Tell your friends to do the same. It’s Lockdown Blazers, your team every day. In today’s show, we’re ranking stuff. It’s the end of July. It’s time. It’s time to rank things. We’ve made it to that part of the offseason. Uh actually, this is from a larger project where people are ranking things in the basketball world. Uh the the fun part about working for Lockdown Blazers is that there are hosts in every every NBA city. We cover every single team like no one else can. It’s the value and power of the network. And part of that is we’re working on a project where we’re going to rank the top 100 players in the NBA. So to sort of get that started uh and if you’re a big follower of the network you know that locked on NFL has already done something like this in the football world and we’re going to join them in the NBA world eventually. But part of part of doing this uh this task is that each of the hosts uh in in in for each team was asked to rank the top four or five players on their team. And you know we drop them in a spreadsheet and then we’ll vote on them and then we’ll put together a whole little package and it’ll be fun content for you. um because people like top 100 lists and it’s good things to debate about and all of those things. And perhaps when it gets when that becomes a thing that’s in your feeds, I’ll I’ll talk about it again. But I want to talk about sort of my process in doing that. Like I want to take you behind the scenes with the ranking because um it was pretty easy for me to say here are the Blazers two best players. But even once I got to three, um I started to uh get a little vexed. I had to go to my executive producer group chat and ask them uh ask them to weigh in a little bit. Uh I’ll talk about that executive producer group chat a little bit. But uh let’s start with the easy part. So so the the task here was rank the four best players on your team on the team you cover. Uh for me, the Portland Trailblazers and if um you know if you feel like there are more dudes that deserve to be in the top 100, feel free to sort of add them to the list if you so choose. I did not get to five, but I did put four on there. I don’t want to talk about those guys. The first two were so easy, though. Denny Avia was a Blazers best player last season. Tumani Kamar was the Blazer second best player last season. I think that is largely without controversy. I like it would take a real I mean, the internet is filled with bad opinions. I’m sure you can find it out there, but like it would take a real hot take artist to um to convince to to really put together a compelling argument um that that there are there were players on the Blazers that were better than those two guys last year. I I know that sort of the national perception at least in terms of like the Ringers ranking. uh like thoughtfree Simons was is is better than Tumani Kamar and like they’re different players but like in terms of like positive impact last year Tumani was better than it wasn’t particularly close in my opinion and Denny was far and away the Blazers best player. Denny was really really good. He was just really good. I mean he he careerhighs in basically all the accounting stats, points, rebounds, assists, steals. um he took a jump in usage from his final season in Washington where he took a jump in usage from his first three years in the NBA. And yet even though it was the highest usage of his career, that’s possessions used as like um depending on how you measure it, it is either possessions you finish with a shot turnover or trip to the free throw line or also cleaning the glass throws in uh which I like uh assists because that’s like your true usage. How much did you actually how much were you like making like being active on the ball? Did you lead directly to a basket with a pass or did you shoot turnover and get to the free throw line? So like either way you slice it, the highest usage of of Denny’s career and the highest true shooting percentage of his career, highest points per shot of his career, um he basically took a hundred more three-pointers than he did the prior season in in Washington. And he hit him at roughly the same clip, like a little bit worse, but roughly the same clip for a for a 100 more free throws. an increase of about 50% over you know it’s like from 225 to 330 something like yeah I he took a huge leap in terms of responsibility in terms of just sort of volume of production and the efficiency didn’t slip at all he was good um as is typical I think Denny was worse on defense because he had more on his plate on offense very few players scale up perfectly on both sides of the ball early in his career when Denny just like wasn’t given much tasks on offense, but he’s like, “Go stand in the corner. Brad Beal and Russell Westbrook are going to do stuff.” He was an elite defender and Danny is still a good defender. He can be like he can be an above average defender and part of a very good defensive team, but he wasn’t like the stopper that he once was when he was first got into the league. Um, quite frankly, offense is more important. Uh, like and if you can be a a positive defender and the level of offensive player he was, you’re really good. And he was