MLB LIVE🔴 New York Mets vs Los Angeles Angels – Jul 22, 2025 | Full Game MLB 2025 EN VIVO
Hello baseball fans and welcome inner league baseball on MLB the show. It’s the Los Angeles Angels going up against the New York Mets. And now first pitch coming at you right after the break. New York Nets just about to get started and on the hill number 82. But Chris, he hasn’t exactly been stellar here on his home mound. Well, I’ll say this, every player wants to perform well at their home ballpark in front of their fans, in front of the city. And you know, this guy no different. He wants to be more effective here. So, you know, you look at the numbers, they haven’t been great at home. I’m sure he wants to turn that around and we’ll see if he’s able to start that in this one. So, in now for the Angels, Zack Neto. Not even close there. And we’re underway from Queens. The lefty, the one swinging a foul out of play. falling behind two and one. It’s just the third pitch of the night and already a little question on the strike zone of the umpire in this one. Swinging a miss and the count is even. Two and two. I think he was sitting off speed there and he hits a ground ball right side. McNeel gets to first. One up, one down. All right, let’s take a look at the Angels lineup. A really frustrating showing for them in their last game. Lots of traffic on the bases, but they left a ton of runners on base. Couldn’t cash in their chances, Chris. They had plenty of chances. There’s nobody to blame it on but themselves offensively. They just did a poor job converting in those situations. You have to figure out what’s your plan going to be. Maybe watch some tape from the last game. Make the adjustment. So if you get those opportunities in this one, you’ve got a much better chance of scoring some runs. Nolan Shadowwell batting with one down, takes a strike. That’s through there for a strike. Well, as a hitter, you’re hoping that the command on that sinker doesn’t come until later in the ball game. But if that’s how it’s going to be all day, it’s going to be a tough one for the offense. Slider got him for a strike three. Well, that pitch wasn’t even close to being a strike. And that just goes to show you how defensive hitters can become when they’re up against an 02 count. You’re just hoping for a mistake somewhere near the zone that you can get the bat to. But right there, he was clearly anxious. He was swinging when the ball left the hand. Next offering is down low. Two balls, no strike. That one the other way. and foul ball. Well, they gave up on that pitch early and it ended up staying in the zone. I’m sure he’s kicking himself and would like that pitch again. Fouls one off. Two and two. Two down to and that one missing low. Really good take especially with two strikes. swinging a chopper out to short. Oh, look at the stop. Got him. A beautiful play to end the inning. This guy’s anticipation is off the charts. Don’t see many shorts stops better than that. Great job to complete the play and end the inning. Back here with my pal Sigi and today’s starter, Ryan Zephr John. Chris, he’s got the ability to take control of a game when he’s out there. Well, incredible mound presence and he’s going to attack hitters. You look at that strike out for nine ratio over 10 coming into this start. So, he’s a pitcher that wants the ball. He’s aggressive. He knows that he can get the swing and miss, especially when he needs it most. We’ll see how effective he is in this one. Francisco Lindor the leadoff batter as he looks at ball one check swing and he went and the count one and one good zip on that fast ball at the bottom of the zone. If he’s there all day, it’s going to be a tough one for the hitters. [Music] Two balls, one strike. [Music] Grout ball right side on to first. One gone. Bottom half of the first. Batting second. Here’s the men’s lineup now. And an important bat for them. Batting fifth in this one. Brandon NMO. Well, right in the middle of this lineup and that’s exactly where he belongs. I mean, he’s there for a reason. Boo. This guy, they know they can rely on him and he’s a force, a presence there that, you know, puts a little trepidation in that opposing pitcher. We’ll see what kind of impact he has in this one. Mark Vientos stands in here, leaves that one off the inside, and the one miss is low. Swanging a ball drilled center field. Adele moves under it. They got it for out number two. Betting third. Right fielder Juan Sto. Two outs. Space is empty. Wanoto now. Another solid power season. Right down to shoot. Strike one. There it was. Oh, here it is. Hit it. He gets a take. Gets ahead in the count. Swinging a miss. And it’s on two. More and more guys are looking to slug regardless of the count. And this situation will keep a close eye on his approach. That one drilled left field. Ward ranging back. Get out