitters. Seven punch outs already. So, this lineup hasn’t had much success trying to figure him out. I’m impressed with what we’re seeing here. Augustine Ramirez, the next up for the Marlins. Went down on strikes his first time through. basketball for a strike. 0 and one. Two on, two outs. Ball. One and one. Ball. in the dirt. Nothing happening on the bases though. Two outs and fouled off. swinging a ground ball and it’s just fouled. That was close up the middle. That’s the third out. Inning over. Two left on. On to inning number four. We’re tied nothing. nothing and welcome back to the ballpark as we go to the top of the fourth. So up now for Kansas City, Bobby Wit Jr. and that’s a little high. And that one hammered ranging back. Bangs off the wall into second easily with a leadoff double. Got a fast ball middle of the plate. Jumped all over it. Absolutely smoked that ball. Runner in scoring position now. And a good opportunity to push across the first run of the ball game. Go ahead run on base. Vinnie Pasquantino steps in for the Royals. One for one with a single so far. And that drops in for a strike. Come on, Miami. Here’s the O2. Just misses with that one. Strike him out. And that’s outside. Two strikes. Fourth inning underway. No score. Strike him out. Swings and misses. Strike him out. Not the best location with the fast ball on strike three, but when you’re playing the high 90s, you get away with some of those more margin for error. You know, the fast ball becomes such a huge strikeout pitch in the sport. I think a lot of it has to do with all the attention and emphasis on improved spin rates. These fast balls are just exploding out of the pitcher hands and jumping through the zone. Next to hit, Mikel Garcia first offering and it just misses. Perez checks the runner with back in on a dive. One out and a runner at second. Top half of inning number four. Next offering is fouled back. Miami just missed. man at second. spoils a two- strike pitch and he’ll see another that missed by a lot. Ball three. Whit the runner at second with one away. Stays alive. Strike three and that’s two in a row. Now the the way So the go-ahehead run in scoring position. Salvi steps into the box now. His first at bat was a strike out and he blows that one by him at 100. One’s the count. Runner at second. Two down. Here’s the pitch. Runner on the move. Strike in there. Out to third and that ends the inning. When you get thrown out at third with two outs, you kind of want to keep on running. Not a great decision there as it ends the inning. Back here in low deep park, John Chami and Chris Singleton with you. And leading off the bottom of the fourth, Kyle St. And there’s the strike sters. 27 years old and he’s usually in the outfield. Today he’s the DH. That one’s upstairs. Ball one. to third. And that’s a fair ball. The batter numbering in Otto Lopez caught looking his first time off. Lopez and downstairs. And it’s even up just off the inside edge. You don’t want to get beat by a fast ball in and he spits on that one the other way down the line and it’s foul with two strikes. May see some movement over there at first base trying to stay out of the double play right here. Oh, he doesn’t get the call. And now three and two. Well, as a pitcher, when you make a big pitch down around the knees and don’t get the call, it’ll lead at you out there. So, some handle it a little bit better than others. And right here, clearly letting the ump hear it a little bit. Battling here as he fouls it away. Line drive base hit. Throw back in quickly. First and second now with nobody out. Oh, just a nice job. hit that lever spot right there. Tried to get inside on him, but he was ready for it. Just kept his hands in and turned on the pitch. Quick bat through the zone. First and second, no outs. Liam Hicks the next up for the Marlins. Up and in. One and0. No outs. Runners at first and second. Puts a bunt down. Garcia on the run. Throw to first on the money. Nice play. That’s a good piece of hitting right there. The job was to move the runner up and give your team a chance to score the go-ahead run. That’s exactly what happened. So, you better believe your teammates are happy with you after that at bat. Dane Meyers digs in now. Golden opportunity right here. First pitch just misses. He’s got a base open. So the pressure to come in and really attack this hitter not as great as it would be if the bags were sacked. Just missed. Well, he looks more focused at the plate and working the count after that first at bat strikeout. grounds one to short with whips it across and the first run of the game comes across. Now the third baseman Paul third baseman grab Paul flips the corner and one two outs and one in scoring position. Swings and misses. 