He did have a nice 7 inning 0 runs 11Ks against the Dodgers this year. His stuff and velocity is still there. But his ball location has tanked. Too many meatballs served, leading to more HRs and hard hits this year. He was never a low-walks guy either, making the problem even worse.
I truly believe he is still that pitcher….pitcher slumps happen to. Im afraid we trade him, he get his shit together and we lose a solid arm.
Father Time is undefeated
Maybe we need Campy to be his personal catcher
I remember where I was. Coms summer class and a friend of mine somehow managed to have internet access. He kept telling me every now and then what the score was. When he said “Dude I think it’s going to be a nohitter” I left the classroom and went outside to listen to Jesse make the call. Managed to listen to the entire ninth inning and it was absolutely joyous.
The Cease hate can halt, it’s ok to have a down year off a great career so far
I was there, yay
Pitchers do just position players have off years. It’s baseball.
A friend from Hawaii went to the game. It was rain delayed so not a lot of people stuck around and they were visiting DC. Couldn’t believe it when he texted, prob the only Padres game he ever saw lol
I flew red-eye to DC last year and got in the morning of the game. Was just part of my quest to hit all the MLB parks, as I was following the Pads to Baltimore the next day. Dead tired from my flight, rain-delay, and then brought back to life by the no-no. When Merrill caught the bobbled pop-up, I had a feeling it was the day.
It’s wild how, since 2020, this fanbase has become so entitled and quick to hate on Padres players who aren’t perfect.
