Rangers vs. Angels Game Highlights (7/29/25) | MLB Highlights

certainly could make things interesting if they win both of these next two games. Yeah, it’s going to be really important for Kikuchi to be able to not only be himself here at home where he’s been dominant, but get a little bit deeper in this game, give himself a chance to pick up a W. Well, the Rangers hoping to get to him here tonight. He has not been dominant against the Rangers, although he does win a lot of the games he pitches against the Rangers. Hagerty switch hitter batting from the right side hitting 258. He swings and lifts one high into the air. Shallow center. Adele coming on. He’ll slide and he doesn’t make the catch. It falls for the base hit. Renifo was out there but peeled away to give Adele the chance to make a sliding grab and he couldn’t quite come up with it. Here’s the 1-1. That ball is hit hard into left center. A base knock for Langford. Ward in to pick it up. Headed to third base is Hagerty. Here’s the throw. He slides. He is safe at third and taking second on the throw is Wyatt Langford. Aggression on the bases, but the Angels do want to use their challenge here. Question is, did Hagerty hold the base and then Newman hold the tag? And there’s a disconnect right there. And he has that glove on him all the way through and another tag without the body on there. Safe call at third base. He definitely disconnects a couple of times. I mean, especially there. After review, the call on the field is overturned. The runner lost contact with the badge while the glove was on him resulting in an out. The ball one strike on Garcia with two outs. Langford at second. Fly ball hit to the right field corner. It’s a long run for Comparero out near the wall and he’s got it to win the inning. Usay Kikuchi puts up a zero in the first. Now Joe Adell is the batter with Neto at second base and Showell at first. Angels looking for the big hit in this inning. They’ve made Corbin work 20 pitches now. Here’s Adele inside outing one toward the right field line. It might drop. It will drop. It’s a base hit. Neto comes in. Shotwell goes to third. Throw behind Adele at first. Dribbles away. Shottwell’s trying to score and he will. That is great base running cuz Shaunell knew where the catcher had to come up on the baseball and where the Glover was spotted behind the plate. This great base running by Shaunell. Really, really good base running there. Typically after the rough first inning, Kikuchi starts to get really good in the second. That curveball was down and he’s been really good as far as using his curveball back door. There’s a liner and it’s caught by Neto. What a play. Does so many things to help this team win ball games. And right on Q as Erica was talking about what he did with the bat. He does with the glove right here. One out. Here’s Hagashi. Well, so far today though, he hasn’t really been able to locate his fast ball, but it’s a very important pitch to set up those secondary pitches. Strike three call to Agashioka. There located his fast ball. He has been really solid on this mound just from the warm-ups down in the bullpen that carried it out there to the mound. It’s trying to pick up some more wins. Are going on three and two and it’s right there for strike three. Smith thought it was a little high but Kikuchi with backto-back strikeouts to end the inning. He’s been touching 9798 pretty consistently around 95 miles per hour on average with his heater of late. One ball in two strikes on Hagerty here. Kind of swinging a miss. Good change. Oh, he turned that one over really really well. Third strike out for Kikuchi. First pitch to Simeon. Hard ground ball to third. Knocked down by Newman. He picks it up, throws across and Simeon beats it out. That should be an error charge to Newman, giving the Rangers a fourth out to play with in the top of the third. Langford goes to second. Even though there are two outs, a golden opportunity, but they needed Scarcia to take advantage. Garcia with a fly ball to right. Almost the same spot as the one he hit earlier. This one deeper though in the corner. And Comparo’s got that one right in front of the wall. Covering some ground out there. Campy camped underneath it. Contact made against Kikuchi so far. He hasn’t had one swing and miss so far on his fast ball. He did get a call. Third strike with a fast ball. Two out. Nobody on top of the fourth. The Gashi struck out his first time up. 3-2 pitch and that ball’s hit well deep out to left. Ward is back near the wall. Leaps up and that’s gone. Boy, great to have Kyle and Gashio back. Fifth home run of the year. The Rangers are on the board here. It’s two to one. Slider again right in the middle of the plate. Got away with Jonah, but this time he didn’t get away with Ashoka. Hit it out. The Angels have only had one hit against Patrick Corbin. It was a productive hit. Joe Adele runscoring single plus an error on the end of that play that allowed the second run to score. The offense can get more going here with Adele leading off. Here’s Adele roping one to the left field corner. He has both hits now for the