MLB LIVE🔴 Texas Rangers vs Los Angeles Angels – Jul 30, 2025 | Full Game MLB 2025 EN VIVO

just about ready to go and towing the slab. Kyle Hendris and Singi. It’s unique these days, but he’s more of a pitch to contact type of guy. Yeah, Boogie. He doesn’t rely too heavily on the strike out. He knows he needs to miss barrels, get some soft contact, let the defense do work behind him. And I think a guy like that that can keep a good tempo, don’t give hitters time to adjust or think, they can move through a ball game and you look off, they’re in line for a quality start. We’ll see what he’s got in this one. Swinging a foul straight back. I got a ball. One strike. [Music] [Applause] edge of the zone called a strike. One and two. He’s a bad ball hitter, so even if you get him to chase pitches outside the zone, he still might beat you. Not an easy out by any means. Next pitch misses way outside. [Applause] Got him swinging. He came out of his mechanics there. typically likes to shoot the ball the other way, but that time little anxious. Seager stands in now. Just missed. One out. Base is empty. up the middle and Seager is set down. And now we take a look at the Rangers lineup and a big part of it. A guy with a great track record, Jack Peterson. Well, Boog, he’s a guy to watch because he capitalizes on the big situations as well as anyone hitting over 350 with runners in scoring position. And you know what that means? That means he’s a key player for this offense because he can really drive them in when the team needs him the most. He’s been clutch all year. Marcus Simeon in the box here. Lets that one go for a ball. Two out. Base is empty. That one down the line. And that’s a fair ball around first and hustling for second. And he’ll pull him to second safely. Nice job keeping it bare as he turned on it down the line. And once it got through the infield, it was a double all the way. And now the right fielder, Adoleis Garcia. Let’s go, Kyle. And there’s the strike. Well, you always want to come out in the first inning, try to put something up on the board. It’s a big two out double right there. See if the cleanup man can drive him in and put a tally up there on the board. Two outs and one in scoring position. Swaying in a ball popped in the air and that’ll fall for a base hit. Coming around third is Simeon. He’ll score easily and it’s an RBI single and it’s one- nothing. Always feels good when you come through and get your team on the board first. He clearly didn’t catch that one on the big part of the bat. Just kind of muscled it out there and you know on the mound it can be pretty frustrating for a pitcher, but you just kind of have to expect those to drop in there sometimes. Two outs, runner at first and Jack Peterson stands in. Ball one low. Garcia off of first with two away. [Applause] Next pitch misses inside and it’s 2 and 0. [Applause] Hey, [Applause] [Applause] Peterson just got a piece of it. [Music] Two outs. Swings through it for the K. pulled the string of the change up, but they pick up one run on the RBI single. It’s now a one- nothing ball game. Back after this on the show, back in Anaheim and on the hill in this one, Jack Lighter. Well, it hasn’t been a great year so far in terms of erra, but he’s had some decent games and there have been some flashes of greatness, if you will. We’ll see today if he’s able to get ahead of hitters and perhaps get some swings and misses, put himself in a position to bring that erra down because, you know, in the back of his mind beyond the W, he wants to have a better earn run average. Zack Neto leading things off and takes a strike. And now the count is even. Ground ball to the right side and that’s just fouled. The pitch hit softly on the ground to third and that’s a foul ball. Ball two. Ground ball left side and it goes just foul. That misses the zone and that’s ball three. That one misses. So a lead off walk. Now, this was a story we were paying attention to before the game. We’ve seen him give up walks in the past, and it’s an issue once again early on. And now batting Mike Trout. Swinging a foul back. That’s out of play. Let’s go, Mike. Swinging a foul out of play. Rudder at first with no outs here. The next pitch misses. It’s a ball in two strikes. And that’s downed away. Two balls, two strikes. Good eye right there. Still just the second batter of the inning. And on the mound, he’s already thrown 13 pitches. They got him working hard out there. Come on, Angel. Let’s go. lifted in the air right center fields it and there’s one down batting third. All right, let’s take a look at the Angels lineup. A really frustrating showing for them in their last game. Lots of traffic on the bases, but they left a ton of runners on base. Couldn’t cash in their chances. Chris, they had plenty of chances. There’s nobody to blame it on but themselves offensively. They just did a poor job converting in those situations. You have to figure out what’s your plan going to be. Maybe watch some tape from