ANTHONY RICHARDSON Is ABSOLUTELY LIGHTING Up The Indianapolis Colts Training Camp… | Colts News |
The Indianapolis Colts held about an hour and 45 minute practice this morning. Anthony Richardson, as always, got there early and got his mental reps in and then he actually stayed a little bit later to sign autographs for fans and to speak to reporters. He talked about the pressure and now, hey, I was the fourth pick a couple of years ago. If that isn’t pressure, I don’t know what is. And now Daniel Jones being here, there’s some competition. The Colts have to make a decision, as I mentioned last video, on his fifth year option next year. So Richardson, you can tell that he spent this off season putting in significant work and boy has it showed on the field because he’s been absolutely awesome. And the reason why this makes me happy is because so many fans around football were doubting AR. So many Colts fans. And it’s funny because those same Colts fans are now AR supporters because he’s done so well in camp. N stay on that side, bro. We don’t claim you. For those of you that didn’t believe in AR and he had this type of ability, I mean, what were you watching? Of course, we knew he was raw and unpolished, but the guy has always been a very, very good and capable football player, and he’s starting to put the pieces together. The Colts offense yesterday won the day. The Colts offense today won the day. Now, I’m not going to lie to you guys, the defense late was amazing. Like, the defense showed up and was very, very good. But overall, the offense still won the day. That’s back-to-back patted practices, back-to-back wins for the offense. And I think the reason for that is because the offensive line is going to be able to block a lot better in pads and it just brought out the beast in AR as well. So let’s talk about how exactly by the numbers it went. So AR, like I said, had another excellent day. You ask a couple of people and they have it differently. So I don’t know exactly the numbers on his throws, but let’s just go with nine of 11 during 11on on 111s with touchdowns to Michael Pitman Jr., Mo Ali Cox and Josh Jones. In terms of the high red zone 11 on 111 sessions, Richardson with the starters went three of three through the air and cap the session with a patient find to Josh Downs on a deep inbreaker in the back of the end zone for the score. The Colts have always been very good in the red zone with AR because of his ability to keep it and be a runner. Of course, sort of a QB draw on the goal line. Also, Richardson, he just he’s got that touch on the ball, man. and he could put it into a tight window and you just have to account for him to be able to get out of the pocket and it’s just tough for a defense to have to deal with and he’s so difficult to bring down. Remember his rookie season when Aaron Donald struggled to tackle Richardson? If Aaron Donald struggles, everyone’s going to struggle. I mean, it’s Aaron Donald. He’s one of the all-time great players. Dude’s absolutely jacked. I remember just watching that game live and looking into Aaron Donald’s eyes and he just couldn’t believe it. I don’t think he’s seen a QB the size of Richardson. I mean, Cam Newton probably, but outside of that, like him and AR, they just haven’t been quarterbacks that big and strong and physical. Just crazy to think about. Yeah. And then Richardson went five for six with the Colts starters in their seven on seven period. A couple of connections to Warren with the loan incompletion being a deep ball to Alec Pierce, a true 50-50 ball that Samuel Wulmarmac, the third broke up. And Wulmach is very underrated corner, so I’m not too surprised he was able to break that up. I thought he was good for us last season. There’s just so many DBs. It’s going to be tough to be able to start or just Yeah, it’s going to be difficult for sure. Richardson, okay, he his one incompletion was just a 50/50 ball to Pierce. You don’t mind him throwing that. I mean, any Colts fan would be like, “Yeah, throw that every single time if Al Pierce is one down the field, but Tyler Warren has gotten going.” And I touched upon this yesterday. He looks like an absolute stud. I mean, we all knew he was going to come in and be good. It’s Tyler Warren. I mean, even like months before the season even ended, I mean, I was mocking Tyler Warren to the Colts out of Penn State cuz they needed a tight end and he just does everything. He’s the type of guy to where you don’t understand his size until you see it in person. It’s kind of like Richardson. Tyler Warren is a giant, bro. Doesn’t matter who he’s standing next to. Even Galani Woods, he still looks like a giant. And he just doesn’t drop the ball. He also makes one hit at snags. Okay, you throw it behind him, it doesn’t even matter. Like the Colts haven’t had a player like that in a very long time, yet let alone a tight end. I mean, you got to go back to like the Dallas Clark type of days for that. This is a huge addition to the offense. And same thing with DJ Giddens. Obviously, like he’s not Tyler Warren, but this is speed next to JT is going to translate. It’s going to open up the offense for the Colts. And I’m excited about it, too. And Bernard Ryman. Wow. I mean, what are the odds? My video yesterday, I was like, the Colts need to get this done. And then about let’s say 5 hours after that video was posted, they end up signing him to a massive massive extension. When I say massive, I mean is a lot of money. Fouryear 100 million. Last season, Ryman allowed four sacks, two QB hits, 20 pressures, 4.5% pressure rate, all career best. And it’s good to see a guy like Bernard Ryman get paid. He’s just such a good dude. He’s going to be a cult for life. hopefully. And Richardson’s blind side is protected. I’m excited about this. The Colts have to pay their guys. Hopefully Alec Pierce is next. The receiver market is massive right now. We just saw Courtland Sutton get a big deal. I think Alec Pierce isn’t going to get that big of a deal, but he’s going to get paid for sure, especially because he’s a younger guy who led the league in yards per catch. So hopefully like within the next couple of weeks, the Colts are able to figure out something longterm for Alec Pierce because he’s a huge part of this offense. Everyone wants to talk about Pitman, AD Mitchell, and Josh Downs. Alec Pierce is an impressive player, and whenever he’s out there, defenses have to take a step back or two steps or three steps back. No question about