Rays “Softening” Stance On Dealing Yandy Diaz, Brandon Lowe

  1. LOL, you think the lineup has been bad without Lowe. Think if Yandy wasn’t in it too. We’d be worse than the Rockies.

  2. Neander said this was the week where he made his decisions and the Rays lost the series to the White Sox and Reds set. There will be a difference between who he is willing to trade and teams that will accept those players. Based on last season, high payroll for prospects while telling the fans “it was a tough decision but they are still contenders” as they try to end the season at .500 again.

  3. With the way April went, I thought there was a chance the team would be gutted by the end of the year. July just solidified it

  4. Duh. He gave the team an ultimatum, and unsurprisingly, the team didn’t trend away from it. They weren’t going to magically stop giving runs.

Now you have to hope Neander has a better deadline than last year.

  5. I really don’t understand their logic. They trade away good players for prospects. Many of whom don’t ever reach their potential. Then next year you start off the year worse and hope there’s no injuries. Just keep some players to sell some damn tickets. Yandy is one who probably wouldn’t cost a ton to keep around. Just because there is a trade deadline doesn’t mean you have to do anything. They think they are the smartest kids in the room and that is just not the case anymore. Their trades last year sucked especially to the Cubs and Padres. Save us new ownership.

  6. I mean that’s kinda what happens when the gm says “we need to pick a direction” and the team responds with the worst month in the mlb

  7. >While the Rays are currently signalling an openness to moving both players, Rosenthal adds they could reverse that decision if the club’s play in the coming days warrants it and that a final decision may not be made until Wednesday, the day before this year’s trade deadline.

“….they could reverse that decision if the club’s play in the coming days warrants it….”

This is ridiculous. So they win a few games and that changes their minds? Hard to believe this but who knows. Or maybe they’re so confident the Rays will close out July with a wimper they already decided.

  8. With the way these last series have gone while looking at a road heavy latter half, I suspect we will be moving some players.

Maybe set the organization up for a solid squad come new stadium time.

  9. Article reads as standard rays deadline rumors that we see every year. The way the FO operates means that we are always ‘open’ to trading guys, and yet rarely trade away the larger pieces. Even when we sold last year, we were reportedly in talks regarding yandy and blowe and nothing happened. Whether we should or not, or whether we will or not is a different story entirely, but a trade deadline article regarding the rays should be taken with a huge grain of salt

  10. Yandy Diaz is the player that will get you the most return. They can call up Bob Seymour if they do it.

  11. Blow the whole thing up. Keep Aranda, Simpson, Cami, J. Lowe, Magnum, Pep, and Ras. Everyone else can be dealt and hopefully this time for pieces that are worth a fuck. I cannot believe the return on last year’s deadline sell.

Gave up all stars for literal peanuts. The rebuild is here. We’re playing in a spring training stadium, the trop even when it’s fixed is still a dump no free agents will want to play in, and there’s no word or timeline on a new stadium for the new owners albeit it’s early in the process.

It’s just hard not to be a doomer right now with no real bright spot in the near future outside of watching Cami, Simpson and Aranda continue to be rising stars.
