MLB LIVE🔴 Miami Marlins vs Milwaukee Brewers – Jul 25, 2025 | Full Game MLB 2025 EN VIVO
so almost ready to get underway. And on the hill in this one, Brandon Woodruff. Well, this guy’s just been filthy out there on the mound. Hitters batting under 200 against him and they’re just having a hard time squaring up anything, doing any type of damage. The only way he hurts himself is if he gives up the free passes and surreners a rare home run. But outside of that, it’s going to be a tough job for the opposing lineup today. Okay, all set to go. And now for the Marlins, Xavier Edwards. And he lays down a bunt. Not in time. An infield knock to start the inning. Nearly a highlight reel play at third, but the bare hand grab still wasn’t enough to get the out. Great effort to make that play as close as it was though. Jesus Sanchez the next up for the Marlins. Fouled off. He was late. That’s out. Oh, he’s really working him away this at bat. Sometimes take a little bit off velocity. Try to get a roll over something on the ground. Stay away from that big hole on the right side of the infield. The next offering misses and it’s two and one. That one cold foul. Left-hand hitter waits and there’s a ball. So, here we go. Base runner at first. Could be running on the pitch. He’s got good enough speed to steal the bag to get in scoring position. Even if it’s a swing and miss at the plate. Runs it up to 96 to record the punch out. That was just a beautiful fast ball on the inside corner for that backwards K right there. I think the hitter saw it all the way. coming from that opposite arm angle. So, I got to think he was looking away and just got locked up by the hard stuff boring in on his hands. Here goes the runner. Ball outside. Save with a stolen base. I think that steel kind of sets the tone not just for this game but for the entire series. First inning, game one. So that kind of tells me they’re going to be aggressive on offense and try to force the issue whenever they can. Edwards the runner at second with one away. Splits the plate. Now he’s in a one-two hole. See if you can go upstairs a little bit. Make sure you miss up and out of the zone since you’re heading to count one, two. Don’t miss in the zone because that’s where you get hurt. Perkins tracks it down for the out. And time now for the Marlins lineup. One of the more high-powered lineups in the game right now. It’s built to do damage and they got some hitters that could punish the baseball. Chris, so fun to watch these players take their at bats. I mean, they’re so disciplined. Don’t give not just at bats away, but really pitches away. very aggressive, competitive in the zone, and when they connect, there’s usually some loud noise to it. So, we’ll keep our ears open today. And there’s a foul ball. Gets the outside corner with that one. misses. Now one and two. I don’t know how you take that one after the called strike on the corner. Just a little bit off the edge. Fouls it off. Still one and two. Breaking ball misses down and away. Really good take especially with two strikes. Count is three and two. Kyle Sters in the on deck circle hoping to get a chance to make a big impact here. Woodrift deals out towards left center. Perkins sizes this one up. Drops into the glove. And that is that one left for Miami. Now it’s the Brewers turn. It’s a scoreless ball game. Major League Baseball is on the show. Back here in Milwaukee, starting on the mound in this one, Yuri Perez. Base runners are tough to come by with him out there, Chris. Well, what quickly stands out to me for this guy is that he comes in with a 3 to1 strikeout to walk ratio on the season. So when you consider consistency, the ability to get swings and misses and to limit base runners, that’s critical in winning games today, especially when teams are depending on the big swing, the home run to win ball games. Bryce Terra leading things off and takes the strike. And a foul ball. 0 and2 now. Some heat there at 98 m anph. With that kind of velocity, an elevated fast ball, even if it’s still in the strike zone, can be tough for hitters to get on top of. William Contreres in the box now. No balls in a strike. One down. Base is empty. Just missed. That one’s in there. One and two. Back-to-back fast balls in. That last one called for a strike. Probably go away, but look for him to come back in there to try to finish you off. Strike three and that’s two in a row. Thought it was a pretty good pitch. Top of the strike zone. We’re seeing more fast balls in that location. Hitters, especially with two strikes, have to be ready to pull the trigger. Yeah. Now it’s Christian Yelich. Oh, he doesn’t get the call. Ball one. That one in triple digits. Looks really sharp at the start of