Kings CAUTIOUS ➡️ TRADE MALIK MONK 😤🔥 #malikmonk #sacramentokings #LightTheBeam #Kings #NBA

NBA, the scared money in the aprons. Like, I don’t think Malik is is getting $22 million ever again, unless he somehow explodes and takes his game to another level, which I suppose is possible. So, the Kings are not just looking to dump Malik Monk and trade Malik Monk. They know he has value because he is a good player, a potential sixman of the year candidate of course, but they’re also trying to get off of the long-term financial commitment. And those final couple years of Malik’s deal, that final player option year of Malik’s deal, that’s one of the major reasons why Malik’s market has been so barren, because teams are again scared money. They’re afraid to invest too much into these kind of middle-of the road players, especially with how expensive the stars are at the top and how scary the apron system is to all these teams right now and how punishing the aprons are to teams who who cross those thresholds.

  1. Monk is a winner even though he might not be Scott Perry’s ideal type of player. Shouldn’t we want to keep winners? Kings were two games below .500 last year but were seven or eight games above .500 when Monk played; even after Fox trade when Sabonis and Monk were healthy, Kings won 60% of their games. Tired of GM’s making decisions strictly financially – so what he’s got 3 years on his contract he is good value for what he gets.

Two years ago during 46 win season Kings were on pace to win 50+ and in 5th spot; that was by far their best team in the last 3 years but then Monk and Huerter got hurt and the king slipped to 9th (still destroyed Dubs in 1st play-in game) even though they blew 15 double digit leads that year.

Monk is a winner. Monk wants to be here. Monk is the soul of this team.

If you get Kuminga maybe it’s worthwhile but if you’re getting rid of Monk just so you can have Westbrook and a shorter contract – than F that.