0 and two. Well, you can’t expect to get a great pitch to hit with an open base and a runner on second. He’s going to have to really tighten up his sights here. Make sure that he can barrel up the ball. And it’s fouled off. They’ll do it again. Ball. That’s too high. That’s a really good job of laying off the O2 high fast ball is going to make that pitcher really have to respect this hitter even though he’s behind in the count in the dirt but kept close and an excellent job keeping it right There off the plate inside. Counts full. Three and two. Nick Forz waits on deck for Miami. Ninth pitch of the at bat do next. Outside corner got him looking. So they pick up a run on two hits. No errors and a man left. Onto the top of the fifth we go. It’s the Marlins one and the Royals nothing. We go to the top of the fifth. Digging in, Salvador Perez. Leading off for the Royals, the designated hitter, Salvador Perez. Perez back to work. right through there for a strike. Well, these Royals showing great discipline at the plate and patience definitely seems to be the name of their game in this one. Starter’s leash has to be getting tighter with his pitch count where it is, but so far he’s been really effective in this one. That one drifts inside. You know, sometimes it just takes getting to the bullpen in order to be able to score runs. And that might be the case today. Oh, he doesn’t get the call. Two balls in a strike. You got two balls, one strike. Swing and a high-fly ball. Raget field. Ramirez under it. Puts it away for the Jack Kaggle Leone steps in for the Royals. fly to right his first time and immediately pumps in a strike to the left-handed hitter. The fish leading by a run and we’re at the top of the fifth and that one got a piece of it. Got it. First fish. Stepping in, John Raed out. First time up and action there for strike one. He’s pitching well, but not throwing a ton of first pitch strikes. Usually doesn’t work out for success, but you can never predict baseball. That one catches the corner for a strike. getting a little frustrated with the strike zone. That misses the zone at a count one and two. Man, oh man. I don’t know how you take that pitch. That’s as close as it gets. Gets a piece and stays alive. Man at first, one away. This one in the air, right field. Sanchez in position. He’s got it. Two away now. Now batting catcher Freddy Ferine. And next up for the Royals, Freddy Fine. Walked his first time. That one missed. Kaggle Leone leads off first with two down to the inning. And that drops in for a strike. Two outs. chopped out in front of the plate and that’ll do it. So, one left for Kansas City. They’re down one- nothing. Back here in Miami, we head to the bottom of the fifth. Now, it’s the Marlins catcher, Nick Forez. Miami just missed. Bullpin action for the Royals. Michael Laorenzan appears to be getting loose. Clark getting cranked up as well. Sharp grounder that’s through for base hit. So, a runner aboard to start the inning. The batter number nine, second baseman Xavier. Back to the top of the Miami. Xavier Edwards the next up for the Marlins in there for strike one. And that drops in for a strike. Good eye in that spot. And that’s awfully close. I don’t know how you take that. He’s seeing the ball out of the pitcher’s hand really well right now. To first might be two to second. There’s one, but the return throw is off target. They can’t turn the double play. Well, they had the chance of turning two right there, but I don’t think he got a good grip on the ball as he tried to transfer from glove to throwing hand. They say you can’t assume a double play. I beg to differ at the big league level, but it’s going to be ruled as a fielder’s choice. Jesus Sanchez the next up for the Marlins who’s 0 for two with a pair of strikeouts. Runner takes off pitch in for a strike and that’s a stolen base. Not even close. Pickoff throw. Edwards back on the dive. Lifting in the air down the left side and it’s just foul. Swang and a miss. Struck him out. That’s his ninth strike out so far. Third time he struck out in this one. And definitely an individual performance you want to flush. He just hasn’t looked very comfortable up there. Just one of those days. But when you’re still winning the ball game, at least you can focus on doing your part to maintain that lead and getting that W. And up next for Miami, Augustine Ramirez for two in this one. And a first pitch fast ball is in for a strike. The lefty closing in on 100 pitches. Really laboring here in the fifth. Next pitch is going to be number 100. Man, you got to think this is probably his last inning if he can get through this thing. Runner at second. Two down. Last half of inning number five. Let’s go. Line to left. Ray puts it away and that’s the inning. One hit, one left. We’re through five. It’s the Marlins one and the Royals nothing. Top six and to the plate for Kansas City, Kyle Isel. You talk about elite defensive