He’ll be back up soon enough. Just needs to clear his head
Brazoban seems to fall apart as soon as his confidence is shaken. Tough trait for a relief pitcher. Hopefully a few weeks in the minors helps him get it back.
Brazoban-ned!
They did Brazoban a favor. Let the guy catch his breath and hopefully come back strong.
He is most likely only going to pitch in a game once or twice down there. He’s been a workhorse all year and recently he’s struggled to get the big out. He’ll be back prob in 7 days on the dot
Needed to happen
This is the only way to get these guys to perform. Fighting for their place everyday. No room for complacency. In NY you either show up or pack up 🧳
Thank god. This Needed to be done. Hopefully he gets his shit together and Comes back stronger
“You didn’t hustle, you go to timeout”
Id much rather him be used for Mop Up and in leverage in a pinch. Butto gets a demotion I guess? It would have been nice to put him in high leverage first. But hey it’s Mendoza so we probably see both Butto and Devenski tonight lmao.
I’m shocked no one picked up Devenski when we DFAed him
I like Brazoban- and I trust him to figure this shit out- but I think this is best for him. I do kinda wish we had a better reliever than Devenski to bring up.
Fuck yeah! That’ll teach him to cover first [and ideally get his control back]
Nice move. Brazoban has talent but he gets too much in his own head. He covers first last night and maybe they win. Shows accountability.
✌️ Brazoban. He was amazing to start the season but holy hell has he been excruciating to watch.
Last night was clearly the final straw. Took 8 pitches to get one out. Ok sure, that’s fine. But then proceeded to give up back to back to back singles, a walk and then finally got the fly out that was hit quite well and if it wasn’t Arraez, might have been a homer with a middle middle fastball lol
I hate HATE late games I went to bed 1 am had to be up by 6 am I feel hungover without drinking
I don’t think Brazoban gets demoted if he hesistates slightly then races to the bag and gets beat in a bang-bang play.
The fact he hesitated not once, but twice, then didn’t go full tilt to get to the bag rendering the play moot is wholeheartedly unacceptable.
Does he need Lindor or Alvarez to remind him in that specific scenario that a ball hit to the right side he needs to immediately cover or that he needs to back up home plate on a ball hit to the outfield?
Anyway, he still needs work to do on a tertiary pitch because he’s been solely a four seamer and changeup pitch and has not been using his sinker or cutter enough.
He needs to start trusting his sinker more as a bait pitch with two strikes that he can get righties to whiff in up and in or lefties to swing well away at.
His changeup and fastball don’t have enough of a velocity difference for it to be effective if his fastball command wavers.
Yeah the not covering first will happen to even the best pitchers. For me, it was not regaining control of the situation. He completely lost it in what was close to playoff atmosphere where games go back and forth all day. Can’t have that.
If he bounced back and took control, would be a different story
Had no idea Brazoban had options. Should have done this ages ago
Brazoban has talent and I’m sure we’ll see him again sooner or later, but it’s clear that he was fatiguing as the season has gone along and a spin through AAA to get more rest and regroup with the coaches and development staff there (“pitching lab”) will do him a lot of good. He’s got good stuff so I’m still high on his future, but lately he’s been throwing BP and we don’t have that margin of error at this point in a competitive season.

Thank God it was the guy who played a huge role in us losing yesterday’s game and not the goat Rico Garcia
NO MORE BRAZOBAN YES!!!!!
No way! Wow. Didn’t know Brazoban even had options.
wow, talk about a punishment, never saw that coming. Also can’t believe a 35 year old pitcher still has options
Whoa. I know yesterday was rough but to option him? I mean, I’m trusting Stearns since he’s a helluva lot smarter than I am but I’m a bit shocked.
Dayum
prisoner of brazoban is no more