of town. His second homer this series. It’s one- nothing. He absolutely feasts on right-handed pitching and devours that one for a homer. And you can see that’s what he expects of himself at bat after at bat. He’s that confident. What I love about this swing is he stayed tall, allowed his hands to go directly to the baseball, letting that bat head get down through the ball to create bat spin and hit it out of the ballpark. Really nice job. [Applause] Base is empty with two away. So up next for New York, Pete Alonzo. And that’s through there for a strike. And it’s 0 and one. Two out. Space is empty. And that gets the top of the zone for a strike. Looked pretty good as far as being in the strike zone, but I’m sure as a hitter not too good with where it was located. Very top of the strike zone. Middle away. [Applause] hacks and misses. It’s a strikeout. Mets draw first blood thanks to this solo homer. It’s now one- nothing. You’re watching Major League Baseball exclusively on the show. Top of the second and now it’s the Angels clean up. Taylor Ward. This has been a career year for him when it comes to driving in runs. Ward needs just one more homer to reach 100 in the big leagues. Now a fly ball to right center. Soda racing over to make the catch. That’s just a really nice catch on the run right there. He saved extra bases for sure. The pitcher’s his friend. He’ll give him a second to catch his breath before he’s ready to deal the next pitch. Yeah, and making it to 100 homers would be quite the career accomplishment for him. Out of the more than 20,000 players to take an at bat in the majors, less than 5% have ever hit 100 dingers. The pitch drilled in the air high and deep right field. That’s back there and out of here. He sends one out the opposite way. His 21st of the year. It’s 1-1. Change up in the zone is a hitter’s dream. It’s a BP fast ball, but you’re playing in real time. Most times the pitcher’s asking for a new baseball just like right there. So it’s all tied up thanks to the home run. Jorge Solair up at the plate. Pitch misses there. Ball one. Solair batting sixth in today’s lineup and he was born in Cuba. [Applause] Hey Daryl Parker assigned to umpiring duty behind home plate. And boo with DP. It’s sort of a coin flip on those borderline corner pitches. Doesn’t really favor one side of the plate more than the other. Sometimes you’ll get a little extra the plate and sometimes you won’t. It does seem like he evens it out over the course of a game though. Sodto hauls it in for the two away. Singing. What kind of strike zone is most frustrating for hitters? I’d say off the plate, away and down. And why? Those are the toughest locations to hit the baseball. Logan O’H takes outside. Nasty back door slider. There’s really nothing you can do with that if you swing at it. So, it’s a good take by him. And misses inside. As the game has moved along, we see more and more information supplied by teams about the umpires. I’ve been in clubous where they have pictures of all four guys, nicknames, hometowns, and as well hobbies listed just so you can kind of small talk the umpire a little bit. That’s great. And he walked him for take. Oh, that’s a really good take right there. And that’s just mentally prepared knowing that if it’s not on the T, you’re going to take that pitch because you still have one more strike to work with. Not easy to lay off, but he did an excellent job in that fight appearance. Luis Rangifo at the plate now. That’s ball one. [Applause] Check swing. Did he go? Yes, he did. I got one ball, one strike. Two gone, but the go-ahead run is at first here in the top of the second. [Music] misses just off the outside edge. I think that was a strike. [Applause] Had a good eye there. [Applause] So now two on and two outs. So here we go again with the walks. It’s been a real struggle finding the zone for him in the past. Now even if they get out of this jam, these walks add pressure and stress to the entire team. The batter now Kevin Newman. First pitch just misses. Two on, two outs. [Applause] And that one fouled off. [Applause] Fouled off. He was late. [Applause] Two on, two outs. Highf fly ball lifted into year right field. And that’s the third out. Angels get one with a solo homer. All even at one a piece. You’re watching Major League Baseball on the show. Back here in Queens. Bottom half of inning number two. And stepping in for New York. Brandon NMO. That’s inside. And that is ball one. There’s a swing and a try and that’s got extra bases written all over it. Now he’ll turn for second and he’s got a leadoff double. Everything came together perfectly for him right there. A well-deserved double on a great swing. Got everything going on time. He stayed balanced and he squared it up about as well as you could possibly ask. Runner in scoring position. No outs. Ronnie Mauricio. Now he swings and misses at the first pitch. 