Habs Prospect Michael Hage Breakdown: Every Shift at WJSS 2025

Welcome to the Hockey Nation video. Today we are breaking down every shift of Montreal Canadian prospect Michael Edge at the 2025 World Junior Summer Showcase. We will take a close look at his strength area for improvement and why he could be wearing the red and white for team Canada at the next World Junior Championship. Let’s dive into the video. I’m going to give you a little bit more when I’m thinking about the performance of Michael Edge. I got a couple of clips of his performance again Team Canada white jersey yesterday at the World Junior Summer Showcase. His number is 17. Is a center. You’re going to follow him on the board. And then the puck retrieve behind the net. Break out by the team Canada red team edge in front the net right here. And now he set out the breakout. It’s coming try to go between the two white jersey to get a puck from his teammate. And then he got a puck there. Lose a puck at the last second. Try to retreat. Send a puck and find the net. Now Michael Edge is on this situation defensive. Now the white is coming. This is the same if and now Michael get a puck on breakaway. I like his shot right here. I like the fact he use the right pad of the goalie. Wish we have a red teammate to get a rebound but good shot by Michael Edge after he got a great pass from his defenseman. On the same shift is coming to go back on defensive zone. Michael Edge wear three red jersey. Now Edge is coming out. Pick up the puck. He attacking the red line at the blue line. Now you’re going to see him. He going to stop right here. I would love him to go a little bit more where the referee is on the left side. He took a decision to sit at the top right here. Why? I would like it because I would like him to attract a red a white jersey player like the defenseman. Now great for the white team. They have four defender on the defensive zone. Great play. So Michael Edge was going to see his option passing go around try attacking now. Try to pass the puck. Obviously you have too many sick in front of him and he use his back end. I don’t like his stance is too wide. He don’t have no weight transferred for the pass. And he miss completely his back end pass. This next shift guys, you see Michael Edge is coming now. You see now the white team is under trouble. They are all looking for the players with a puck and they never see Michael Edge coming from the middle of the ice get a pass and a bat and they shoot a puck and then he scored the first goal of the game. Great anticipation by the number 17 Michael Edge. You going to see the replay is coming out right here. But again, the white team completely confused on the defensive zone coverage. And then one more time for Michael Edge scored the goal. Great play by Michael Edge. And then he pushed the pocket and the net to give the lead to the red team. One zero. Now on this one, Michael Edge is on the board. He is right there in front. The linesman. He’s coming down right here. I don’t like the position from where is he and I would like him to cut on the dots right there. Why? Because you have right now white to Jose. They are pressure three versus three for the red team. And look Michael edge. He’s going to the goal line. I know he’s going to cut, but I like his unspation after that. He read the play very well. Now he see his teammate behind the goal line. He said, “I’m going to be the F1 to cover the white jersey get out breakout.” I like this play by Michael Edge. Great anticipation. And then he’s coming back, backing. And then now the white return on the offensive side. Now Edge coming down. He’s going to the goal line. But again, we see a Michael Edge play pretty good. Now, this is a power play for team Canada. and red jersey. Edge is on the opposite side of the puck right there. He should have put in front net. Missed the puck. Missed the net. I apologize. Then the power play defenseman recovery. Bring the puck to Michael Edge. What a great pass again by Michael Edge. Going to see the replay two time. This is what he is. Michael Edge. Great vision. He can pass the puck very well. And right here again he see the opposite. he got from his teammate to completely open on the left side of the goender and he put a puck in the net to give the lead to zero on that shift. Michael Edge right here. Uh you’re going to be on the prop play again for the team Canada. He’s coming out with a puck. Lose in front of net is coming out. He shoot the park. Great play again by Michael Edge on this play. The P coming back on defensive zone. Michael Edge on the transition on offensive side. Try to go around a five versus four. I don’t like Michael Edge tried to go around to two defenseman. Let’s see again the play right here. I think attacking the middle of the ice. I like that. And little bit interference by the red team. Pil is coming out the red line. He’s coming on the entrance zone right here for me. When you see Tupler in front of him look sick. Now this where Michael Ed should pass the puck on the flanker. It’s a five versus four. Set up your power play. Now you try to go around them too much. You have to be sure you don’t lose the puck. If you want to do this is another option down the puck and chase the puck because now you have three white players at the blue line. But again, he tried to go around. Obviously, he lo his best decision. It was the worst decision anyway to do this. Now on this play, Michael Edge number 17 coming back down. Miscommunication with the goalie. This is not his fault. And now he recover the P to the D. The P go back to the board. Good check by Marco Edge on this one. Finally the go out of the zone. Now we had the white team try to retrieve it coming back on defensive zone. Dark behind the net intercept by the goender. We have situation break out. Michael Edge use the middle of the ice get a puck. Great transfer from Michael Edge. Draw the puck back. Then a shot block shot by the white team. But again, great play by Marco Edge. The next shift for him is to the board. Intercept, get back there, recover the puck, battle a one versus one, steal the puck. Great decision right there. Opposite for the red team and again tip in front of net by Marl Edge. So you can see good decision making by now by Marco Edge. win his battle, drive to the net, try to tip the puck, got hit at the end of P number 21. But again, this is what we’re looking for on this one, guys. Michael Edge support coming on the entry zone with a puck. He’s already in. It’s coming to the board. I like this. Now, you’re going to see what I don’t like. Is really too much wide stance. Can see his left leg, his right legs. He’s going to play on the back end. He looking now for his teammate. Facil right here. Michael Edge is not a great position to pass the puck. Look his legs right here. That’s not a great stand to pass the puck. You have no strength to pass the puck and you have a turnover and the white team recover the puck. But this is another way you learn with time experience and that’s Michael Edge is coming from team Canada to try to make the team for the world junior championship in 2026. Great performance on Michael Edge yesterday. One goal, one assist for at two point. You can see him now. He’s coming offensive side. Now you see decision right here. Compared the first time, if you remember at the beginning, I said he should drive a little bit more deeper. Now he did it and now he’s coming there. You’re going to see the difference with his skate stance right here. He put his weight on the right side versus the left side. He now on a great balance and you’re going to try to cut and find the net. This is what the difference between 30 second ago versus now. You’re going to see him try to score. Great play right there, but the goalie make a save. But again, this friends right there, this stand between the first play versus the last play is untranc was better. decision making was better and this is just experience. Great performance overall for Michael Edge the number 17. One goal and one assist for a total of two point for the Montre press 21st overall pick at the NHL draft 2024.
