  1. Huh a very interesting deal. I’m surprised that it’s both not longer and for more.

If I was to guess this is Samberg wanting to get a bigger payday down the line whilst also seeing where the team is at in 3 years.

Wish it was for longer but it’s gonna be a steal and give the team a tonne of cap flexibility over the next three years

  2. Fits the teams contention window, and he can still cash in on a long term extension at 29. Happy they avoided arbitration.

  3. Cap going up wanting a shorter deal should be no surprise. Him being cheaper during this window isn’t the worst thing, but damn is he going to get a fucking raise when this contract expires

  4. Good enough for me. Everyone expected the early Wednesday morning signature.

    Congrats Slammy.

  5. I was expecting that type of AAV on a 6+ year deal not 3. Glad it didn’t go through arbitration.

  6. First Jets signing in a long time where the term and AAV just dont match up for me. 6 mil was the upper end of projections so I would have expected 4+ years at that kind of price tag. That’s splitting hairs though, the important thing is that it didnt go to arbitration. Lots of agents pushing for shorter deals with the cap jumping.

  7. Not good for the Jets that we could not get him to sign long terms…. In two years he could be on the trading block

  8. Basically what I thought. This brings Samberg to his late 20s where he can sign another big deal with long term.

He wasn’t going to sign a long term deal now that walks him to mid 30s.

Now I kinda want to go back and laugh at all the people who were roasting me and thought we were getting him long term at 5.2 like that dumb sportsnet model said.

  9. That pretty much locks in the contention windows. Cup or bust in the next 2-3 years. Cup please.