0 and one. swing and a ball lined out towards center. Adele makes the grab and there’s one away. Batting seven, second baseman, Jeff McNeel. And now here’s Jeff McNeel. Let’s go. [Applause] First pitch doesn’t find the zone. [Applause] And another ball and [Applause] next pitch is downstairs. One out and a runner at second. Bottom half of inning number two. Jack Swain called strike and the count is three and one. And ball four, two aboard. Batting eight center, two on, one out. And next for the Mets, Tyrone Taylor. Good defender. He’s been inconsistent offensively. Off the mark there. And that’s ball one. [Applause] Two on, one out. And that one misses up and in. Now two and0. Good spot for the hitter. Definitely has the advantage in this count with runners on. Look for him to be aggressive on this next pitch. Highfly ball out to left field. Ward settles underneath it, brings it in. Two down. Just pulled off of it a little bit right there. That front shoulder coming open instead of staying closed. If he does that, he’s going to be able to go up the middle the other way with some authority instead of a fly out to left. Luis Torren now at the plate inside. One and0. Boo. He never moved cuz he never had time to. But that kind of velocity, you’d prefer that pitcher work away. [Applause] Next offering is in for a strike. That’s good pitch there. Really had some run and finished little up and end just on the edge. And that’s one of those if you swing at it, he had a broken bat as you jog back to the dugout. tied up here in the early going. And that drops in for a strike. Two two down. [Applause] Foul ball. Another 2-2 upcoming. [Applause] And it’s fouled off. They’ll do it again. [Applause] Line to left and that’s a fair ball. Runner around third. He’ll score easily. A perfect example right there. That play discipline. It pays off. The deeper he gets into account, the more comfortable he becomes, and he usually wins the battle. Francisco Lindor comes up to the plate, grounded out his first time, hit in the air out to center field. Adele settles under it, and that ends the inning, but they pick up one run on the RBI single, and it’s now a two-1 ball game. It’s Major League Baseball and it’s on the show. Back here at City Field, all set for the start of the inning. Now it’s the Angels leadoff man, Zack Neto, just off the inside edge. Fouled off left side. swings and misses and a count two. The shorts stop takes the ball. Lifted in the air out to left. Pulls it down and he makes the catch. One away. Good pitch. He just kind of had him out in front on that pitch away and wasn’t able to stay close. Angels the next to hit for the Angels. His first at bat was a strike out and a strike on the outside edge. And it’s even up. One out. Base is empty. That one’s in there. One and two. Two strikes to a guy who’s already 0 for one with a punch out. The only guy in the lineup with that strike out, but you can’t get too relaxed. You still got to make good pitches to get him out. Misses the countdown. Two and two. Caught a break right there. Pretty good pitch on the outside corner. That one misses. Counts full. Three and two. He should get a pretty good pitch to hit here with the three-hole hitter coming up if he’s walked. Swing and a highf fly ball out towards right center field and makes the grab and there’s two away. Now batting designated hitter Mike Trout. And now batting Mike Trout grounded out to short in his first trip. He is quite an athlete. I mean, you look around the other sports, basketball, football, you feel like he could thrive in one of those sports, too. Swinging a ground ball and it goes just foul. And that’s downstairs. And that’s ball one. That one missed. Rocketed out towards right center. Soda snags it and that’ll do it. Angels held in check and our score remains 2-1. And we’re back. And now it’s Mark Bentos. ated hitter Mark Ventos. Zephr John back to work. That’s in for a strike. [Applause] Right through there for a strike. Quickly down 02 in the count. I think you got to choke up a little bit. Spread out the feet. You don’t know what the velocity or the location of this next pitch is going to be. Pitch misses there. Going to count one and two in the air. Foul off first. Shadow makes the catch and there’s one gone. Now batting right fielder Juan Sto. And now it’s Wanoto. He’s already homered here in this one. And that is out of play. Swing and a popup. Foul territory for the catcher. has room and he makes the catch. Now batting first baseman Pete Alonszo. Two down, base is empty. Pete Alonzo up now for the Mets. Struck out swinging his first time. That one outside and it’s one and0. swings through that high fast ball. Well, you know, this guy wants a pitch up, something that he can hit hard and drive over the wall. But you’ve got to