this one. This is how it’s going to be today. It’s going to be a tough one for this lineup. Swings through that. clearly was sitting on a fast ball right there and just ended up out in front of the slider. Hey, you can’t fault him for his commitment. Now he’s just going to have to battle with two strikes. That one outside the count now two and two. Two out. Space is empty. Swing and a popup. Foul territory for the catcher. He’s got it. That is the inning. Brewers go down quietly, scoreless after one. Back here at American Family Field. Now it’s the DH Kyle Sters. Sters measures 6’2 in 27 years old and they went out and made a trade for him last season. And that is out of play. Just missed. Ed Drummond behind the plate calling balls and strikes. maybe one of the most respected umpires around the league. He’s not the kind of umpire that you’re likely to notice back there. And that can be a huge compliment really. So, if you’re just kind of quietly doing your job, staying consistent with your calls, hitters, pitchers, managers, even fans, they’re all going to appreciate you. Ed Drummond, he’s that kind of umpire. Chorio makes the grab. One down. Fans don’t really understand the familiarity and relationship players and coaches have with umpires. I mean, you see them a lot. Yeah, B. They’re all out there trying to do their best and perform at a high level. So when you respect that, I think over time you can develop a relationship with them. Liam Hicks at the plate now. That’s ball one. Next pitch, not close up high. As the game has moved along, we see more and more information supplied by teams about the umpires. I’ve been in clubouses where they have pictures of all four guys, nicknames, hometowns, and as well hobbies listed just so you can kind of small talk the umpire a little bit. That’s great. That just came apart right there. Four pitch walk and guy at the plate was not going to help him out by swinging at something out of his own. Now here is Ariberto Hernandez in there at the knees. That’s strike one. Hicks stands at first with one out. Can’t connect on the curve ball struck and out. So he’s down on just three pitches. Watch the first two and then chased after the third. Yeah, not a very good at bat right there, Boo. But that was also some excellent pitching. The O and 01 pitches were both right on the edge of the strike zone, so it’s not like he watched two cookies go by. Then a great job of expanding and making him chase the O2 knowing he would be in protect mode. And up next for Miami, Graham Paulie. That misses. And that’s ball one. Second inning here. No score. Next offering is downstairs. Two. Swag. Get a popup foul out of play off to the right side. That’ll find the stands. Two outs and that one fouled off. Milwaukee swing and a miss at 96. Struck him out. That K is his third of the game. Marlins leave one. We’ll go to the bottom of the second. No score. And welcome back to the ballpark. Bottom of the second. Now it’s the right fielder Jackson Chorio. Rio swing and a miss. Just not able to catch up to that velocity. And a slider misses down and away. Next offering is fouled back. spoils a two strike pitch and he’ll see another. I wouldn’t throw him another breaking ball. Try to go again with a fast ball. Slightly elevated. He just having a hard time catching up. Foul ball. Still a one and two count. The healthy cut. Tough pitch at 98, but a really good pass at the ball. Chases in the dirt. slider there up with it. Fires to first. Got him one away on the strike out. You know, you often think of sliders more for that horizontal movement, but most of the good ones have both vertical depth and that horizontal movement. And that’s what we saw right there. Good drop on the break and got him to swing over the top. So, up next, Isaac Collins and that misses and that is ball one. swing and a miss. There’s the change up. One and one. The one-1 is fouled off. One out. Base is empty. swings and misses on the fast up in the zone for the strike out. Oh, he’s really dialed in and this offense is going to have to do something to try to break that rhythm. Maybe it’s square around the bond, step out of the box, agitate him a little bit, do something that just changes what’s happening right now because at this pace it’s going to be a long game so you got to figure it out quickly. Andrew Vaughn now breaking ball inside and that’s ball one. And another ball. Two balls. No strike. And a strike. Looks like a really good fast ball today. You can hear that catcher mitt popping. Looking forward to hearing a lot of that one in this one. That’s to third. Throws to first. That ends the frame. Gone in order are the Brewers. We’ll move to the third with no score. Onto the third inning. Here’s