MLB LIVE🔴 Texas Rangers vs Los Angeles Angels – Jul 29, 2025 | Full Game MLB 2025 EN VIVO

Hello and welcome. Thanks for joining us. An ALS matchup on the show. It’s the Texas Rangers and the Los Angeles Angels. First pitch coming your way next. Just about ready to go. And today’s starter, Reed Deetmers. And Singy, we were talking earlier about how he’s doing a great job navigating through tough spots. Well, you can see his whip is a little above the league average. Not bad. But I think in this one, he’s going to need to control that a little bit better. Try to limit hitters from getting on base. Stay in that windup instead of the stretch. And when he does allow base runners be able to throw a pitch, he’s going to get a swing and miss, get out of the inning so that a base hit doesn’t do more damage and put his team behind the eightball. Grounds one to short. Makes a sliding stop to first, but he beats it out. And the leadoff man is on with an infield single. Boom. That’s staying within his game right there. I mean, this speedster gets the infield single and now he’s on base to possibly do some damage. I love seeing what guys like this can do to disrupt the game once they get in a position to do so. So, now it’s Cory Seager. Another solid power season that drops in for a strike. step off. Throw to first and he’s back in there. Strike two. That pitch started in and ended up on the outside edge. just changing planes and very difficult especially for a left-handed hitter to track this one in the dirt. One, two, a one, two. Slider misses outside. Hagerty gets his lead at first. Nobody out. Full count. fouls that off to the left and will do it again. 3-2 on the way. Cracks his bat and pops him up. Corrals it and there’s one down. And now we take a look at the Rangers lineup. They do a lot of things well in this offense, Singi. They control the strike zone. They make pitchers work hard for outs. And as a result, one of the better OBP teams in the league. Well, what I love about it is it’s an organizational philosophy. Whether you go to instructional league, whether you go to spring training, you see these players even during batting practice when it doesn’t matter. They’re practicing that type of approach. Boo. And when you have that filtering through the organization, even when you call off a player, they step right in and continue with the pattern that they have established at this level, which ultimately leads to a lot of success. And a foul ball. You know, you translate on base percentage, it’s basically this. Teams that have a high on base percentage, they don’t make outs at a very high rate. As my buddy Joe Sheen says, OBP is life. Man, at first one away. bows it off. Still one and two. And that one missing inside. A sharp slider. Definitely a swing and miss slider down and in. He finished that really well. Just couldn’t get him to offer at it. Now one miss in the air right field. Taylor on the move. Nice grab on the run. Two lay down. Back in fourth. Right fielder Adoris Garcia. Now it’s the right fielder Adoleis Garcia. That’s out to center field. Adele makes the play and that is that. One left for Texas and now the Angels will get their first opportunity in this one. No score. It’s Major League Baseball and it’s on the show back in Anaheim and getting the start. Nathan Evaldi having a pretty ridiculous season so far. Singy. Yeah, you see there with the sub two erra. Very dependable guy and he’s been pretty much lights out so far this season. So, you know, when a guy like this takes the mound, I’m expecting to watch him get into a rhythm quickly and just move through a ball game. Sometimes you can see some big strikeouts. Other times it’s hard to even know he’s there because the innings go so quickly. Rolled softly, but that goes foul. Next pitch is outside. just missed. Two-1. Yeah, that’s fouled off. swings and misses. One down. First strike out for him in this one. That splitter is maybe the go-to pitch when he’s looking for a swing and miss like that. He throws it quite a bit and that’s a good example of the effect it can have on a hitter. Here’s Trout. And that is out of play. One out. Base is empty. And that’s in for a strike. And it’s 0 and two. That split is a pretty nasty pitch. Explodes out of the hand. Looks like a fast ball and the bottom just falls out of it. Strike three. And that’s two in a row. Thought it was a pretty good pitch. Top of the strike zone. We’re seeing more fast balls in that location. Hitters, especially with two strikes, have to be ready to pull the trigger. Now at the plate, Nolan Showell. Pitch misses there. Ball one. That one pushed foul out of play off to the left. Looks really sharp at the start of this one. This is how it’s going to be today. It’s going to be a tough one for this lineup. cut on and lifted in the air. Garcia puts it away. And that is that. We played an inning, no score. And welcome back to the ballpark. Second inning, set to go. Here’s Josh Young. Deetmers back to work. Gets the slider in there for a strike. Man, this guy’s got a great feel for his breakthrough ball today. That one misses and the count even one and one. Joe McDonald doing the home play duties here. Well, Joe’s an interesting one. I’m always trying to figure out what exactly his zone is. Feels like it kind of moves around from game to game, sometimes inning to inning. That one way inside. Right. Two count and a foul ball. He stays alive. in the air right field. Pretty well struck. That’s bat onto the track and he makes the catch. Battiel Wyatt Langford. Wyatt Langford digs in now. just missed. Oh, that