players, especially in the middle of the diamond, and this guy is at the top of the list. Bunch attempt, but that goes foul. Yeah, we go beyond just the, you know, fielding percentage and, you know, what it looks like, but the ability to have range and, you know, close holes that, you know, are normally there against an average defender. But this guy is special and you can see it in his first step quickness. There now. Two balls in a strike. And that’s outside. Expect for that guy to come right at you with a fast ball, something in the zone because he does not want to allow the lead off wall. And a foul ball. He stays alive. And a swing and a miss. Beat him with a fast. Now the Marlins manager out of the dugout and he’ll make a move to the pen. Yuri Perez will depart. Only two hits allowed for him. So, a great effort. And we’ll be back after a quick break to tell you about the new on. Now pitching for new pitcher for the Marlins, Calantro. Well, he’s been hit pretty hard at times this season as you see with the big RA. So, this is an important outing for him to get on the right track. Now it’s the second baseman, Jonathan India. Fought off foul. Quantrol back to work. Line drive. Base hit. So they get a man aboard with a one out single. The batter number seven that pretty much split the zone down the middle and those are the ones where you got to make them pay. Runner on at first with one gone. Now here’s Bobby Wit Jr. Little Chopper rolls foul. with the tying run on at first and we’re the top half of the six. Runn off down the right side. Keeps the attack going with a foul ball. cuts and misses. It’s a strike out. And Chris, that’s a way to neutralize his speed by keeping him off base. And the defense breathes a sigh relief because he puts pressure on everyone if he can put the ball in play. But that’s how you do it. Keep him off balance, get him out of there, and deal with the next guy. So up now for Kansas City, Vinnie Pasquantino moved first and he’s back in on a dive. I think you want to get a one-way lead. Be very aggressive in the secondary. This hitter, not a power guy, so you want to make sure that you can get some length on the secondary lead and perhaps score a ball in the gap. And that one finds its way through. And now first and second with two outs. Went up there looking to be aggressive and got something he could handle. He kind of rolled over on this pitch a little bit, but he got enough behind it to shoot it through for a knock. And you’ll take that anytime you can get him to find a hole. Now a pretty big at bat coming up with a chance to even this ball game up. First and second, two outs. Now a chance for Mike El Garcia. Ground ball left side and it goes just fouled. India over at second. Pasquantino on first with two down. Just misses the mark outside the zone. That’s a really good take. that one the other way and makes the play and that’s out number three. Royals strand a pair. They trail here one- nothing. Back now for the bottom of the sixth and there’s a new pitcher on the mound. Michael Laorenzan just trying to keep this one close here. And this is where a bullpen can give their players a chance to fight back into the game. Lorenz. So now the D spot, Kyle Stard, one for two. Kyle Stard. That’s in for a strike at 95. It’s 0 and one. Meanwhile, activity in the bullpen. Sam Long, the young lefty, looks to be getting himself ready. text offering upstairs. Hit on the ground to the right side. Steps out first for the out. Now batting shortstop Otto Lopez. Otto Lopez the next up for the Marlins. The shorts stop takes a ball. Base is empty. One away here in the bottom of the sixth. Next one misses. Down 2 and 0. That one to first and that’s just foul. And now two and two. Two two in the count. And they’ll do it again. That one misses and it’s a full count swing and a slow roller. Tosses to first. Two up, two down. The first baseman, number 34, Liam. Liam Hicks getting ready to hit. He’s 0 for one. And first offering is fouled off. Little early on that fast ball. I’m sure the pitcher taking a note. Look for an off speed pitch on this next one. That’s a ball. I got one ball, one strike. And a rope into center field base hit. And that keeps the inning alive right there. Does a great job of staying in the big part of the field. Man, there are a lot of hits there. Myers. Here’s the left fielder, Dane Meyers. Picked up an RBI in his last at bat. Still their only run of the game so far. Swing and a ground ball. And that one gets through into center field. So that’s two straight two out hits. Wastes no time there. Really nice job staying up the middle with his approach. He didn’t try to do too much with the pitch. Just shot it through the infield. Now here is Graham Paulie. That catches the top part of the zone. Strike one. and a strike. Well, this is a higher leverage spot and I love