the last game. Make the adjustments. So if you get those opportunities in this one, you’ve got a much better chance of scoring some runs in the dirt. Blocked. tag save at second and good hustle to move up. That’s a wild pitch. Well, that right there erases the chance at the inning ending double play. So, good job on the bases to move up on the wild pitch. Changes the outlook of the inning in a pretty big way. [Applause] The 1-1 is fouled off. That’s down and in. [Applause] Chopped back up the middle. Simeon slinging it to first in time. Batting fourth, left fielder Taylor Ward. Taylor Ward the next to hit for the Angels. Chris, it’s been a good year for him, having already set a new career high for RBI’s in a season. And that one fouled off. And there’s a foul ball. Two outs with a runner at third. And there’s a ball. Two strikes. Two balls in the dirt. Nice job behind the plate. You don’t want to run yourself out of an inning, so it’s got to clearly get far enough away from the catcher. If you’re the runner at third, think about scoring. Got him looking. And that is that. Oh, this guy competes hard. We see the emotion there. I love it. Great job of getting out of the jam. Back here at Angel Stadium, here’s the left fielder, Wyatt Langford. Hris back to work. His goes 6′ 3 in, 190 lbs, and he was drafted in the eighth round back in 2011. [Music] Bow and Chu bows it back with two strikes. [Music] [Applause] Pitch misses there. One and two to count. One ball, two strikes to count. That’s a little bit low. Great job of laying off those pitches down in the zone to even the count up at two and two. Such a better feeling for the hitter on the ground right side. Reanifo on the run. Throw to first and very nicely done for the good onside run to that same side hitter right there. Very difficult to put that ball in the air or get through it. just pours in on the hands. Here’s the center fielder, Evan Carter. He’s already set a new career best for stolen bases in a season, Chris, and immediately pumps in a strike to the left-handed hitter upstairs. Carl Dixon doing the umpiring behind the plate. And Boog, I’m not sure if it’s because he sort of sets up higher than most, but one thing to be aware of with Dixon is the high strike. Not usually a big deal because most players are swinging at pitches up there, but we may see some surprise looks from hitters from time to time because that’s just so unusual. What about some nos? Like you can’t call the umpire blue the way you do in little league or high school, right? Yeah. Even in the minor leagues, you’ll learn quickly uh you call the umpire blue, you better learn his name. And uh that’s just part of being a professional player and even a major league player. Out to short. Neto whips it to first. Jud had to make the perfect play right there after that nice backhand stop and he did. He couldn’t have transferred the ball from his glove to his hand any better than he did. Just an excellent release. Here’s Josh Young. That catches the top part of the zone. And that is strike one. And that’s downstairs and outside. just missed. Was good pitch there. Really had some run and finished little up and end just on the edge. And that’s one of those if you swing at it. He had a broken bat as you jog back to the dugout. Tosses to first. Rangers go down in order. Nothing doing for the Rangers, but they hold a one- nothing lead. And welcome back to the ballpark. Bottom half of inning number two. Here’s Joe Adel. Joe Adele. First pitch. Not close. And another ball. No strike. [Applause] And a strike on the outside edge. Well, it looks like he’s wanting to work the upper part of the strike zone. What does that mean? Top hand better be working for the hitters. Adjust that side a little bit. Give yourself a chance to hit. Fouls one away. And now three and two. [Applause] Spoils a two strike pitch and he’ll see another. Here comes a 3-2. That’s foul off to the right side. keeps the AB going. Swing and a miss. 98 mph on the gun. Well, not every great at bat ends in a hit. He saw a lot of pitches. That kind of an at bat can be contagious to a lineup. Darno. [Music] So, here’s Darnell with one out. And the first pitch misses for ball one. You can do it. Fast ball for a strike. Looks like a really good fast ball today. You can hear that catcher mitt popping. Looking forward to hearing a lot of that one in this one. Nope. That’s off the plate. Ball two. [Music] [Applause] All right, Angel. Swing and a miss. And now two and two. Well, those hitters count sometimes can be a little too aggressive and a good pitcher will play off of that. He’s got to get a better pitch to hit. And that’s way high and a full countdown. [Applause] That one out to right. No trouble here. Puts it away for the out. Two down. Second baseman Luise Ranifo. Luis Reano the next to hit for the Angels. Swinging a foul straight back. Two down. Nobody on. Oh, and he hit him. He had two strikes on him and he hit him. Here’s the rookie right fielder. Fast