missed. That’s a ball. Swag a popup. Foul out of play off to the right side. That’ll find the stands. One down. Base is empty. Swung on. Belted. That one’s deep. Leaping and it’s gone. A solo shot. It’s one- nothing. took on the big part of the yard for that home run and just barely got it over the wall. I thought for a second he brought it back out there, too. He gave it a great effort, but you know, those plays are so tough to pull off and I’m sure he’d love to have another shot at it. Base is empty, one away. Next to hit, Jonah. outside low and that’s ball one. One and0. One out. Base is empty and a run in here in the top of the second. And another ball. Demer maybe a little less aggressive on the mound right now after that home run, Chris. Yeah, it seems that way. You know, guys, they can come out, feel good, but then all of a sudden get touched up a little bit and they start trying to throw instead of pitch. They’re not trusting their stuff. Well, he’s been good for the most part. Is it going to take someone going out to the mound to maybe refocus him a bit? No, partner. Every pitcher is a little different. I I liken it to you. Sometimes you come in and you’re not as focused and I kind of do what it takes to get you on track and then you have a great show. Uh so perhaps it’s the same with him. Nobody really wants their rhythm broken up, but sometimes they need a little pickme up. Ball four tried another curve but couldn’t locate it. Batting eight, first baseman Josh Smith. Runner on at first with one gone. Josh Smith stepping in for the Rangers. First pitch misses. Knee high. That’s in for a strike. Him leads off first with one away. Swing and a miss. Going to really need to hang in there and work that front side against this left-handed breaking ball. Hit on the ground to short and that’s a base hit. They get it in quickly. So, first and second down now, one out. Good two strike hitting right there, Boo. A bit of a lost start for some. So, that was nicely done to beat the odds. Just a simple ground ball the other way that had eyes on it, man. Sometimes that’s all you need to do. Just let the ball travel, put the ball in play, and just hope it finds a hole. Two on, one out. Up next for the Rangers, Michael Helman. That’s towards center. Adele moves under it. Out number two. Now batting the designated hitter Sam Hagerty. So the batting order turns over. Next is the designated hitter Sam Hagerty. Reached on an infield single his first time. Just missed. swings through that one for strike one. One and one. Top of the zone and it’s called a strike. One ball, two strike. First and second, two down. Swings over the top of that one. Throw to first that completes the strikeout. Inning over, but they’re off to a good start as they pick up a run on this solo shot. It’s now a one- nothing ball game. Major League Baseball is on the show. Bottom of the second and now it’s the Angels cleanup battle. Taylor Ward Chris has been a good year for him having already set a new careerh high for RBI’s in a season. Let’s go. Come on. Let’s go. Let’s go. Right down to shoot. And that’s strike one. Goodness. I think he just took the best pitch he’s going to see in this at bat. You don’t get many like that in that location. And I don’t know if you take that pitch against any pitcher out there on the mound. And now the count is even. One and one. Swinging a miss. That one in the dirt. Gets to it onto first. Gets him one away on a drop. Third strike. That slider wasn’t even close to the strike zone and he got him the chase. That’s just a bad approach right there. Either he was looking for something else and got completely fooled or he was sitting all over the slider and just couldn’t resist the temptation. But man, really expanded right there and didn’t have a chance of making contact with that pitch. Here’s Joe Adele. Fouled off. He was late. next pitch misses way outside. 02 pitch that far out of the zone gives the hitter a little confidence that maybe he can climb back into this at bat. Next offering way upstairs. Got him looking. Make it four strikeouts for him on the bump today. Well, he’s really dialed in and this offense is going to have to do something to try to break that rhythm. Maybe it’s square around the bunt, step out of the box, agitate him a little bit, do something that just changes what’s happening right now because at this pace, it’s going to be a long game. So, you got to figure it out quickly. Here is Yoan Monata. And the first pitch misses for ball one. Mona batting sixth in today’s lineup and he was born in Cuba. There’s the strike. Two out. Base is empty. The 1-1 is fouled off. That one side. Look out. Knocks that one away. And we’ll do it again. spoils that one and it remains two and two. That wasn’t an easy pitch to hit. It’s much easier to do damage against mistakes, but that’s not what that pitch was. Foul ball. Another 2-2 upcoming. Two down. Doon. Still two and two after the foul ball. I wouldn’t throw him another breaking ball. Try to go again with the fast ball. Slightly elevated. He just having a hard time catching up. Backed off the plate that time. Wow. This guy’s really battling up there as if his run is the game-winning run. I love his tenacity. Foul ball and it remains a full count. In an era with a lot of swing and miss and strikeouts, you got to love an at bat like this. No one giving in. Struck him out without a swing and he strikes out the side here in the second. Impeccable command in that one. Three batters, three strikeouts. That’s electric stuff out there on the mound. Onto the third inning. Now it’s