the way that he’s turned things around. He’s got two outs now ahead in this count and he can pretty much dictate what’s going to happen next in terms of the pitch sequence. Fouled off and they’ll do it again. and he couldn’t hold back. He’s rung up on strikes. Marlins strand a pair, but they still lead it one- nothing. Now, pitching forward. Welcome back. We’re in the seventh. We have a new pitcher on the mound, Kane Gibson. These are the spots relievers really make a name for themselves. Late and close. There’s not much margin for error, but at the same time, there’s a reason they’re put in these situations. Salvador Perez steps in for the Royals. Perez. Turned on but foul wide of third. looking to get the tying run on base. And ball one. Late swing. Fouled off. Good job to fight that one off. One and two now. Knocks that one away and we’ll do it again. He’s having a tough time getting a pitch by him. As a hitter, you feel pretty confident that you’re seeing different pitches. Still able to make some type of contact up the middle. The throw to first and they get Perez for the out. That play won’t be trending on social media later on, but it’s still important to execute it to perfection. This game is a lot harder than it looks, partner. Jack Peg Leone steps in for the Royals. Yeah, there’s the strike. Signs of activity in the pen for the Marlins. Calvin Foch, the young right-hander up and throwing. Number 66 also getting ready. Not even close there. And it’s one and one. Holding on to a one-run lead here in the top half of inning number seven. That’s a little bit low. The next pitch misses and the count is three and one. First pitch strike from the pitcher, but then no panic at all by the hitter. Very patient, showing good discipline. Now he’s in the driver’s seat with a 3-1 count. Next offering is in for a strike. That’s a good at bat right there. He was down early in that plate appearance. Works the walk. Opted to go with the off speed stuff on that 32 with the bases empty. Close pitch, but now he’s got to work out of the stretch. Gibson measures 6’2 in 27 years old and he was a 10th round pick in 2022. And that one fouled off. Kaggle Leone at first. One gone. Bounding ball here. rolls foul. Foul ball still 0 and two and just misses with that one. Way to lay off that pitch down. fights it off. He’ll see another ball. Three and two in the dirt. Blocked. No advance. Good job behind the dish. Goes down looking. Well, just couldn’t pull the trigger on the fast ball right there. And I don’t think he was taking it thinking it might be a cold ball or anything. I just think he was flat out frozen. Did not expect that location in my opinion. Freddy Fine the next to hit. That’s inside. Right now they’re looking for something. Hit hard into the gaps. Give them an opportunity with two outs to score that run from first. All right, Miami. He gets there with the slide. Goes to second with it. Wide throw pulls him off the bag and the inning still alive. Oh, things that lead to big innings other than hits or home runs are of course walks and errors. Free base runners and they’ve been gifted with both so far this inning. And that will make any manager in the dugout just stew a little bit. And I’m sure he is right now. So the tying run in scoring position now. Kyle Isbel will hit next. Ball one, no strikes. Homeplayed umpires trying to tighten things up a little bit. And that is out of play. Rolled over to third. Paulie, they get the force. That’s a third out. So they strand a pair midway in inning number seven and it’s time to stretch. It’s the Marlins one and the Royals nothing. We’re back in a new pitcher here to start the bottom of the seventh. Sam Long. Pretty tight game. So they’re looking for quality pitches out of him right here. Got to do his best to keep the score right where it is. Well, one run game at the play. Nick Forz the walk and he’s also single. That one out to right. Kaggleó pulls it down and he makes the catch. One up, one down. Really nice job to get your first down in the ball game. second base. And at the plate for Miami, Xavier Edwards. Edwards. That pitch in for a strike. And one popped foul out of play off to the right. inside and the count is one and two. Swings through it for the K. Chase the fast ball up the ladder for strike three. Thought it was a pretty good pitch. Top of the strike. Seen more fast balls in that location. hitters, especially with two strikes, have to be ready to pull the trigger. Sanchez stands in here, leaves that one off the inside. Two balls, no strikes to count. That clips a corner. That’s inside and the count is three and one. Two down, nobody on here. The bottom of the seventh and that wasn’t even close. Ball four. Focus on the mound right there. pretty much gifted him first base with a quick free pass. And now for the Marlins, Augustine Ramirez 0 