[Bowman] Snit didn’t get into specifics after saying Grant Holmes is still debating his options. Just like Strider and Smith-Shawver, the decision will likely be to undergo TJ surgery or have the splint inserted, if that is an option.

  1. Might be a long, long time before Holmes plays again if he gets TJ surgery that takes him out for 2026 combined with the looming lockout in 2027

  2. For fucks sake, our pitching injuries this season are absurd. AA better do something for 2026, we can’t have a repeat of this year.

  3. Jeez. Yet another TJ (or TJ-adjacent). I know it’s been said, but something has gotta be done

  4. 1. We need to stop the reliever -> starter conversion pipeline. Didn’t work for Holmes or Lopez.

    2. I’m not sure what the trainers are doing and I’m no expert on the human body, but it seems like we have to be more cautious with our pitchers.

In retrospect, pitchers throwing harder and harder will lead to more injuries as we’ve seen. Not sure if 88 mph control pitchers will ever make a comeback.

  5. Why are our starting pitchers getting injured so often?

Granted I haven’t surveyed the entire leagues pitchers but off the top of my head

    Soroka (twice)
    Ynoa
    Anderson
    Wright
    Matzek
    Lee
    Jimenez
    Strider
    Sale (no surprise there though)
    Schwelly
    AJSS
    Lopez
    Holmes

All these guys have missed (or will miss) significant time with big injuries.

  6. Man. MLB needs to figure something out with pitchers and their arms.

I guess it’s more of a baseball thing in general.

  7. Did anyone figure out yet who put the damn voodoo hex on us? Just give them their chicken and pint of rum and tell them we’re sorry so they’ll cut this shit out already.

  8. Expand rosters and have a 10 man rotation with 25 relievers in the pen.

    I’m half joking.

  9. Not saying we all saw this happening when we decided to turn a career reliever into a starter, but I think that a lot of people saw this coming when we decided to turn him into a starter

  10. People will inevitably say ‘but Maddux did-‘ in their hot take about velo because they only remember Old Greg.

Young Greg wasn’t throwing lava, but 94 was right about- maybe a hair over- average for that era. And asking people to emulate the greatest control pitcher in living memory is stupid anyways because 99.99999% of pitchers haven’t a prayer.

So I’ll pass on that comparison.

We’ve gotten to the point where TJ is… well, the opposite of experimental.