Cory Seager. Not only can he hit the cover off the ball, he’s got a great eye as well. popped up foul territory behind the play. Catcher tosses the mask, settles under it, has room, and he makes the catch. Got the pitch that he wanted. Just a little bit quick. Front shoulder open. Backside collapsed a little bit and the launch angle not where he needed it to be. Here is Marcus Simeon. He’s 0 for one. Now, Marcus, a career-high 45 homers in 2021 with the Blue Jays. He parlayed that into a seven-year free agent deal with the Rangers. Next one in the dirt. The 1-1 is fouled off. Got him looking. That’s a strike out. That’s not the best two strike fast ball I’ve seen, but certainly got away with the location there. You know, sometimes as a hitter when you’re down in the count, you’re so focused on a pitcher painting the black and you just get a little bit locked up on something down the heart of the plate, not expecting it, and it just kind of freezes you. Garcia in the box now as he looks at ball one. Second plate appearance of the day for him. And that’s off the inside edge. And now two and 0. No, that missed. That’s a ball. Good spot there, but didn’t get the strike at the knees and doesn’t seem too convinced by the call out there on the mound as he tries to get a better sense of the umpire strike zone. to third. Monata whips it to first and it’s a one, two, three inning. Nothing across here this half. We head now to the home half of inning number three. It’s the Rangers one and the Angels nothing. Ready to go for the last half of the inning. Here’s the Angels catcher Logan Ohapp. Oh, hopp off the plate inside. One and0. Breaking ball misses down and away. Two count. You really don’t want to give in here. You got to work the edges. Really execute a pitch. Hopefully you can get back into this count. Inside just missed. He’s great hitting the ball the other way and that pitch did a good job to straighten him up a bit. Mission accomplished. That’s a strike across the top of the zone. Taken all the way on three 0 right there. And as a hitter, you’re saying, “Why couldn’t I get that pitch earlier in the count when I’m looking to swing?” And that one fouled off swinging a highf fly ball out there towards left field. Seager and he makes the catch. One away. Batting eight right fielder Chris. Here comes Chris Taylor. Come on, Chris. Right through there for a strike. That big curve inside a pitch that can buckle you a little bit. Looks like a fast ball out of the hand and then just drops over that inside part of the plate. And a curve misses outside. Clearly didn’t come out of his hand the right way. Left that curve ball way up. The one-1 is fouled off. That misses the zone. Two balls, two strikes to count. Well, he might have to look for a different putaway pitch right here. 22. He’s already seen the curveball a couple of times in this at bat, so might have it timed up and ready for it. And it remains two and two. Count. Still just the second batter of the inning. And on the mound, he’s already thrown 13 pitches. They got him working hard out there. One down, base is empty. Foul. We’ll see another payoff pitch. battling here as he fouls it away. About to see the 11th pitch of the at here. Fouled off again and it remains three and two. Good job to fight that one off. Five foul balls in a row. I have no idea what that feels like, but you got to love this battle. Just wondering who’s going to blink first. Fights it off. He’ll see another healthy cut. Tough pitch at 98, but a really good pass at the ball. Cut on and miss. Struck him out. He battled for a long time, but it finishes with a strike out. You can’t be mad at yourself after an at bat like that one. That’s tough. You see it well. I mean, that was clearly up and out of the strike zone. But that’s one of the hardest things. And when you see a pitch out of the hand at eye level, that discipline to remember I can’t hit that pitch. If I can see it really well at eye level, I can’t catch up to that pitch when a pitcher’s got this kind of velocity. And now Luis Rangifo, two outs. that to right. Garcia makes the grab. That is the inning. Start of the fourth. Now the third baseman Josh Young. Josh Young. Foul ball there. Well, these Rangers doing a great job, Boo, of just waiting for the right pitch to come their way. And I’m seeing very patient at bats out of him. He’s only giving up one run, but the starter pitch count is starting to get up there. And that might be the best news yet for this offense. fought off foul. You know, sometimes all it takes is getting to the next arm before an offense does any damage. And that might be the case today. Way high there. And it’s two and two. Fouled off and they’ll do it again. Upstairs. That one misses. So lead off. Man, that’s a tough one to take on the full count, but I guess he saw it really well. It’s a really nice plate appearance. Manager out of the dugout now. And it looks like we’ll see a change on the mound. Reed Deetmers done for the night and that’s an excellent job from the reliever in the starting role today. Gave him some length. back with a new arm after this. So, the Angels turn to their bullpen for a new pitcher, Jose Soraniano. Just trying to keep this one close here. And this is where a bullpen can give their players a chance to fight back into the game. Wyatt Langford stepping in for the Rangers. He’s already homered in this game. Here we go. Not even close there. And it’s one and0. Yeah, let’s win. And that gets the top of the zone for a strike. Worm burner into the outfield for a knock. Throw back in quickly. First and