it. But I will say just from what people are saying, the Colts QB competition seems to get clearer and clearer every single practice. Richardson, he’s just putting together multiple consecutive great and accurate days. He’s showing up early to get extra mental reps in. Everyone wants to talk about the physical side of AR of missing throws and his footwork and technique and all that. I think it’s more mental for Richardson. He came into the league as one of the youngest quarterbacks ever to start. Didn’t have a lot of college reps. Really didn’t have a lot of any reps. Like even high school college and now all of a sudden he’s starting week one for the Indianapolis Colts. A team that still isn’t fully over Andrew Law like Payton. Like this team has had some of the best quarterbacks to ever do it. and they’ve been in a quarterback carousel and then Richardson comes in and he was the fourth pick. So, of course, there’s a lot of pressure and there was some promising plays for sure, some promising moments, but overall just he couldn’t stay healthy and he just didn’t look great. Richardson, he’s put in the work and it’s starting to show on the field. And a lot of people seem to forget that he’s only 23. Like, he turned 23 a couple of months ago. He’s still super super young. You look at guys like Sam Darnold and Gino Smith and hell, what about Daniel Jones? I mean, these guys, they don’t really, they haven’t figured it out. Will Daniel Jones still I mean, we’ll wait and see. I’ll talk about Jones in a second here, but hypothetically, you know, Jones does get the starting job. I mean, these quarterbacks later 20s, even like early 30s is when they’re starting to sort of figure it out. And it usually comes with the best talent they’ve had around them, which certainly this is the best roster Daniel Jones has been a part of. Like, he did play with Saquon, but a battle line, not a lot of skill positions. The Colts have a lot of weapons to work with. I don’t think it’s a perfect offense by any means, but just it’s good enough. Like there’s no reason the Colts shouldn’t be a 10- win team this season. Their schedule’s not that difficult. The division Texans are good, but now the Jags and Titans, nothing special about them, at least in my opinion. So, but yeah, Daniel Jones, we’ll kind of end the video on him. At the end of the day, this is a QB competition. They’re getting 5050 reps in practice. Jones though, he just he’s had some good throws. I didn’t think he looked amazing today. And there was a couple of throws that he had. One of them was it was a late throw on an inbreaker route to Michael Pitman Jr. which was a pass break up by Justin Wallally. I thought Jones also a couple of times held the ball too long. Like this one play he hit JT in the flat but it would have been a sack. No question. Daniel Jones needs to get rid of the football quickly. He needs to be a little bit more decisive. I think Richardson has been just a flatout better quarterback and given his upside in and age there’s no reason he shouldn’t be the starter. But I think Jones still has a lot of potential. He’s had some amazing throws. He’s gotten the crowd going and you can’t really ask for a better backup than Daniel Jones to be honest with you because you know Richardson hasn’t been able to play a full season so far in his two years. So if he does go down, I think the Colts will certainly believe in Daniel Jones to be able to help get them wins. But for right now, AR is 100% at least in my opinion and most people pretty much like 95% of people that are talking about this AR has looked better. And it’s not even just about him looking better than Daniel Jones. like he looks like an absolute stud. Like there’s a big difference. Oh, he’s out playing Dino Jones. No, he looks really, really good. And for the Colts, that’s music to their ears because we knew this coming into AR. He’s either going to be kind of a nobody or he was going to hit his ceiling and he was going to transform the franchise.

AR is going to be the future of the colts GO COLTS 💪🏿
straight up. The last year the Texas had a bad season. During training camp the defense looked awesome. But it was the offense was just that bad……lol I think AR will be good. Just need to stay healthy.
go bolts i mean colts haha 🙂
Coming from a skins fan, I’ve been rooting for him since day 1
I’ve always believed and always will believe in AR I truly think he is our guy
I wish i had a list of all the AR haters ive seen on youtube. There are sooo many!
Colts fan my whole life Anthony Richardson is trash. He's lazy he's not smart He's not conditioned He's just an all-around loser. How's your freak athlete if you can't even play He's always hurt. Just another bad season for the colts if we start this loser.
I am holding my judgement until he starts in actual games and makes it half way without landing on the IR list.
Huge statement for no contact football with nobody rushing the QB. It's more like girls flag football than what Sept. 7th is going to be like. It's just practicing. Nothing great about it! Take off the red shirts & turn the dial up to 100.
I’m glad he’s getting better ❤️🩹
I love the colts. I watched ar on tv been picked at the 2023 draft, and I’ve believes. I saw his first game in person cause i knew he could be great one day. ❤💙 go colts.
Got $200 with my work colleagues that he will quit before week 1.
Athleticism does not equate a competent QB
Can the kid make the easy throws
Is he accurate
Can he read coverage
Make it through progressions
Does he watch film
Identify pressure
Can he make in game adjustments
Can he give consistent effort
Is he obsessed with football
He hasn't checked many of those.
Statistically, he's the worst QB to play in the last 30 years.
The question isn't "Can he physically do it?"
It's about his mentality
Hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard
I've got so much hate for believing in AR and the most hate from Colts fans, I said last year he would take a step and this year change everybody's mind and put it all together, well I was wrong last year was a step back until after the benching then he made some progress…..
Don’t worry. I’m still in the failure camp. He’s always been less accurate than Tim Tebow. I believe all the data since high school more than 3 days of camp. Even if he magically became competent, he still won’t be healthy.
False hopes. This is training camp. He's going to buckle in actual games. He's never been accurate in his entire career.
