Pirates vs. Giants Game Highlights (7/29/25) | MLB Highlights

Justin Verlander the 6’5 in 240 lb 42y old in his 20th year at the big league level 18th start of the year he’s won a name with a 470 erra lifetime against the Pirates Verlander 5-2 with a 351 erra on the ground and it’s divers and that’s how this game gets started top spin liner well over 100 miles per hour And Devers makes it look like an easy play. There was nothing easy about that play. Swing and a miss. He struck it out and he powered the high fast ball right by him. Right out over the plate. That was a challenge up above the belt a little bit and a swing at a popup. Third baseman Chapman into shallow left right along the line. Makes the catch. Three up, three down inning. Bailey Falter that erra under four. Opponent average 235. Two relief appearances against the Giants. Both of them here both as a member of the Phillies. Her ball never broke and it rode up high for ball four. And that’s not desirable for Bailey Falter. Strike three called. Nothing fancy. Here you go. Hit it if he can. Doesn’t even get a swing off. Runner goes. Pitch taken high. Bart throws to second on a hop. The slide safe. Another walk. Two this inning. Two on now for Matt Chapman. This one in the air in the infield. And this will not be easy, but the infield fly is called so it doesn’t matter. Well, now Hayes could get the runner at second and they will. The Giants a base running blunder as Hayes let the ball drop and the Giants run into a double play that gets Falter out of the jam. Nothing. Nothing. Second inning. 3-2 pitch. Swing and a miss. He struck him out with a slider. Broke it off beautifully. Two down. It’s another ball hard drops into center field. Tommy Fam has a nineame hitting streak. I mean, he is just absolutely locked in. Going to go. The ball is grounded a short over to his right. Fielded there by Adamos. He winds up, fires to first in time to get Hayes and end the inning. Now he takes inside ball four. So Verlander walks him to start the inning. Called strike three. Little slider and Pagarero, I don’t know what he was looking for. That one was almost like a backup slider. So maybe he thought it was just going to stay inside. Swinging a line drive up the middle. Base hit. hung on that slider and sent it back up the box. Bucks on the pond. Two outs for Brian Reynolds coming up. Checks his swing and he went around. Strike three. Couple strikeouts again for Verlander in the third. A threat but no runs. Patrick Bailey who was two out of four last night. Eighth in the order. Now it’s a leadoff walk. It’s the third walk for Bailey Falter. Well, that’s been your Giants offense so far. I’m not saying that’s a good thing, but they now’ve got a runner in scoring position for the second time in this game. Falter has created an opportunity for free and a rally for free. Ground ball on towards second to short. There’s one relay two. A double play. They get Devers by a step and that ends the inning. The 14th ground ball double play turned by Bailey Falter. He’s walked for and given up no hits. Here comes Tommy Fam who’s singled in the second and another hit for Fam. And this one’s headed toward the wall. It splits Lee and Ramos. And Tommy Fam just blistering hot. A double with two outs in the fourth. Hit to right. Angling back. Moss near the corner. He’ll make the catch along the foul line and Hayes is retired. Pirates do not score. A two out double but no runs. Four walks, no hits allowed by Falter. Willie Adamus will lead it off. Adamus hits one well and high indeed. And Adamus hits it out of here. And the Giants are on the board. That’s their first hit of the game. Stay hot, Mr. Davis, home run number 16. Worked another deep count. Got a pitch. He could drive. Lines one down the left field line. That’s a base hit and it’s headed to the corner. That’s good to see. He pulled it and he hit it hard into second. He’ll stop there. Tommy Fam goes and retrieves it in the corner. It’s a two out double for Schmid. A soft ground ball. On to second and Gonzalez gloves it onto first for the final out. So the Giants will get just the one run on the leadoff homer by Willie Adamus. I’m going to say that this is as good as we’ve seen Verlander throw. He struck out Pagarro looking in the third. Let’s see if Pagarro jump on a mistake here perhaps from Verlander. And he does indeed hit one out to tie the game at one. It’s his first this year with the Pirates. Leo Ver Pagaro. It is 1-1 as he clears the deck with a cannonball. And he does it against a guy who’s going to be a Hall of Famer someday. Live ball to shallow right. Oh, a dive. Mtos made it. Nope. Safe. A trap. You see Mtos hesitant. Didn’t know whether to dive or not. Finally did and traps it for a hit. Horowitz aboard following the home run. Oh, that’s a line drive to center field in front of Jung Hu Lee. Hard hit balls here offer in this fifth inning. Got him. Pirates tied up on the home run. Giants are coming up. Falter has allowed four bases on balls. He gave up a home run to Willie Adamus leading off the fourth. Swinging a soft tapper back to the mound. Leaping grab by Falter and he’ll lob it in the direction of first base where Horowitz will field it and then move over to the base and retire the batter on away. High fly ball left field. Fam in a couple steps. He calls for it and he moves over a couple steps at the last moment to make the catch for the second out. Feball shallow right. Reynolds coming on. Reynolds a diving grab. What a play by Brian Reynolds laying out. Wow. I didn’t think he had a shot at that. I didn’t think it was going to be close. A long way. Perfectly timed dive right off the top of the grass. So here’s your new pitcher. It’s Ryan Walker to face Joey Bart. Joey Bart with a base hit to right there with the first baseman playing near the bag. That afforded Bart that hole and a line drive base hit for Spencer Horowitz. First and second and it brings up Andrew McCutchen. Got him. That’s just paint with 97 mph two seam movement. Swinging a slow roller cutting over from third. Chapman’s got it. His throw to first is in time and Chapman. Nice play. Ryan Walker works around those two hits. 53rd appearance for Mr. Rogers as he’s facing Nick Gonzalez. Shoots one on the ground pass. The diving attempt of Schmidt and into right. A base hit that puts Gonzalez aboard to start this eighth inning. Swinging a soft ground ball. Rogers will field and he can’t have a play on that one. He was backtracking over the foul line. I mean, he’s a good fielder. He has a grip. He gets a throw off and in all likelihood they get him. But if you can’t get a grip and you can’t make a throw and risk throwing it into right field. There’s a slowly hit ground ball to the right side. A look at second and a throw to first. Oh, it hits Hayes. Otherwise, it goes past Hayes and a run scores. So, you’ve got a very inexperienced first baseman, Raphael Devers, confused on that play and Schmidt throwing to the bag when the pitcher is not expecting it. And they luck out to the Giants in that the ball the throw hits Hayes as Joey Bart comes to the plate. Ground ball base hit for Joey Bart. Rebella will hold. Fam at third, but Gonzalez scores and the Pirates lead it two to one. That’s big and they’re going to give you extra outs. Take advantage. Here’s Pagarro. A little tapper. Slowly hit. Chapman to first. RBI for Pagarro. Pirates lead it three to one. Tyler Rogers wanted a big strike out or a double play ball. It’s another rivy for Pagarero now with a couple of them tonight. Here is Dennis Santana. Outstanding season 139 RA 176 opponent average making his 46th appearance. Looking for his sixth save. And there’s one. That’s where he wanted to put it. Started in the zone. Have it break out. Tight little slider. A timing stop by Hayes to his feet. What a play. Key Brian Hayes. Spectacular play. The gold glover robs Adamus and quiets this crowd. Raise the jolly Roger. Dennis Santana smooth gets the save. The Pirates get another win.

