Patriots News Links Catchup – Running backs carry the action
- Paul Perillo’s Day 5 Blogservations: The 90-minute practice featured some extended work on the running game, most of which took place in the red zone. While it wasn’t perfect, the offensive line consistently was able to get movement and pushed its defensive counterparts back on a number of occasions. That allowed running backs Rhamondre Stevenson, Antonio Gibson, TreVeyon Henderson and Terrell Jennings plenty of opportunities to pick up yards between the tackles. More!
- Evan Lazar’s Trench Report: Top takeaways from Will Campbell and the first padded practice. ‘Rookie LT Will Campbell was introduced to his first NFL practice in full pads by Keion White in 1-on-1s, but the first-rounder settled in during team periods. From this vantage point, Campbell had a great start to real football.’ /Good read.

More!
- Alex Barth’s Day 5 training camp notebook: Full speed. It was a full two-hour session, that saw the focus of practice change. The run game was a significant feature with fewer pass plays – which were mostly play action calls supplementing the run. More.
- Andrew Callahan’s Day 5 takeaways: Young receiver returns, star defender hurt; the offensive results were mixed at best; Play of the Day: Ja’Lynn Polk’s late TD grab; Player of the Day; OLB K’Lavon Chaisson; QB corner; Studs & Duds; No one had more fun Monday than RBs Stevenson, Gibson and Henderson who ate up snaps, barreling into the line of scrimmage their first day in pads; More!
- Doug Kyed details Monday’s higher intensity practice: In 11-on-11s, the offense went extremely run-heavy with Maye completing 5-of-6 passes; The Patriots ran 27 times during the 11-on-11 portion with eight run-stuffs by the defense. Henderson received the most carries in the run game, taking seven handoffs from Maye and Dobbs. He did fumble an exchange from Dobbs. More!
- Jerry Thornton’s letters from camp: Padded practices lead to the first scary moment of the 2025 season; Drake Maye has, for the most part, been lighting it up; it’s clear this team, this coaching staff, this franchise, is in the most capable hands once again. And playing for keeps. No nonsense. No drama; More!
