MLB LIVE🔴 Seattle Mariners vs Oakland Athletics – Jul 28, 2025 | Full Game MLB 2025 EN VIVO

Hello and welcome. Thanks for joining us. An AL West matchup on the show. It’s the Seattle Mariners going up against the Athletics. First pitch coming your way next. Welcome your Athletics. just about set to go. And today’s starting pitcher, Luis Severino. And Singi, we were talking earlier about how he’s doing a great job navigating through tough spots. Well, you know, this guy wants to be better than that. I mean, the ERA is bloated. He understands that he’s got to put his team in a better position to win ball games. And at this point, you have to forget about your own individual stats and you have to go out there and attack and try to get that W. And if you do that, you’ll look up and most likely that erra will have dropped over time. Swinging a highf fly ball out towards right field. Cortez makes the play and there’s one down. And now we check out the Mariners lineup. batting second, a really important guy for them, Julio Rodriguez. And Boo, he’s a fun at bat to watch. I mean, definitely a threat whenever he’s got that bat in his hands, but for me, it’s it’s all about the mechanics. They’re so sound and when he gets his foot down on time and starts his swing, so much consistency. That bat stays in the zone for a long time and he squares up the baseball a lot. Julio Rodriguez in the box with one away as he takes ball one. a bit behind with that swing. It’s strike one. I wouldn’t throw him another breaking ball. Try to go again with a fast ball. Slightly elevated. He just having a hard time catching up. One down. Base is empty. Cuts and misses. It’s a strike out. He’s really good hitting the baseball the other way. So, credit the pitcher for having him out in front of that pitch. Clearly, he had him fooled. Cal Raleigh up next for the Mariners. First pitch misses. 10. Two out. Base is empty. Foul ball there. Outside low. Two and one. Got him looking. And good work there as he gets a one, two, three. Mariners nothing. A’s coming back. You’re watching Major League Baseball on the show. Back here with my pal Singi. And on the hill in this one, Carlos Vargas. And a guy like this is going to keep you in the ball game. He’s going to go out there, compete. Not going to see a whole lot of flare and flash, but he’s going to hand it over to the bullpen at some point. And if you’ve been able to score a few runs, you’ll be in it late. So, we’ll see if he’s able to do that for his club in this one. Bottom of the first. Now, it’s the short stop. Max Schum swing a high-fly ball right field. Makes the catch for the out. And there’s one away. And time now to check out the A’s lineup. We could be in for a power showcase today. With the wind blowing out, a lot of lift and separate. Chris, we know hitters are in this era definitely trying to hit the ball in the air regardless of the conditions. But I think even a little more so, there’s margin for error if you can get the ball up in the air. So, you know, you’ll see at times, I’m sure, with two strikes, what looks like a half swing that can get out of the ballpark with a hitter who’s got decent pop. Nick Curts in now takes ball one off the plate. Swinging a ground ball towards first, but foul. One out. Base is empty. Next pitch is outside. That one lifted to left. A Rosena sizes this one up, pulls it down, and there’s two gone. Batting third, designated hitter, Brent. Two down, base is empty. Now, the A’s designated hitter, Brent Rooker, a former first round pick, and he’s really turned into a nice everyday player. Popped foul out of play off to the right. Two down to the slider just misses. He had a foul ball. That misses the countdown now two and two. Well, as a pitcher, when you make a big pitch down around the knees and don’t get the call, it’ll lead at you out there. So, some handle it a little bit better than others. And right here, clearly letting the ump hear it a little bit. Two outs. That one not close. And that’s ball three. Now fly ball to right center. More settles underneath it. That is the inning. Scoreless after one. Top of the second. So now it’s the Mariner clean up here. Randy or Rosena. Severino back to work upstairs and it’s one and0 and that one is lifted in the air. Cortez makes the grab. One away. Batting fifth catcher, Mitch. Mitch Garver up to hit here. Right through there for a strike. Looks like a really good fast ball today. You can hear that catcher mitt popping. Looking forward to hearing a lot of that one in this one. One down, base is empty. And there’s a foul ball and a pitch. Swings and misses. That K is his third of the game. Off to a strong start, Singing as he’s punched out three of the first five he’s faced. Well, he’s definitely minimizing contact. He can get the swing and miss when he needs it, but he’ll also keep the defense fresh behind him, allowing some balls in play as well. No score here in the second. Swing and a fly ball well struck left field. Way to go. Sodstrom makes the catch and go over. We’ll go to the bottom of the second. No score. We head to the bottom of the second. Now the left fielder Tyler Sodro. Tyler