for three in this one. And the first pitch misses for ball one. Definitely a swing and miss slider down and in. He finished that really well. Just couldn’t get him to offer at it. Miami. So, two balls and no strikes. Sanchez off of first with two away. And a swing and a miss. As a hitter, you got to learn something from that pitch. You clearly wasn’t timed up on the fast ball. In a 200 count, you have to be ready to do damage. Next offering is fouled back. Let’s go. That’s outside and it’s three and two. 3-2, two out, runner on first. Lot of movement in the infield. Hitter’s got to stay focused on the pitch. spoils a two- strike pitch and he’ll see another. Two outs. Swinging a foul ball at the plate. They’ll do it again. Battling here as he fouls it away. gets a piece and stays alive. So now two on and two outs. When you go that deep into an at bat, the hitter usually comes out top. The designated hitter. And now the DH Kyle Starders one for three. And the first offering is not close. Maybe losing command a little bit after the walk. Next pitch not even close. Two on, two outs. Gets the call. And one and one. Out to center is Bell. And the inning is over. Welcome back and a new arm on the mound to start the eighth. Calvin Foscher and he’s done a great job keeping the ball in the park this year. The numbers stack up with some of the best in the game. Jonathan India steps in for the Royals. Second baseman, Jonathan India. And that’s through there for a strike. Go and one. There’s the strike. Line drive. That’s a base hit and the tying run is on base. I’d say a mistake pitch in an 02 count. Too good of a pitch to hit right there. You have to expand the zone. Keep that lead off man off first base. No outs. Runner at first. And now Bobby Wit Jr. This guy is one of the best athletes in the sport. And it’s fouled off with the go ahead run at the plate and we’re in the top of the eighth. Pickoff move to first and he dives back in safely. Hey, foul ball. It stays nothing and two. The shorts stop takes the ball. That misses and the count now even up. Ground ball could be two. Here’s Edwards for one. Back to first. And that is a double play. Oh man, what a smooth double play. That was a thing of beauty from start to finish. And next up for the Royals, Vinnie Pasquantino in the dirt. And that’s ball one. that one fouled off. Two down to falling behind two and one. Close pitch there and he’s kind of wondering where it missed. You know, getting a feel for each umpire strike zone is something that pitchers and hitters really have to think about and work on from game to game and sometimes from at bat to at bat. And that’s outside and that’s ball three. Mikel Garcia in the on deck circle hoping to get a chance to make a big impact here. Late swing fouled to the left. And the tying run is on base. What a battle. It’s not always easy laying off a 3-2 pitch. And I tell you what, he earned that wall. Garcia. So, two down and next will be the cleanup hitter, Mikel Garcia. Yeah, the pitch is in for a strike and it’s all in one. Well, with the tying run at first base, he’s looking for something he can get a lot of barrel on. Drive it into a gap and score that run from first base. Nope. One and one. ripped into right center for a base hit. Lead runner hangs on it second as a potential tying run moves into scoring position. Always feels amazing getting a job done when the team needs you to come through. It’s just bigger than your own individual stats. Really good swing right there. You got a pitch that he knew he could handle. allowed himself to stay back just a tad bit longer and he hit the ball on the screws. A chance now to even the score and maybe extend this game and here is Salvador Perez. Base hit into the outfield runner around third on his way to the plate. He’ll score easily. It’s an RBI single and a big two out hit and the game is tied. Tag out. They cut down the go-ahead run at the plate. They limit the damage here, but they’re able to even it up here in the late innings. Home half of inning number eight straight ahead. All tied 1-1. Now pitching forward back now. New pitcher on the mound as we roll into the bottom of the eighth. Lucas and he’s been really shutting down hitters from the right side of the plate this year. Not a lot of hard contact, not a lot of hits period. And at the plate for Miami, Otto Lopez. And that’s in for a strike. 