Arizona Diamondbacks fan banned after interfering with multiple games

Yeah. So Jared and Nicole, his name is Dave McCascal. He’s a longtime Dback season ticket holder, a retired military man, but he’s not going to be catching any more home ball home run balls at least in 2025 because as of the last hour, the Arizona Diamondbacks releasing a statement that he is banned from attending games the rest of this season. The Dbacks did say in their statement that he has the option and the potential to return to Chase Field in 2026. But this is a guy who was caught 24 home runs at Chase Field and a few of them have definitely been right on the borderline of interfering with the player. That’s what happened last night. There’s another one from back in 2022 which was coincidentally also against the Giants. But back to last night’s after already catching a home run by Lordis Gorell Jr. in the sixth. The drama coming in the eighth when the Giants Christian CS hitting a ball to left and let’s just say Dave well he went full extension. Eventually, the refs ruled it was fan interference. So, instead of a potential home run, it was only ruled a double. Dave was ejected from the game, the third time that this has happened to him. Again, he is now banned from coming to Chase Field the rest of this season. And here’s what manager Tory Lavell had to say pregame about what happened last night. You know, last night the play happened and I want the play to play. I want the play to be played out. and I’m going to talk about what happens between between the white lines and on the field and I want want the plays to be made by the players. Um, you know, there’s a lot of people behind the scenes that are working on that situation right now. So, I don’t necessarily want to comment comment on it. I don’t know much about it to be honest with you. I want the play to happen for the player and then see where it takes us from there. So, here’s part of the statement that the Dbacks released shortly after Tory Labella’s pregame press conference, saying, “This particular fan has been involved in multiple offenses at Chase Field. Consequently, we have terminated his Advantage member account, and he is prohibited from returning to Chase Field for the remainder of 2025. This fan will have the opportunity to return to Chase Field in 2026 so long as he meets certain terms and abides by our fan code of conduct. Now, in that fan code of conduct, one of the things that’s within that conduct is game integrity, saying that fans should never interfere with the game action and that anybody who does will be ejected. It was going to be interesting to see if Dave showed up for this game after everything that happened last night, but now we know the answer. He will not be returning for this game or any others guys in 2025. I’ll send it back to you. Yeah, he is out of there, Elliot. It’s not the kind of publicity the Dbacks want with a season that’s already had its fair share of ups and downs. Yeah, Nicole, there haven’t been a ton of great headlines so far surrounding this Dback season. A lot of promise entering the season, but it’s a 42 and 42 record right now. I will say though that a lot of these interference situations that Dave was involved in, they did end up helping the Diamondbacks a lot of the time, like the one yesterday, it turned a home run for the Giants into a double. But obviously the Dbacks wanted to make sure that this didn’t turn into the norm out here. So, it’s a tough break for Dave, but he’s got to accept these consequences and maybe if he does things right, he’ll be able to return next year. Yeah, he does seem like a big fan, so maybe he’ll learn something and just go back to catching the real home runs that make it over the fence. Elliot, thanks.

A season ticket holder will not be welcomed back to Chase Field for this year’s D-Backs season after interfering in the game against the Giants on Monday. Elliott Polakoff reports.

  1. MLB needs to enforce ball clubs to extend the safety netting all around the playing field. sounds stupid, but fans will continue to do stupid things to get them banned.

  2. Seen fans catch foul balls where a player could have made a play I don’t see how this is any different. As long as he didn’t interfere with the player, I don’t see any foul here.

  3. I had the MLB Mix screen up on mute when this occurred, so I switched to audio for this game because I was confused about what was occurring. Then I saw the replays of a Grown Man with a ball glove, and when they escorted him from the building, he had a large, clear backpack that had all manner of stuff that a sane person would not bring to a ball game. Now to see that this guy has done this numerous times before makes no sense.
First off: anyone throwing an object (including a baseball) onto the playing surface should be banned for life. Gloves, nets, baskets, et cetera should also not be allowed into the stadium. Nobody's paying to get into a game to see clowns like this put on a show …

  4. I'm not suprised when guys reach over, just getting caught up, but this dude has caught 24 Homer's? He has to know the rules by now thats why I'm not suprised he got suspended

  5. So glad they banned this guy.
They should’ve banned him for Life from the outfield bleachers. And banned him for the rest of the season anywhere else. I think that’s much more reasonable. There were too easy on him. How many times does one person have to ruin the game for everybody else? I would say two times as too many.

  6. The Athletic reported: « Diamondbacks center fielder Alek Thomas recognized him in the moment of his latest interference, asking “Dave, why do you keep doing this?” » What a loser!

  7. Wow, that's very kind, banned only for 2025. I agree with many, should be a ban for a few years. Imo, not just a Chase Field, but all MLB stadiums.

  8. The player misses the ball. Maybe the fan should pick a different team? Baseball league forgot that the fan is the one who is paying to watch and get some action. If the player goes over the fence with the whole body and if he catches ball. I don't care if they call the batter out ,that is a homerun.

  9. There is rules that you have to follow. When the ball is in play, don’t touch it. Don’t fucking interfere with the play. Leave it alone.

  10. Soooo am I the only one with my eyes open the player wasn’t going to catch that ball cmon y’all…..is this really a thing?? Please tell me yall not serious all yall talking about ban him ban him okay I see apparently he got a history but yall just glazing if you think he was gone catch that

  11. I have no problems with anyone of any age taking a glove to a game. Some line drive home runs come at you at +90mph. I'd rather be equipped to save me and people close by, if I have a seat in the front rows of the outfield. That said, NEVER INTERFERE WITH THE GAME!!! If you lean over the rail to try to get a ball, you should be ejected (and ashamed of yourself.) Also, many people do turn up for BP with gloves, again of all ages, to catch balls. I have no problems with this either. Kids and adults are allowed to have fun at MLB ballparks.