Soderstrom. Let’s go, Tyler. Hard ground ball base now. So, a man on base to start the inning. Everything came together perfectly for him right there. He wasn’t able to elevate it, but he put a great swing on it. Right on time. good balanced approach and just blasted it through the infield. Here’s the power hitting catcher, Shay Langalers. Pitch misses. One and0 ball. No. Time to look at our umpiring crew in this one. Kenny Jansen behind the plate. Yeah. And expect a little inconsistency on the corners. He doesn’t make any wild calls, but he does give and take there a little bit. So, he doesn’t have the easiest strike zone to figure out, especially as the game goes on when you’re expecting it to become more consistent. Rodriguez calls it in and there’s one away. Singy, what kind of strike zone is most frustrating for hitters? I’d say off the plate, away, and down, and why those are the toughest locations to hit the baseball. So, digging in, Lawrence Butler. As the game has moved along, we see more and more information supplied by teams about the umpires. I’ve been in clubouses where they have pictures of all four umpires, nicknames, hometowns, and as well hobbies listed just so you can kind of small talk the umpire a little bit. That’s great. Into center, tracks it down for the out. Out number two. Nothing instills more confidence in a team than a center fielder who makes a great play like that on the run. They can feed off the energy he brings just from his playmaking abilities. So up next, Carlos Cortez. That’s a laser base hit. And now first and second with two outs. batting eight third baseman. Gioella to the plate. That’s in there. 01 and then misses off the outside edge. Well, I I think he’s trying to get a feel for where that one missed. I mean, it could have gone either way, but he looked a little shocked for a second there. That misses the zone. Now two and two. Stays alive. First and second, two down. Bottom half of inning number two. Line drive. He’s got it. And that’ll end the inning. A strand. A couple will move to the third with no score. And welcome back to the ballpark. Top half of the third inning. Here’s the veteran first baseman, Donovan Solano. And that’s way high. Ball one. swing and a miss as he was late. Cold night like tonight, last thing you want to do as a hitter is get jammed or even off the end. Trying to find that sweet spot on the bat. Tell you what, you’re going to be trying to catch things out front. So, off speed pitches may be a good complement to that fast ball. Chases that one out of the zone. make it four strikeouts for him on the bump today. Really love the pitch sequence right there. I’m telling you what, pitcher and catcher on the same page right now. Dylan Moore. Here’s Dylan Moore. And the first pitch misses for ball one. Yeah. Top of the third, no score. That’s excellent location on the fast ball right there early in this game. If he can do that all game, should be a good outing for him. striker three and that’s two in a row. Ben Williamson up next for the Mariners. That one at the knees for a strike. outside and it’s one and one. That one missed. Good spot there, but didn’t get the strike at the knees and doesn’t seem too convinced by the call out there on the mound as he tries to get a better sense of the umpire strike zone. Severino missed with a change up. Now three and one. First pitch strike from the pitcher, but then no panic at all by the hitter. Very patient, showing good discipline. Now he’s in the driver’s seat with a 3-1 count. The other way, fair ball. Now he turns and heads for second. The throw in. He’s there. It’s a two out double. He really shot that one down the right field line and somehow found a way to keep it from slicing. Foul. One thing that was great about the approach, his head was down all the way through the pitch. And that’s how you do it. Runner in scoring position now and a good opportunity to push across the first run of the ball game. JP Crawford gets a chance to hit now. Will bullet to second base, but he’s got it to end the unit. One left for Seattle and we are still scoreless. As we go to the last of the third, here’s Luis. Luis Orias. And that’s off the inside edge. And that’s ball one. That two seam fast ball is usually coupled with a slider away. And when a hitter’s conscious of the pitch in, it’s hard for him to cover middle away. And that’s where a pitcher can really finish off that batter. Inside and it’s 2 and 0. That’s inside. Boo. He never moved cuz he never had time to. But that kind of velocity, you’d prefer that pitcher work away. And there’s the automatic. swing and a popup. Crawford puts it away for the out. One up, one down. Now batting. Shorts stop. Max Schuman. Back to the top of the lineup. Max Schuman up next for the A’s. He’s 0 for one. Let’s go, baby. Let’s go. And that misses. And that is ball one right through there for a strike. And that’s in the dirt. back up the Oh, that got him. No chance for a play. And let’s hope the righty’s not hurt on the mound. The comebacker got him down low and you can really see him favoring the leg. That’s his plant leg, which might be a concern, Chris. Yeah, you hope