the center fielder, Dane Meyers. He’s going to finish with a new career high in stolen bases. Chris, Woodri back to work. And there’s the strike. Foul ball there. And that’s off the inside edge. Going to count one and two. Slider misses outside. bends another and that’s three straight strikeouts. Came inside with that two strike fast ball nicely and just bunched him up on the inside part of the plate. Couldn’t get around on it and catch it out front. Many times if you do, it’s a foul ball. And you know, a lot of pitchers, they really don’t like working inside with two strikes because they do not want to hit that batter. And when they’ve got him up against the ropes, got to figure out a way to put them away. Did a nice job right there. Edwards batting with one down. Takes the strike. Swung on, popped up left side. Ortiz on the move and it’s caught for the out. Sanchez. Jesus Sanchez. The next up for the Marlins. Go. That one finds the zone. Strike one. This batter has to understand his job is to get on base however he can. If he gets hit by a pitch, if he walks, maybe even singles, but you want to get the heart of the order up to the plate. Top of the third, no score. Fast for a strike. fights that one away. Still one and two. Ground ball right side and that chance handled onto first. Marlins set down in order. Nothing doing for the Marlins. Still no score. And we’re back. Now it’s the switchhitting outfielder Blake Perkins. and he grounds one back up the middle. Oh, what a stop. And that’s a great play for the out. Look at how he dives right there. He’s able to pop up to both knees. Not enough time to get to his feet, but he threw a cannon across the diamond to get the runner. This is Anthony Seagler. First pitch misses. Outside corner. There’s a strike. That one fouled off. fouls it off. Still one and two. One down. Base is empty. Foul ball still a one and two count. Here’s a swing and a little roller up along first and it goes just foul and that just misses. Eighth pitch of the bat coming up. That’s ripped. base hit. So he ends up with a hit after seeing a lot of pitches. That was a good at bat. Just one of those at bats you almost hate to see come to an end. Nice job going the opposite way with it, letting the ball travel and not allowing the barrel to hook around the ball. It’s so frustrating when you see a good pitch and your hands roll over. It was on the outside part of the plate and he approached it perfectly. And here is Joseph Ortiz. Line drive. No trouble here. Puts it away for the out. Out number two. The batter up to second base. So the batting order turns over. This is Bryce Terang. And there’s a strike. Good heater at 98. Two gone, but the go-ahead run is at first here in the last half of the third. 0 and two now inside and it hit him. He had two strikes on him and he hit him and now it’s William Contreres struck out swinging his first time in the air center field. Meyers gets under it and that will end the inning. Brewers strand a couple and we are still scoreless. Back here in Milwaukee. Here’s the shortstop at the plate. Otto Lopez. And that’s in for a strike. And a foul ball. Gets a piece and it stays 0 and two. just off the outside part of the plate. Really nice slider right there. Sweeping across the dish, but just couldn’t hang the edge. Swing and a miss. Struck him out. Now five strikeouts for him on the mound. Augustine Ramirez the next up for the Marlins. 0 for one with a fly out to center. And that’s in there for strike one. Oh, he’s looking great so far. It helps when over 80% of your first pitches are strikes. He might be able to go the distance if he keeps this up. Hard grounder into the outfield for a knock. And they have their first hit since the first inning. Dominant performance for him today. Boo. Just two hits allowed so far. No runs across either. And he’s had an answer for just about every hitter he’s faced. So I don’t think this hit is going to knock him off his stride too much. Now here’s the Marlins DH. Kyle Sters flyed to right his first time. This one high in the air to left center. Perkins sizing this one up and there’s two away. Liam Liam Hicks the next to hit walked his first time. A little bit high maybe. Ball one. Ramirez off of first with two away. Next offering in there for a strike and a count one and one. Late that time and it’s strike two. He has a tendency to chase out of the zone. And that slider that’s down, that’s one of his money pitches to get that swing and miss. Fights that one away. Still one and two. Ouch. He had him one, two, and he ends up hitting him with a pitch. Now the left fielder, Arberto Hernandez. right through there for a strike. That misses the zone. One and one. Comes up empty. That’s strike