What Will the Chicago Bulls REALISTICALLY Get for Ayo Dosunmu?
Are the Chicago Bulls still quietly fielding offers for their combo guard Io Dumu currently still uh rounding out his offseason rehab from the shoulder surgery that cost him the back uh part of his 24-25 season. Uh, according to Clutch Points NBA reporter Brett Seagull, IO’s name is still hot in the dog days of the offseason, saying he’s a key name to keep an eye on, not just for the Warriors who have uh been interested in him previously, but other teams around the league as well. There’s been plenty of interest in Tumu as he enters the final year of his contract. Entering the final year, three years, 21 uh million. He’ll be making 7.5 million in this final year. All right, gentlemen. couple of different trade proposals with Iodumu. Let’s build them. We’re going to start with a simple one for one because we know AK loves those. Shout out Alex Caruso and Lazo Ball. Truly. This one is sort of a uh you know, young player maybe in need of a fresh start. Iodumu one for one player swap with Indiana Pacers Jarus Walker. Okay. Uh formerly, what was he? Eighth overall pick in 2023. Yeah. Um, and you know, 10 minutes a game in his rookie season, uh, in just 33 appearances. He did play a lot more this past season, playing 75 games, and he saw his minutes uptick to nearly 16 a game. But I don’t know, the Pacers got a lot of pieces. Yeah, maybe they are looking for a little Hallebertton emergency rip cord relief. An IO utility player, two-way player could come in. As we have learned for the Bulls, whatever role is asked of him, he has been up to the task. Reserve, starter, score first guy, pass first guy. He’s been known to to do a little bit of everything. I think this trade could be one of the ones that actually benefits both teams. True. I I’ll leave I’ll leave the uh non non-emotional portion for GOAT. Um Jarus Walker, I mean, solid player, I think. You know what I mean? In general, shoots pretty well from the three-point line. didn’t take a lot, but still in those two seasons, he was 40%. Uh, from there, awesome nickname. They call him the manchild. Shout out to him for that. Um, I don’t think he’s a bad player or anything like that. I do think, you know, in Indiana and where you at with the Pacers, they they just pretty filled up, you know what I mean, with things that they have. But solid player. I believe he made an appearance in 75 games. 75. So, yeah, he got opportunities to get out there. Started about five of them. Got an opportunity to get out there and do some things. So yeah, on two years left on the deal makes sense. Even with IIO, even if it’s just a one-year rental, you know, for Indiana, it could work out for them just for all the great things that he does. What do you think about the part of him being thrown into this new mix of young guys in the Bulls front court, which is now a little bit more crowded than it was a year ago? I mean, I think he could fit in well though, like with that, like when I think about him and just being able to shoot that three-point shot, I immediately think about the Bulls in running in transition. So him pulling up, you know what I’m saying? getting those wide open shots. Yeah, he’ll have that opportunity to do that. And you know, he’s not really a small, you know, person like he’s he’s he’s pretty stocky against manchild. Uh him being called. The emotional part of this though, Matt, I would rather somebody pull my eyeballs out before I see I Dumu in an Indiana Pacers jersey. Wow. Okay. I don’t want to see this. I know you’re going to come that strong with it. I don’t want to see this at all. All right. I don’t want to see I Dumu at all in a Pacers jersey. Again, my hate for the Patriots is not that deep as it once was, you know, in previous times. But still, I don’t want to see him wearing that and then having to deal with that on a gametoame basis like that. He doesn’t even really have to move, you know, to Indiana. He keep his home in Chicago, you know what I mean? And all that, he’ll still be quite comfortable. But just knowing that he was putting on that jersey, both of my like all of them take take them out. I did not immediately think of that element of it, but I think I think it’s fair. I’m not for it. I think it’s fair as as someone who loves and appreciates Iowa hometown guy and screw the Pacers. Yeah. Go all day. Yeah. I mean, we we can take a look at it in the trade machine if we want here. Um and I’m not saying like I think this is a great trade or the Bulls should like really do it, but to me it just kind of made sense for both teams. Like you look at what the Bulls have looked at in trades recently. It was like Isaac Agoro for Lonzo Ball. It was Caruso for Giddy. former top 10 picks who have not really figured it out fully with their team who their team is going to have to come up on paying them here pretty soon. Yeah. Um and you know, young player with experience was just in the finals obviously was hurt, didn’t play in the finals, but played uh through the conference finals, but just doesn’t really have a lot of room to grow on a Pacers team