Braves vs. Royals Game Highlights (7/29/25) | MLB Highlights

Meanwhile, for the Royals, it is the newly locked in right-hander Seth Lugo. Just yesterday, he signed a 2-year extension to remain with the Royals for 2026 and 2027 and with an option for 2028 as well. And tonight, he makes his 20th start of the season and his 53rd as a member of the Royals. Jerickson Profar to lead off against Lugo. That’s drilled into deep center field. Isbel is at the track at the wall. He makes a leaping play. And how about that for Lugo to begin the game. And Proofar at second base looking out. Wishing the wind had been just a little bit stronger. And that’s line pass Jonathan India. And Olsson is on with one out. This pitch is up and in. Barely missed. So ball four. That pushes Olsen down to second. Akuna draws the one out walk and the Braves have two on, one away for Austin Riley. Right-handed batter scalds one. Great stop Garcia. Second for one. First for two. What a play by Garcia. And Garcia lunging to his right and then scrambled to his feet, fired it to India. So, a sensational double play turns the Braves away in the top of the first. On the mound tonight for the Braves, it’s right-hander Eric Fetty. He makes his Braves debut. He began this season with the Cardinals, but was designated for assignment less than a week ago and then traded to Atlanta just a couple of days ago. And now he plugs into the Braves rotation, a rotation that is without every single one of its opening day members. The entire opening day rotation for the Braves is currently on the injured list. India swings and skies one out into center field. Harris coming in makes the catch in medium depth right center for out number one. Slider is swung on and missed. Betty gets a strike out for the Royals two up two down and now Pascino blasted to right. Hooking it stays fair and the Royals lead one- nothing in the bottom of the first. There’s the Royals number three hitter that is prepared to swing the bat. That is the 25th 25 home runs in 102 innings surrendered by Eric Fetty. And a big reason why he’s 3 and 10 with a 5.2 one to nothing Royals. The top of the second inning here at Kaufman Stadium in Kansas City where the Royals lead the Braves one- nothing. They got a homer in the bottom of the first from Vinnie Pascantino. There’s a good swing that’s going to plug the gap out in right center. He’s got a triple here. He’s thinking three and he is going to get in there sliding head first. So he had two triples in Texas. Another one here tonight in his first at bat. And what a great start for the Braves here in the second inning. So the Braves down one now. Had the tying run at third. Nobody out. and Marcel Ozuna, their designated hitter, digging in on the right side. Ozuna hits it on one hop. Just what the Royals wanted. Harris stays at third. One out and Lugo strikes him out. So there’s a runner at third with two outs. So now it’s Azie Alb’s number eight hitter, switch hitter. Azie hitting 218. Forine sets the target. In comes the pitch and a swing and a miss. The curveball getting both Baldwin and Alby’s and Lugo works around the leadoff triple. Royals in front on Pasquantino’s 18th home run. Well, Fetty really has to bear down, find a way to get India. Base hit means a couple of runs most likely. A high fly ball deep left field. Back goes Profar to the fence to the wall and off the top of the fence. Two runs are in. Indius at second base with a two-run double. Boy, he missed a home run by maybe less than a foot. Without the conditions, that is just a routine fly ball to left. And that makes it three nothing Kansas City. Whit hits a ground ball up the middle and into center field it goes. And here comes India. And the Royals now have a four to nothing advantage. Bob drives in his 59th of the season. Seth Lugo has a four-run lead and it hasn’t been two easy innings for Lugo. He needed a double play to get out of the first inning and then he had to get around a leadoff triple in the second. Akuna rolls it to the left side with scoops it up into his chest, chuffles and throws to first in time for the out inning over and Lugo a day after signing his extension is now through three scoreless innings against the Atlanta Braves. No runs a hit, no errors, one left. Lugo strands another runner in scoring position. Seth has allowed just three hits tonight. One hit in each of the first three innings. He’s had a base runner in each of the first four innings, but no runs. And it’s called strike three. Adam with a cutter for the Royals right-hander. Fourth strike out. And now back to the top of the order. And Juriken Proofar. India makes a diving play and the inning is over. Diving stop on the back end. India gets up, throws to first for the out. What a play by Jonathan robbing Proofar of a base hit. Well, Seth Lugo doing what Seth Lugo does. Another quality start here tonight for the Royals. And it is still