two. One ball, two straight. Bows it off. Still one and two. Two aboard, two outs. Pitch misses and the count is two and two. Two strikes and a foul ball. He stays alive. Two on, two outs. And a swinging a miss. And that’s six Ks for him in this one. Oh, this guy competes hard. We see the emotion there. I love it. Great job of getting out of the jam. Back here at American Family Field. Now it’s Christian Yelich. Slider for a strike. Next pitch is inside. And now it’s even one and one. There’s the strike. One ball, two strikes. Fouls it back with two strikes. Let go. Let go. Foul ball. Still a one and two count. Almost got him. Spoils that one. And it remains two and two. And that’s ruled a swing. It’s a strike out. Oh, big power guy right there and generating so much bat speed. It’s hard to bring that to a halt once you committed. They tried to check the swing, just couldn’t do it. Chorio batting for the second time. And that’s strike one. Next offering is in for a strike. Fouled off the plate. They’ll do it again. The O2 got him swinging. And Chris, that’s a way to neutralize his speed by keeping him off base. And the defense breathes a sigh of relief because he puts pressure on everyone if he can put the ball in play. But that’s how you do it. Keep him off balance, get him out of there, and deal with the next guy. Isaac Collins up now for the Brewers. Ball one there. Two down, nobody on. We’re here in the bottom of the fourth. And that one lifted in the air. Center field. Makes the catch and go over through four. Still tied. Zip. Zip. Ready now for the fifth inning. Now the third baseman, Graham Paulie, and immediately pumps in a strike to the left-handed hitter. Bounding ball here. Rolls foul. That’s down and in that one way inside. Two strikes. Rip to third. Sends it to first. One away here in the fifth. Now the center Dane Meers. Now the batter now Dane Meyers. He was a strikeout victim his first time. down the line. Chorio on the run towards the line feeling for the wall. Makes the catch and foul ground. Oh, those can be pretty fun as an outfielder. Got to put it into his highest gear and go a long way to track that one down. Nothing better than that. You feel like a wide receiver playing football. Edwards up to hit for the third time as he lays off inside ball one. Swinging a foul straight back. Check. Swing went around and it’s one and two. Two strikes. That one is upstairs. Lifted in the air out to left. Collins makes the play and it’s out number three. Halfway through this one, still no score. And welcome back to the ballpark. Bottom of the inning up now for Milwaukee. Andrew Vaughn tap foul at the plate. Check swing. Did he go? No, he didn’t. That one missed. Swing and a miss as he was out front. That front door slider is such a devastating pitch. You don’t want to get beat by the inside fast ball. So, you cheat a little bit and then by the time it gets there, it’s out of the swing plane. Got it. Picks up strikeout number seven. Frustrating end to the at bat for the hitter. And I’m sure that’s going to sit on him for a little while. You want to be ready to hit the fast ball. Sometimes you can overthink things and I think that was the case right there. Perkins takes a ball as he stands in for the second time. All tied up. Last half of inning number five. Swing and a miss as he was late that time. Threw that fast right by him. Slightly elevated. That’s a confidence boost for this guy out there on the mound. See if he continues to climb the ladder. One ball, two strike. One down, base is empty. Misses off the inside. And that’s ball two. Just misses the mark outside the zone. Three and two. The pitch is outside and ball four. Pretty good spot on the outside, but just couldn’t quite clip the zone. That’s a stone cold take. Runner on at first with one gone. Next to hit, Anthony Seagler. One for one with a single so far in the dirt. the tag and got him at second. You know, Boo, this is the part of the game that often time is overlooked. This is the grunt work. Great job of the catcher using his body to deaden that pitch. Keeps it close and then throws a strike down to second. Hats off the 10. And a strike in there. The 1-1 is fouled off. Swings and misses at the breaking ball in the dirt. Ramirez collects, fires to first, and it’s in time for the third out. So that’ll end the inning. Sixth inning coming up. Still nothing on the scoreboard. All right, we go to the top half of inning number six. Now the number two hitter, Jesus Sanchez. Woodri back to work and ball one to the right fielder. That’s out to center field. Perkins moving under this one. Hauls it in for the batting. And now the shorts stop. Otto Lopez for two in this one. And that’s a little high. Meanwhile, activity