Cardinals vs. Rockies Game Highlights (7/21/25) | MLB Highlights

Austin Gumbumber, the former Cardinal getting the ball for the Rockies. And when you look at his season RA 565, still looking for that first win. He’ll start with Brenda Donovan on the ground towards second. That’ll sneak past Amodore. And Brendan Donovan has a leadoff single. And here’s Ivon Herrera. Swing and a shot over short. Another two strike Cardinal hit. Donovan’s going to tag and move up. The Cardinals have him with the corners, but now there are two outs. And the crowd will react with Nolan Aronado coming up and this ball is hit to right field. Moniaak starting back comes in and the first two men reached. No problem though for Austin Gobbers. He gets three fly balls. It keeps St. Louis off the board. Well, the last time this young man threw a pitch in the major leagues for the Cardinals was June 24th and Michael McGrevy faced the Chicago Cubs. He’s facing the Rockies again here at Kors Field in an important start for him and for the club. Mickey Monia leads it off. Moniaak rips a ball through the hole on the right side. That’s a base hit. Ezekiel Tobar will bat. He lays down a bunt. It’s a beauty. McGrevy though with a terrific play. Runner advances to second with one out on a sacrifice. So here’s Hunter Goodman. Rocky’s chance to do early damage. And on the ground to third, Aronado’s got it. His long throw to first is in plenty of time. Big pitch by McGrevy. Two outs on the ground to second and McGrevy’s going to be out of this. Both clubs had chances in the first inning. Neither break through. And we head to the second inning. Jordan Walker will bat. He goes fast ball strike three at the knees inside corner. Gets to him is hit to center. Well struck racing back. Doyle is going to catch up with this and make the grab. Good inning again for Austin Gumber. One, two, three. Swan. McMahon leads off for the Rockies. And that’s a good start as he rips it to right. Here’s Brentton Doyle. And it’s back through the middle. A base hit. See if McMahon can get to third. He will. Really good read by McMahon. Runners at the corners and nobody out. Yon Fernandez now the DH tonight. Runner takes off and the tag applied in time. A terrific catch on a throw that was tailing toward the first base side of the bag. Brentton Doyle gunned down. This one chopped toward Short on contact. Runner coming home and the tag in time. Mason Win shows off his arm and guns down McMahon who broke with the crack of the bat. Orlando RC up there with a man at first and two down. The 3-2 pitch is hit in the air left side of the infield. Mason Win moves behind Aronado. He’s in the sunfield and he makes the catch behind third base and the inning comes to a close. An elador and then the top of the order. This is sliced to left and it’s going to drop for a base hit. So that’s three straight innings, but the Rocky’s leadoff man has singled cuz Mickey Monia stands in. Confidence is at an alltime high and this is a broken bat single. Good read by Alvador. They go first to third and it’s over. Center field by Scott Aador is going to come home. Safe, but the Rockies take a one- nothing lead. He didn’t hesitate going around second. Didn’t hesitate going around third. Saw the ball not grasped by Scott. Rockies on the board first. One- nothing Colorado. And here is Hunter Goodman with that man at second. One down. The pitch and a line drive up the middle. It’s in center. It’s a base hit. It will score a run. Moniac will score without a throw. RBI single for Hunter Goodman. Rockies able to tack on. Two nothing Colorado. There’s a line drive to Mason Win over the second for the force out over the first for the double play. So the Cardinals give up a couple of runs in the inning. We go to the fourth. That brings up Contras the club leader in RBI’s. Contraras first pitch drives this one a mile high to left center and gone. It’s a 2-1 game. A towering home run for Contras. He now leads the club with number 13. Now, Chip, that’s answering back for Contras. 110 mph off the bat. 443 happy feet for Contras. His 56th RBI. And now the Cardinals within one as Nolan Aronado stands in. There’s a shot the other way for Aronado on Q. He’s going to pick up a double here for the Cardinals. their second extra base hit of the inning. And that’ll bring up Mason Win. He’s kind of warming up a little bit. He’s found himself a little bit of a hit streak going. This would be a very good time for him to drive in a run. Scorches toward third. That’s headed for the corner. That’s going to tie the game. Backto back doubles for the Cardinals. Mason wins 33rd RBI. We got a two-2 score. Well, it seemed like Contraras home run really unlocked the Cardinal offense. Backto back doubles. Nolan Aronado. And here’s Mason Win. New life for the Cardinals. We’re tied at two. Swung on a miss. Big strike out for Gber for the second out. Now the infield can drop back. Now Gber fires. Swing and a miss. Ball gets away from Goodman. He’ll pick it up. Throw to first in time. And Austin Gomeber after giving up the tying runs comes up big. The pitch, curveball swing and a miss. Might have been foul tip but right into the glove of Hunter Goodman. Cardinal leadoff batter Brendan Donovan who has singled that stroke the other way down the line that’s headed for the corner. That’s a fair ball that’ll bounce off the side wall and Brendan Donovan with an opposite field double. He’s got another multi-hit game and he represents the go-ahead run. 3-2 another strike out for Gber and Wilson Contrus who homered just last inning will bat again. First pitch to him is hit into left field for a hit. Donovan’s rounding third base. He’s going to score. The throw comes into second base and it’s 32 Cardinals. Second RBI of the game for Wilson Contrarus. He delivers with two outs. Pitch swing and a miss. Ball in the dirt. Goodman throws it to first. That will end the inning. And McGrevy is setting the tone. Another shut down inning. He’s set down seven in a row. A one, two, three inning for McGrevy. Aronado at the plate. No strikeouts in 36 consecutive play appearances. A drive to left. That ball right on the barrel. Aronado’s got a two-h hit game. Jordan Walker bats. Runner goes. Pitch dropped by Goodman. And Aronado pulls out a surprise party. He steals his second base of the season. Little chopper hit toward third. That’ll stay fair at the bag. Good play. McMahon, but Walker outruns it. And how about Aronado’s base running. And the Cardinals have runners at the corners. And the next hitter, Pedro Pahes. Next pitch to him is a little looper into right field. That’s a hit. Just puts it in play. Walker Brown second base. He’s headed to third. Pedro Pahes with his 29th RBI of the season. And now it’s four to two St. Louis. Victor Scott and Alec Berles. The only Red Birds without hits. Now a bunt. It’s a good one. Race to the bag at first and safe. The Rockies had two defenders at the first base bag and Arcia caught the ball in front of the bag and couldn’t get Victor. And now St. Louis has the bases loaded and the top of the order coming up. And he hits that ball in the air to right center field. He got a lot of that. Backing up is the center fielder to the track. He makes the play. Everybody tagging up. All three runners. Jordan Walker scores from third. The Cardinals add another run on the sacrifice fly by Brendan Donovan. The Grievy to the bag and he’s got his second straight one, two, three inning. Wilson so far has driven in two runs tonight. Five RBI since June 21st. He’s got two tonight. He’s got three hits. All he needs is the triple for the cycle. He’s homered, he’s singled, he’s doubled. That one chopped off his foot. That one got him flush. And Berles really hobbling around. One ball, two strikes and Berles chased and he’s down swinging. We’ll see if he can continue. Remember, he’s playing left field. And with the lead late, I would guess he may be done for the night. Well, I love the approaches at the plate in this game. And the Cardinals have him loaded again. And that’ll bring Jordan Walker to the plate on the ground through for a base hit. One run scores. Jordan Walker with an RBI single that scores Contrarus. It’s a 6-2 game. Tyler Kinley on for his 46th appearance. Kenny will get a right-handed hitter. Pedro Pahz. He goes fast ball. That’s strike three. And this is popped up shallow left. Beck will get there though. And that ends the inning. Garrett Hson as we presume takes over in left field for Alec Berles. Yeah, here he is. drop for a single. So that ends the stretch of 11 in a row set down by McGrevy. Two outs for McGrevy. Here’s Orlando Arcia. He swings and grounds one up the middle. That’s the Mason win. He throws it over to Brendan Donovan for the force out to retire the Colorado Rockies. And the last hope for the Rockies, Young Fernandez. Hey, struck him out and the Cardinals with a very impressive 6-2 win in Colorado.