second now with nobody out. Now batting catcher Jonah. So next to hit for Texas. Jonah worked a walk in his first trip to the plate. Swing and a highf fly ball out towards right center field. squeezes it. Runner tags at second. He makes it to third. Good base running to move up with only one out. Good read there. Second base to move up to third. Now it’s a lot easier to get that run in with one away. Josh Smith will hit next. One for one with a single so far. And the first offering is not close. In this situation, the batter’s got to know what the pitcher is trying to do to him, and that’s trying to get him to hit the ball on the ground, get two for one. You got to look for something up in the zone, and worst case scenario, you deliver the sacrifice fly. Runner on the move. Bounding ball here. Rolls foul. to third. Might be two. Ranifo for one. And that’s two. One hit, one left to the bottom of inning number four. Now it’s the Rangers one and the Angels nothing back here at Angel Stadium. Now, here is Zack Neto. Zack Neto. And that misses and that is ball one. You know, these Angels just lacking discipline at the plate in this ball game. So many of their outs have come from weak contact on pitches. They’re chasing outside of the strike zone. You can’t do much of anything with those locations. And that’s been true again today. And as a pitcher, when the hitters are swinging at everything, you feel no need to challenge inside the zone. You just keep working the corners and expanding that strike zone and beyond. And they just keep eating right out of your hand. Fights that one away. Still one and two. misses just off the outside edge. I think that was a strike. Caught a break right there. Pretty good pitch on the outside corner. Swinging a bouncer towards third. Young tosses to first. One out in the bottom of the fourth. Now batting the designated hitter, Mike Trout. Here’s Mike Trout. struck out swinging his first time. Just missed. Nowadays, with advanced metrics and increased use of moving the infielders around, defense isn’t necessarily about making errors. Are you able to get to the ball? Are you able to position fielders where hitters hit the ball but within the new shift rules? And an area that goes unnoticed is the coach that’s responsible for positioning and then uh the research person that’s providing the information. So what we’re seeing in baseball, so many more people behind the scenes that are contributing to the success between the lines. Now batting first baseman. And here’s the first baseman, Nolan Shadow. Show. Back when you played, it wasn’t the empirical data we have now. It was a guy with a ruler and a diamond taking a colored pencil and drawing a line where he thought someone had hit the ball. Right. That or just going off of gut or feel. What does it look like his swing is today? What’s the pitcher throwing? They are sticking to the metrics and what seems to be most consistent for that hit. Garcia makes the catch and that’ll do it. So 12 up, 12 down to begin the ball game. It’s the Rangers one and the Angels nothing. And we’re back. Top five, John Shabi with Chris Singleton. And leading it off, Michael Helman. Come on, Angel. Soraniano back to work and that drops in for a strike. Action in the Angels bullpen. Connor Brogden getting loose out there. Kihara getting cranked up as well. and he’ll one. That’s a ball. That one in there across the letters. swings and misses. Went back to the slur and it was the right choice. He’s locked in at the break when he’s using the whole field. He was out in front there. Just needs to let the ball travel a little more and his timing will be back on track. Good pitch for the strike out. So now here’s the DH. Sam Hagerty one for two in there and it’s 0 and one. Hagerty goes 5′ 11 in. 30 years old now. And though usually in left field, today he’s the designated hitter. Let’s go. One down. Base is empty. Some guys don’t like not being able to play defense because it helps him to stay in the rhythm. So for him to be the DH, we’ll see if he gets a routine together. The one-1 is fouled off. Almost got him. Headed towards the corner. Fair ball now around second. Going for third. Not in time. He’s safe. He quickly went from hitter to base runner. Love when guys make that transition. And he’s got speed to put on a show. One down, runner at third. Next up for Texas, Cory Seager. Both for two in this one. Out of the corner for a strike. It’s 0 and one. That one way inside swing and a ground ball base hit right field. Runner from third comes across and it’s an RBI single. It’s two nothing. Well done. Drives in the run. He kind of rolled over on this pitch a little bit, but he got enough behind it to shoot it through for a knock. And you’ll take that anytime you can get him to find a hole. One down. Up next for the Rangers, Marcus Simeon. Inside ball one. Seager stands at first with one out. And another ball. He’s getting a little frustrated out there on the mound. Getting hit around a little bit. Let’s see if he can settle himself down. Pitch is in there. Two and one now. outside with a breaking ball the other way and foul ball. Got him. And now you’re gone. Yeah, that’s a tough pitch to stay on. You don’t want to get beat inside. And as you see that pitch continue to run away from you, by the time it’s in the catcher’s mid, you think it’s a ball off the plate away instep. Sadly Garcia, also known as El Bombi. First pitch doesn’t find the zone. 10. One run across in the frame so far. We’re in the top of the fifth. And that one is in for a strike. Good pitch. Next offering is fouled