in the bullpen. Grant Anderson, the hardthrowing righty, is up and loosening. Mere getting loose as well. Base is empty, one away. And we’re in the top half of the sixth. The change up missing. Now 2 and 0. That clips the corner. That was good pitch there. Really had some run and finished little up and in just on the edge. And that’s one of those if you swing at it, he had a broken bat as you jog back to the dugout. Still two and two after the foul ball and a swing and a miss and he’s up to seven strikeouts. Oh, really expanded the zone right there with that fast ball off the outside corner of the plate. Got him to chase it. That’s a tough one to lay off of because it starts close to you and just continues to run away from you in that batter’s box. So, it’s a really nice pitch with two strikes. Now, a chance for Augustine Ramirez. And first pitch fastball is in for a strike. battling here as he fouls it away. Two down to swaying and a ball popped in the air and it drops in. Well, he found himself behind in the count right there, but he didn’t give in. I don’t know how he was able to shoot that pitch the other way and still put something on it. That pitch was inside and he let it get really deep. So, pretty incredible hands to fight it off and still get good wood on it. And now Kyle Sters. And that’s off the inside edge. One and0. Here’s the swing and a line drive and a base hit to right field. So that’s two straight two out hits. I’m sure he feels really good about that one. 110 mph. And man, that exit velocity, not every hitter’s capable of getting that kind of jump off the bat, no matter how hard they swing. A chance now to take the lead. And at this point in the game, that could be a deciding run. So, digging in, Liam Hicks. That clips a corner. Hot shot to third. Takes it to the base for the force out. And that is the inning. Make it six shut out innings for him out there now. And we still have no score. Joseph Ortiz up now for the Brewers. Ortiz not having as much success with the bat here at home as you see the splits that misses and it’s one and0 activity in the bullpen. Anthony Bender the right-handed sinker baller. He looks to be readying himself. Gibson a left-hander also throwing. And that one fouled off. had a breaking ball misses outside. Here’s an opportunity to do some damage and perhaps unlock this offense. 3-1 count. Be ready to turn on a fast ball. And it’s fouled off. They’ll do it again. And a popup on the left side of the infield. Paulie right there to make the grab. And there’s one away. That was a good hard fast ball with some nice ride up in the zone right there. hitter looked like he was on it, but I think that velocity at the end just beat him. Instead of a line drive or something hit deep, it’s a pop up and an easy out for the defense. And we’ve got ourselves a pitching change number 66. And they felt it was time to bring on a left-handed reliever from the pin with the lefty hitter coming up. I think that’s a good move. I know. I never liked when opposing teams did that to me. Back to the top of the Milwaukee order. Here’s the leadoff man for the Brewers, Bryce Terang. He’s 0 for one. Edwards pulls it down and there’s two away now. The kicker William William Contrus now at the plate and that drops in for a strike. Well, he had a pretty good look at that pitch and not sure exactly what tied him up there. Couldn’t pull the trigger and perhaps the best pitch you’ll see in this at bat to hit. misses just off the outside edge. I think that was a strike. Pop foul out of play off to the right. and misses inside. He should get a pretty good pitch to hit here with the three-hole hitter coming up if he’s walked. Two down, nobody on here in the bottom of the six. And a popup right side. foul territory has room and he makes the catch. Three up, three down for Milwaukee and we’re still knotted at zero. Welcome back. We’re in the seventh. We have a new pitcher on the mound, Grant Anderson. And this is appearance number 45. Here’s the left fielder, Ariberto Hernandez. First pitch just misses. Just missed. Struggled a little bit in this one. Couple of strikeouts earlier, but doing a much better job in this at bat to get ahead and find a good hitter count at 2 and 0. That one misses. And now 3 and 0. in there for a strike at the top of the zone. It’s a lead off walk and that’s the go-ahehead run that could jump start an offense that’s really struggled to score in this one. Don’t want to wake a team up with the free pass. And at the plate for Miami, Graham Paulie. Ball one, no strikes. Ball one, no strike. Sharp grounder. That’s through for a base hit. throw holds him at second, but the go-ahead run now in scoring position and still nobody out. Well, that