really good. After the All-Star break, he played in 20 games, averaged 23.3 points, 9.7 boards, and 5.2 assists. Shot 50.7% from the field, and that included 41.7% from three after the All-Star break and 78% from the free throw line. It’s probably not fair to look at someone’s production in March and April in the NBA and say, “What if they did this all the time?” But like if if Denny played at that level, 239 and five on 50, 40, 80 splits, like he’ll probably be on the All-Star team. Or if he isn’t, he will be the number one name of I can’t believe this gentleman didn’t make the All-Star team. Like he will be on the immediate list of like, wow, not like not Denny. That that’s how good that’s how good like a 249 and five season would be. I I I totally granted I I believe this too is like March and April are usually not like predictive months. They’re kind of wacky um just because of like what other teams are doing. But undeniably Denny was very very good. And if he is that level for 82 games, he’s like an all-star level player. And if he’s a little bit worse, he’s like, you know, if he’s if he can’t get back to 239 and five and he’s like 218 and four, that’s still really a really good basketball player, right? like that’s not the all-star lock that he would be in the other way. But that that’s he’s he’s like um yeah, like I said, it’s maybe not fair to look at uh March and April production and say what if, but what freaking if for Denny for two like he’s he’s the Blazer second best player last season. He’s an alldefense performer. Um just turned into an elite foul grifter, an elite charge taker, and like a flopper Zavant. Dude was Dude just learned he was better at at take at drawing offensive fouls than most teams in terms of prolific production. He had more charges than like a third of the league. Um that’s like all all of those teams. He had more more charges than than a third of the entire league. Uh he just he’s he’s really really good. He’s really really good on defense. Um he I think he dialed back some of his like hyperaggressive guard you at 94 feet and started picking up like pretty aggressively at 60 ft and it really helped him be smarter about um you know when to pressure like he just I I said on this podcast before he made it that I thought uh Tony Kamaro was one of the 10 best defenders in the league and that I didn’t know if he would make an alldefense team but I did believe his he had played like one of the 10 best defenders in the league. I’m really glad he made an alldefense team. I thought he deserved it. He was excellent. Um, and he also took a big step as a shooter. Like he he he he shot over 37% from three. Um, you know, his his in his rookie season, he’s like he struggled early to shoot the ball a lot and then kind of found it the second half of the season and then that production continued. He upped the volume and continued with that production at 37%. He doubled his assist percentage, not only just his raw assist, but his assist percentage doubled while decreasing his turnovers. It’s like it, you know, it’s still um relatively pedestrian assist numbers, but he took a step there as a playmaker while not being as much of a turnover um turnover generator. Like he was just better on the ball in general. And listen, Tammani might never be a lead creator type in the NBA. Um, even if he plateaus right here at what he is at 25 years old in the league, what he is right here at 25 years old is a play any night for anyone type of two-way forward. Like he would play for every team in the league. Would he start for every team in the league? Maybe not every single one, but like a lot many many many most of them and many of those teams that are like, you know, going deep into the playoffs could desperately use a Tumani Kamar if not in their starting lineup that in their top six, top seven of the rotation, he’s that good. Like he’s that good. So like I said, like even if this is what Tumani is, right? And obviously has room to grow. But even if you think like, well, he’s 25, he came to League Global 8. This is maybe this is the production. It’s like sure, sure. Like I will allow that skepticism with him. Um, and I will say if he doesn’t get any better than he is right at this moment, he is a long-term starting very good player in the NBA. And if he takes step steps forward, continues to um, you know, grow as a playmaker and as a guy who does stuff off the dribble, like yeah, it’s he could be he could be a very very very good good player and he’s already, you know, maybe a single very a very good player. He’s already he’s already awesome and he has like and there’s space for him to get a lot better as as a 25-year-old. So, one and two were easy in this exercise, right? One and two were easy. And then I got to three and four in the little spreadsheet and I said, “Who’s three? Who is the Blazers third best player?” And then I went to the executive producer group chats. Uh, let’s talk about that and let’s talk about the debate between three and four. There’s two names. You probably know who they are. Um, you and I think there is a strong case for one of them, but I will say that wasn’t what my gut said right away. Join me in that second