back. Two and two in the dirt. Two outs. Swang and a miss. Struck him out at a splitter. So, one run in the inning on this base hit and it’s two zip. You’re watching Major League Baseball on the show. Back in Anaheim, bottom of the inning. Now the left fielder, Taylor W. Well, these fans definitely want to get involved in the game. All it’s going to take is to get the lead off man or even a base runner on that one. Fouled off. You know, these Angels showing great discipline at the plate and patience definitely seems to be the name of their game in this one. Starter’s leash has to be getting tighter with his pitch count where it is, but so far he’s been really effective in this one. He’s there. He’s got it. And a quick out number one. You know, sometimes it just takes getting to the bullpen in order to be able to score runs. And that might be the case today. Joe Adell now at the plate. Caught looking his first time up. Oh, I think the key I mean if he can get through one more inning, anything after that, a hitter or two is bonus, but they should be lined up good enough to get to the finish line. And that one lifted in the air center field. Helman makes the grab and there’s two away. Now batting third base and now Yan Mona. He was a strikeout victim his first time. Top of the zone for a called strike. He’s pitching well but not throwing a ton of first pitch strikes usually doesn’t work out for success but you can never predict baseball. Check swing. He went too far and it’s a strike. This offense has just been locked down. Almost five full innings of shutout baseball. Two down, nobody on. Last half of inning number five. Off the mark there. Now one and two. And it’s fouled off. They’ll do it again. Pitch misses. And that’s ball two. And there’s a ball. Full count. And that one in the air center field and that will end the inning. And welcome back to the ballpark. Now it’s going to be Josh Young. And first offering is fouled off. And there’s a strike. Good heater at 98 to the right side. One up, one down. Good sinker low in the zone right there and produced exactly what he was looking for. Ball on the ground. Nice ground out. Get out of here. At 96, that pitch is in for a strike. There’s the strike. Well, he didn’t like those first two pitches. Now in an 02 hole. He’s going to have to battle. Hope he gets a mistake. That one got close. And it’s one and two. That one missed. Base is empty, one away. And we’re the top half of the sixth on the ground right side dives and he can’t hang on. Safe at first as they can’t make the play. Clearly seeing the ball very well in this one. Really protected with two strikes right there. Pitch wasn’t even close, but man, he got the barrel to it somehow. Nice job of bad ball hitting. And now they’ve got some speed on first. There goes the runner. Pitch outside. Throw there. Safe. Chris, his wheels were the difference maker on that play. Just got in there. Yeah, with Statcast’s help, we see his top speed on this stolen base. And that’s a big number. I mean, man, he really made his athleticism work for him on that one. And there’s a foul ball. Langford, the runner at second with one away. Let’s go. Ball. That’s down. Moved to second and he’s back in on a down. Ground ball right side and that goes foul. Runner at second here. One gone. That’s the third and that’s a fair ball headed for the plate now. A long throw home. It’s off the mark and he scores and they’re up by three. Got to love the resiliency showed in that bat battling with two strikes. Just found a way to slap that ball down the third baseline. That’s really excellent bat control and it kind of goes back to all those drills you see hitters do off the tee where it’s placed in different spots. That was just nice. man at first with one gone. And now the first baseman, Josh Smith. And the pitch a little bit low. Ball one. That’s a bullet, but it goes foul and a pitch. That one to first. He gets there with the slide. There’s one to first. Not in time. Great effort there, Doug. As an infielder, you have to be ready for anything. In that spot, it required going to the ground, getting a little dirty, and making a strong throw for the out. Great play. So, digging in, Michael Helman. And that one way outside. Ball one. And there’s a breaking ball that drops in there on the ground to third. They get the force and that is that. But they pick up one run on the RBI single. It’s now three nothing. Bottom of the sixth inning. So in now for the Angels. Logan Oh. Logan O’H. And that’s off the outside edge. One and0. The 1-1 is fouled off. That’s down in now in this three ball count down in the ball game. You’ve got to be very selective. Take your walk if they’ll give it to you. In danger of losing the perfect game here. Foul ball and it remains a full count. Flew open a little bit with that front shoulder but was able to slow his bat down just enough to make contact with that pitch. Keep the at bat alive. And a swing and a miss. Beat him with a fast ball. Well, he’s showing some pretty dominating stuff out there in this one. Not just in terms of swing and miss, but also in terms of command. All the strikeouts, they just kind of speak for themselves. But when you don’t walk anyone, you’re demonstrating that you have the confidence in your abilities to truly go right after opposing batters. Taylor batting for the second time. And that’s strike one. Breaking ball through there for a strike. Going to count one and two. Pretty standard high 02 fast right there. If you’re smart, you’ll look for something down in the zone, but not too far. Don’t want to chase