that has Seakkum uh after they, you know, they drafted him and then traded for Seakum. Uh they have Obi Toppen who’s played really well. They have Aaron Nesmith who has uh clocking up a lot of the minutes at the three. So, there’s just not a lot of space for him. He may get some time at the five this year, but for me, if I’m Indiana, like I’m looking for Hallebertton fillins, not replacements, but guys who can step up and run some offense. I think they’re going to look at um Andrew Nemhard as somebody who can generate a lot of offense, but like he’s going to need help. And then when Hallebertton comes back, I think IO could not be a better fit next to him as somebody who can run the floor, get up and down, play the way the Pacers want to and also uh play off the ball and, you know, catch and shoot threes, tack closeouts, um, and operate that way and take on some heavy duty defensive assignment. So, I think he makes sense for them. Um, and yeah, former top 10 pick, one for one trade, young player with experience, a forward who has some ball skills. I mean, that was the thing about Jarus coming out of the draft was that like maybe you can run some pick and roll with him, run some dribble handoff stuff with him. Uh, super long wingspan, a little bit of an undersized four, six, six and a half, I believe, um, without shoes, but 72 and a half wingspan. So, he could be another versatile forward that the Bulls plug in as a guy who can shoot, who’s young, who can grow with the team, and at least he has two more years of his rookie scale contract left as opposed to just one. So, I don’t know. I I’m not like enamored with this idea, but like it just kind of made sense. The second one might have Bulls fans a bit more excited because it is a name that Bulls fans are obsessed with right now. It is Jonathan Kaminga, another restricted free agent like Josh Giddy who seems stuck. Uh despite the fact that he and the Warriors are both trying to find him a new home, the Warriors are still trying to make some other late offseason ads that they can’t get done until Kaminga gets moved. So, lot more moving parts to this one. We’ll build it out uh along with Katie there. Shout out to fans, Bo. So, Jonathan Kaminga sign and trade three-year deal for what figure did you say go like 88 million? Yeah. I was talking to shout out to the Lightyears podcast Samiari and Andy Lou. Samout Sam messaged me this morning with this idea and I was like this is perfect. We’re going to talk about this on our show today. We need to talk about this. Binga boom. So, it was a sign and trade for Kuminga. I believe it was 26 million per year. 26.6 six. Uh, I believe it has to be. He said three years. Maybe the Bulls do four. Um, I guess it just kind of depends, but let’s go with three cuz that was the number that, uh, Sam sent me. So, it’s 26.6 million. So, if you can fill those out, Katie, in each of those spots. Um, you could just add a six there next to the two. And that probably does it. Mhm. Um, so save that. Plug it in. Plug in. Save again. Mhm. And then never you can drag him over to the bull’s side. Boom. And then also send Moses Moody from the Warriors to the Bulls. Moses Moody. Two players. And it is uh Patrick Williams. It’s a hot leader. You just had the magic word. Go Iodumu. Ah, that part hurts more. Yeah. And if you scroll up, Katie, to the draft compensation on the bullse, go to the picks. What’s that? And it’s the Blazers pick. The Blazers pick. Still owed to them. still lottery protected that will convert to a second and convey in 2028 if the Blazers are still a lottery team in 26 27 and 28. So uh on the top right of the screen, Katie, you can process the trade um and make sure it works. I believe it should. This trade is successful. Okay. So So interesting trade here. I’ll just give my quick analysis and then hear what you guys say. So this was a Warriors, somebody who covers a Warriors sending this to me. This was not me coming up with this. Um, but I think it speaks to the fact that like they want to get something for Kuminga and they want to get that deal done. The challenges with base year compensation work out in this um because of the, you know, amount of money that you can go above the 50%. I think it’s like 120. So, it it ends up working out. Um, and then they send IO into the Warriors trade exception and you give up this pitch pick, which I’ve argued they should be trying to sell immediately because the Blazers just trade for Drew Holiday. They just signed Damen Lillard, like there is some optimism that that could convey, but there’s certainly no guarantees. And so if it looks like it could be a first round pick and maybe it ends up being a second or maybe it ends up being the 17th pick, like if that’s the cost to get a flyer on Kuminga and Moses Moody, to me, I think I would do this one because yes, it hurts to give up IO. Um but getting off of Patrick’s contract is uh to your benefit here, giving up a pick while it’s, you know, at the high point in its value uh I think is positive. and like Moses Moody really good rotation piece forward who can shoot it and create a little