I mean, it makes sense. They were almost certainly going to trade Clase and now you’re SOL there. Plus Santana, Thomas and Allen won’t get you a massive haul in return.
If the offers are unbelievable and can help you both immediately and in the future, you have to at least consider it, especially when Kwan and Bieber both will be gone within the next 2 years.
God we wasted a once in a lifetime talent in Jose
Say it with me everyone: “FUCK THE DOLANS”
What’s worse is that all we’ll get in return is prospects (because why would you trade away a talent like Kwan who’s already young-ish and under team control to get a different MLB-level talent?). Can’t wait to see how we ruin our next crop of light-hitting middle infielders.
This team has been breaking my heart since the 90’s. I don’t know why I keep watching. Fuck the Dolans.
Complete rebuild incoming and they have nothing to ship out except Kwan, Jose, Cade Smith, Bibee, and Williams. Only two of them will get you a haul of prospects which equal nothing
Could we please play some of our prospects this year. Tired of watching this shit show.
Just think. If they trade Kwan and Bieber we can all mass cancel our guards tv service
We went to the ALCS last year. Fucking pathetic. Sell the team!!!
If we trade Kwan, what is the point of following this team? He’s the only good homegrown hitter we’ve had in years and we can barely field a competent lineup even with him on the team
If they trade Kwan it would be unbelievably f’d up
There’s not really anything in new here.
Bieber was always trade bait and at end of his contract.
Kwan gets a lot of interest and we have always listened.
If/when we flip Kwan, I don’t know how one can manage to maintain even cursory attention anymore. It’s hard enough as it is.
Trading Kwan makes no sense though, he has 2 more years of arbitration. His value isn’t going to increase or decrease by then so why wouldn’t you want him in the team for next year.
This is so on brand for being a Cleveland sports fan. Favorite players can’t be paid or kept happy, team goes into a full on tailspin after their best season in years instead of building on it.
I’m just sitting here with my tickets for left field at the Mets Guardians game next week hoping to see some great plays from Kwan. Instead I’m going to be waving at Myles Straw while being razzed by everyone around me while the Mets dunk double digits on us.
Salary. Floor. Now.
I don’t know why they don’t just keep Kwan for the duration of his contract and trade him then. Hes the only decent OF we’ve had since Michael Brantley. If we trade him we just have another hole in the lineup and we’re probably not getting a proven everyday player for him. Bieber is gone next season anyway so no reason not to get whatever we can for him.
This is why I will never be on the owner’s side when it comes to salary disputes. They expect to make a profit every year while the team value appreciates.
They don’t ever want to risk taking a loss at all. Something they can afford to do.
When the team is sold, they make their money back exponentially.
Yet fans will complain every time a player signs a long term deal and at times don’t produce as much as they should after signing it.

I would seriously start question the FO if they opted to trade Kwan at the deadline considering we have another 2 years of team control with him. You’re building back a solid SP rotation and your bullpen is still pretty darn good.
If they want to trade Biebs, fine. Take what you can get I’m not going to expect him to opt into his option next year.
Clase is a bummer but people are severely overreacting like it’s going to hamstring the team similar toe Deshaun Watson. Even if he gets kicked out of the league and we get nothing for him, the team will be just fine. I’d rather the FO take a good long look at the hitting coaches to be able to adequately develop our prospects bats to be more than just a flash in the pan for a month after they get promoted to the big leagues.
Other than that, I’m perfectly fine with a very quiet trade deadline. Trade Biebs if you want to, but it’s fine to keep everyone else imo. Let Santana finish what could likely be his final year in Cleveland.
I really dont consider myself a cleveland sports fan doomer but if they trade Kwan I’ll have to re-examine
If this happens, I might just check out entirely. There’s no hopium left to smoke.
At least do right by Jose and ship him to a team that actually wants to win.
This would send me into a depression greater than the 1930s. (real talk I’ll just be really pissed and unsure of if I should watch another game the rest of the year [not becuase I hate the guards, but becuase I love the guards and am boycotting these decisions despite the fact I know all too well the loss of 1 viewer wont mean a single thing])… dang i’m coping pretty hard rn. I’m going to get offline and go touch grass.
If you trade Kwan, I think you have to seriously consider trading Jose. I’m vehemently opposed to both obviously, but trading Kwan is absolutely waving a white flag and diving into a rebuild. There’s no reason to put Jose through that and you could very much speed up the rebuild with the prospects you could get for Jose (which we wouldn’t develop and they’d flop)