that breaking ball in the dirt. Swing and a miss at the splitter and it’s a strike out. Bill, that splitter out of the hand, it just sort of jumps on you. And your interpretation is here comes a fast again. Well, it never really reaches because the bottom falls out of it and you swing over the top. And that’s why they call it a split finger fast ball because it looks like a four seamer. And first offering is fouled off. The Angels hitless so far in the game. Next offering is fouled back. 0 and two now fans another and that’s three straight strikeouts. Angels held in check. They trail it here three nothing. Now pitching for the new pitcher in the game for the Angels Conor Brock. He’s having a ton of success facing left-handed hitters this season. So, this seems like a smart move to turn to him with a lefty at the blade. Sam Hagerty stepping in for the Rangers. A change up missing and it’s one and0. High in the air out to right. Taylor gets under it, reaching for it and brings it in. Got to love the over the shoulder catch. I tell you what, those are really fun to make. And here’s Cory Seager to hit. First pitch. Not close action in the pen down there. Sam Bachmann preparing to come on if needed. Come on. See checks his swing. Appeal down to third and he held up. Let’s go. One down, base is empty. Inside corner, that’s a strike. And it’s two and one and downstairs. Down ball up the middle. Needto fires over to first and Seager is set down. Now batting second base Marcus Simeon. And now Marcus Simeon 0 for three with two strikeouts and a fly out. Little bit low and that’s ball one. And that clips the inside corner out towards left center. Brings it in for the third out. Shut it down. Bottom of the seventh. Now it’s the Angels leadoff man, Zack Neto. The Halos in striking distance, but have some work to do. Boo. It starts with the laidoff man. I need a good at bat out of him right here. Swinging a foul back. That’s out of play. Swang and a ball lifted in the air. Garcia makes the catch and there’s one away. Now batting the designated hitter, Mike. And now the designated hitter for the Angels, Mike Trout. Great speed and great power. A great athlete. Quite simply, when you have a real athletic player and who’s able to do the baseball mechanical things really well, look out because the sky’s is the limit on that potential. The Angels trailing by three here in the bottom of the seventh. The next offering misses and it’s two and one swing and a miss. And it really looks like these hitters have been in between with their timing today. Good fast ball, excellent slider, but they’ve not been able to commit to one velocity and stay there. Fouls it back with two strikes. Spoils that one and it remains two and two. Now just about to hit that century mark. 100 pitches for this game. Stays alive. spoils a two- strike pitch and he’ll see another swing and a miss. Struck him out. That’s about as nasty of a splitter as you’ll come across, especially in terms of movement. I mean, that thing tumbles out of his hand and just drops off the table at the last moment. He keeps it down. It’s just so tough to put wood on. So, two down now and here is Nolan Shanuel lifted in the air down the left side. Langford drops into the glove and that’ll do it. The perfection continues. 21 straight have been retired. It’s the Rangers three and the Angels nothing. And we’re back. Here is Adole Garcia. Adole Garcia. Brogden back to work. And that’s a little bit high. That’s ball one. Brogden, a 66 righty. He features a change up, a fourseamer, and occasionally uses a cutter and a swing and a miss. Talk about tying a guy up. That was ugly. Here’s the swing and a line drive and a base hit to right field. And the leadoff man aboard now batting. Anytime you rip a line drive the other way, you feel really good about what you did at the plate. You trusted your hands. You let the ball travel and you took the barrel straight to it. That’s great work right there. And now Josh Young throw save. runner in scoring position. Nobody out. And we’re in the top of the eighth. And that’s a little bit high. One and one. Come on, Los Angeles. Hard grounder into the outfield for a knock. Stop sign goes up at third. Runners at the corners. Nobody out. Well, a swing like that can help you come out of the struggle. We saw the numbers coming into the ball game, but all he’s trying to do at this point is help his team win. So, runners of the corners, nobody out. Here’s the left fielder, Wyatt Langford. Three for three. Two singles and a homer outside with a breaking ball. Angels. All right, Angels. Next offering is fouled back. No outs. Runners at first and third. That’s inside. And that’s ball two. Good spot for the hitter. Definitely has the advantage in this count with runners on. Look for him to be aggressive on this next pitch. That one fouled off. Two and two. That’s inside. Recognized that change up right out of the hand. Just spit on it. Runners on the corners. No outs. Swanging a ground ball, but that rolls foul. And they’re all loaded up. Well, the stage has been set for this offense. Boo. It’s all about creating opportunities, and this is one of them right here. Base is loaded, nobody out. time getting ready to hit. We just might be talking about this at bat in our postgame wrap. He’s proven he can drive in runs in these spots and fouled off. So, they’re all loaded up. They need a strike out and you need a ball perhaps on the ground for a double play or get yourself a popup, something, but you got to make some pitches. But if he can battle and get through this, he can earn some points. 