0 and one. That was absolute gas. Triple digits on the gun. It’s just a different experience as a hitter watching that go by. And that one missing low. Right side. One away. The first baseman number 34 Liam Liam Hicks the next up for the Marlins and a miss. There’s the slider. It’s 0 and one activity in the Kansas City bullpen. Taylor Clark up and throwing. Shriber getting loose as well. And fouled off. 0 and two now. And that one is inside. I don’t think he was trying to miss by that much in an 02 count. Just tried to overthrow that registers the punch out and hits 101. Now batting the left and now Dane Meyers. Meers and a first pitch fast ball is in for a strike. Next offering is fouled back. All tied up here in the bottom half of the eighth inning. Miami pitch misses now. What you two outs bows it off. Still one and two. cut on and missed and it’s a strikeout and that is the inning and the Marlins down quietly. Still tied 1-1 now pitching for back now and on the mound the closer Ronnie Enriquez. Well, he’s got electric stuff coming out of the pin. His strikeout rate though is through the roof so far this season. Now it’s the right fielder, Jack. Number 14, Jack Kaggleo outside with a breaking ball. Two balls, no strike. And a foul ball. Makes the count two and one. And that one clips the corner. Got him looking. and a strike out for the first out here in the ninth. Well, I think that was just a case of a hitter quitting on a pitch. He was looking fast ball and didn’t see it out of the hand and just left the bat on his shoulder. That was a change up right over the plate. Probably not the location he was looking for, but the change of speeds is what fooled him and he got the out. Ray in the box now. Takes strike one. One down, base is empty on the ground out to short. Fires across the diamond and that quickly two away. Number 32, Freddy Fine. And to the plate for Kansas City, Freddy Fine. Swinging a foul straight back. Two down, nobody on. You’re in the top of the ninth. Swing and a line drive. That’s a base hit into right field. Just a cookie down the middle. I mean, those are the ones you dream about. Once in the cage, you’re just hoping you get in the ball game. Right down the middle. Not a whole lot of velocity. Right on top of it. Kyle Isbel steps in for the Royals. 0 for three with two strikeouts and a ground out. First pitch misses. popped up to the left into foul ground and that’s the third out. No runs, one hit, no errors and a man left. 891 do up in the bottom of inning number nine. All tied 1-1. Back now as they hand the ball to a fresh arm to start the bottom of the ninth. John Shriber, left-handed batter at the plate and he’s been excellent in those matchups this year. So, this seems like a calculated move. Paulie up to bat next. Lays off for a ball. Movement in the bullpen. Carlos Estz, the closer is getting loose. Swing and a miss. Looked off balance that time. This guy’s got such a good sinker. As a hitter, you’ve got to look up in the zone. If you look down, you’re going to be chasing stuff in the dirt. Fights that one away. Still one and two. Hacks and misses. It’s a strikeout. And now here is Nick Forez. There’s the strike. One’s the count. Next offering misses. And now it’s even one and one. Oh, that’s inside. Next offering miss is down the way. Xavier Edwards in the on deck circle hoping to get a chance to make a big impact here. Base is empty, one away. We’re in the last half of the ninth inning. fouls one away and now three and two. Swing and a ball lifted in the air. Shallow right field. Lunch in but it gets down. There you go. Winning runs aboard with one down. You know what they say, he couldn’t have thrown it out there any better than that. And certainly the case that time. just flared it back behind the second baseman and dropped it in there. Here in the bottom of the ninth, one out. Now it’s the Marlins leadoff hitter, Xavier Edwards. And the first pitch misses for ball one. swing and a miss as he was out front that time. One down, winning run on first. Went with the sweeper for the strike. And that just misses. I don’t know how you take that one after the called strike on the corner. Just a little bit off the edge on this count. Runner not known for his speed, but I think you got to put him in motion. Try to avoid a double play here. Boo. Rip to right. And this one looks like trouble. Lead runner makes the turn at second. in safely with a double, his second of the day. Oh, this has been a really nice game at the plate for him. He looks locked in. That’s a good sound coming off the bat, man. And as he connected out front and lifted into the outfield, that’s one of those swings where you just don’t even feel the ball hit the barrel. That’s a pure stroke. Winning run in scoring position now. So, a clutch AB could end this one. And now, Jesus Sanchez slug on. Belted is belt trying to get to it. In comes the winning run and they walk it off. Well, you’re coming to the ninth inning. It’s a tie ball game. No one really wants to play extras. So, everyone’s looking at how we can get this game over with in regulation. Well, they got the run they needed. Put one up and they put one in the win column. And your final score here today, 2-1 for Chris Singleton and our entire crew. I’m John Shami saying so long. What the heat?