was an important at bat in this game. So, a great job there stepping up to the challenge. Smash that one through the infield for the knock. When it’s hit that hard, it makes it very tough on the infielders to make any sort of play. Now, a good opportunity to potentially jump ahead in this game here in the later innings. First and second, no outs. And now the center fielder, Dane Meyers, just missed. and the slider just misses. Tough spot right here. A couple runners on two ball count. You can’t nibble, but you have to execute to finish your pitch. If you leave something out over the plate, it’s going to bring in some runs. And another ball. Homeplayed umpires trying to tighten things up a little bit. Savior Edwards in the on deck circle hoping to get a chance to make a big impact here. And that’ll load the bases. Oh, that sets up a really big at bat in this game. These are the moments when everyone in the stadium gets really locked in. So bases all loaded up. Xavier Edwards gets a chance to hit here. Golden opportunity right here. Chopped left side. Steps on third for one. They complete the double play with the run scores. It’s one- nothing. And now for the Marlins. Jesus Sanchez 0 for three. A fly out, a ground out, and a strike out. And a first pitch fast ball is in for a strike. Meyers at second with two down. Fouled off left side. That’s hard hit in the line and he makes the catch and that is that. So, a run-on one hit, no errors, and a man left. Midway in inning number seven, and it’s time to stretch. It’s the Marlins one and the Brewers nothing. We’re back in a new pitcher here to start the bottom of the seventh. Anthony Bender. Well, the best relievers love the opportunity to come in and protect a tight lead late in the ball game. Some of them are just wired different. So we’ll see what he’s got here. 345 do up for the home team. Christian Yell up now for the Brewers. That’s off the inside corner. Ball one. A little out front there as he swings through it. One and one. Close but called a ball and it’s two in one. Yeah, that’s fouled off. Fouls that off to the left and will do it again. looking to get the tying run on base. Got him. One away. Big time out leading off the home seven. A big first out here in the seventh via the punch out. Yeah, it just does so much to change the outlook of an important inning like this. I mean, you got the leadoff hitter so critical in setting the table when you got a tight game like this. So, a strikeout really puts them on their heels. And now Jackson Chorio. That one is absolutely belted. That’s down. One hops off the wall and the tying runs at second base with a double. Well, thirdly, he was ready to hit right there. Pretty much just a textbook double into the gap. And when you can drop one in there between the outfielders, you know you’re making the turn at first. Just an excellent swing. Now we’ll see if they can pick up that tying run and start us over here in the late innings. So the tying run in scoring position now. Isaac Collins up now for the Brewers. Third baseman playing on the edge of the grass looking for the sack ball. And that’s way high. And that’s ball one. Holding on to a one-run lead here in the bottom of the seventh. And the pitch is in for a strike. And the count one and one. This one in the air. Paulie brings it in. Two down. So two down now. And here is Andrew Vaughn and takes low for ball one. Right through there for a strike. Two outs and one at scoring position. Swing and a miss. Chased it out of the zone. One ball, two strikes. And that one is downstairs. And the count is even. Two and two. So the tying run at second foul ball another 22 upcoming out to short Lopez onto first. That’s the third out. Brewer strand one and it remains one- nothing. Welcome back. And a new arm on the mound to start the eighth. Nick Mirs. And compared to a lot of other relievers, strikeouts have not been a big weapon for him this year. So, the defense should be active. Well, one-run game. Now, it’s the shortstop. Otto Lopez 0 for three with two strikeouts and a fly out. And there’s the strike. Well, we call that keyholeing. Even though it’s right there and looks pretty good, if he doesn’t love it, he’s not going to swing that early in the count. Next offering is fouled back. Pitch misses there. One and two to count. Well, that’s kind of what you expect in an 02 count. Excellent job of the hitter to have the plate disciplined to lay off of that pitch. Keeps the bat going with a foul ball. That’s ball two. swing and a miss. Struck him out. Third time he struck out in this one. And definitely an individual performance you want to flush. He just hasn’t looked very comfortable up there. Just one of those days. But when you’re