  1. Fans think we're bad? JULYING !!!!! UNDISPUTED Manager of the Year Oliver Jose Marmol and his St. Louis Cardinals (the GREATEST team in the league) will be the HOTTEST team since All-Star Break. The squad will go 113-49, TAKE the NL Central, MAKE the postseason once again and in three/four months (depending on when the games are in October/November), HOIST a World Series trophy for an unprecedented TWELFTH time!

OH SNAP … A FILTHY #SCTOP10 double play in the bottom of the third inning as shortstop Masyn Blaze Winn FIRED to second baseman Brendan Michael Donovan who then HURLED to a teammate at first base. That PROVES the STL is not only the best offensively, but defensively, too!

A SUPERB top of the fourth inning. First, a teammate starts the offense by hitting a home run to left center field. Then, Masyn Blaze Winn, the 23-year-old from Katy, Texas, SMASHES an RBI double to left field, driving in Nolan James Arenado!

A teammate hits an RBI single to left field, bringing in Brendan Michael Donovan, in the top of the fifth inning.

I have GOOSEBUMPS after that top of the sixth inning! To kick it off, Pedro José Pagés, the 26-year-old from Maracay, Venezuela, RIPS an RBI single to right field, sending Nolan James Arenado to the plate. Afterwards, Brendan Michael Donovan, the 28-year-old from Würzburg, Germany, NOTCHES the crucial sacrifice fly to center field to bring in Jordan Alexander Walker!

Jordan Alexander Walker, DO YA THING … In the top of the seventh inning, the 23-year-old from Stone Mountain, Georgia, SMOKES an RBI single to left field to drive in a teammate.

Peeps, let's give a BIG hand to Michael Steven McGreevy! The 25-year-old from San Clemente, California, was JAW-DROPPING all evening with ONE big strikeout. CAP TIPS go to Joseph Abel "Jojo" Romero and Phillip Louis Maton, both part of the best bullpen in the league, for the SENSATIONAL defense!

    TIME TO FLY !!!!!!!!!!!!!! #12in25 #STLFLY