0 and two now. And that one upstairs and a foul ball. He stays alive. battling here as he fouls it away. He’s gone off speed. He needs to elevate here with two strikes out of the zone. Lifted in the air right field. Taylor on the move. He’s got it. Runners tagging from second and third. He’ll score on the sack fly and they’re up by four. Well, these players understand how important each run is, especially as you get closer to the end of the ball game. Nice job right there to get that runner in from third and add a little insurance. Manager out of the dugout and he’s going to make a change. Connor Brogden won’t go any further tonight. And the line not closed on him yet as he’s responsible for the runners on base. Back with a new pitcher after this. Now pitching for a new pitcher in the game, Sam Bachman. Sam Bachmann. Josh Smith stepping in for the Rangers. One for three. That one finds the zone. That’s strike one. Really good job in this spot to get ahead in the count. He’s going to have to continue finish off this hitter. Double play ball to second. Can’t glove it cleanly. Still manages a throw and they get the out. Good recovery. Wasn’t easy following the misplay. Fastball grew right down the middle. Usually a lot of damage done with that pitch. a hard grounder, but he wanted to get that ball in the air. Maybe drive it into the gap. Foul ball. Power relievers one after another coming out of the bullpen these days. Got to be ready for that first pitch heater. That’s off the inside corner. It’s a ball in two strikes. Gets a piece and stays alive. Two outs and one in scoring position. swing and a miss. Struck him out. That ends the inning and stops things from getting out of hand. They put two on the board with a couple of hits, no errors, and one left. Last half of the eighth coming up, it’s the Rangers five and the Angels nothing. Back now, new pitcher on the mound as we roll into the bottom of the eighth, Jacob Deg Gro. He last pitched two days ago. Number 48, Jacob Deg Gro. Taylor Ward digs in now. And this lineup is still hitless as we begin the eighth. And that’s in there at the knees. Doublebarreled action in the bullpen. Shawn Armstrong up and loosening in the pen. Win a hard throwing right-hander up as well. Next offering is in for a strike. Quickly into an 02 count. Both pitches were down in the zone. I think you set your sights a little bit higher because you’ll have a tendency to chase if you look down in that area. Foul ball. It stays nothing and two. Knocks that one away and will do it again. Man, he’d like to have that pitch back. And that’s in the dirt. Well, that’s kind of what you expect in an 02 count. Excellent job of the hitter to have the plate disciplined to lay off of that pitch. Yeah, the one two misses to even the count. Swinging a ball hit out towards left center field. Pauls it in and there’s one away. And he’s now just five outs away. He’s got a real shot at this thing. Yeah, he is rolling just in one of those grooves where he looks pretty unbeatable today. He swings and fouls one off. One down, base is empty, and a fast ball misses outside for a ball. And the count is one and one. They tried to get him to chase on a slider down and away. misses inside. Full countdown. Boo. He never moved cuz he never had time to. But that kind of velocity, you’d prefer that pitcher work away. Good job to fight that one off. In danger of losing the no hitter here. That one down the line and it goes just foul. Foul. We’ll see another payoff pitch. The Halos still looking for their first hit in this one. Good played appearance there. Able to take the walk. It wasn’t easy, but he earned that walk after a long at bat. Boo. If I were him, I’d be nibbling around the plate as well. I mean, this guy’s just capable of hitting pitches outside of his zone and driving them a long way. Let’s keep it going. Mona up for the third time here. Watches that one miss. And now two nothing. He Adele the runner at first with one gone in the inning. Next offering in there for a strike. Two and two. No need to offer it that pitch until you get to two strikes. It’s just a low percentage of success when you want to try to go after that down and away pitch. And there’s the ball. That was absolute gas. Triple digits on the gun. It’s just a different experience as a hitter watching that go by. And they’ll do it again. In danger of losing the combined no hitter. Fights it off. He’ll see another and ball four to a board. Oh, very close with the location right there. It’s just tough to get rewarded on the call with pitches near the top of the strike zone. Logan Logan Oh, the next to hit for the Angels. His split numbers between June and July there. And that’s off the inside edge. Ball one. Swinging a ground ball up the middle and it gets through for a hit. Their first of the ball game. runner from second crosses the plate. It’s 5-1. So, they finally get their first hit in this one. And that puts an end to the combined no hitter bid. Yeah. And that combined no doesn’t have the same prestige as a solo one. But you have to give credit to these pitchers for coming in putting on a great performance so far, but now all attention goes towards getting a W in this ball game. Runners at the corners here. One away. And next for the Angels, Chris Taylor in the dirt, but no advance from the runners. Two on, one out. Well, we call that keyhole. Even though it’s right there and looks pretty good, if he doesn’t love it, he’s not going to swing that early in the count. just off the inside edge. Runners are at the corners. One away. Off the mark there. Three