No we’re sad we traded amazing players for you
More sad wood and gore are gone but I still miss you at times Juanito
Unpopular opinion: I miss Soto and his swagger. I don’t think the trade for Soto was a mistake, his addition made this team fantastic, and it’s unfortunate that because he’s a Boras player, we got out priced and couldn’t keep him.
Nahhhh. The boos are louder at Yankee Stadium 🏟️ 😂
This is true. I am sad he’s not on my preferred team
Juan Soto is a bum
He’s not wrong. But paying $740M for a DH is crazy. It was fun while it lasted.
I know there’s a lot of baggage (either real or rumored) with Soto, but if we could have made a contract work I absolutely would have welcomed him on this team. We certainly wouldn’t be having the discussion about a solution in left field right now.
With that said, it’s no secret at this point he just wants the largest bag, and aside from our financial restrictions at the ownership level, having a player like that on your team becomes cancerous after a while in that they are always looking past their teammates towards where they can get paid. I know players deserve to get paid but the best teams in baseball do have some degree of unity amongst their players and I feel like a bag chasing Soto is the antithesis of that.
He wasn’t doing much for the Padres
I feel like the boos came from him arguing with the umpire with some calls, which yeah that’s gonna get you booed no matter what if you’re on the opposing team. It was a justified argument cause the ump was doo doo last night but who knows if the fans realized that until they saw the replays on TV.
Don’t miss the attitude. And admitting you give up. But miss the talent
Lotta money to pay for a guy to shuffle, draw walks, and have questionable fielding. Never really felt like he bought in to the clubs vision and what the goals were. This sentiment was echoed by players. He was a good player but I feel like we got the better end of the story deal if king and cease can figure it out and if we trade cease for other guys.
I’m definitely sad. I ended up with 2 teams because of him, but i just can’t bring myself to follow him to either NY team. Cause, eww.
I was very surprised by the boos – still don’t get it
Wish he would’ve stayed. Wish we didn’t give up what we did for a rental even more.
It was always clear that he wanted to be the big dog and that was never going to happen here with Manny so there shouldn’t be any hard feelings. And he wasn’t the reason we didn’t win in 23.
I wouldn’t say I’m sad, but we could certainly use him in our lineup again. I wish him well… just not while he’s playing us.
Delusional is strong with this one
Lmao sad you are gone… kid is overrated af.
As a padres fan I am okay he is gone. Wish him nothing but the best against everyone else.
I don’t even understand why “we” boo him. Bro was traded here and traded away.
So many people don’t know ball in here
I mean we recently were cheering for higgy and he wasn’t playing for us. I don’t think it’s a matter of cheering only for current players Soto
I don’t get the boos. We traded him, he didn’t leave.
Mets shelled out $$$ like he’s Babe Ruth lol. I’m not even sure he’s even a top 10 player in MLB anymore, especially considering he’s mostly useless on defense.

Of course. We were never going to keep him considering the circumstances but he was out last 900+ OPS bat that we had.
The booing was because he sucked when he was here. He hit about .230 in 2022 (also in the playoffs). Yall talk about getting to the NLCS in 2022 but we didn’t get there because of Soto. We got there because a few other unheralded players got really hot (like Grisham) and our pitching was excellent (until we ran out of pitching against the Phillies). Trading for Soto was all hype and his contributions are overblown imo. Now his numbers were much better in 2022 but still a bit short of expectations. Too bad we didn’t make the playoffs that year. Overall, we learned the hard way Soto is overrated
People couldn’t wait to boo him when he came up to hit last night.
No point in doing that when he was traded by the Padres and we were never in for him during free agency. He was a temporary solution to win a WS but it didn’t work, so be it.
People hate to admit this, but the 2022 Padres team managed by Bob Melvin was awesome. The playoff run is unmatched since 1998 beating the Mets in NY, slaying the dragon in the divisional series, then making the NLCS.
The Soto trade brought energy, excitement, and expectations that we haven’t had here since 1996 to 1998, that’s more than 25 fucking years.
So to boo someone like Soto, who played a key role in our core memory bank as Padres fans, is fucking insane and so so so short sighted.
True, true! Still a soft spot for Juan! Don’t blame him for chasing the bag, though. But still fond of him and when he was a Padre!
Can we not behave like those babies over at Yankee stadium.
He right right
I’m happy the Mets overpaid for him. Many of the players not brought back from the last 2 seasons were way overpaid and aren’t playing great. We need to be more appreciative of the front office decisions. They brought in so many players who revived their careers or made a name for themselves – and then got rid of them and watched them struggle. It’s uncanny.
I’m not “sad” I’m disappointed he was money hungry
Booing him is pretty dumb, same vibes as Dodgers booing Manny.
After watching Manny in a Padres uniform, I’ve learned that home team fans booing an opponent is a twisted sign of respect.
Im not sad you’re gone
We boo him bc we’re mad he’s coming up to bat against us. Not more complicated than that.
I was happy when he was gone. He’s basically Kevin Youkilis (no disrespect) and gets paid like he’s Judge or Ohtani.
I don’t really miss him. Is that crazy??
We don’t think about this fool
I’m not sad. But I’m also not booing.
I mean are we supposed to cheer for him?…da fuq you expect
*.249*
I will always say fuck the dodgers and fuck Soto. We spent wat too much for someone who played subpar rf and watched the baseball at the plate. Fuck Soto fuck the dodgers
Damn right I miss him but he cost too damn much.
I don’t remember ha seong Kim getting a lot of boos
The trade for him definitely cemented a different era of Padres baseball. In due time, we’ll look back at his tenure with fond memories.