Angels. And this one a leadoff double. Now could be more as it gets by Hagerty. Adele’s trying for third and he’ll make it. Well, we said that first hit wasn’t hit hard, but that was hit extremely hard for a Texas team that has committed the fewest errors in the American League. He’s still at third now. Runner at first, Darno after the walk. Fly ball to shallow right. Probably not going to get it done, especially with Garcia’s arm. He dropped it. Now Adele’s trying to score. They get it out at second, but Adele comes in as Garcia dropped the ball in right. Boy, some breaks today for a team that doesn’t make any mistakes defensively. What in the name of Twilight has been going on with balls in the air to right field these past two nights? He’s not recorded an out yet in the fifth inning tonight. Trying to nurse him through this fifth inning. Coochie, I mean, he’s just up there dodging bullets left and right. And Simeon strikes out. That was that was his best slider of the night. Nasty slider there. Pretty good depth on that. Good spin. Ran to do now and he’ll hit this one sharply on the ground off of Neto’s glove. That carums a little bit toward the line and allows Hagerty to score easily. RBI single by Garcia and it’s a 3-2 ball game. Now Josh Young who has swung the bat well since returning from the minor leagues. You know it’s a risk to some degree, but if Kikuchi had fired to second base there, he probably would have had Langford. Yeah, if you do step off a third time, you have to record it out or it’s a B. He takes a little less of a lead. No, he’s taking an even bigger one now. They’re going to try it and they got him. Wow. Gutsy, gutsy play. A perfect throw from Kikuchi. The gutsy call from the Angels because you have to make a perfect throw. Yes. Swing and a miss. Strike three. Wow. Needed that punch out with the fast ball upstairs. Halo are still leading. Shawell who’s walked twice so far against Corbin. This will be the last batter certainly for Corbin tonight with Gray ready in the bullpen in case Shawell reaches. The 10 is lifted high into the air deep right field. Adoleis is back. Still going back onto the track. He leaps and he made the catch. He did. Adoleis Garcia robs Nolan Showell of a home run. He was over the yellow line there in that 8ft high wall. And Adoleis takes two runs off the board. This is kind of that earn your money moment for Usay Kikuchi. He was brought in, got a big contract to be the anchor in the rotation. Well, this is kind of that anchor in the rotation type inning. And if Ray Montgomery had designs of keeping Kikuchi in to face Durant, giving up back-to-back hits probably makes that tough for him to justify. And he’s going to go to the bullpen. Here’s Brock Burke, the former Ranger who has looked pretty good for the Angels lately. Next pitch, that’s a ground ball up the middle. Base hit. Here comes Agashio around third. He’ll score. Smith stops at third. Now they’re going to send him. Here comes a throw and he’s safe. Smith stayed in the play. Chonu delivered a good throw, but Smith able to dive to the back point of the plate and the Rangers lead four to three. Ray’s only third major league appearance this year. Missed a lot of time with that forearm fracture and a looping lighter left center. Langford got a good jump. He can’t get it. It bounces by him. The run scores. Adele is in. Darnell will be held at third. Capro comes through. An RBI double ties the game just in front of Langford. We mentioned he plays a pretty deep center field. That ball just fell in front of him. Almost made an outstanding play. That old lines with a left and he fell down. It gets by him. It bounces all the way to the wall. Mara rounds third. He’s going to score. What else can go wrong here? Where are the Angels in the outfield? They’re everywhere. 2-2 crank to deep left center field. Ward in the vicinity, but he won’t get to this one. It’s up near the rock garden. Kyle Hagashi hits his second home run of the night and that makes it seven to five. Rangers back to within two. Well, Hagashi after almost a week off coming back in a big way. A three hit two homer game. Gets hit again. Second time tonight. Third time that the Rangers have hit a batter in this game. Oh, he got hit by a pitch. That got him on the head. Ray Montgomery pointing over toward the Ranger dugout. Bruce Bochi wants to come out. So, the bench is clear in this scenario. What is Ray Montgomery doing? Does he genuinely believe that the Rangers were trying to hit Trout in that spot? Yeah, the bullpen’s really unnecessarily running in as this thing’s already dispersing before the bullpens even got there. A fly ball left center field. This will bring home at least one run. Langford does make the catch. All the runners tag up. Throw to second as Trap gets in. Comparrow scores. Shaw finally gets that RBI. It’s eight to five. John with two outs. Keeps it going for Garcia. 85. 14th hit for Texas tonight. There’s a fly ball to right. Compro is there. Say good night to the Rangers. Another wild wacky game turns into an Angels win. And Kennley Jansen with three straight days recording a save.