set your sights down a little bit. You can’t lose your discipline and go after a pitch that you just can’t do anything with. Squeezes it and that is that. And the Mets go down one, two, three as they’re unable to add to their 2-1 lead. And welcome back to the ballpark. Now the leftielder Taylor Ward. He’s sitting on 99 career homers. We’ll see if this is the moment to notch number 100. And there’s the strike. You know, these Angels do a great job, Boo, of just waiting for the right pitch to come their way. And I’m seeing very patient bats out of him. He’s only given up one run, but the starter’s pitch count is starting to get up there and that might be the best news yet for this offense. Fights that one away and the count remains 0 and two. You know, sometimes all it takes is getting to the next arm before an offense does any damage and that might be the case today. Swing and a miss. Adam out front for the strike out. He’s really good hitting the baseball the other way. So, credit the pitcher for having him out in front of that pitch. Clearly, he had him fooled. Here’s Joe Adele. He’s already homered in this game. Outside ball one. outside with a breaking ball. Well, usually a high level of confidence when you’re facing a young pitcher out there on the mound in this situation ahead 200. He’s put himself in a really good spot. There’s his swing and a miss. Well, he came right at him right there. Challenged him with the two fast ball. Not sure exactly what he was looking for, but got to imagine that’s a confidence booster on the mound. You’re in that hitter’s head a little bit. The Angels trailing by a run. Top half of inning number four. The next offering misses and the count’s full. Now what is inside ball four? And I mean, oh, so close. Didn’t miss by much right there. just couldn’t get the call off the inside corner. Man at first with one gone. And the batter now, Jorge Solair. He’s 0 for one. That’s a bullet, but it goes foul. That one hit to right. Sodto gets under it, makes the grab, and there’s two down. Now batting catcher Logan Ohappy. Here’s the Angels catcher Logan Ohappy walked his first time. Let’s go, New York. off the plate and that is ball one swing and he breaks his bat toss to Alonzo. That’s out number three. Angels leave one. They’re down two to one. Back here in Queens, bottom four. Here’s Brandon NMO. Left fielder. Brandon NMO. Let’s go. Swing. A highf fly ball. Hit the air left center field. This one’s got a chance. High bounce takes it over the fence for an automatic double. That ball exploded off his bat and off the warning track as well as it bounced over the fence. And it sounded really good, too. Just put together a really nice swing and just missed a home run. Now Ronnie Mauricio, he’s 0 for one. Just missed. Well, these Mets showing great discipline at the plate and patience definitely seems to be the name of their game in this one. They’re doing a good job of working the pitch count and they’ve been able to push a couple of runs across to score as well. Slapped foul. Still relatively early, but with a pair of runs already on the board, the ripple effect of that high pitch count might set him up to do more damage later in this game. Chick swing tried to hold up. Now it appeal to third. Nope, he held back. The count two and one and there’s a fly ball deep right field and it’s a one hopper off the wall. Should be extra bases. One comes in from second. It’s 3-1. That’s two consecutive extra base hits for this team. When you connect and it jumps off your bat like that, you’re thinking double at the very least. Put a great swing on it and man, he wasn’t fooled at all. manager out of the dugout now and it looks like we’ll see a change on the mound. Ryan Zephr John is done and a decent effort considering he’s normally a reliever. Back with the new pitcher in a minute. Now pitching for number 39 comes on now. That’s a big potential run out there at second as he comes in trying to keep the deficit where it is for the infielders. They got to be thinking about keeping the ball from getting by them into the outfield any way they can. Jeff McNeel stands in. Work to walk in his first trip to the plate in the air left field down the line and it stays fair. They extend their lead as the runner scores from second. It’s an RBI single and they’re up by three. Well done. Drives in the run. Just a blue pit behind third right there. And that’s a really tough play for a third baseman or shortstop to get to and the same for the left fielder. So he just found a perfect place to drop that one in right there. And now here’s a speed threat outfielder Tyrone Taylor going to miss. Going one. Hole one’s the count [Applause] and ball one. [Applause] That’s to third. Newman ring. Oo for one and that’s all they’ll get. Good that they weren’t overzealous there. Just take the shirt out. Keep