still winning the ball game, at least you can focus on doing your part to maintain that lead and getting that W. And next will be the cleanup hitter, Augustine Ramirez. And first off is fouled off. Mirs, a 6-2 righty. He features a fourseam fast ball, a slider, and he occasionally uses a curve. Base is empty, one away, and we’re in the top of the eighth. Swinging a foul out of play. Foul ball. It stays nothing and two. One down, base is empty. Outside with a breaking ball inside. Two balls, two strikes. gets a piece there. We’ll do it again. Gets a piece and stays alive. Good battle here. About to be the eighth pitch of the at bat. Next one in the dirt. These first two hitters really making him work out there. Already 14 pitches this inning. Struck him out looking. Really good battle right there. And that final pitch probably could have gone either way. He was hoping he’d get ball four. Instead, the umpire rings him off for the backwards K. Next is the designated hitter, Kyle Sters. One for three. That one pushed foul out of play off to the left. You can do it. And that’s in there for a strike. And quickly nothing at two. son down on strikes and he strikes out the side here in the eighth and one two three go the Marlins but they’re on top one- nothing back now new pitcher on the mound as we roll into the bottom of the eighth Kane Gibson this southpaw’s been really good against left-handed hitters Blake Perkins digs in now just missed. There’s the strike up high and the count one and one. Trying to keep good speed off the bases. Late swing fouled off. That’s too low. Two and two. And there’s a ball. Anthony Seedler in the deck circle hoping to get a chance to make a big impact here. Swaging a drive deep left field carrying well. It bangs off the wall around second now as they still don’t have it. The throw to third and he’s out trying for three. Well, it’s always a risk when you’re pushing for third like that. A bang bang play. He had a chance to make it. Maybe a little better slide around the tag, but a nice job by the defense to cut off that runner. Next for Milwaukee, Anthony Seagler. Right through there for a strike. And that one fouled off. swings and chases a low one there. Ramirez down to first out on the drop. Third strike, two gone. Man, it’s so difficult as a hitter to get on plane with that pitch. It’s breaking down and in. And you’ve got to find a way to match the plane. And if it’s nasty like that one, bite at the end, most times you’re swinging over the top and walking back to the dugout. And the batter will be the shortstop. Joseph Ortiz on the ground to short. Safe at first and an infield single keeps the inning going. Well, that’s one of those where you just have to tip your cap because he couldn’t have played that one any better. Stood no chance with the speed running down the line. Back to the top of the order. And here is Bryce Terang. That’s through there for a strike. Well, in this situation, the hitter knows that he’s got to find a pitch that he can drive in order to drive in that tying run all the way from first base. So, if he can’t do that, keep the line moving through a walk or just a base hit. But, you got to stay within yourself. Here comes the 01. That one the other way and the inning is over. So no runs on two hits, no errors and one left on base. Ninth inning coming up. It’s the Marlins one and the Brewers nothing. We’re back. It’s the top of the ninth and there’s a new pitcher on the mound. DL Hall. He’s throwing the ball very well overall this season. and he’s been really tough to get to. You see that erra and that’s where you love to be. Well, one run game. Now it’s going to be Liam Hicks. And first offering is fouled off. And that one upstairs. Ball one. Activity in the bullpen for the Brewers. Jacob Miserowski getting loose out there. Prester getting cranked up as well. Fights that one away. Still one and two. That’s inside. Next pitch is outside up the middle. That’s a base hit. Had a good start to the inning. Up next for the Marlins, Ariberto Hernandez. The next up for the Marlins. Started to go after it. Now a look down to first and he went around according to Clyde Washington. Up and in. And one and one. I got one ball, one strike. And that chops in for a strike. Well, it looks like he’s wanting to work the upper part of the strike. So, what does that mean? Top hand better be working for the hitters. Adjust that side a little bit. Give yourself a chance to hit off the plate inside and the count now even up. Well, he might have to look for a different putaway pitch right here 2. He’s already seen the curve ball a couple of times in this at bat, so might have it timed up and ready for it. And that’s outside. Just missing off the