  1. I was at this game and so very frustrating we lost the series & now to a tied record!! I really need us to win tomorrow to get your winning record back!! Let’s hope Logan Webb seriously has it tomorrow’s game 7/30! Let’s not have a losing record this season! Would be fantastic if we end the season with a winning record even though we don’t make it to the post season! Come on boys! It’s seriously time for a win tomorrow!!

  2. This is a disgrace. Being a giants fan in So cal has its cons and all but man im glad I have an excuse not to watch this bs!!

  3. Wow, I watched a lot of Giants early in the year. Lee and Chapman were hitting a lot. Now, no one can hit, even their big hitters like Adames and Devers. I've seen little leaguers hit the ball harder. That Rodgers inning was brutal! Submarine pitcher giving up base hits on swinging bunts all inning!

  4. BS announcer ….. @0:27 …… Devers was lucky that ball came right to his glove, he sure didn't track it. He started out going the wrong way, looked like was trying to get out of the way of it.
You can't come up with anything more honest than "makes it look like an easy play" ????? True baseball fans really hate this false flattery you give poor defensive players.
@6:55 does that look like a hard play there? he made that look easy? He's not accustomed to the position, granted, but he was just as bad on defense at 3B, where he was playing in Boston …. and they gave up on him.

  5. Wonder why Ramos suddenly fell off? The coach told him to settle down because betting conglomerates were losing millions. Simple as that. Every second of the MLB is controlled by multi billion dollar betting conglomerates. Just look at Ramos at the start if the season 😉 vegas picks people and controls them. We live in a capitalism. Don't forget that kids.

  6. sigh. we cant hit. cant field. and have one of the worst relievers. get rid of the submariner. i dont remember the last time he didnt give up a run.

  7. RHP/SU-R.Rodriguez is our Set'Up man who position is to Set'Up the Closing'Pitcher, who is our
Closer, his job is pitching in the 8'th inning even if there's not a save opportunity for the Closer you have RHP/SU-R.Rodriguez pitch the 8'th inning….

  8. Another loss due to terrible coaching, the obvious is the mistakes B.Melvin makes every day with the inconsistent Starting'Line'Up,with puting players in the wrong spots in the lineup..Then He chose RP-T.Rodgers over SU'8-R.Rodriguez who was an All-Star with an ERA under.200.The 8'Inning belongs to RHP/SU-R.Rodriguez all year long in every situation,no matter what.He also really needs to stop constantly playing 1B-D.Smith over W.Flores at 1B, Specially when W.Flores leads the entire team in RBI's.Now since they are having R.Devers play more @'1B we can call up 1B,DH,OF-J.Encarnacion who is almost done with his rehab assignment, then DFA/Trade D.Smith to make room on the roster so the can call up 1B-B.Eldgridge(L),And give him some at'bats from off the bench, and start him when 1B-R.Devers needs a day off……

  9. No way this is even a 500 team. The only reason they're at 500 now is because they had a good start to the season. But it's a steep downhill run now.
