San Antonio Spurs TRADE De’Aaron Fox To The Boston Celtics? | NBA Trade Rumors
So, could the San Antonio Spurs be trading away De’aran Fox to the Boston Celtics this 2025 NBA offseason? Well, here on the screen is a trade proposal or a trade idea from fadeawayorld.net. The link to this article is down below in case you want to go ahead and check it out for yourself, but this trade would see the San Antonio Spurs receiving Derek White, Sam Hower, and a 2031 first round draft pick, and the Boston Celtics receiving De’arren Fox. So both Dearron Fox and Derek White have been in trade rumors this off season. More recently, it’s been De’arren Fox with the emergence of, you know, Dylan Harper potentially being a superstar player in the making. There’s risk of them having a bit of a crowded backcourt and Dear Fox is sort of at this point viewed as potentially expendable. Now, Derek White was sort of under trade conversations earlier this off season uh prior to the Celtics kind of shedding their payroll a little bit, getting rid of Porzingis as well as Drew Holiday. So those talks have kind of quieted down, but in this trade for each other, I actually love what the Spurs would be getting back. So they of course know Derrick White from his time in San Antonio prior to Boston, but since then he’s developed into a perfect sort of player for this Celtics team. Defensively speaking, he is one of the best in basketball. He’s an NBA champion, not making a ton of money, relatively speaking, and just is a really solid player to have. So, I think that if you were to go to the Spurs team, who’s already pretty good defensively speaking, he’d fit in perfectly and also knows the team pretty well from his days there. Sam Hower adds some more minutes coming off the bench. So, if you want to make the Spurs a little bit deeper, uh, and, you know, add just more to the bench rotation, Sam Hower can be that guy. And a 2031 first round draft pick is so far down the road that we have no idea how good or how bad the Celtics will be at that point. So, why not take a chance? And at the very least, it’s another draft capital asset towards maybe a potential trade that could happen anytime between then. So, I love this move from the Spurs perspective. Now, from the Celtics perspective, it’s sort of intriguing to me because Taran Fox objectively really good player, but the Celtics are going through a bit of a transition year this off season. Uh, the roster does not look anywhere close to as good as it was last year. uh with Tatum being injured and Brown sort of taking the charge on this team, the Celtics likely take a step back, but once he comes back from his injury, having a big three of De’Aran Fox, Jason Tatum, and Jaylen Brown, that’s really, really good. But you sacrifice some depth here, give up some draft capital here, and truthfully, I don’t think this is the best course of action for the Celtics to take at this point in this off season. So, for those reasons, I think the winner of this deal to me is the San Antonio Spurs. But as always, leave your thoughts.
