[Bowman] Acuña held back tears as he talked after tonight’s game. He said he’ll be further evaluated (likely MRI) tomorrow. He felt discomfort when he scored from first on Monday. He lobbied to play today because in his mind he had missed too much time already this season.

  1. I’m literally scared to go to sleep because if I wake up to a notification that he tore something again I might honestly cry. Man I really, really wish he wouldn’t have played today but I don’t blame him. I blame the team for letting him.

  2. He felt discomfort Monday and we let him play today? In this shit ass season with nothing at stake, potentially risking losing another season? Why?? This is coaching malpractice?

  3. I’m pretty sure this coaching staff would let a player bleed out in the middle of the diamond if ‘lobbied’ to be left in the game.

  4. Well it can’t be a full tear because he wouldn’t be able to walk on it. Regardless, Acuña should not play another game this season. Just let him recover and come back strong next season.

  5. Holy shit Snitker what the actual fuck. If your star player feels Achilles tightness there is zero reason to play them in a season where you have a zero percent chance of making the playoffs.

  6. Scorched Earth with this entire coaching staff. Your franchise player tweaks something and you let him convince you to play him despite possible injury in a season that’s already lost?

  7. what does the braves coaching staff even do? because it just seems like they sit there catatonic for 2hr30m every day

  8. Snit is lighting this franchise on fire and AA won’t do what needs to be done because Hank Aaron told Snit to sit tf down and try coaching or something 50 years ago.

  9. I’ve never been more convinced that all Snit cared about this season was to stay on the good side of the vets before he retired instead of making hard decisions to put the team in the best position to succeed. Like holy shit bro it’s your job to protect players from themselves.

  10. Malpractice by Snit.

It’s a manager’s responsibility to save his players from themselves and make the tough decisions even when a player objects. Dude is so checked out and keeping him on could be such a far-reaching mistake

  11. Braves are just cursed. Atlanta wasn’t supposed to win in 2020 and now the baseball gods are angry. I don’t know what else it can be.

  12. Heads need to roll for this, from the manager to the trainer. Absolute malpractice considering the injury history he has and the fact that the season is already shit

  13. You don’t feel “discomfort” from a tear unless your Thor or something so I guess that’s a silver lining

  14. I’m not really surprised by the coaches letting Acuña play. They probably don’t want to make their top player angry and they’ve consistently said throughout the season they believe they can turn this season around (they won’t).

Do I agree with the decision? Nope. We literally see a team do this in the NBA with Haliburton and the Pacers and looked what happened. I just see how the logic came to be.

  15. At some point we gotta find players that can stay on the field if you’re investing the amount of money into players teams are today. Matt Olson is without a doubt the exception, not the rule as far as players health is concerned today. Injuries across all sports are becoming more and more absurd these days. I hate it for Acuna because he’s a generational talent and a HOF prejection player. We can’t keep having the injuries we have like this year after year and expect to win anything. We just need to start signing for as much quality depth as we can.

  16. If it’s torn I want everyone fired. Everyone.

You know what do it anyway. Enough is enough.

Praying it’s just tendinitis. I had it/have it like I said in the game thread and when it flares it’s horrible, but it’s not a huge deal in the long run.

  17. This is like when that shit-for-brains motherfucker Bill O’Brien left Arian Foster in a blowout game against the Dolphins and Foster blew his shit out and never played a down for the Texans again.

  18. Am I being crazy or is it more clear now why snit was basically rotting in the minors his entire post playing career. Feels like he just lucked out by just keeping his head down and working forever

  19. Guys, I’ve had Achilles pain from bad cleats. It comes right over a week or two. He’s not landing backwards and pushing off to shoot like the NBA that blows an Achilles.

  20. Everyone is roasting the coaching staff… But this is on the training/medical team
