Dallas Cowboys SURPRISE Starting Lineup Revealed By ESPN

[Music] Coming up on today’s Cowboys Report, we’re going to break down ESPN’s rankings of all the different NFL rosters and their projected starting lineups, some strengths, weaknesses, X-actor, etc. There are some interesting lists in there that I do want to break down and discuss here. Before we get into it, we are in second place in the NFC East sub battle. I don’t know if we can catch Eagles now, but I want to at least make sure we beat Marshy and Giants. Now, if you subscribe, you get free Cowboys videos each and every single day. Hit that sub button so you don’t miss out. ESPN ranking every single roster top to bottom. Won’t go too in-depth on these. Cowboys don’t crack the top eight. They don’t crack the top 16. They check in in the end at number 18 behind the Cardinals ahead of the Pittsburgh Steelers near the bottom of the NFC teams. There’s quite a few AFC teams on there where NFC’s depth feels like a little bit better than the AFC, but you know, ahead of the Giants. I guess that’s that’s a win uh in the end, so to speak. They mentioned different like outlook pieces. biggest strength they went with wide receiver which is funny because you could have made an argument you know after the draft itself of outside of the actual weakness this might have been number two here’s what Mike Clay who does a lot of fantasy work uh for ESPN wrote on the Cowboys wide receiver room it starts with Lamb who put up his uh third straight 100 plus yard season since 2022 Lamb leads the NFL in catches top five in yards and touchdowns and he’s just 26 years old Lamb’s new running mate George Pickkins failed to reach his ceiling while overcoming shaky quarterback play in Pittsburgh, but he still produced 800 plus yards in all three of his NFL seasons. Jaylen Tolbert, Kavvonte Turpin, Jonathan Mingo provides serviceable depth depth. It is a positive how much better the entire wide receiver room got just by dropping George Pickkins into the equation. He went from you have one good wide receiver one to man is Tolbert really a two or is he a three? Is Turpin a three or is he a four? Do you trust Mingo as a third or fourth option? Now you have a really good one-two punch. Tolbert goes into a more natural spot at at wide receiver three. Turpin can be your fun gadget guy. Mingo, yeah, you get a fourth round pick for him, but now he’s your fifth receiver. The sixth guy could be special teamamer. The entire room feels so much better with Pickkins if he lives up to his expectations and potential. So, do you agree that wide receiver is currently the biggest strength on the team or is there a different spot in mind? Y for yes, N for no. Go vote at the pinned comment of today’s show. Maybe not a huge surprise. Biggest weakness was running back where you can argue the Cowboys downgraded. Uh Mike Clay again writing this wasn’t a tough choice for a team that hasn’t prioritized the position recently. Out is Rico Dattle in are Javvante Williams, Miles Sanders, and day three rookie Jaden Blue. Williams has the highest ceiling, but the 25-year-old has struggled badly with efficiency since tearing his ACL in 2022. Sanders was a non-factor during two years in Carolina. Though, he showed some juice with 116 total yards and two scores in week 18 last season. There is room for the running back room to not be the worst unit on this roster. And that probably ends up being a good thing, especially if the offensive line plays well. Maybe that does materialize that way. But, you know, you downgraded from Dow and Williams from Dow to Williams and Sanders based on their production last year. I am excited about Jaden Blue. He’s a fifth round rookie. You should probably temper expectations a little bit there. So, be honest with me. What is your concern level over the running back room? Scale it from 1 to 10 in the comment section of today’s show. The top X factor for ESPN. Not what I was expecting. It is the right side of the offensive line. I would argue could have just said the offensive line in general and thrown in Tyler Gton in this conversation, but Seth Walder said if Tyler Booker and Terence Steel could each be average pass protectors, Dallas could have a surprisingly strong line in front of Prescott. It’s a big if, though. I think the offensive line, including Gayton and Cooper BB2 and Tyler Smith, are going to be massive factors in this unit with this team. If the offensive line plays well, it impacts your running game, helps your biggest weakness, makes life easier for your QB to get the ball to your biggest strength. The O line does well, Gayton, Smith, BB, Booker, Stew, if they stay healthy, if they’re out there together, they develop the chemistry, the consistency, all of that. Offense can be a lot better than I think what general perception is. But that’s not a guarantee because you’ve got one guy that’s been paid, four guys are on their rookie contract still. One of them is a rookie, two of them are secondyear players. That is a risk. That is a gamble. And it does in the end make them an unknown as we sit right now. Biggest issue, the surprising non-starter was a starter. Jack Sandborn uh as of right now is in line to start for the Cowboys. Aaron Shatz praising Sanborn saying he followed defensive coordinator Matt Eberloose from Chicago. He’ll get some playing time early in the year while Demarvin Oversham