segment. We will talk about the third and fourth best player on the Trailblazers roster. Before we do that though, I want to tell you about game time. I think one and two were easy in this exercise. I got to three and four and I said like, who is it? So, I went to my executive producer group chat. Uh, these gentlemen do not do not know that I’ve ever referred to them as that. And also, this is a name that I made up for them right before pressing record on the show when I realized I was going to share this little anecdote. But, um, these are my friends who have worked in and around the NBA for over a decade. Um, basketball opinions who I trust and appreciate. And I said, “Hey, who’s the Blazer’s third best player and who’s their fourth best player?” And my gut was that it was Drew Holiday. I said, like, I think Drew is three. And uh a couple of my a couple of my executive producers chimed in and said, “It’s probably Shaden Sharp, right?” And I said, “Well, is it Drew?” I said, “Well, it’s either Drew or Shaden.” We went back and forth. And I think I think I’m leaning in the end here. I’m leaning towards Shaden Sharp as a Blazer’s third best player, but it’s relatively close. And it’s relatively close recognizing that they’re not particularly similar players. Like they’re just they’re just not they’re not. Shaden Sharp profiles as this like elite scorer and the best version of him is like a like ball in your hands go get a bucket type of scorer and Drew Holidayiday is like the quintessential highlevel role player who doesn’t need the ball in his hands and in fact early in his career when you put the ball in his hands a bunch he just didn’t look as good and like um you know I I I think you kind of he’s become this elite complimentary part and like you know from watching Drew it’s like yeah ask him to treat him much less like a point guard guard and you get the most out of him, right? Like he can guard all over the court, but like and he can certainly guard point guards and maybe as he gets older he can guard up a couple positions better, but like he’s not the ball in your hands type scoreer. It’s like you look like even just like they’re counting numbers last year. It’s like Shane’s Shane Sharp averaged 18 and a half, four and a half and and 2.8 assists. Uh Drew Holiday 11.1 points, 4.3 boards, 3.9 assists. You look at that and you’re like, well yeah, like Shane Sharp’s better. He scored seven more points per game, but like that ignores the defensive impact and stuff. Um, they shot like relatively similar, although like the usage is so much different for Sharp and for than Drew. Um, Drew shot better from three than Sharp did. Um, and like their advanced stats kind of um is in some ways maybe in the eye of the beholder. Drew is uh Dunks and Thre’s EPM that’s estimated plus minus thinks Drew was better last year. Um, peer says that uh, Shaden was a little bit better. It’s like they’re they’re very similar players. Um, and I think one thing if you are in the real nerd community is you see people just share like this uh, share the darko DPM progression charts. And I really kind of despise these. I’m going to tell you all the truth because I do not think reducing basketball to a fun graph is like is the way to prove anything. It’s an interesting data point, but it’s not proving anything. And I think too often in sort of the nerd online arguments, it’s like, look at this graph. This is this is it. This is who’s better. But um I’m going to do that real quick. If you’re watching on YouTube, look at this graph. Uh the red line you’re looking at here is Drew Holiday’s career. The blue line you’re looking at here is uh Shane Sharp’s career. Uh Drew Holidayiday always significantly better during the during his entire career and including during the first couple years of Shaden Sharp’s career. Boy, do those lines get close. If you’re watching on audio, let me tell you, uh, Drew’s arc heads down towards the mean and Shaden Sharps or towards like zero towards the league average. And Drew and Shaden Sharp’s graph is skyrocketing up towards league average. Um, yeah, like I think this perfectly illustrates my confusion a little bit here and some of my um some of maybe my beliefs versus the executive producers beliefs. I think Shaden Sharp is a Blazer’s third best player. I also think this means like this has something to do with what what does best mean? What is best? Um I I think it’s something subjective and I think that’s kind of the interesting part about these top 100 list. I actually kind of hate these lists, but I’ll participate because I’m a I I like I appreciate the podcast network and I I like doing this and I like um it does give you something something to discuss that that has um at least a small amount of merit. Although like I I do think parsing like is he the 29th best player, the 34th best player is largely meaningless. So like I won’t get too deep into that. But who’s better is like a very normal basketball conversation. I’m not I’m not worried about that. But like yeah, who’s who is better between Shane Sharp and Drew Hald? It kind of depends on what you want. If you’re just picking like career, you’re going to pick the 22-year-old over the 35year-old. I