Nationals vs. Twins Game Highlights (7/26/25) | MLB Highlights
It is a Joe ryan night and Ryan has been among the game’s best pitchers, not just in the division, the league, but we are seeing a blossoming ace in our game and the numbers, Denard Span fantastic, very fantastic. Joe Ryan making his 20th start of the season 10 to 4, record, 2.63. Er, a but look at that 0.903. Just incredible. CJ. Abrams digs in and the pitch is swung on a miss and down goes Abrams that strikeout walk to James Wood and the Nets have a baserunner. Bring up Luis Garc-a Junior and Garcia Towers one to right center field deep in the alley. Bucks in back Buxton jumps up, makes the play up against the well, throw it back to first base and one hop to France, but not in time. Why Willie Castro went to his right. Buxton went to his left and Byron saw it and Denard, he timed that jump perfectly. Yes, he did. Yes, he did. Made it look smooth and easy. Josh Bell. Now the hitter switch hitting veteran strike three at the knees, a sinker from Ryan at 94. So joe strikes out two in a scoreless first inning for Mitchell Parker. 20 first start on the season. He’s 6 to 10, 108 and a third innings, 13 overs. That’s the big part. When you look at Mitchell Parker home runs is always been the issue swinging first pitch high , fly ball to left center Jacob Young drifting with it on the track for out number one, battling the sun. Carlos Correa taking a look at Parker now hit left side base, hit left field. So a couple of good swings early against parker. The hitter now is the switch hitting. Will Castro Parker’s the other way around gets a weak ground ball out to short Abrams will tap the bag and Then fire to first doing it himself. A 63 double play. What a great job by CJ Abrams and Garcia get out of the way. I got this no play. The reason why the twins won last night. Their starters Matthews was outstanding in his sixth start of the season. Six shutout, two hits, no walk struck out seven and he is kind enough to join us from the dugout. You d span here a start like last night, your second start off the il obviously going six innings pitch pitching phenomenally. What does that do for your confidence? I mean, it, it helps tremendously. Um You know, like I said, I hadn’t put together a complete start up here. Um You know, had, had some flashes of some, you know, some life here but, you know, I hadn’t put a start together like I had in the minor leagues. Um, so that, you know, I felt a lot like, you know, what I was capable of doing, um, what and what I know I can do. So, you know, hoping to, you know, really build on that and keep that going. We are in a visual medium here on TV. And Chris Pet, he played a big part into messing with David Festa quite a bit and it looks like the sheriff is, uh, is behind you as well. I don’t think he’s aware that we’re not on camera here. So he’s just, I think he’s just enjoying his time. That’s what the sheriff, that’s what Harrison badder is now the bat down and in gets Harrison badder on the slider and starting to throw that a little bit more incrementally. And that is just a perfect pitch. Got him fastball away and he rings up Walder on three heaters parker with back to back and he’s faced the minimum through his first two innings. Drew Mill the lead off. Ryan brings it in on two and a ground ball base hit past the third baseman Lewis who is off the line that was to his right and Drew Millis has the Nationals first hit a groundball single. Let’s go back to and the conversation. So paddock blows the bubble and Then right on top and fell every team needs a guy like Chris Paddick, Jacob Young with his seven bunt hits for third of the majors. He also has eight sacrifices squares. The bunt with one strike and drops it down foul. They’re really trying to get that one run, trying to play for. Just get the first one. Let everyone breathe. He’s shaking his right hand out there after that bunt attempt. Did that get him on the knuckles? Might have got him on the pointer finger. He sticks it out, see where his finger is and you just got to be able to tuck it under even more. He’s going to come out of this game. That is a tough kid that is going to have to leave here in the third inning. Alex call immediately to the bat rack. So alex call is a huge contention of family and friends here. This is not the way you’d want to see Cole get in the game, but he’s going to get a chance to play in front of family and friends. Millis takes off yet again. Throw down is wide and Drew Millis will get into scoring position with nobody out in a line drive. It is over the leaping shortstop Correa base hit left center field Millis trying to score. The throw from Bader is not in time in the are on the scoreboard one. They lead the twins, the 22 inning scoreless streak is over as Alex call comes off the bench with an 02 count and delivers a pinch hit RB I single on a 22 delivery. What a bad for alex call off the bench and Buxton is coming up with two on and one out. One out to right, but here’s, there’s two down great play by Dale and I love it comes up firing and this is where the twins need Carlos Correa two outs runners in scoring position. Hold right to Brady House over at third Mitchell Parker Strands two keeps the nets on top one. Nothing as we go to the middle innings. Garcia first time up flew out to center field. Garcia crushes one to deep right back is Castro looking up, it’s out of here. Third ball. This series that Lou crushed this one finally leaves the yard and it doubles the Nats lead here in the fourth two nothing. It is Louis time 13 off the bat 390 ft. And that was a rocket pitch to Josh Bell and not a breaking ball. Slow that sweeper down to 79 and strikes out Josh Bell for the second time. We bring him to Daniel Lowe who crowded out sharply to the shortstop two down back to back strikeouts for ryan. Now, four so far here tonight, here’s Royce. Lewis hit hard and fair to those numbers and Lewis will