recovers from his knee injury last December. Sanborn doesn’t play enough to accumulate a lot of stats, but he has been a useful player against the pass and the run. Look, as we sit right now, Sanurn Sanborn is the starter actually. He’s predominantly worked ahead of me a foul at least in nickel packages been Kenneth Murray and Jack Sanborn. How does that change once the Marvian Oversham returns in November? Hopefully, it’s a great question. I don’t think the Cowboys know right now. We’ll have to wait and see. This Cowboys hoodie is on sale. Was 55, now it’s just 33. A perfect addition to your fall wardrobe rotation. Link will be in the comments section and the description of today’s show. It’s chatsports.comdoodie. That’s chatsports.comdoodie. Let’s discuss the starting lineup here as listed by ESPN. Dak Prescott. Duh. They did list two running backs, which I found interesting. Javvante Williams and Jaden Blue. I think Blue is like a third down pass catcher, rotation, change of pace back. I think that that’s an ideal outcome at least in year one. He was a fifth round pick. I am excited about him. I had a higher fifth I had a higher grade on him than a fifth round pick, but he was fifth round pick. I think the running back room is certainly a battle to to watch all throughout training camp, especially once the pads go on and we can learn more about it. No surprise at wide receiver CD Lamb, George Pickkins, Jaylen Tolbert, you’ll obviously see some Cavante Turp rotation. That’s obvious, but it’s going to be those three. Like, duh. Obviously, offensive line again, nothing crazy here. Tyler Gayton, Tyler Smith, Cooper BB, Tyler Booker, Terrence Steel. Those are your starting five. the depth behind them. I’m actually very curious how things play out. But those are your starters. Defensive line, Oso Dizua, Mazy Smith, Micah Parsons. Marshon Neland was listed as the other edge. And a part of this is the fine starter like is it the guy who snap one of each game is out there? That might actually be Marshawn Nan because he’s a better run setter than Ezaraku Dante Fowler are even though he was coming off the injury. It was a former second round pick, but are we defining it from a snap count perspective? Because like Dante Fowler might be that guy. He’s certainly higher paid. Ezrau will be a rotational piece. Should we be discounting Sam Williams either? So, how you define starter at the edge spot opposite Micah Parsons, which will be a rotation, make no mistake about it, I think could lead to some disagreements on this. So, pick a starter at the other defensive end spot opposite Micah Parsons. DF for Dante Fowler, DE, which is fitting for Donovan Ezrau. MK for Marshon Neland, SW for Sam Williams. Also interesting at linebackers recently a foul over Kenneth Murray, which you know, if you had told me this, you know, in April, I might have agreed with you. It’s not been the vibe at OTAAS in mini camp. Looks a little bit more like this right now. Overshon will be linebacker one once he is healthy. There’s a lot of expectations and hope around that, but he’s not healthy yet. He’s going to be in the air on the pup list and miss some time. Kenneth Murray right now, Jack Samborn have been the top two guys. That could change throughout camp. Leaf has has gotten rep. He’s got time, but I kind of feel like he’s linebacker three for the time being with new DC, new linebackers coach. They brought over Sanborn. They went out and targeted Murray in a trade. Like get where they’re going there. The depth De Mo Clark, Shamar James. I don’t know how that that’s going to play out. That one is is quite interesting to me. I kind of wish that ESPN hadn’t listed Trayvon Diggs on here because I would have been very curious who would have been your other corner starter. Don Bland is is is one right answer. Kaire Elum is another right answer, but is it going to be Savone Revel you think week one? Is he going to be healthy in time? Is it Israel Muamu? Is it Kalin Carson who did get his his ankles broken by seed Lamb during camp? I I is it a veteran? Is it somebody else? How does that play out? The Cowboys gonna be some have some patience there. The safeties, by the way, quick note on that. Listed as Cooker, listed as Donovan Wilson. Not surprising. I think that’s the correct answer as we sit right now here in in midish late July, whatever we want to call it. Maybe Maris Bellia Thomas could impress, but I think it’s Hooker and Wilson at this moment. [Music]

  1. Man can't believe we have FOUR DE's with 8-10 sack potential. Inside line is a serious issue though so if we don't stop the run we won't be getting ANY sacks.

  2. For anyone wondering, the "hoodie" they're advertising is not really a hoodie. It's a t-shirt with a hood on the back. Still a good buy.

  3. Is this really something that is even necessary 3 days into training camp? We all know whose starting on the line, WRs, TE, QB on the offensive side, and whose starting on the Defense, pretty much, maybe the LBs are a question, the opposite edge and CBs other than Bland and Elam. But all this is assuming no one gets banged up in camp or the pre-season. Lets have this discussion after the last preseason game.

  4. What would be hella nice is if we could end up being in position to land rb outta notte dame Love….kid is a beast & would be tearing shit up like zeke had his first few seasons in Dallas if not better