feel like you’re saying like who do I think will be better moving into the future? But I also think like at the end of last season, Drew Holiday looked like bumpy enough at the end of the season that you could say like Shayen Sharp is better than he is now. It that has never been the case and it is finally the case. Um, this is a big year for Shay. This is a big year for him. This is the year that he proves that he’s like a really good starting two guard in the league and gets paid a whole bunch of money to be exactly that. And for Drew, who’s already got the money coming to him, this is a chance to sort of bounce back after a down year uh and a ch in Boston and a change of scenery. Um you know, if you’re talking about best like needed to win one game today, I might take Drew Holiday to win one game today. Need to win one playoff series. I think that gets a little bit closer. I might lean Drew because of the defensive impact. He’s he’s an elite defensive player. He was certainly was not as good last year. was uh than he had been in previous seasons, but he had a run of being one of the best, you know, defensive players of his generation for uh prior to prior to a down season last year in Boston. And Sharp really struggles on that end. And I don’t think Sharp’s secondary production is particularly impressive in terms of like being a separator from Drew. Um like, you know, he’s Drew averages, you know, one more assist per game, but like they just play differently, right? Like it’s like Drew is not this elite playmaker, but Shaden Sharp is just like straight up not a playmaker at this point in his career. Although occasionally he does throw these really really impressive passes that make me think like you you could probably do that more often if you really put your mind to it, bud. Um, but I think uh I think I’m going to say with my final ranking here, Denny, Tumani, Shaden, Drew, that’s your top four. Let’s talk about five. And who comes after five? Because I I I do think even if you think Drew Holidayiday is better than Sharp and I actually think all of my listeners are going to be screaming that Shaden Sharp is better than Drew Holiday and I think that’s fair. Um like I think the certainly the graph is headed that way but I think if I was thinking like best kind of like one game maybe a playoff but if you’re talking like a season I probably I’ll probably lean sharp for the season. So it depends on best. So I’m going to I’m going to land on sharp because it’s like if we’re talking who’s going to be the best player for the Blazers over 82 games that’s where I think I land. I think I land on sharp. best player for the Blazers next season over the biggest chunk of the season. That’s four. Who’s five? Who is the fifth best player on the Blazers roster? And who’s even in the running for it? And are any of those guys that are going to be on the list on five and below? Do they have a chance to jump into this top four? Let’s talk about that to close the show. Join me there, won’t you? Still a pass versus point guard. I’m still Mike Richmond. you are still listening to Locked on Blazers. We’re talking the Blazers fifth best player. I think the top four I think the top four is pretty pretty solid in some order. Um and I think the order I ended up in is probably the thing I mean I believe it’s the most correct. I think but I but I think that’ll be the the most popular top four. Although I think there’s case for other gentlemen. The the fifth name here like it should be Jeremy Grant. Jeremy Grant actually should be the Blazers third best player, right? Like Jeremy Grant should not be so deep buried down this list that it’s like, yeah, he’s probably the fifth best player cuz like but he just struggled so much last season. He really did. He was still okay on defense. Um he wasn’t awesome, but he had some moments where he was pretty darn good. Um he just couldn’t score inside the ark. He really struggled at the rim. uh you know, under 45% at the rim for for someone his size is just um it’s hard to understand. Under 40% from from two in general um is just wild. And while he was still like a league averageish three-point shooter, he had been above 40 in the prior seasons. And it’s like when you take that step back, it’s like, yeah, you’re just worse across the board. He was I think he had some moments where he’s very good on defense. I think on the whole he was a positive defender. Um he should be the name here, but he just struggled. so dang much last season that I don’t feel comfortable putting him any higher than probably five. He doesn’t do secondary stuff. Jeremy Grant doesn’t rebound. Um it’s dude’s playing in the league for a decade. It’s just it is what it is. He’s not a passer. Um he’s he’s uh at his best he’s like a really good complimentary piece. Um I think he has fancied himself more than that. And in Detroit in a couple seasons in Portland he has been gifted a role or given a role. Gifted is kind of rude. I apologize. He’s been given a role that is that is that and he’s um shown to varying degrees how much he’s capable of doing that. But the best version of Jeremy Grant is probably like your third or fourth best offensive player and your