Reds vs. Nationals Game Highlights (7/21/25) | MLB Highlights

Jake, I will go for the Nationals. This guy has had his spots, his starts this year where he’s really been locked in and other times where he’s scuffled Fried trying to an old for 12 right hander, Irvin brings it home and the pitch to Friedel is swung on , grounded back up the middle off the glove of the pitcher. So DJ Friedel comes up with a base hit in his first at bat tonight. So the Reds will get Friedel up 90 ft on the wild pitch. Now two men are out. I holds the set and deals it in swing a high drive well hit right center field chasing back Jacob Young on the go to the warning track. He’s got it a step from the wall and the inning comes to a close after a half inning, Cincinnati nothing. The Nationals coming to bat. 28 year old right hander from Leesburg, Florida Brady singer on the mound for Cincinnati. He’ll face CJ Abrams in the home half of the first inning CJ A hit in 15 of 17 games over the last few weeks and he will reach with a leadoff walk here. Bottom one here’s James Wood, a line drive Hammer to left center field, that’s a base hit up the gap. They won’t cut it off. It goes all the way to the wall. Abrams is streaking around third being waved in de la Cruz will throw to the plate way too late and the nationals lead one to nothing. That was a patented James Woods screaming line drive double up the left center gap batters into the game for the Nets. They have a one nothing lead on the Reds on a runner on second base. The batter is josh Bell. The 11 swing a high fly ball deep right field chasing back Fraley warning track leaps at the wall, can’t get it. It’s off the wall. Wood was back to tag at second. He goes to third throw a second. Bell dives and he’s safe. He’s able to dive to the home plate side of the bag and a lou de La Cruz’s tag for a double. So walk double, double, still nobody out 2nd and 3rd for Nathaniel Lowe. Full count pitch coming up to Lowe Lowe and inside ball four. So the Nationals walk double, double, walk, one run in bases loaded for Brady House and singer home with a 12 swing and a miss struck him out with a slider away singer needed that the first out and we’ll bring in Daylan Lyle. Here comes the pitch so he had a hard ground ball past the diving first baseman, steer down the line toward the corner woods. Scores bell jogging in. They’re waving Lowe in Fraley’s throw is off line cut off by mcclean. He throws to third Lyle is sliding in there with a three run triple. He brings them all in. It’s the nationals four and the Reds. Nothing Lowe and House here in the bottom of the third. Don’t let off the gas. Now, keep going. The count full against singer. Oh, drives on the deep, right. This ball is crushed. Watch it fly into the second deck. Bell number 12 on the season. Staying red hot bell absolutely demolished. That breaking ball that right out over the plate, a double and a homer for JB tonight and it’s five to nothing. He’s pointed to the bullpen and here in the third inning with two on and one out, I think this is going to be all she wrote for Brady Singer. It sure is first game of a three game set and the Nationals are into the Cincinnati bullpen already here in the bottom of the third inning. And now here’s lion Richardson Riley Adams drives one out to center and will get down for a base hit and plate one more. Riley Adams advancing to second is nobody covering the back. Nats have made it six nothing and looking for more Jacob Young , the hitter and the Richardson pitch is slapped to right. A line drive base hit in comes Lyda score stop sign, put up on Riley Adam with the Nats upping the lead even further seven nothing at the top of the fourth inning. And now the left handed hitting Gavin looks with a couple of runners on. Here’s the 20, I drive past the diving second baseman Rosario that plate. The first run for the Reds. It’s an army. I for Gavin Lock who end up at second base nobody out in the inning. And there’s going to be a ground ball that’s going to be a tough play by the shorts Abrams. He’s going to field it through to first base but not in time to get spencer Steer that play Hayes and the Reds have two on the board. Lux is on second Steers on first. Nobody out in the inning. A couple of runs in the 2 to 2 and the left field base hit, they’re gonna wave looks around throw to the plate by wood is cut at it. 733 straight RB I base hits. They’re just chipping away. And now it will be Jake Fraley. Fraley had a double opposite field his first time up on the ground base hit right field. They’re going to wave around. Steer. Here comes the throw to the plate. It’s not in time. It’s four straight RB I single for the Reds. That was a great slide by Spencer Speier. If he slides straight into the plate, he’s out and that will bring up the nine batter jose Trevino. Now 1st and 3rd, nobody out to put four on the board and hoping to add to it the throw pitch number 67 and it’s right back up the box. This will play to run, double play is turned, but Marte scores from third and it’s a 7 to 5 game. It was seven nothing now, seven to five. And that’s going to be it for jake Urban today have tightened the game up a little bit. James Wood leads off the bottom of the fourth. All of a sudden this is a close game. Wood demolishes one out to right. That’ll get all the way to the wall and James Wood two doubles in three at bats. So far tonight was four for 40 in his last 11 games. He’s back. Folks back to back walks have loaded the bases for the Nats here in the fourth with nobody out for Brady House to left into the gap makes the play tagging to score is wood and a sack fly from Brady House has gotten the nationals back up by three. It’s 8 to 5. Now we go to the fifth inning here at Nationals park runners on the corners and two out here is Noel Marte. Well back and here’s a floater and right field that will fall de La Cruz scores and there’s that run back. He’ll get a base hit and an RB I will no Marte 86 going bottom 61 away in the inning. And now Mall will face Brady House and Malls 11 House swings. It’s a looping liner into left for a base hit second base hit of the game for Brady House. So he’s aboard with one out House takes off from first throw down by Trevino. Not in time. Brady holds the bag and he has his third major league stolen base. Brady Houses at second as Ashcraft stretches 37th appearance with a big right hander. The pitch to Rosario is lined sharply deep to right field. Braley sprinting back on the move. It’s over his head. Schoop in the fence House will score. Rosario races a second. He slides and he’s safe 96 nationals as Rosario jumps on craft’s first pitch and wallops an RB I double to the base of the wall in right field has a big insurance run that this bullpen could use a four pitch walk from Adams and now two on with two outs for Jacob Young ####s the bat over the shoulder as he waits on the pitch. Here it is swinging the ground ball to the right side that will sneak through for a base hit Rosario around third. He will score Adams chugs around to third base. It is 10 to 6 nationals on young second RBI single of the ball game. They lead 10 to 6 as we go to the night and although it is not a save situation Kyle Finnigan is in again 38 game here for Kyle 425 coming off really his best appearance in a while will face mcclean de La Cruz and Hayes here in the ninth, he delivers and there’s a broken back ball that’s going to go into left field. A base hit for Matt mclean. His first hit today. De La Cruz walks for the third time. Tonight. Reds are one man away for bringing the time run to the plate. Gavin locks up there. The middle base hit mclean on his way to third is Dez and the Reds within three, Novi Marte. The Reds last hope. Here in the night, here comes the 1 to 2 pitch to Noel Marte way outside in the dirt and it bounces up high off the screen. Here comes De La Cruz home to score and the Reds are within two. Finnegan ready for the 32 pitch to Marte. It’s on the way swinging a pop up right side. Nathaniel Lowe has a play in foul territory. He waits. Lowe makes the catch and the Nationals win the ball game. They survive the Reds comeback bid. The Nats win game one of the series 10 to 8.

  1. DO NOT TRADE JOSH BELL, period, and especially for some "prospect" that maybe someday will be JOSH BELL. He's a reason to buy tickets to the games, to see him (and others) play. Give fans something more that the puny vision of this franchise.