he’s got some feeling in that leg so he can land on it like you said, but from the way he’s acting out there, I think it looks like he’s going to be okay and try to continue. Boo man at first with one gone. Nick Curts up next for the A’s. And he gets that fast ball by him upstairs. No balls, one strike. The one is outside and it’s a ball and a strike. Runner takes off. Swinging at a highf fly ball. Well struck way back there. Get out of town. Home run number 20 on the year and that gives them a lead. It’s two nothing. Boo. His plan was to hit the ball hard and he was going to figure out the rest later. You can’t argue with those results. We take another look as Stackcast tells us that ball took off at 110 mph and plenty of distance as well. I mean, that was an impressive home run. Boog. He squared it up and knew it was gone. Base is empty, one away. Brent Rooker up next for the A’s. Oh, he doesn’t get the call. And that’s ball one. Part of the order coming through now. And with one home run already in this inning, they’re definitely looking to do some more damage. And a swing and a miss. There’s that slider. One ball. Still only one out here in the inning. Misses just off the outside edge. I think that was a strike. Drilled out towards left center field. That’s well struck. This one looks like trouble. Makes the turn and heads for second. And that’s a twobanger. That’s now three hits in a row for the offense. Got a good pitch to drive, stayed short with his bat path to the ball and caught it out front and he stayed long in his follow through. That’s how you split the gap. And that’s pretty much a double every time. One out, runner at second. Next up for the A’s, Tyler Soderstroke. Off the mark there. And it’s one and0. slapped foul. Some real good life going through the zone on that one. The one- one is fouled off. One out and a runner at second. Base hit. That was smoke through the infield. Stop sign goes up to third. Runners at the corners with one out. That’s back to back singles for him. Pretty tough for the infield to do anything with that one. He pulled it hard into the outfield. And even when you keep it on the ground, it feels great when you hit a missile like that. And now here’s the A’s catcher Sha Langalers fly to center his first time. He’s 0 for one. Lifted in the air right field. Moore drops into the glove. Runner tags from third. Ro. He beats it and they’re up by three. Sometimes all you got to do is your job and don’t over complicate things. Keep it simple. Runner third, less than two outs. put the ball in play and nice job with the sack fly. Lawrence Butler up next to the A’s. Fly to center his first time. Sliced hard but fouled. Soderstrom the runner at first with two gone. Meanwhile, activity in the bullpen. Number 23 preparing to come on if needed. fights that one away and the count remains 0 and2 and it’s fouled off. They’ll do it again. field two and that one is inside. See if you can go upstairs a little bit. Make sure you miss up and out of the zone since you’re heading the count one two. Don’t miss in the zone cuz that’s where you get hurt. Next pitch inside. Two and two. Really good take especially with two strikes. That one misses and the count’s full. Great RBI spot here. Just got to stay focused on the pitch. The runner will be in motion. So something in the gap should definitely score it. Swing and a ball driven out to center way back there and it’s caught just in front of the wall. Three runs for him here and they move ahead on to inning number four. It’s the A’s three and the Mariners nothing. And we’re back. Start in the fourth. And now the center fielder, Julio Rodriguez. And there’s a ball. Was a good pitch there. Really had some run and finished. Little up and just on the edge. And that’s one of those if you swing at it, you had a broken bat as you jog back to the dugout. Severino kicks, steals, comes up empty. at strike two. Man, that was pretty gross right there. Knocks that one away and we’ll do it again. Comes up empty as he chases that one in the dirt. Langelers down to first with it in time to get him. One away in the strikeout. And now for Seattle. Cal looking his first time up. Well, he’s been having a great year this year and hitting home runs at a good clip and the matchup is very favorable. And that misses ball one. Just missed. The A’s leading by three. Top half of inning number four. That one’s spoiled and the count now two and one. That clips the corner. That one ran inside. Almost got him. bouncer to second. The throw to first and they got him. Randy Rosarena up next for the Mariners. Fly to right his first time. breaking ball misses down and away. A Rosarena goes 5′ 11 in 185 lbs. And they went out and made a trade for him last season. Just missed. Two balls, one strike. gets the call and now two and two. That’s a little bit low. Full count. Foul. We’ll see another payoff pitch. Well, he missed a hitable off speed pitch right there. Not sure exactly with the timing. Sometimes you get a backup breaking ball. You’re expecting it to make its move at the end. It never does and you’re tied up. Well, that’s a nice job of grinding out that at