find second base as the ball finds the left field corner and Royce now with four doubles three homers since the all star break. Let’s see if that gets the twins going here in the fourth inning. Harrison Bader down on strikes, didn’t look comfortable that entire sequence and Parker gets him for the second out. Here’s matt Warner, we contact out to right Luis Garc-a Junior back and he makes the play. So Mitchell Parker three strikeouts and has worked out of a few jams to keep his team up to nothing. Lyle standing in against Joe Ryan is going to send a laser beam out to center. Mill is two for two in the bottom of the nationals. Order doing the job tonight. Two on with nobody else. Alex call up with two on and nobody down. All pops one up shallow. Right, second baseman will take charge and he drops it. Brooks Lee couldn’t make a play. Miller had to hold and the takes the glove off of Carlos Correa, everybody safe and the bases are loaded. It was Brooksley T France. Both of them got out there and Then they both looked at each other and the twins for a moment had a play on Millis at second base. I throw as Korea jumped up, lost his glove. The ball wasn’t close to second. Here’s CJ Abrams first pitch and drives one down the right field line. That’s a fair ball into the corner in Millon. Here comes alex called to the plate. A bases clearing double for CJ Abrams and it’s five nothing nats this game went sideways in the blink of an eye. Get to the top of the order and Abrams crushed the ball into the right field corner on the first pitch. Here’s where you need the groundball double play. As Lyle’s going bat, there’s a ground ball weekly hit to Correa. He’ll look at second. Nobody there now throws to first and there’s a foot race to third base and he’s to be out. Topa was covering third base, three defenders at second base. The base runner Lowe took off for third base and Topa heads up play and gets the out batter Willie Castro, the pitcher Mitchell Parker Castro lines a base hit to left. So Willie on his way to second base and again the twins put the leadoff man on Lewis is in the box lines, a base hit to left center Castro rounding third and he will score and Royce Lewis now two for three drives in his 20th run and look at the emotion there. 51. Yes sir. Stay hot. Mr Royce Lewis and back to back out huge for Mitchell Parker in the sixth. France had a 10 pitch at bat in a single in the third and Then a single on the fourth pitch in the fifth inning. So tie is two for two. They’re giving Parker a chance to finish off six innings line to left center field in the gap and that’s a base hit that’s going to roll and that’s going to find the wall Lewis around third base. He will head home TRB I double and the Washington lead is trimmed to three ty coming up with the big hit can’t get through six, but he goes five and two thirds. Brooks would be looking to see if he can get France and get a big hit. What’s the bat line drive? Luis Garc-a junior one, Luis Garc-a helping out another and he Robs Brooks Lee to keep it. 52. Well, statcast has this 96 on the Vert. That’s right. 96 inches. That would be a record love. Byron Buxton no longer in this game. Buxton is not in center field as the twins move defenders around. Here’s alex call Paul skies one to right fairly deep larn back to the warning track. He looks up and this one is gone. It just clears into the overhang above the 23 ft wall and Alex call from nearby Wisconsin delivers an opposite field home run his third of the year and the Nationals lead it 6 to 2. The alex call cheering section that came in from River Falls is going crazy on the third base side. What a day, Alex call off the bench for a pinch hit single and Then a home run opposite field. He’s got word that Byron Buxton left the game with soreness in his left side leadoff man on yet again for the Washington Nationals. Josh Bell will be the batter to ground one right side and through Garcia will Cruz home and josh Bell are on number 39 on the year has given the nats their five run lead back. So productive out with a fly ball for steeping off into the right field corner to advance Bell. The third gets away from Vasquez again. Bell to the plate throw not in time. Josh Bell an RB I single advanced on a wild pitch tagged up on a fly ball to right and Then scamper home on another wild pitch from thunder Burke. You got to anticipate glove goes down that keeps going away and just sneaks underneath. But he and Christian Vasquez, I think at the initially just like no way he’s going to come great job by josh and their runners on 1st and 2nd with one out for Millis. A short Correa can’t make the play and everybody’s safe. This has not been a clean inning of baseball. Yeah, the boys are looking a little flat, I must say call it how I see. It seems like they’re just a step slow this inning. Last couple innings batters alex Cole up the middle diving stop made by Brooks Lee will lunge to second and got the out. What a play. What a play brooks outstanding effort from brooks Lee Nathaniel Lowe scores. It’s 92 and hopefully brooks is ok, checking that right shoulder there for a second, wonderfully done by the former first round pick and what makes this place so tough because he’s, he’s playing in and he has to dive and Then get up knowing that the runners coming in there. And so you got to love the hustle from Brooksley, especially in a game like this when I was just saying the defense look flat. This is how you play. Here’s Walner. He struggled with runners in scoring position this year. He has Bader at second under this one. Twilight time is center and alex Cole will make the catch, will he will tag score throw cut off by Abrams and a sack fly for Walder. And it’s 9 to 3. The twins down to their final out of the game got him swinging and the NATS wrap up a 9 to 3 win in game two of this series. They’ve evened the three game set at a game apiece and a rubber game here at Target field coming tomorrow.
