Fire Nico and Sell the Team.
Why??? The AAC isn’t even that old and it’s perfectly fine!
So they were looking to relocate lol
city limits designation would rule out lots of other possibilities including their other property which is just outside.
The article unfortunately doesn’t have any other info about the sites other than that they’re in Dallas proper.
There were a few additional interesting tidbits from Welts though. Welts supposedly considers the arena planning as a totally separate thing from the Adelsona’ pro-gambling lobbying (for now). Also, Welts talks about how the team is considering how best to do a direct-to-consumer streaming service for Mavs games to bypass local broadcasters and hopefully get rid of local blackouts.
Bring back Reunion Arena.
Why do they need their own arena? It’s not like they would even pay for it anyways
As long as I can still get to it by train. That’s the only reason I go to games out there.
As a MFFL who moved from the city, help me understand why they need a new arena? AA is less than 25 years old and is in a very central spot in Downtown. I assume most NBA teams share with an NHL team, why does a team who doesn’t play year round need its own arena anyway? Seems like the most Texas thing to do, like how the Rangers built a brand new ballpark when the other one was only built in 94.
How about the 110 acres Valley View Mall stood on off 635 that still hasn’t started redevelopment?
How about something in the Design District near their practice facility, maybe tear down that eyesore shell of a former hotel, which again would be across the highway from the American Airlines Center?
Would they do something crazy and try to buy land and redevelop somewhere in Oak Cliff or South Dallas? How about deciding to “help out the City of Dallas” with redeveloping the Convention Center or tearing down where the jail sits since the city wants to build a new jail somewhere? I’m just throwing out ideas
I’m thinking it’ll be either Valley View or Design District. Hope they include mass transit option (looking at you, Jerry). Also fire Nico and sell the team
They would be fools to not put it near public transportation. There isnt much room for development in dallas proper (north of downtown) so idk where its gonna go
I’m just so tired of every team needing a multi billion dollar stadium every decade.
The AAC is really nice. Things have finally been built around it. Let us enjoy the damn place for a while.
So when they build a new arena will the billionaire owners pay for it, or will it be part of a bond measure to pass the cost off to the average citizen?

Fuck Nico
It says they’re looking for a site of about 35-40 acres. Where do we think they might place it? The Dallas Morning News says the old Reunion Arena site was [50 acres](https://www.dallasnews.com/news/curious-texas/2019/01/16/reunion-arena-has-been-gone-for-nearly-10-years-curious-texas-looks-at-why-it-was-demolished/), would they want to be that close to the American Airlines Center?