bit off the dribble. Um and just like bringing in talent like we’ve talked about the talent deficit on this Bulls team getting Kuminga I don’t think he’s a perfect player um but he has some upside uh and I think that in the Bull system where it’s a lot of run and gun make quick decisions score the ball like I think he could thrive in that uh where he doesn’t have to like create he doesn’t have to make a ton of decisions it’s just like go to the basket and I think that’s really what he wants to do. So, I I think giving him that much money is a little bit risky. I don’t feel great about it, especially when you’re giving up uh a pick and a player that you feel pretty strongly about, but what do you guys think about this one? Uh I mean, well, obviously because this is the trade that you yourself came up with. Yes. And no one else. No one else. Um I mean, I like I like the Moses Moody part of it. I’ve never That’s like the part I feel the best about him. Yeah. Like I really like I’ve never not liked him. Like I’ve always kind of like I think he’s one of those guys that just kind of fits in with what a lot of teams are doing because he doesn’t need the basketball to affect your ba toffect their basketball team. He can definitely shoot that thing. You know what I mean? He’s definitely an athlete, but he doesn’t need to have it. It’s why I’ve always kind of been iffy on Kaminga cuz not to say he can’t be that guy that’s going to drop you 25 a game. I’m just watching how the Bulls are setting up their offense and how they want to play. Yeah. And I I just don’t see how it connects uh like that. As Matt said, you had me at Patrick Williams. Um, you kind of heard me with when you said I Dumu, but the pick is interesting to me. Um, I’m asking this. Thinking if Portland gets better this season and makes that playoff, wouldn’t it behoove you to kind of hold on to that? uh knowing that it’s that 2026 draft and if it may convey if they do and it happens that way, shouldn’t you be wanting to hold on to that and then say, well, okay, if it’s not this year, then maybe next year you can get rid. I think that’s exactly why I would trade it because there is this thought that maybe it conveys and to me, okay, they have to the West is so strong like maybe they get in to the playin this year and they win in the playin and they make it and you’re giving up the 15th or 16th pick. That’s something that you’d have to live with. But like you don’t have the upside on this pick. You have the downside. You have the back end of the lottery. And there is a thought that for the first time since they’ve gotten it in 2021 that it actually could convey like maybe it’s not this year, but like maybe it’s next year when Dame comes back and there’s this optimism that Dame could look like himself again and now you’re in the playoffs. Like okay, so then you’re giving up the 17th or 18th pick next year. Like to me, this is when you trade that pick because there is upside on it right now in the perception that the Blazers could take a step forward. And that’s exactly why I would try to capitalize because yes, there is a chance that they could. There’s also probably equal or greater chance that they don’t. And now you’re getting a second round pick in 2028, which is like not that, you know, we we know how the Bulls feel about second round picks. I’d do it. I as a Bulls fan, that Portland pick, it’s been gone. Like it’s not conveying. It’s never conveying. AK doesn’t care about second round picks anyway, which is what it’ll eventually turn into. I think you’re right with the West, even if David comes back. So, to me, I like Moody. He’s a good player. Kaminga, I’m not as high on as I think consensus, but still still like, yeah, getting off of that. Moving on from that, that rhymed. It did. Uh I I would hurt, but I think that there’s a there’s more to like than dislike about that trade if you don’t believe that that pick is actually conveying as a first. That’s true. That’s what it’s all about, though. I think that’s true.
The CHGO Bulls crew create hypothetical trades for Chicago Bulls guard Ayo Dosunmu. Would a one-for-one player swap with the Indiana Pacers get the job done? Or will the Golden State Warriors pull the trigger on a Jonathan Kuminga sign-and-trade? Plus, would the return even be worth the departure of the hometown kid?

Keep Ayo let them have Coby but imo we should keep both
I hope we keep Ayo. Defense and hustle! And frickin SPEED! We need him to anchor the young defense. Keep the Chi town kid.
Soooo they are trading for Kuminga on 27mill a year but won't sign Giddey….. fans don't want that… I take Giddey waaaaay before Kuminga. We have Buzelis and Essengue so we don't need Kuminga. We need a centre
They need to trade him, what have the bulls won with him? Kuminga could be the PF the bulls need.
you guys want Moody and JK? for Ayo and Patrick W? Send us Coby white and one of those two bruh! coby is on a 12.8M contract. thats basically Moody. we can send a pick to close the gap. But I think JK for coby is easier for us to use the word "fair" no one has to come too far up on these trades.