the runner out of scoring position. Luis Torren. And now the catcher comes up to him. Luis Torren singled and drove in a run his first time through. [Applause] And that’s outside. And that’s ball one. Taylor over at first with one away. Check on the runner. Taylor back on a dive. [Applause] That one fouled off [Applause] and a swing and a miss. There’s that slider. clearly was sitting on a fast ball right there and just ended up out in front of the slider. Hey, you can’t fault him for his commitment. Now he’s just going to have to battle two strikes. Next offering upstairs. Still only one out here in the inning. This one popped up. Neto snags it for the second out. So the batting order turns over. Francisco Lindor both two in this one. [Applause] That one not close. One and0. Now if he’s going to steal second, you want him to go early in the count. That way he’s not a distraction to the hitter at the plate. Go ahead and get it out of the way so the hitter can focus on the pitch. Two runs across in the inning. We’re here in the bottom of the fourth on the ground right side and that’s just fouled. All slider so far in this at bat to get ahead in the count and clearly shows there was a game plan in mind for how to attack him in the box. gets a piece there. We’ll do it again. I wouldn’t throw him another breaking ball. Try to go again with a fast ball. Slightly elevated. He just having a hard time catching up. Yeah, the one two misses to even the count. Well, this is a guy that can be frustrating for pitchers because he fouls off so many pitches and grinds out the atbat. I’m sure there’s sometimes where a pitch would rather just give up a first pitch single than have to waste six or seven pitches on one hitter. Squirts away a little bit. [Applause] Foul ball and it remains a full count. Ninth pitch of the at bat do next. [Applause] Knocks that one away and we’ll do it again. [Applause] So now two on and two outs. Not what he wanted to do right there. Boo. That keeps this inning alive. puts a runner into scoring position and a chance for this offense to add on to their lead. And now the Mets DH Mark Vientos [Applause] foul ball there. Two aboard, two outs. Basketball for a strike. swings through it and that’s a strike out. So, two runs in the inning on three hits, no errors, but two are left stranded. We’re headed to the fifth. It’s the Mets four and the Angels one. Back here at City Field, top five, John Shami with Chris Singleton. And leading it off, Luis Ranifo. Out to short, Lindor. sends it across the first and the lead off man set down in their half of the fifth. Oh, I think the key I mean if he can get through one more inning, anything after that, a hitter or two is bonus, but they should be lined up good enough to get to the finish line. The offense needs to start showing some fight against this starter. He’s doing his thing out there. They’re going to have to push back at some point and make him work a little bit harder. That one finds the corner and it’s nothing in two, gets a piece and stays alive. That wasn’t an easy pitch to hit. It’s much easier to do damage against mistakes, but that’s not what that pitch was. Next offering upstairs. The Halos trailing by three and we’re at the top of the fifth and that is downstairs. It’s two and two in the air left field. Hauls it in for the out and there are two outs. Now batting short stop Zack back to the top of the Angels lineup. Zack Neto the next to hit for the Angels. Sing, you talk about a guy that has all the skills. The range is really good, but the arm just stands out and he makes all the plays. The shorts stop takes the ball. And because of that big power arm, he’s able to play a little bit deeper, make throws from the outfield grass all the way across the diamond and still get a pretty good runner. That’s impressive. There’s the strike. [Applause] And there’s a ball. Well, the offense has gotten going and a pitcher wants to go out there, have a real quick inning, get those guys back into the dugout so those bats can stay hot. Pitch is in for a strike and it’s three and two. I count this ball. [Applause] This is downstairs and that’s ball four. Pretty good pitch on 3-2. Right around the knees, but just no help from the umpire. First base. And here’s the first baseman, Nolan Shanuel. Yes. The kick and the pitch. Runner goes. That’s in for a strike. Throw to second out there. And the inning is over. Well, trying to get in the scoring position, but a great catch and throw to end the inning. That’s the way to pick up the pitcher. And we’re back. Bottom of the inning. Here’s right fielder Juan Sto. Get another one. And a first pitch fast ball is in for a strike. Well, these Mets really impressing me with the quality of their bats in this one. It’s been fun getting a chance to see them go to work. It looked to me like they really