and one. The only adjustment he needs to make is his target. If you aim at the outside corner, that slider’s going to end up way off the plate. Perhaps look a little more down the middle and you get it right where you want it to the left side but it is well fouled. Fouled off again and it remains three and two. Fouled off and they’ll do it again. Pretty good pitch there to take a rip at. He wants to get his arms extended. He likes the ball away from him a little bit. Just not able to square it up. Swing and a miss and he is down on strikes for the third straight at bat. Just indecisive in that at bat. He couldn’t commit to the slider. Tried to sit in between. Just not able to put the bat on the ball. Luis Renifo gets a chance to hit here. Swing and a foul out of play. Two on, two outs, and a breaking ball drops in for a strike. It’s amazing to look up and see 88 miles per hour on that change up. Back in the day, that was a pretty good fast ball, but with high velocities these days, that speed differential is right where it needs to be. Swing and a ball lifted in the air. Shallow right field. That’s a base hit as a run scores. Well done. Narrows the deficit with the RBI there. You know what they say, he couldn’t have thrown it out there any better than that. And certainly the case that time. Just flared it back behind the second baseman and dropped it in there. Now, a huge bat in this game coming up. And the Rangers manager making his way towards the mound now as he will make the move. That’ll be it for Jacob Deg Grom. It’s a three-run game and we’ll be back to tell you about the new arm in a minute. So they bring on their closer in the eighth, Robert Garcia. And he’s been racking up strikeouts at a high rate this year. Typically at least one in innings, so he’ll be tough to get to. And next for LA, Zack Neto 0 for three. A fly out, a ground out, and a strikeout. First pitch, and he just misses. There’s a strike way inside. gets out of the way with the tying run at the plate here. The bottom half of the eighth inning. That one hit the knees for a strike. Getting a little frustrated with the strike zone. That one the other way. Smith takes it to the bag. Inning over. And it could have been worse. They put two on the board on two base hits. No errors, but two are left stranded through eight full. It’s the Rangers five and the Angels two. We go to the ninth and now it’s the Rangers leadoff hitter Sam Hagerty. First pitch misses. Movement in the bullpen. A right-hander is up and throwing. And that finds the mark on the outside corner. And it’s one and one. And he grounds one back up the middle. Slings to first. Now one gone in the ninth. We talk about how the ball is coming out of a pitcher’s hand. The way it comes out of his hand as an infielder. Wow. Really impressive. Cory Seager stepping in for the Rangers. Yeah, the pitch is in for a strike. Then one and one. Base is empty. One away here at the top of the ninth. Looked like it was a little bit up. Swinging and a miss. One and two. Man, that was pretty gross right there. Gets a piece there. We’ll do it again. foul ball left side. He’ll see another the one two. So Pete Bear at 98 m an hour. Well, that’s always the key to effective pitching is getting ahead in the count. And as a pitcher, it really allows you to start expanding the zone. Hitters become defensive and all of a sudden that plate starts to get really wide. And what happens is because of the pressure, you end up committing to a pitch as a batter before you recognize what it is. And that’s what leads to the strikeout. Next offering is foul battle. Throwing the ball well. And they need this scoreless inning in relief right here. Been doing a good job keeping them in striking distance. Swing and a miss. Struck him out and he’s registered three Ks in this one. And the Rangers set down in order. And it remains 52. Bottom nine. And here is Mike Trout. Designated hitter Mike Trout. Swang and a miss and it’s 0 and one. 01. Hit in the air. Right field. Garcia heads after it. And there’s one down. Now batting first baseman. No. He’s two outs away. Shadowwell will hit next. 0 for three in this one. And a first pitch fast ball is in for a strike. The Angels trailing by three here. The last half of inning number nine. That one pushed foul. Got him swinging. Angels with only one out left. So, the bullpen doing a nice job backing up the effort from their starter. Yeah, we’ve seen some pretty excellent pitching out of this staff so far. I mean, they’ve come in ready to do their job and get outs. They’ve been pretty tough to get to in this one. And that one fouled off. And that’s in there for a strike. And quickly nothing at two. 0 and two. Garcia is just one strike away. And that one got a piece of him. He had two strikes on him and he hit him. Angels down to their final lap. Joe Adele now at the plate. Strike on the inside corner. 0 and one. Swing and a highf fly ball. Pulled foul and that’s out of play. Two outs. lifted to left and that should do it. And that’ll do it. When you win five in a row, the confidence just goes to another level and you start to gain this momentum and you think that you’re never going to lose a game again because things are clicking up and down the lineup. Pitchers are pitching. The team is making the plays defensively. This is the kind of feeling. It’s not going to last all season long, but you want to ride it as long as you possibly can. Perhaps push it up to double digits. And your final score 52 for Chris Singleton and our entire outstanding crew here at MLB the show. I’m John Shambi saying
