San Diego Padres vs St. Louis Cardinals – FULL GAME HIGHLIGHTS | July 24, 2025 MLB Season
So Fernando Tatis Jr. is going to lead off for San Diego. Sunny Gray 3 and 0 lifetime against the Padres’s and delivers a quick strike says Alfonso Marquez. Yeah, look, you don’t stick around as long as Sunny has if those weigh on you. But a base hit with the second pitch of the game to left for Tatis. Give you a tough at bat. And he lines this one into the right field corner. Tatis around second on his way to third. They are going to wave him. Walker comes up cleanly. Mason Win can’t make a play on the relay throw and arise with a double. Two batters in. San Diego strikes in the first again. It’s one to nothing. Sunny Gray gets him to swing and miss. Machado’s the first out. One away in the first inning. Good slider. 340 and 350 million on those two. Pine drive to right. That’s going to get down and score arise. Merryill around first. Little bobble by Walker, but he recovers. It’s a long single and San Diego strikes for two in the first. Padres’s short stop set up the pitch and he waved at that swing and a miss. So the sweeper and slider had been effective at times for Gray. Two outs, both on strikeouts. Q shot hit to the left side. Tough play. Aronado. He’ll throw to first and just in time to get sheets. He’s signed through 2028. And a big bender in for a strike. That curveball had some spin to it. One-1 pitch. Merles drives this one a long way toward left. Johnson near the line and makes the catch shy of the warning track. Lined into the left field corner. A base hit. Donnie around second on his way to third. Pop’s going to wave him. Here he comes. Here comes the relay. It’s on target. Ball gets away and all the way around to third is Contraras. It’s a 2-1 game. Now Aronado a flare toward right. Tatis broke and misplayed it but is able to recover and that will retire the side season this year. It’ll be the first time in 20 years that that’s happened and they’ve got a good shot as Jake Croninworth pops one to shallow center. That’s how it’s on the ground to second. Third hop, no trouble. Yeah, the Padres’s guys were joking that this is their all humilitarian meet sweat. Okay, best way I can describe it. Pop fly into shallow left center field and we’re saved by the bell. Three up, three down for Sunny Gray. He’s down a run. That one cued toward first. Dise has that and an easy step on the pillow for the first ground out for Darvish in the game. Just missed it. Flies that to left. Johnson in and under and he’s got it. Two outs. Three balls in a strike and ball four. The inning continues back to the top and Brendan Donovan. Pitch swing drive hammered toward right. Tatis on the run. That is gone. Donovan with a threerun homer. [Applause] This is just fantastic pitch recognition. And he did. That’s headed for the sidewall that kicks off toward Johnson. The Cardinals have them second and third with two out. One, two. Swing. High fly ball. Wall up toward left center. At the track, head the wall. Big fly. Three run homer. Contraras. [Applause] Up being the 14th of the season. The three-run shot. A sixun second inning by the Cardinals. That ball was destroyed. And how about the Cardinals? A team that hasn’t hit many home runs, Brad. Two three-run bombs in this inning. Well, going back to 3-2 count, lifted in the air toward right center. Walker on the run. He’s headed to 375. And that one’s headed to the bullpen. Tatis with a long homer. His 17th of the year. The ball is flying at BCH. It’s 7-3. Didn’t feel like chip off the bat that this was going to have enough juice to go, [Applause] but it does. Number 17. A sinker here from Sunny Grace. Chevy pitch track. Line to left. He’s two for two. Arise a 360 hitter against the Cardinals. Berles couldn’t cut that off. And into second goes Arise. [Applause] That smoke to right center. That ball’s going to carry. And that ball’s going to sail out of here. A two-run homer for Machado. We’ve played two plus innings. We’ve got four homers. And now we’ve got a two-run game. Well, the seventime Allstar strikes again. Away is generally a good place to go, but you got to be down under the zone or up. No balls in a strike on the ground to second. Donny’s got that. Sunny Gray gives up three, but not the lead. We head to the home half. Wild start in St. Louis. It’s one ball, two strikes. Mason Win putting up a fight here and drives that one hard to right. Good approach, but Tatis is there and Mason peels off for I think that’d be a fun question to ask Mark Grant. We’ll get to that after the