wanted to get to the starter early, get him out of the game before he settles in. So, I’d say mission accomplished. Highfly ball on that one. Curling foul down the right side. One and two here upstairs. [Applause] That’s hard hit on the line. Drops into the glove and there’s one down. Now batting the first baseman, Pete Al. That’s the polar bear Pete Alonzo. Alonzo goes 6 f’ 3 in 245 lbs and he was a second round pick back in 2016 that catches the corner. Probably the best one we have seen throwing it where he wanted to have a nice tight spin to it and a teaser just off the edge of the plate. Swang and a miss. Missed that by a mile. No balls, two strikes. keeps the atbat going with a foul ball. Come on. One down. Base is empty on the ground right side and that chance handled to first. Old man for the fifth inning moving along. Two quick outs. Now batting left fielder Brandon. Two outs, space is empty. Here’s the left fielder Brandon NMO. And that’s a little bit high. [Music] and he grounds one to the right side. Ranifo in plenty of time to first and the Mets go one, two, three. Three up, three down. That time we’re through five. It’s the Mets four and the Angels won. And welcome back to the ballpark. Now the number two hitter, Nolan Showell. That one finds the zone. It’s 0 and one. Movement in the bullpen. Reed Garrett preparing to come on if needed. Stannic getting loose as well. Next offering misses. One ball, one strike. [Music] late that time and it’s strike two. One ball, two strike in the air out to center. Makes a nice grab at a full sprint and there’s one down. Nothing instills more confidence in a team than a center fielder who makes a great play like that on the run. They can feed off the energy he brings. just from his playmaking abilities. [Applause] Trout in the box now as he leaves that one up high. One, a change up missing and it’s two and0 count to a guy like this at the plate. You’ve got to throw a pitcher’s pitch. Don’t just try to get a strike. He could make you pay. There are now two balls in a strike. Inside corner for a strike. The Mets leading by three and we’re the top half of the sixth. Spoils that one and it remains two and two. Now a blooper back behind Short. pulls it down and there’s two gone. Now batting left fielder Taylor Ward. Two down, base is empty. Now here is Taylor Ward possibly thinking about home run number 100 here. He’s just one shy of that milestone. And that one upstairs. Ball one. hit hard on the ground is short and that is that. So they go quietly there. 6782 in the bottom of the sixth. It’s the Mets four and the Angels won back here in Queens. And now it’s switch hitting third baseman Ronnie Mauricio. Let’s go. That’s inside. Activity in the bullpen for the Angels. Carson Fulmer up and throwing. And that’s a little bit high. And that’s ball two. Come on. And another ball. That one misses. So a lead off walk now. Batty man at first. Nobody out. Jeff McNeel digs in now. the walk and he’s also singled. [Applause] That’s inside. Ball one. That’s down and in. Mauricio gets his lead at first with nobody out. That’s ball three. Next offering is in for a strike. And a fast ball in there for a strike at 91. And boy, that was the pitch. 3-1. You want to be really aggressive on the fast ball out towards right center. That’s well struck. And this one looks like trouble coming home. He’ll score. Comes through with the RBI. Everything was mechanically sound with that swing right there. And that’s pretty much what you’re wanting to replicate with every rep you take. You have good balance barrel directly to the baseball and good long extension after contact out in front of home plate. Man, there are a lot of doubles on a swing like that. Runner in scoring position. No outs. So up next for New York, Tyrone Taylor. Flying drive and that’s a base hit out into center field. McNeel headed home. He will score and it’s an RBI single. It’s 6-1. Then at first and here’s the catcher, Luis Torren. [Applause] Fly ball down the line and that’ll fall for a base hit and out to a board. Back to the top of the Mets order now to hit Francisco Linds in the dirt. Nice job behind the plate there. [Applause] The short stop takes the ball. Well, he’s just given up three straight hits and now behind in this count to this hitter. Might be a good time for somebody to call a timeout. Maybe the pitching coach to go out there and talk to him just a little bit. Two and0 to Cal. Here it comes. Base knock center field. In comes the run from third. It’s an RBI single and it’s now a six-run lead. Now the throw comes in. Runner holds it third. Four hits in a row and they’re really swinging it here. So impressive that he didn’t get tied up or jammed on that pitch inside. Instead, good hands allowed him to get the barrel to it. Just shoot it up the middle of the field for that knock. Now