bat. Saw a lot of pitches and ends up drawing the walk. Very gritty. Now the Mariners catcher Mitch Garver. Three pitch strikeout last time up. Got to put up more of a fight in this one. That one in there across the letters. There it was. A high velocity fast ball in the zone. I think a little frustration from walking the previous hitter. He’s got good stuff. Pitch inside the zone and trust it. And that one fouled off. got him swinging. Mariners leave one. They trail in this one three nothing. Welcome back. and they turn to a new arm as we kick off the bottom of the fourth. Number 23. Still pretty early in the ball game. So, this bullpen has some work ahead of him. Best case scenario might be if he can come in here and get several quick outs kind of bridge the gap the starter left. And now the right fielder Carlos Cortez slider right there. No balls, one strike. Next offering is fouled back. Outside corner got him looking. Wow, that’s a tough call for the hitter, but the pitcher will take that all day long. Oh, not fighting the strike zone, but he found a spot that the umpire is going to at least for now allow him to get that call. So, hitters are going to have to make an adjustment, but pitchers are going to learn from those things and really try to exploit him if they can. Ur now at the plate as he swings through strike one. One down. Base is empty. In the air, left field, a Rosarena. Two away now. Up next for the A’s, second up next for the A’s. 0 for one with a fly out. That one catches the zone. Strike one. Two down, nobody on. We’re here in the bottom of the fourth. Swing and a ground ball up the middle. That’s a base hit. Nice. Up next for the A’s short. So the batting order turns over Max Schum. Up next for the A’s, one for two. And that one is inside ball one. Two outs. That’s to third. They get the force. That ends the frame. The A’s strand one, but they’re on top by a count of three to nothing. And welcome back to the ballpark. And now it’s the switch inning second base Jorge Palano. Severino back to work outside. 10. That one finds the zone and the count even at one. On the ground right side, tosses to the pitcher covering the bag and the lead offense set down in their half of the fifth. Well, he’s doing a nice job of keeping the ball out of the air. Lets the defense work behind him with another ground ball. Good execution. Here’s Donovan Solano. Struck out swinging his first time. Delivers a pitch in for a strike at 95. He’s pitching well, but not throwing a ton of first pitch strikes. Usually doesn’t work out for success, but you can never predict baseball. The M’s trailing by three and we’re in the top of the fifth. Ground ball left side and it’s off the bag. Now batting right fielder Dylan Moore. Dylan Moore up next for the Mariners. Went down on strikes his first time through. Just missed. One ball, no strikes. swings and blasts one deep to left center and it’s off the wall. Lead runner holds to third. So, two runners in scoring position and just one out. Oh, a swing like that can help you come out of the struggle. We saw the numbers coming into the ball game, but all he’s trying to do at this point is help his team win. Ben Williamson up next for the Mariners. Doubled his first time up and that’s outside. One and0. There’s his drive. Probably the best one we have seen. Throwing it where he wanted to have a nice tight spin to it and a teaser just off the edge of the plate. Struck him out. swinging and that’s strike out number 100 on the year. That kind of velocity an elevated fast even if it’s still in the strike zone can be tough for hitters to get on top of JP Crawford up next for the Mariners. And that one fouled off. Two on, two outs. Let’s go to baby. Let’s go. On the ground to the left and that’s just foul. Foul ball. It stays nothing and two. Ball one there. Second and third. Two down. That one the other way. And foul ball. And he couldn’t hold back. He’s run up on strikes. Couple of strikeouts with runners on. Sometimes you got to really bear down and he did just that. Nice job of getting out of the jam and out of the inning. Nick Curts for the A’s. First baseman Nick. Stay hot there. Come on. Smoked on the ground to second and that’s the first out in the bottom of the fifth. Now batting designated hitter Brent Rooker. Now the A’s designated hitter, Brent Rooker. Just missed. Base is empty, one away. Last half of inning number five. That one ripped and that is a foul ball. That’s down and in. 2-1. Fouls one off. Two and two. Hit on the ground to the right side and it goes just fouled. Close but called a ball and now it’s filled up. Three and two. That one hit to right. more makes the grab and there’s two gone. Up next for the A’s left, two out, space is empty. Tyler Sodro now at the plate. He’s two for two and a swing to miss. This guy’s got such a good sinker. As a hitter, you’ve got to look up in the zone. If you look down, you’re going to be chasing stuff in the dirt. And that’s in for a strike. Well, he had a pretty good look at that pitch and not sure exactly what tied him up there. Couldn’t pull the trigger. And perhaps the best pitch he’ll see in this at bat to