  15. This deal rules. He might shake down the Kraken pretty good on his next contract seeing as they’re buying two UFA years, but if he lives up to his potential that’ll be a damn good problem to have.

  17. Wow! A few thoughts on this deal:
    1. Let’s give Boterill some kudos here. He’s been making smart moves since he’s been promoted to GM

    2. In my eyes this is a team friendly deal. I thought Kakko was going to get $5.5M +

    3. This leaves plenty of money to sign up Evans and still have a few million in cap space

    4. Trade market will heat up after arbitration

  21. I’ve been checking every minute for this

    3×4.5 is an absolute coup for a potential 50+ point winger with his size and vision

    I do think that value reflects that they think he won’t be producing top-line levels yet though, which could mean we see a shakeup of the Beniers/Kakko combo. That might just be my bias talking – but regardless, I’m stoked on this contract and I’m stoked Kakko will be around for a few more years