the Angels manager is out of the dugout and he’ll make a move to the pen. number 39 won’t go any further and he’s on the hook for the runners at second and third. So looking for some help there. Back in a minute. Now pitching for you. Kikuchi takes over on the mound. Huge opportunity to add on to the lead for this offense right now, but we’ll see what he has to say about that. He’s going to have to make some great pitches to work out of this jam though. Now at the plate, Mark Vientos 0 for three in this one. And the first pitch misses for ball one. [Applause] That one at the knees for a strike. Two in scoring position. Nobody out here in the bottom of the six. What a stop. Gathers and throws. Nicely done for the out. Now batting the right fielder Juan Sto. Now it’s the right fielder, Juan Sodto. The goal is to give your teammate a chance to score from third. There’s a few ways he can get it done, but his best chance is to drive one in the air. Look for the right pitch up and then smoke it. That one’s upstairs. Ball one. Good purpose pitch right there. Trying to tease him, get him to raise his sights, pop something up, and make it an easy out. And a foul ball. Two on, one out. A little out front there as he swings through it. One ball, two strikes. [Music] [Applause] To the right side. And that goes foul. Here’s a one, two. Sodo swinging a drive deep right field. And that one hops the wall. One of their second scores as they add on. That’s a good job right there. Got two strikes on. You just got to battle. Here’s Pete Alonszo. [Applause] Just missed plenty of offense in this one. Singy, I guess you’d say kind of what we expected though. Well, this was a game looking at the pitching matchup where you expected offense to score and not as lopsided as this. Um, but yeah, you definitely expected to see some offense coming up. Neto calls it in and there’s two away. So, two down now and here is Brandon NMO. Brandon NMO and there’s the strike. Sodto at second with two down [Applause] that misses off the outside edge. The only adjustment he needs to make is his target. If you aim at the outside corner, that slider’s going to end up way off the plate. Perhaps look a little more down the middle and you get it right where you want it. Next pitch in for a strike and it’s one and two center field. Adele moves under it. He’s got it and that’s the inning. So, five runs in the inning as they bat around. We’re through six full. It’s the Mets nine and the Angels one. Welcome back. We’re in the seventh. We have a new pitcher on the mound, Oscar Brazel. And you know, bullpin guys can struggle sometimes when they’re called upon with big leads because it just doesn’t have the same intensity as a tight game. So, we’ll see how Sharpie is. Your mental toughness matters in situations like this as well. Joe Adell. So, digging in, Joe Adele, a former first round pick and he’s really turned into a nice everyday player. Let’s go. First pitch misses. Swinging a foul back and that’s out of play. Struck him out looking. couldn’t pull the trigger on a fast ball at the knees. Up next for the Angels and next for the Angels, Jorge Solair. First offering and it just misses. The Mets up big in this one here in the top half of inning number seven. Swing and a highf fly ball left field. NMO makes the catch and there’s two away. [Applause] Now batting catcher Logan Ohappy. Now the catcher up to hit. Logan Ohappy. First pitch doesn’t find the zone. [Music] Two outs. Swinging a foul straight back. Next offering is in for a strike. Really good cutter that he’s able to front door and back door. That pitch is devastating. Two balls, two strikes. That just misses. Three and two now. Smash down the left field line. Full extension. Makes the catch. One of the most fun and exciting things you can do as an outfielder. You lay out, you make a diving catch, and you end the inning. That gets the team fired up in the dugout. It’s a bit of a blowout now, which gives us a bit more freedom here in the booth. I’m not sure that’s a good thing. Singing, did anybody ever give you the silent treatment? I don’t remember that they did. I think they were pretty cool with me in terms of celebrating my rookie year. First home run came in Anaheim against the Angels. And I always love to watch now, though, especially when that player is unsuspecting. You know, some guys, they’ve they’ve been around long enough to know there’s a good chance I’m going to get the silent treatment. But when that player’s maybe been grinding it out for a little while and finally gets that home run, is expecting the big lift coming into the dugout and they just stonewalling. It’s awesome. Swing and a miss. Struck him out and one out now. Now batting. Now it’s the second base McNeel. Every once in a while they’ll work that same trick on a veteran player if say he’s been cold or