second or third best defender and like a dude who just like is rangy on defense and can shoot and score a little bit in isolation when you really need to, but isn’t asked to do it very much, but mostly just shoots and defends and like is disruptive with his athleticism and his long arms. that version of Jeremy Grant probably is the Blazers fifth best player. He just wasn’t there last year. He should be the name here. And I think you can make the case that he still is because like we know what he can be. But this it what I think I’m I I’m moving towards with the this list based on the way I rank Shaden Sharp is who is going to be the Blazers best player over 82 games next season. And and for me, I think Donovan Klingan absolutely has to be in that conversation. He’s pretty limited on offense. And even even using the phrase pretty limited might be a generous way to describe his offensive impact. He’s, you know, get offensive rebounds, but he doesn’t have postgame. Um, they never unlocked his passing. Hopefully, that’s something they can get to more this season. Um, while he like has theoretical range, it’s not like something that was real. He just like he didn’t he’s not a lob threat cuz he he doesn’t like he needs a little more space to leap and yada yada. Like he he he might get there, right? He might improve and grow on offense. And then when this will be a different conversation, but he’s already a very good defensive player and he’s already good enough on defense that he is broadly a positive impact because he he doesn’t try to do too much on offense. Like he struggles, but he doesn’t try to do too much. He’s not going to sort of get in the way. He’s a he sets mean picks and like that that is helpful and he’s an offensive rebounder. He kind of understands his role there, but he’s just he’s a really good positional defender. um you know he blocks he blocks shots and he what he does best and this is crucial is he just deters folks at the rim. His numbers of of of um reduction in in shot attempts at the rim not just like blocking shots or guys like missing shots. The number of of shots that are not attempted was just tracked on clean the glass just like the decrease in rim attempts when he’s on the court period. guys who either, you know, pulling up and taking little floaters or mid-range jump shots or just not even attacking and spraying jumpers anyways cuz like we can’t get to the rim, he’s too dang big. Um, that that that’s already at a very very high level stuff. Like he’s he’s he’s a very good defender. I think there’s a world in which Donovan takes a like a minor leap on offense and a and a and plays at the level he did over the final, say, 30 games last year on defense for 82 games. And it’s like, yeah, this is one of the better defensive centers in the entire league. And then you’re like, yeah, he might shoot, he might be the Blazers fifth best player. He might be better than that. Um, because of how, you know, like defense is, you know, offense is probably more important skill on the whole, but for like centers, defense is more important. Like positionally, like defense is more important. Offense is more important for point guards, defense more important for centers. It’s just kind of how the how the sport works. Um, if you’re seven feet tall and can defend like Klingan, you’re you’re useful. I think Klingan is is in that conversation and Scoot probably deserves some consideration here in terms of in just sort of terms of the Blazers were more effective when you played if that’s what best means. Scoot Henderson was a lot better than Jeremy Grant last year. If you just look at like how did the Blazers do in the minutes you played. When Jeremy Grant played, not good. When Scoot played, they were better and his teammates were better. Like he helped his teammates be better. Scoot still has some rocky stuff, right? He he he he even when he I thought he played a lot, he started slow last year and then kind of found his rhythm and I don’t think he closed the season super strong at all. Um but he had a stretch in the middle where it’s just like yeah, you’re good. Like you’re you’re you’re an effective part of the effective part of the plan. Um you know, like he was the he’s the best connective passer on on the team last year. Probably the best connective passer on the team this year. Um he like he can keep the he can keep the sort of boat moving better than anyone else. Like he just like he keeps the he he he he can he’s can really tack, right? He finds the wind. Um so like he he he if if best means like positive impact on your teammates, Scoot is was better than Jeremy Grant. If best means like would you help any random team more like I think you could make a case for Jeremy Grant. Um, and it’s it’s and I do think that best should mean like if you were dropped in any situation, not if you were dropped in the situation you’re currently in. And so like I I I could see the case for Jeremy Granch like he’s better at stuff that is more helpful and Scoot like is is needs a specific situation like he needs the ball in his hands to play point guard with space and operate and all those things. Um, like Klingan and Scoot were like more positively impactful