  1. Perry going to be the most hated GM in baseball no matter what he does the next 24ish hours

  2. He’s legit but this is based on how many years of control he has and who we gave up.

  3. I’m fine with losing Eder, but wow Perry is really going for it. Welcome back Garcia!

  4. Garcia & Chafin and we got rid of Eder. This is a great deal I think, two relievers that are vets and can make an impact!

  5. Luis Garcia was so devastated for angels trading him that he switch hands to pitch

  6. With Jake Eder (who we picked up after he was DFA’d by the White Sox) being the only player going back, I wouldn’t read into this as a sign that we’re buying. It could just as easily be us backfilling for a potential Kenley Jansen trade.

Edit: looks like we’re also sending over Sam Brown, a 1B who we drafted in the 12th round in 2023. Currently slashing .244/.350/358 in AA.

  7. From MLB Trade Rumors: “The Angels are acquiring left-hander [**Andrew Chafin**](https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/c/chafian01.shtml?utm_medium=linker&utm_source=www.mlbtraderumors.com&utm_campaign=2025-07-30_br) and right-hander [**Luis García**](https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/g/garcilu03.shtml) from the Nationals. [Jeff Passan of ESPN](https://x.com/JeffPassan/status/1950606262267232655) reported the Garcia news and [Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic](https://x.com/Ken_Rosenthal/status/1950606523711057961) the Chafin news. [Passan adds](https://x.com/JeffPassan/status/1950607253356081637) that left-hander [**Jake Eder**](https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/e/ederja01.shtml?utm_medium=linker&utm_source=www.mlbtraderumors.com&utm_campaign=2025-07-30_br) is one of the players going to the Nats in return. [Rosenthal says](https://x.com/Ken_Rosenthal/status/1950608677469389075) first baseman [**Sam Brown**](https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=brown-006sam) is also going to the Nats.”

As long as this is the whole deal I honestly don’t hate this trade. We really didn’t give up anything to get these guys and they’ll help bolster an absolutely STARVING bullpen.

Unless Sam Brown really develops I’m not seeing this as a loss here. Schanuel is very much the 1B of the future so Brown had nowhere to go.

  8. Depending on who we gave up I really like this trade. It’s a very subtle buy that can yield long-term benefits.

  9. Am I crazy for seeing this as us being sellers?

We loaded up on two veteran arms so who will most likely be on the 40-man roster – meaning we need to free up two spots.

Unless somebody is going on the 60 day, or Perry having to DFA a young arm… I don’t see any of that happening. So most likely two people on the current roster need to be traded.

  10. What are we doing? No position to be buying. Although doesn’t seem like we gave up much, so it’s whatever.

  11. I honestly don’t hate this. Not mortgaging the future and not going all in. Definitely makes the BP better.