hasn’t hit a home run in a long time. And that’s always fun when you don’t see it coming at all and everybody in the dugout goes crickets on him. Yeah. And and that veteran player usually got a response for those individuals with one or the other hands. And now the center fielder Tyrone Taylor. First pitch and that’s in for a strike. That was your worst start one year. Didn’t you start like three for 33 or something? Oh, it was awesome. It was I mean it was awful. Not awesome. It was awesome. It was awesome for pitchers facing me, but it was awful for me. It sounded like some type of deal at a fast food restaurant. Like three for 33. A swing and a miss. That retires the side. And that’ll do it. Mets go down quickly, but they still hold a commanding 911 lead. We go to the eighth. Stepping in, Luis Ringo. Luis Reho. Braz back to work at a swing at a line drive at a right field. Soda makes the grab and there’s one down. Now batting third baseman Kevin Newman. And next for LA, Kevin Newman. [Applause] swaying at a ball popped in the air that gets down for a hit and they have their first hit since the second inning. Now batting short stop Zack Neto now for the Angels. Zack Neto. Ball one. No strike in the dirt. Blocked. Brazaban. A righty that throws with power. He features a change up, a cutter, a sinker, and he works in a fourseamer. Late on that fast ball. It might be time to choke up a little bit. Get that front foot down early. Maybe even just spread out. He’s really late right now. The one-1 is fouled off. The one two blows the high heat past him. That’s a strikeout. [Applause] Now batting the first Nolan Shadow the next to hit. Close but called a ball and it’s one and0. Line drive. They take the force out. That ends the frame. Angels strand one. They trail it big. It’s 9-1. Out of the bottom of the eighth. Here’s the catcher. Luis Torren. Luis Torren. [Applause] Climb the ladder with that fast ball. That’s strike one. Nope. Ball one. Next offering misses down and away. That one fouled off. Two and two. cut out and miss. Curve ball struck him out. That’s a pretty nasty pitch right there. I’d call it a power curve ball in the 80s. It’s got so much spin on it and you really don’t have a lot of time to sit back and watch what it’s going to do before you have to commit. It was a good one for the swinging strikeout. And now it’s Frankie Lindor. That is upstairs for ball one. 10. [Music] Right through there for a strike. Base is empty, one away here in the bottom half of the eighth inning. And it’s fouled away. Spoils a two strike pitch and he’ll see another. One down, base is empty. Fans another and that’s three straight strikeouts. So he gets the call and picks up the strike out. Looking sometimes with a good hitter at the plate, he’ll be the one to get the benefit of the doubt if he lays off on a close pitch like that, but just not right there. Strike zone definitely expand a little bit with two strikes. And stepping in for New York, Mark Vientos, he was late there. Strike one. 01’s the count. foul ball. Well, two outs and a chance to put up a zero on the scoreboard here. And that’s not something that’s come easy for this staff in this one. [Music] next offering way upstairs. Pretty standard high 02 fast ball right there. If you’re smart, you’ll look for something down in the zone, but not too far. You don’t want to chase that breaking ball in the dirt. [Applause] Swing and a miss. And he strikes out the side for the second time today. All set to start the ninth in this one. Now it’s the DH for the Angels. Mike Trout. Great speed and great power. A great athlete quite simply. [Applause] That misses. And that’s ball one. When you have a real athletic player and who’s able to do the baseball mechanical things really well, look out because the sky’s is the limit on that potential. [Applause] Ball to strike. Drilled out towards left center field. Taylor under it. Puts it away for the eye. And there’s one down. Now batting left fieldielder Taylor Ward. And now here is Taylor Ward 0 for three. A fly out, a ground out, and a strike out. He swings and misses at the first pitch. 0 and one. [Applause] That clips a corner. The Angels with a lot of ground to make up here in the top of the ninth. [Applause] Hit in the air. Center field. Taylor ranging after it. Makes the grab for the second out. Now batting the center fielder Joe Angels down to their final out. Joe Adell the next to hit for the Angels. [Applause] Hit to right and that should do it. He puts it away and that’ll do it. The Mets slug their way to a win in this one. Number 82 with his first major league win. Yeah, nicely done. I’m sure he’ll feel very good about that and get the ball for his trophy case as he should. A start he won’t ever forget. 91 is how it ends for Chris Singleton and our entire crew. I’m John Shabi saying so long.
