Philip Rivers Retires As A Charger | LA Chargers

I’m Philip Rivers, quarterback, and I’m retiring a Charger. I think gratitude really is the first thing that comes to mind. One of the greatest games of his generation. So many highlights and fun Sundays. Philip Rivers just rifted. So many. But what I miss and what I’m most appreciative and thankful for are those relationships on the 52, the things that were behind the scenes. The Chargers are alive. What you lived every day, it’s the days uh at Murphy Canyon. Come back. Come back on the practice field. What time? Oh yeah. You miss those moments. Hey team, baby team. Oh, you’re going to get me going. Um, I picture riding down that hill, you know, in the Qualcom, you know, and you just go like, man, shoot, they’re they’re fired up today and seeing the flags and seeing the, you know, smoke from the grills going and stuff. That just never got old, you know. That never got old. Um, uh, dang. I didn’t expect to get [Music] just growing up in the in the yard playing the game. I just love to love to play, love to compete. And so I that part never left me. Good night. Good night to There are some uh clips that I look at and just shake my head. 90 yard touchdown. And then some I go, dang, that was a lot of fun. I’m just having fun. Yeah. Is there an edgginess to it? You know, are you trying to get under the skin of the opponent? Of course. Is there some of it that’s just a lot of fun? Again, it’s in the backyard. Rivers gives to Sprouls. That home Colts playoff game. Chargers win. He got it. I left slot 30 ISO walk-off. That moment was dang. I mean like you I can I can get there in a hurry. I even 06 Cincinnati Bengle come back. Incredible. Unbelievable. The the big win in 13 at Denver touchdown on a Thursday night 2018 in Arrowhead. Mike catching the back to back, you know, the touchdown on the back shoulder and then the two-point play. They left him wide open. Goes fast. I’m thankful to have had guys like Nick Hardwick and Chris Dilman and Jeremy Clary and and Marcus McNeel and and Mike Goff and these guys, they really cared about me. Like you I mean they actually really genuinely wanted to keep me clean. They took it personal if I was getting just drilled under the chin. Like it they were they were upset cuz I always wanted to be tough like the offensive line. I didn’t want to let those guys down. Ain’t no way. Ain’t no way. [Music] Y’all are something now. Dang. He already got me a new truck, brother. And now y’all’s doing this. Golly. Yes, sir. Yes, sir. What’s up, baby? Hey, man. Good to see you, bro. Golly, had me in here, boss. was balling crying about two minutes ago and then y’all came. Yeah. All right. I can still go. It better be longer than a day now. To Dean Spanos and the Spanos family for believing in a small town kid and from North Alabama by way of Raleigh and NC State. You know, having you retired Charger man, it means the world to us as an organization. We’re just so grateful. and a quarterback from North Carolina State. And here’s a Philip Rivers era beginning number 17. Touchdown. Touchdown Chargers Philip Rivers. Thankful for those 16 years and for and trusting me to to be the quarterback and uh certainly never took it for granted. Come on, keep fighting. Just keep fighting. I never took it for granted. Getting uh suit up and and and and lead the Chargers for shoot 240 something games in a row. Let’s take a break on that. Golly. [Music]

  1. I have to be honest, I love Rivers way more than Herbert, and I think despite the massive physical advantage that Herbert has, Rivers is the better QB. Herbert has me nervous in a way Rivers never did.

  2. Going from Rivers to Herbo was a huge change for me. Nothing against Herbo either he’s a legend in the making, but it hurt seeing Rivers go. This made up for it a bit. We’ll never forget you Phil. I’m glad you retired as a charger ⚡️👊

  3. You're my all time favorite NFL player man. Thanks for shaping my journey as a Chargers fan and for all you did for this franchise. Bolt up! ⚡️💛💙

  4. If you’re a charger fan and don’t tear up watching that, you’re not an actual charger fan. That is a tearjerker forsure 🥹😭 thank you Phil 🙏 We will always love you.

  5. As a life long packers fan You were a true gem to the Game. Its never easy to leave what you live for. Nothing but love Rivers. ❤Thank you for bringing out the best in the rest

  6. Forever a Chargers legend. Miss how you talk trash. No one else did it better, especially when you didn’t even cuss at them ⚡️⚡️

  7. This was great. I watched Philip Rivers whole career. All these games shown here I watched them and brought me so show much joy and laughter. It was a privilege to watch you #17 thank you! Love you bro

  8. Congrats Rivers!! You the man! Charger almost had me back with this video but as long as their LA chargers they can stay up there with the Dodgers. This San Diego baby!

  9. I became a Chargers fan in 2005, this man was the leader of my favorite sports team as I grew up. The joy, the pain, and the tears I shed with this team,. He is by far my favorite player, and I am a proud Philip Rivers and Chargers fan. I hope one day he coaches the team. Thank you Philip, you are the GOAT in my eyes.

  10. Not a Chargers fan but DEFINITELY a Phil Rivers fan. Even after Eli Manning basically "destiny swapped" with him by taking the Giants, he still elevated his franchise like a true leader. He's never gotten enough credit. We love you man. You woulda gotten New York waaaayyyy more rings.

  11. 1 Corinthians 15:1-4
    King James Version
    15 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;

    2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.

    3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;

    4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