hit. Next offering way off the plate out towards left center. Rodriguez on his way over and that’s the inning. Nothing across here this half. Five innings complete. It’s the A’s three and the Mariners nothing. Top six. Here’s the center fielder, Julio Rodriguez. And that’s in for a strike. It’s 0 and one. Man, this guy’s got a great feel for his breaking ball today. In there at the knees for a strike. And that skips into there. BS another and that’s three straight strikeouts. And Chris, that’s a way to neutralize his feet by keeping him off base. And the defense breeds a sigh relief because he puts pressure on everyone if he can put the ball in play. But that’s how you do it. Keep him off balance. Get him out of there and deal with the next guy. Cal Raleigh getting ready to hit. Foul ball late with the swing there. Love to see it. Power versus power right there. That’s too low. Going to count one and two. And that just misses. Bows that off to the left and we’ll do it again. That wasn’t an easy pitch to hit. It’s much easier to do damage against mistakes, but that’s not what that pitch was. That misses. Ball three. He’s great hitting the ball the other way. And that pitch did a good job to straighten him up a bit. Mission accomplished. That’s ball four. Tried another sinker, but couldn’t find a zone. Pitch counts getting up there now. And not saying that’s the reason for this walk, but this is the point in the game when every sign of wavering starts to get everyone’s attention. Rosarena up to hit for the third time as he lays off inside ball one. Grounder might be two. Touches the bag for one. Double play. Then he can’t seem to break through. Inning over. Make it six shut out innings for him out there. Now it’s the A’s three and the Mariners nothing. Well, we go bottom six and the batter now Shay Langelers. Shay Langelers in the air right field. Moore sizing this one up. He’s got it. And there’s one down. Now batting center fielder Lawrence. Next up for the A’s, Lawrence Butler. Go for two in this one. Outside low and that is ball one. fought off foul and that’s ruled a swing. It’s a strike out. committed to that breaking ball just a little too much and couldn’t pull the bat back in time. You know, once you get it going, it can be so tough to stop the momentum of that barrel. Good pitch. Had him fooled. Cortez stands in now and watches strike one. No balls, one strike. That clips the inside corner for a strike. And that’s outside. One ball. Two down, nobody on here in the bottom of the six. Liner to second and picked on the hop. throw to first and that’s a nice play to end the inning. Nothing doing there for the A’s, but they lead it three nothing. And we’re back. We go to the top of the seventh and stepping in for the Mariners, Mitch Garver. That one a 95 missed up top. Ball one. Doublebarreled action in the bullpen. Number 49. The hard throwing righty is up and loosening. Bowden also throwing. Two balls, no strikes to count. Struggled a little bit in this one. Couple of strikeouts earlier, but doing a much better job in this at bat to get ahead and find a good hitter count at 2 and 0. in the air to left down the line. Sodestrom makes the catch and there’s one gone. Good pitch. He just kind of had him out in front on that pitch away and wasn’t able to stay closed. Jorge. And up next for Seattle, Jorge Palanco. And the first pitch misses for ball one. This one in the air center field. Butler in position. Two down. Now batting the first baseman, Donovan Solano. Donovan Solano the next to hit. Come on. Check swing and he went. That’s strike one. And that’s just fouled. The Athletics leading by three here in the top half of inning number seven. That missed by a lot. And it’s one and two. Gets a piece there. We’ll do it again. up and in. And the count now even up. Oh, this is a guy that can be frustrating for pitchers because he fouls off so many pitches and grinds out the atbat. I’m sure there’s sometimes where pitcher would rather just give up a first pitch single. Well, looks at the fast ball for strike three there to end the inning. Still in total command on the mound with seven shut out innings. It’s the Ace three and the Mariners nothing. And welcome back to the ballpark. Stepping in Gio. Third base, Gio Urella. swinging a ground ball and foul ball. Next offering is downstairs and this is inside. Next offering in there for a strike. That is strike two. swings through that one. It’s a strikeout. And here is now that base Luis Muras. Not close with that one. And that’s ball one. Base is empty, one away here in the bottom of the seventh. Missed inside with the curb. Curve ball kind of backed up on him there. I think it just slid out of the hand a little bit too soon. And another ball. Well, I would expect in this three 0 count, you’re taking all the way. See if he’ll walk you. And that drops in for a strike. Swinging a foul out of play outside and that is ball four. throw a breaking ball in that 3-2 count kind of tells you that that’s the pitch he has the most confidence in right now. Just couldn’t find the strike zone. Now, here’s the leadoff hitter for the A’s, Max Schuman. One for three, baby. Right