four to nothing Kansas City. Two away for Austin Riley. But Riley is thinking long ball here straight away center field. A solo shot for Austin Riley to get the Braves on the board. A solo home run for Austin Riley for the second consecutive game. First run that Lugo’s allowed tonight. The Braves are on the board. It’s now four to one in the top of the sixth inning. Harris has his second hit. Brings up Marcelo Zuna who’s 0 for one with a walk. Marcelo Zuna deep to left and that one’s gone. Homers in backto back nights for Marcelo Zuna. It’s a big fly for the big bear and it gets the Braves back within a penny for Marcel. His 15th of the year and his second in his many games. He’s up to 46 RBI’s and it’s four to three Kansas City. Lugo was through five and 2/3 in barely a blink. He’d allowed a couple of extra base hits but stranded both runners. But with two outs in the six, the Braves have strung together six consecutive base runners. And now Hunter Harvey enters with the bases loaded and two outs. Royals four, Braves three. Broar slices it shallow center. Is Bell’s there. He makes the catch and the inning is over. He gets the crucial out. Strands the bases loaded and keeps the Royals in front. The Royals are trying to punch right back in the bottom of the sixth. Base is loaded. Only one out and Kyle Isbel comes to the plate. Isbel slices it into left center field. That’s a base hit. Frasier comes in to score. The ball goes all the way to the wall. Fine crosses behind him. Here comes Gritick around third. He scores standing. Kyle Isel clears the bases. The three-run double and the Royals lead seven to three in the bottom of the sixth. They get all three runs right back. Beautiful. Royals up seven to three here in the bottom of the six. Runner on second, two gone. Hit on the ground. Back up the middle. A base hit into the center field. Is Bell Rounds third. He’s in to score standing. Another RBI single for Bobby W Jr. The Royals have a fourth run in the bottom of the sixth. It’s now 8 to three. Bobby’s running. Vinnie takes all the way. And that is a stolen base if he stayed on the bag. Stolen base for Bobby Whit Jr. his 28th of the season. He puts himself in scoring position. Now Vinnie Pasquantino bats Pasquantino pummel it deep in the air right center field. Akuna sprints over, reaches out, can’t make the catch and one hops the wall. It goes up over the wall onto the fountain deck. An automatic double. Bobby W Jr. scores. Vinnie Pasquentino drives him in. It is nine to three in the bottom of the sixth inning. And Eli White is going out there to replace Ronald Akunia. Akuna clearly not happy, but also clearly not 100% out there trying to chase down those last two fly balls. And he is leaving here in the bottom of the sixth inning. Well, we’ll just have to hold our breath and hope for the best. So, two infield hits for the Braves in this inning. And now Marcel Ozuna steps to the plate. He hit a two-run homer his last time up. Maybe improving his trade value. Ozuna through the right side. Eli White will score with ease. Harris to third. Nine to four. Three driven in for Marcel. Good ball force. And now the Braves have runners at first and second. One out. And up comes Matt Olsen. Ground ball up the middle pass the diving Bobby Wit Jr. Aussy’s going to come home, but then a play at second and thankfully ProFar is able to get back. Everybody’s safe and it’s nine to five. Shriber on facing Eli White. This is White’s second plate appearance. Infield single, a run scored in his only other at bat. Toward the middle and another one out into center field. Proires waved home. Throw to the plate is late. 9 to6. The Braves creep closer. How about Eli White since replacing Akunia? He’s two for two with an RBI. Ninth inning. Royals lead 96. And on to pitch for Kansas City is their closer Carlos Estis. The line drive to third and that’s that. Outstanding work. The Royals offense came around Isbel. Man, that really cracked open the game. Love the offense. Keep it coming. And with the Royals pitching a little bit on the downside, they’ll take those runs.

  1. The Atlanta Braves and the San Francisco Giants are now 2-8 on their last 10 games. As a Giants fan, it's been painful to watch a game, specially after losing 5 in a row, being swept by the Mets and losing the current series against the Pirates

  2. Not A BRAVES OR ROYALS Fan, but ive Never soooo many Guys JOG Or Basically Walk toward 1st Base on Ground Balls in the Infield!! Pitiful Display of Hustle and giving 100 Percent Hustle No matter what!!

  3. This is what happens when you cheap out on pitching. Letting all the homegrown talent walk out the door. It's ridiculous at this point. You signed a bunch of starting pitchers with injury history. 😂

  4. Whenever I hear achilles, I think the worst and a year's rehab. If it is that injury shutting him down and just delaying the problem. I feel for the kid.
