Brian Cashman must pick a firm direction at the trade deadline

Don’t worry he’s the smartest man in the room
Of course they’re going to buy, they already traded for McMahon and Rosario. Cash will probably bring in another 2-3 arms but a big deal is unlikely. Possible it’s enough of an upgrade in a weak AL but I’m not holding my breath, this team has a bunch of holes.
They’re always going to buy. Except they won’t part with the stuff necessary to make worthy improvements to the team.
The direction is pretty obvious no? He’s not going to waste a ton of assets on rentals. McMahon made sense b/c he has a control. They are going to add controllable guys if they can b/c it helps now and later. If they were in a better spot they would be more willing to give up prospect capital for rentals to win now.
Just go for it id rather not worry about next year and just go for it this year
They’ve been terrible for a month and still bafflingly hold the #1 wildcard spot. He has no other choice but to keep buying.
The direction is going to be underperforming bullpen guys that he hopes Blake can fix, and low cost rental arm like Michael Soroka.
I really don’t think this is our year I’d hate to see them give up any of the top prospects for rentals.
I’m a simple man. I see a fansided.com link, I don’t click on it.
Can someone tell me the names of Yankees prospects that you would have missed had they been traded? Judge and Cano. Who else would you have been devastated to lose in a trade?
This team has too many issues for them to be buyers.
The modern trade deadline with expanded playoffs is not beneficial to the Yankees to many teams “in the hunt” for any reasonable deals to be made. Problem is Cashman is terrible at building rosters and uses deadlines to cover the failures he make in the offseason. Yankees have been spiraling and should be selling at the deadline cause this is not a winning team.
I’m not holding my breath thinking AssMan is going to make the necessary changes to really build a contender while Judge is still in his prime
I say sell. We need too many pitching holes plugged and the resources are simply not out there. Offense is also too streaky and trash to be relied on (see last night)
If they trade Schlittler, Jones, or Lombard for anything less than Paul Skenes or Elly De La Cruz I’m out.
Hopefully that direction is a graceful retirement.
“Should” and “must” aren’t the same thing. Cashman SHOULD pick a direction and stick with it. Cashman somehow with poor results and a bloated payroll has unlimited job security and MUST do nothing.
IMO, this team is going nowhere and should sell everyone in an expiring contract to get some talent into the farm system, which can be used to help acquire players in the offseason. But the front office will never admit to failure so there’s very very little chance of that happening.
Can we ban links to articles on Fansided? We don’t need this garbage posted here.
He should be in win now mode especially with an aging Judge that’s starting to get the injury bug but he won’t and online fans will applaud the team for wasting another year of Judge’s prime and now they get to waste a year of Fried. I’d say they’d be wasting a year of Cole but he got hurt so not like he’s helping the team anyways.
Idk as someone that grew up during the tail end of Hal it is sad to see how the team is fucking afraid of big moves now and the fanbase is totally chill about it as if we haven’t won a WS since 2009. Dodgers Mets and even smaller market teams make bigger moves than the Yankees it seems like
He needs to trade himself for another GM.
there’s no piece out there that puts us over the top, we prob ride with what we have and see where we are next year after free agency. Cashman once again came in with a flawed roaster but he will blame it on injuries, without realizing it’s on him for signing injury prone players for years and having issues with the training staff. Eventually we need to try some new blood but we won’t.
Few silver linings are
1.) this team can get hot and 100% can make a deep playoff run with the roster now. It’s possible as we do have a ton of talent on this team
2.) If we do finish the year like we are now, do believe they will sign Tucker or someone equivalent etc and really really go all in for Judge’s final peak years. Wouldn’t be shocked to see volpe traded or moved to 2nd and we trade for correa for machado or something wild we didn’t see coming too
Sell everybody. Imagine the haul you could get.
Sell. I don’t know what they have to sell with any real value, but sell it.
Eat as much as Stanton’s contract as necessary to get him off the books. Sell anybody that isn’t going to help you win next year. Then go and rebuild this offseason. But watching this crap year after year (and yes, that includes last year) is annoying, disheartening and boring.
All AL teams are flawed so I don’t think you go nuts right now. You need a reliever for sure. The sp has not been bad even with 3 major guys going down. I hate to say it but Stanton’s lack of playing the field is hurting the Yankees and will continue for the next 2 years. If you take half the salary and get him off the team to a west coast contender I think it opens up the lineup. Right now I think the best lineup is
1. Goldie
2. Jazz
3. Judge
4. Bellinger
5. Ben rice
6. Dominguez
7. McMahon
8. Wells
9. Volpe
Looking to next year you have to lockup bellinger and he’s your insurance at first base. If they believe in Spencer jones then Spencer takes over for Dominguez and he shifts back to his natural position of cf. Cody can play any of the outfield spots to spell those three guys while Ben can play first half the week while he’s doing that and rotating who is dhing. You have to get Ben rice in there this year to see what he can really do, is he going to be part of your future or not.
We aren’t contenders. No need to give up the house. Team has too many flaws to fix mid season.
They should not be sellers but it’s the better alternative to doing nothing. Order of what they should be doing