in their minutes on the court for the Portland Trailblazers last year for for for than Jeremy was. So, I think they they’re in the conversation for five and they’re young and improving and like Jeremy Grant is on the wrong side of 30. He’s on the fine side of 30 quite frankly, but for athletes, um, I think there’s a world in which both those gentlemen are just like we get to the end of the year and they’re straight up better than Jeremy Grant. Um, that’s that’s like the beauty of July is we’ve got a long way to go. I I think like those are your top those are your top seven, right? Um it’s like, you know, there’s there’s a place where like Matise Thyel belongs on this list somewhere down here. He’s floating around below these other gentlemen because like in his narrow role, like if you’re like, “Hey, you’re going to you’re not going to be an on ball defender all the time. You’re mostly going to be an off-ball disruptive defender and on offense you’re not going to have a big ask. you’re going to get, you know, stand still shooting. Matis can occasionally just nail that role better than anyone else. He’s one of the most disruptive offball defenders in the league. He’s a good on ball defender, but that’s not his like that’s not what makes him elite on defense by any means. That’s he’s fine on he’s fine at that. He’s elite as an off-ball disruptive defender. Like um you know, baiting guys into throwing passes they don’t want, chasing someone from behind on a like catch and shoot and blocking a shot they never saw coming. Uh blocking jump shots because people don’t think he can get all the way there. It’s like he’s not a sit down, lock you up in a stance defender. He’s a defensive playmaker and he’s a lead at it. If it’s like this is like for if that’s why I’m thinking about like um I offer the caveat of like any random team. The player that would help most across 82 games for any random team like Matise wouldn’t for any team because of his limitations on offense. He’s not a he doesn’t dribble very well and he’s not a shooter. Um he’s an okay shooter but he’s not a playmaker. So, like some of like if you you know if you run him off the line, you can there’s some benefits to to just saying like, “Hey, make him put it on the floor and you’ll see what happens.” Matise certainly belongs in this realm, right? Uh you’ll notice that I didn’t mention Damen Lillard. I don’t think I can like he’s not going to play this year. I don’t think I can put him on the top 100 players list if he’s not going to participate. When he’s back, we’ll see like what level he is and he could jump up very high again, right? But for me, I wouldn’t rank him just because of availability. Um, and some of the unknowns I feel like uncertain about how good he’ll be relative to these other guys, but obviously he’s he he’s in the conversation. Rob Williams, the idea of him is very good, but he’s just not not um not quite there. No one else on the back half of the Blazers roster is sort of in this conversation. That’s the rankings. If you have your own, you can share them with me. Uh, if you’re a YouTube watcher, you can just leave them in the leave them in the comment section on YouTube. Give me your give me your top four and maybe top five if you’re into it. or you can email me locksonblazerspodgmail.com. Although if you send me a ranking players list, there’s a chance that I read it and just say, “All right, cool.” Because that’s how I feel about all ranking players list. Thanks for rocking me with my own um as as we release our top 100 on Lockton NBA. Uh we will get into it and talk about where all the Blazers land. Um some news, some some news, some updates about the pod. Next week we are shifting to three episodes a week for six weeks. So from uh the pub the publishing schedule moving forward will be Monday, Wednesday and Friday. And we will do that until the middle of September. Six weeks. Um this is just for my sanity quite frankly. Uh we do this every year. We switch from 5 days a week and then we spend six weeks uh with with three a week. 46 weeks out of the year we get five of these things. Um that’s a lot and I’m I’m proud to do them um the way I do them. This is just um to a little reset, a little mental reset. Uh what we typically do this time of year and we will do it again is I’m going to bring on some of the local folks who cover the Blazers. Um and they will we’ll have long conversations and we will I will play those will be several episodes with the folks, you know, who cover the team uh on a day-to-day basis and you will get uh get all of their insights on what’s up with the team. Um so look for those and then we will come back to five days a week in September. You’re still going to get shows. you’ll still there’ll still be a show in your feed Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. So, you can still tell your friends about it. It’s just now 5 days a week. Um and then then we’ll keep it rolling. Um once once we get into it in September, we’ll hit the ground running and the season will be upon us and um it’ll be fun. I’m I’m I’m looking forward to it. Uh tell your friends about the show. I appreciate you listening. I’ll talk to you soon. Hey. Hey. Hey.