plate there according to the umpire and out there on the mound. Maybe trying to get an explanation. Can’t say he’s convinced, but it looks like he’s accepted it. One-run game here in the top of the ninth. swing and a miss and he is down on strikes for the third straight at bat. And up next for Miami, Graham Paulie and there’s a foul ball. Crowd locked in right now. One-run game here in the ninth. Snap throw to first and he’s back in safely. Little chopper rolls foul. Fights it off. You’ll see another. Hicks leads off first with one away. That missed by a lot. Now one and two. Knocks that one away and we’ll do it again. spoils a two- strike pitch and he’ll see another. Next offering misses down and away. Eighth pitch of the at coming up and it remains two and two. swing and a miss. Struck him out. He didn’t make it easy for him on the mound, but they still get the strike out. H interesting. He’s looking very comfortable out of the stretch after giving up the leadoff single. Backto back strikeouts. So, they haven’t been able to move that runner up, get him into scoring position and try to have a better chance of scoring. I tell you, good job so far on the mound. He just needs one more out. Meyers the next to hit takes ball one. There’s the strike. Next offering upstairs. Two one. That one missed. Clearly didn’t come out of his hand the right way. Left that curve ball way up. The 3-1 swings and hits one in the air out towards right field. Chorio puts it away and that’ll do it. So one hit is all they get. 234 set to hit in the bottom of the ninth. It’s the Marlins one and the Brewers nothing. Welcome back. And here comes the closer, Ronnie Enriquez. Well, he’s the guy they hope to turn to out of the pin to lock down wins. So, this game has gone to plan, more or less. Let’s see if he can wrap it up here. Here’s the Brewers catcher now. William Contrus 0 for three in this one. That one hooked. Fouled hit slowly on the ground. Paulie and they get the lead off man in the ninth. That’s why you hug the lines on the corners late in the ball game like this. Positioned perfectly. He’s two outs away. Here’s Yelich at the dish. Highf fly ball out towards left field. Way back there. And it bends off the wall. And now the tying run is into scoring position. Just a clutch at bat right there. Big time swing when this team really needed it. Just about got it out of here down the line to left. So I’m sure he wishes he could have put a little more behind it, but he’s got to feel good about that missile off the wall. A chance now to even the score and maybe extend this game. And now here is Jackson Chio in the first pitch. Misses for ball one. Well, comfortable or not, these are the situations closers they seem to live for. I mean, you get into some hot water, a jam, tough spot, whatever you want to call it, but this is where they earn their keep. So, the tying run at second swing and attacker rolls foul. Well, he knows they don’t want to give him anything to hit, but when you’ve got opportunities to drive in runs, you’ve got to expand the zone. He’s capable of going out there and doing damage with it. This one popped up, squeezes it, and there’s two down. Boy, that was a hanging breaking ball right there. I think he tried to do a little bit too much. Sometimes those eyes can get really big. I think his swing broke down as well and that’s what caused him to pop it up. So they’re down to their final out and now Isaac Collins trying to deliver as the hero and there’s no doubt that they’ll feed off the energy from this crowd. Right. I mean, yeah, I’d say the intensity level has gone up a few notches for sure. That’s a strike. 0 and one. Next pitch downstairs. One ball, one strat. Back door breaking ball just missed right there. And boy, umpire didn’t give him the call. I bet you if he throws it again, hitter knows he’s going to have to swing it. The Brewers down to their final strike. Kicks a swing. Now it would appeal to third. No swing. Just held it back there. Breaking ball misses down and away. That turns out to be a really good take right there. But you don’t want to end this game with a bat on your shoulder. swing and a miss and that’s the ball game. Well, this one was all about the pitching and defense. Outstanding job of the pitchers really attacking hitters, trusting what the catcher was putting down and trusting the players standing behind them to make the plays defensively. Sometimes you want to see a high-scoring game, but sometimes you can appreciate the artistic beauty of what these pitchers did on the mound today. And a one- nothing final score here in this one. For Chris Singleton and our entire crew here at MLB the show, thanks for stopping by. I’m John Shami. Talk to you soon.
