Oh, and he can jump. Lost in the narratives about his weight and conditioning is the fact that, as a 19-year-old at the 2018 NBA Scouting Combine, Luka delivered a 42-inch vertical leap. After a full offseason with Team Luka, he’s not sure that number is still the same. “This year, we didn’t measure the jumping yet,” he says. “But I think it’s a little bit higher.”

Video disproving the claim: https://streamable.com/m3esi9

Luka Dončić did not participate in the combine and his vertical leap was never officially measured. The author of the story most likely tried to use Google to find out Luka Dončić’s vertical leap and used the AI-provided answer at the top (without doing any further research) which references a Sports Illustrated article that states Donte DiVincenzo’s vertical leap. But the Google AI-search feature incorrectly assigns it to Luka Dončić.

  1. Haters will say it’s fake, Luka been in the gym practicing his 3 point line dunk

  2. 42 is legit crazy for someone like him too. Ja’s best vertical measure was a 44. I guess shouldn’t expect a Men’s health journalist to know that 42 for Doncic doesn’t pass the eye test.

  3. 42 is kinda much. But Luka definitely looking the best I’ve seen in awhile

  4. I’m gonna copy paste my ultra witty comment from the deleted thread:

lmfao he wouldn’t have a 42 inch vertical if you put him on a fucking trampoline

and also add that what the fuck kind of sports journalist doesn’t know what a 42 inch vertical even vaguely looks like. That is a conspicuously huge vertical.

That article was written by two people btw, both C.S.C.S (Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist). And they make an error like this?

  5. People that full send AI are ridiculous to me lol. I feel like every time I use AI, it gives me blatantly wrong information and I have to verify it all. People treat it as fact when it’s just…not.

  6. Yeah I mean 42 inches is nuts for Luka lmao.

Having said that, if you go back to rookie Luka highlights, dude clearly had some hang time. Now he’s saying he has more?

Should be interesting to see how many times he dunks this season.

  7. Co pilot told me he actually has a jet pack and forearm mounted missiles. He did all that with just BBQ from a cave in Fort Worth.

  8. Yeah definitely not 42 lol.

He could get up a little bit tho before he started gaining weight. There’s some dunks he had his rookie year that were nasty

  9. The article reads like amateur fan fiction. It’s the funniest thing I’ve read all day. They mention a team he assembled “years ago” like what?!?

  10. Pretty stupid that getting traded from a team he expected to spend his whole life is what finally made Luka lock in. Buddy was on the James Harden career path.

I still doubt this Lakers team the way its constructed is ever going to win anything. Especially if they pay Reeves 2nd option money. With how restrictive the new cap rules are, paying Reeves his max and Luka his max basically bottle necks your roster immediately.

  11. We are fucked if journalists are stupid enough to think asking chatgpt is somehow a verifiably true answer

You’re supposed to verify your sources vehemently before you even use a single shred of any information you might have collected lol

This doesn’t surprise me, it’s just disappointing

  12. but what about all that protein he’s consuming?! That’s sure to add 3-5 inches to his vertical!

  13. It’s scary how many people rely on Google’s little AI blurb as a source when it’s so wrong quite often.

  14. Oh my god wow.

This sub would think Larry Bird walked on water if internet existed in the 80s with how they worship Luka

  15. Welp the people who wrote and edited the article are fired or in hot water. Such negligence.

  16. Men’s Health is one of those magazines that a 20-something grabs because he wants to get serious about getting fit.

Men’s Health is also one of those magazines that a person who knows about exercise and diet science lights on fire because he’s serious about getting fit.

  17. This article was a bad idea by Luka… why did he need all the attention drawn to it by journalists looking for clickbait.

  18. I have a bad feeling about Luka this season. Seems the hype is everywhere, everyday.

  19. If you believe Luka’s vertical is only two inches off of peak LeBron, that’s on you

  20. Y’all gonna look silly when Luka bangs his chin off the rim going for a putback in the season opener.

  21. Okay but why does AI and google AI present misinformation like above so easily and frequently?

My mom fell for a Facebook post saying Rick Pitino is University of Kentucky’s head coach again (obviously not) so I took her phone and googled it to show her, and the immediate AI answer was, yes Rick Pitino is the new UK coach and linked to the same FB post scam article.

In general, it’s becoming harder to find information and wrong information is populating searches in a way I personally haven’t seen before.

It feels like there’s some weird push to spread misinformation of all kind recently and I don’t get it.

  22. Classic false journalism to sell more magazines!!!….errrr, supplements??clicks??

What exactly is it that Men’s Health sells these days?

  23. 42 inches if you don’t account for his arm length above his head maybe, all verticals are lies but this is just fantasy territory lol