through there for a strike. Got to go. Bring him home. Slice down the right side. Urias leads off first with one away. Baby, let’s go. On the inside corner for called strike three. Now batting. Next up for the A’s, Nick Kirch. His two-run homer back in the third was an important swing of the bat in this one. Yeah, there’s no doubt he helped set the tone fairly early and certainly part of the reason why they’ve got the lead right now. And there’s the strike back door him with the breaking ball. Just got the corner. There’s nothing you can really do with that. That’s outside and the count is one and one. Oh, he’s really working him away this at bat. Sometimes take a little bit off velocity. Try to get a roll over something on the ground. Stay away from that big hole on the right side of the infield. The 1-1. Ripped to short. They take the force out. Inning over. The A’s strand one, but they lead it three nothing. Welcome back and a new arm on the mound to start the eighth. Number 49 hasn’t pitched in the last three days. Now pitching for the A’s. Number 49 digging in. Dylan Mariners. The Mariners in striking distance but have some work to do. Boo. It starts with the laidoff man. I need a good at bat out of him right here. And that’s in the dirt. Movement in the bullpen. Michael Hoffman. The closer getting cranked up for a possible save opportunity to third. Urchella zips it to first and that’s one away as the leadoff man is out in the eighth. That’s a huge defensive play in the late stages of the game. It might not be the most challenging we’ve seen today, but it needed to be made. That’s helping your team. Williamson the next to hit takes outside. One ball. The M trailing by three and we’re in the top of the eighth. Next offering is in for a strike. Pitching has been pretty dominant in this one, but you got to be careful. Not working with too big a lead. They could get right back in this ball game if you’re not careful. One down, base is empty. Taps softly third base side. A swinging bunt. Whips it to first on the run. Nicely done for the hour. That play won’t be trending on social media later on, but it’s still important to execute it to perfection. This game is a lot harder than it looks. partner. Two down, base is empty. JP Crawford up next for the Mariners. 0 for three in this one at 96. That pitch is in for a strike. One strike. Hot shot to first base and he snags it to end the inning. Mariners go down quietly there. They trail it here. Three nothing. Now pitching for back now. New pitcher on the mound as we roll into the bottom of the eighth. Ryan W on for his 20th appearance of the year. Now the A’s designated hitter Brent Rooker with this kind of lead. He can swing freely, try to hit the ball out of the park, do what he loves to do. Swings and hits one in the air out towards right field. Moore makes the grab. One down. Now batting left fielder Tyler. Next up for the A Tyler Soderstrom. That clips a corner. Activity in the bullpen. Jackson Kowar appears to be getting loose. And now one right side hard hit slinging it to first in time. Now batting catcher Shay Langalers. And now here’s the A’s catcher Shay Langalers known for his rocket arm behind the plate. First pitch doesn’t find the zone. He swings and fouls one off. The one-1 is fouled off. Two down, nobody on here near the bottom half of the eighth inning. And a swing and a miss. And a nice inning of work there as he sets him down. One, two, three. Offense held in check there. Ninth inning coming up. It’s the A’s three and the Mariners nothing. Now pitching for the back now. And on the mound, the closer, Michael Hoffman, on for his major league debut and a moment he will never forget. Better believe that. It’s always so special the first time you get into a big league ball game. I did it as a position player, but for him as a pitcher, sure there’s some nerves there. Probably don’t want to squeeze the baseball too tight. Just relax and do what you’re capable of doing. Rodriguez in the box here. Lets that one go for a ball. That one fouled off. Swings through that one. had a tough day at the plate. Three strikeouts already. It’s hard not to think negative, but you got to find a way to somehow center up the baseball and put it in play. Ball two. Two two spoils that one and it remains two and two. had a swing and a miss. Beat him with a fast ball. Well, that right there is what you want to see out of your closer. Come in and close the door, cancel any hope that that opponent has in making some type of comeback in the ball game. Tell you what, that helps him settle in and that helps everybody else relax a little bit to get these other two outs. Raleigh in the box now. No balls in a strike. That one misses. And now it’s even one and one. Tap foul at the plate. Twins and misses. It’s a strike out down to the last out for the Mariners. No, it’s kind of tough right here. Closer comes in and he strikes out the first two hitters. not to feel defeated and that this is going to go quickly, but you got to go up there, maybe try to find a way to choke up on the bat, spread out, put the ball in play, and maybe you can extend this inning.