  1. Mike g rich I cannot believe my ears. Shaedon Sharpe better than 2 time NBA champ and 2 time Olympian Jrue “knocked away and stolen by Holiday” Holiday?? “If I needed to win one game, I’d maybe pick Jrue” “if I needed to win the season, maybe Jrue??” Can’t believe my ears, man. If I needed one smart play, one stop, one dude to win a game or be a better player for the team, I’m still taking 35 year old Jrue Holiday over Shaedon. Even after a down season. And I frankly don’t feel like it’s close.

  2. The Blazers generally never use Jeremy to do any promotion or media take on the team. His exit interview was not positive about being part of the team this year. Perhaps with Dame coming back it might spark him to get more down with the program but I'm still thinking they are trying to make a deal. Do you know if he is working out with the team in the voluntary sessions or doing his own thing?

  3. Hey MIKE, There's absolutely no need to apologize for taking time off for yourself and your family in the middle of summer and over 2 months before the NBA season begins!
After a long season, playoffs, the lottery, the draft, free agents, trades, and Summer League, you deserve a friggin' break!!! Now, dammit, GO FOR IT!!!!!

  4. In my2K ratings:

    0) Damian Lillard 89 pre-injury | 87 off-injury | 86 rookie year

    —– —– —– —– —– —– —– —– —–

    1) Deni Avdija 84

    2) Jrue Holiday 83

    3) Toumani Camara 81

    4) Robert Williams III 80

    5) Donovan Clingan 79

    6) Matisse Thybulle 78

    8) Shaedon Sharpe 77

    9) Yang Hansen 76

    10) Jerami Grant 75

    11) Scoot Henderson 74

    12) Duop Reath 73

    13) Rayan Rupert 71

    14) Kris Murray 70

    15) Blake Wesley 69

    16) James Bouknight 67
    17) Sidy Cissoko 66

  5. I love Sha, but I don't think that any player with low productivity should be in a discussion of "best player"…maybe its also more helpful on the long term to say…"hey…we only got two that deserved to be under that heading"?

  6. I had Holiday at #3 because I thought we were talking about players today not projecting for next season, but if we're projecting for the season then I'm with you.
I honestly had Clingan at #4 because he'll have a better shooting percentage than Sheadon and his defense is so helpful.

  7. Sharpe shouldn't even be a starter. He's such a bad decision maker that even rookies have higher bball IQ. For every positive thing he does, he does a negative twice.