pitch. Oh, a swing and a miss at a butterfly. A 69 mph curveball erases PZ. Brad pointed that out in the first inning as this one chopped to second. Might turn two. There’s one. No chance. Big hop. High pop. Walker playing deeply. He’s going to settle under near the line and he’ll squeeze that. Sunny Gray gives up a couple of hits. Victor takes off. Pitch low. Throw high and Scott holds the bag at second. He went on first move. The coolest things being a part of this organization. Herrera first pitch brings home Victor Scott. Cardinals baseball at its best. It’s an 85 lead. Herrera got a head start and the throw to third is going to beat him. Mansoui never made him stop and Herrera still thrown out on a perfect throw from Maldonado. Well, herly like he talked about as an excuse or anything, but you have to imagine that could happen. That’s hit hard to right. Walker on the run, leaping up. Can’t make the play up against the fence. Ball rattles back toward the infield and everybody will be held. They’re at second and third. Nobody out. Best play ever. I bet every fan has one. There’s a little squibber that’s going to score a run. Mason throws to first and just in time to get sheets. Ground ball to the right side. Gray late break to first. Contrarus throws it off the glove of Sunny and a run is in. Runners hold. Pitch rifle toward right center. Tatis is over and under. He’ll make the catch. He’s going to throw toward the shortstop. It’s cut off. Straw came out. Bottom of the zone on the ground to first and Arise. It’s a race to the bag. He’s got a dive and he just did get there in time. Andre’s threatened down 8-7 and there’s strike three. Couldn’t pull the trigger on that wonderful island. Ground ball to first. Contraras tricky hop. He’ll take it to the bag and that will retire the side. Swing and a drive. A laser hit toward left center. Oh man, was that ball killed. Herrera is back. He’s got three hits. Difference maker sinker down the middle. Home run number nine here for Herrera. And a hot shot. 412 ft. 111.5 mph off the bat. No doubter. Tell you what, Carter, he has a chance to win. And a swing and a miss. That will end the perfect night for Contras. Got horses. On the ground, Donovan retreats. Patty Cakes and fires a strike. Boy, he’s good at second. Tatis is next and drives one to right. Walker on the run. Adjusts on the fly. Ball games. Cardinals trying to piece him together to short. Mine is going to pitch a perfect inning. Three up, three down. He might have a little Chihuahua background. Machado vacuums that up and look at how easy that bullet goes to first. Chops that one to first. Second base one on the first and in time. A double play. He got him. Check swing. Ring him up. There’s your first out. High fly to right playable for Walker. Jordan hardly had to move. Two outs. Get a little grip on that slider if that’s what he goes with here. He did. Swinging a miss. Tag the runner. Cardinals win it 97. Home cooking did the trick tonight. What a game. Chip this offense. 12 hits and nine.

If the padres score 7 runs. I expect to win. WTF
Prob most painful game I’ve seen all year as padres fan our best hitting night in a while just for it to get spoiled in one inning by yu darvish who’s supposed to be good with two 3 RUN home runs. Those extra runs for the home runs really helped the cardinals we would’ve dominated if those were solo home runs. We had more hits. Pitching has gotta be better usually that’s our strength and hitting is our weakness but it was different tonight kinda sad if we hit like that and are on our a game with pitching we are a great team. Gotta find that pitching again and stay with this hitting. It’s ok padres you gotta gob and recover but boy this game could’ve been won especially with two outs before the two home runs in the second. Could’ve easily got out of the inning if he didn’t walk the guy and then give up two home runs. This should’ve been winnable for Padres.
Arraez is so damn good glad he’s on our team
Go Cards!
Dodgers fan here. Go Cardinals. 😊
2 big holes in the lineup have to get addressed.
the inly game i’ve went to, definitely was worth the while
Thank you Cardinals!
Padres don't have a pitching problem? Kind of hard to win when you need to score 10 runs to get a win. Keep saying the padres just need to fix their bats. It goes beyond that. This padres team has A LOT of problems they need to address. It's pretty blatant when you watch them.
jfc it's a miracle the padres have the record they do…
Brilliant!!! Sonny!!! Go Cards!!!
nooooo our glorious king Darvish 😭
