Projected bottom 6 from daily faceoff, puckpedia, and capwages respectively.

Assuming Geekie makes the team out of camp, we have one forward spot available. Listening to Chaffees interview, it seems like he’s training with Kuch and doing everything he can to stay in the lineup. What do you all think? Who takes this spot? Will it be an endless rotation until someone sticks?

Assuming no one is moved out from the start of the season until now, here is a list of possible forwards

Chaffee, Girgensons, Pelletier, Sabourin, Katchouk, Finley, Groshev, Duke, Abruzzese.

Could be others that emerge as well.

  1. I think Geekie is the most likely, but I do hope they bring Duke up this year at some point

  2. I think Girgensons is a lock for the lineup personally. Coop loves his vets to a fault. Coop was also running a Lilleberg-Perbix inhabited 11/7 over icing Chaffee last year so I’m pretty confident he’s at least lower in the pecking order.

I think it will be Geekie-Paul-Goncalves and Holmberg-Gourde-Girgensons with Bjorkstrand in the top 6.

I’m intrigued by Pelletier eventually replacing Girgensons if he can develop a bit but I bet he’ll start in the AHL

  3. ZG will likely be playing 82 games and I honestly think he will have a great season not having his offense completely nuked by LG.

Chaffee won’t be playing every night, and I suspect it will be 3-way musical chairs between he, Geekie, and Holmberg.

  4. Girgensons biggest issue in my opinion was his finishing ability.

He’s not a scoring forward by any means but he did have a career low shooting percentage. If he can positively regress to his career average we could see an improvement. 8-10 goals would be great for a 4th liner.

  5. I think this is really a good thing – that we have multiple guys who are NHL ready or have the potential to be, all competing for the last spots. I feel like it’ll motivate great play and effort!