ball is outside. Still in the second already at 44 pitches. So some concern there. That one fouled off. [Music] [Applause] Almost got him. One strike. That one fouled off. Two and two. I wouldn’t throw him another breaking ball. Try to go again with a fast ball. Slightly elevated. He just having a hard time catching up. Swing and a miss. And that is that. So it’s no runs on no hits, no errors, and one left. We play two full. It’s the Rangers one and the Angels nothing. And now the switch hitting catcher Jonah. Catcher Jonah. Little bit low. 10. [Applause] The 1-1. And that is out of play. The one-two bounced to third. Leadoff hitter gone in the third. Now batting the first baseman, Josh Smith. Josh Smith stepping in for the Rangers. Rangers well struck right field and that one hops the wall makes the turn and heads for second and that’s a double. Everything came together perfectly for him right there. That’s a good sound coming off the bat man. And as he connected out front and ripped it into the outfield. That’s one of those swings where you just don’t even feel the ball hit the barrel. That’s a pure stroke. One out, runner at second. Here’s the shorts stop at the plate. Cory Seager grounded out his first time up and that drops in for a strike. [Applause] Come on, Los Angeles. That one outside and the count even one and one. Hri steals and a foul ball. [Applause] That one is hammered right field way back there. Makes the catch on the edge of the track. Yanu tags it second and he moves up to third now. Two away. Here is Marcus Simeon. He’s been such a good hitter with runners in scoring position. Some guys just take it to another level. For him right now at the plate, it’s like everyone else is in slow motion and he’s in full speed now. A highf fly ball out to left center. Ward sizing it up, brings it in and that’ll do it. Rangers leave one, but they lead it one to nothing. The batter now, Kevin Newman. Good defender. He’s been inconsistent offensively. Dub. Line drive gets down. Base hit and that turns the lineup over. Oh, that started and ended pretty quickly. No messing around right there. Nice line drive to the pull side. bed it out front but just stayed through it nice enough and ripped it into the outfield and the batter will be the shorts stop. Zack Neto let off the bottom of the first with a walk. That one finds the zone and that’s strike one. And that one fouled off. Tying run is a first here in the last half of the third. Chases that one out of the zone. He’s notched four strikeouts now. Just indecisive in that at bat. He couldn’t commit to the slider. tried to sit in between, just not able to put the bat on the ball. Here’s Trout. Fly to center his first time. He’s 0 for one. That misses. One and0. Though Chris, through the early stages, he hasn’t been very efficient in terms of the pitch count. He’s going to need to get some quick outs if he’s going to get deeper into this game. [Applause] It is interesting though when you consider the way the game is run now doesn’t even matter that much if your starter doesn’t go that deep because teams are really aggressively building their bullpens. And it is two and one. Two balls, one strike. Smoked in the left. Base hit. They get it in quickly. So, first and second now, one out. I’m sure he feels really good about that one. Just a solid swing right there. Caught it out front and ripped it into the outfield for the base hit. Those always feel great. First and second, one out. Nolan Showwell the next to hit for the Angels. He’s 0 for one. Just missed. One out. Runners at first and second. [Applause] That one is absolutely belted and it’s a one hopper off the wall. Should be extra bases. One runs in there safely. They take the lead. It’s 2-1. Oh, a huge two RBI swing of the bat right there. Loud contact leads to the double. I mean, you could tell it had extra bases written all over it as it jumped off of his stick. One down. Taylor Ward the next to hit for the Angels. Struck out looking at his first at a fast ball misses outside for a ball and it’s one and0. Yeah, that’s fouled off. Hitter’s got some good opposite field power. What I like about something being hit to the right side into the outfield is that the base runner at second has a very good read and can determine whether or not he can score on that base hit. Little bit low. Now two balls and two strikes. [Applause] drilled out towards left center field. Carter under it makes the grab for the second half. Now batting center fielder Joe Adele. Joe Adele the next to hit for the Angels. Struck out swinging his first time. clips the corner. It’s 0 and one. Chopper right side. Simeon the throw to first and that’ll keep more runs from coming in. Inning over, but they’ll pick up a couple runs here. Both coming on this two-run double. And this is now a 2-1 ball game. It’s Major League Baseball on the show. Adoleis Garcia stepping in for the Rangers. Adole Garcia. Swing and a miss. That’s strike one. Well, after putting up a nice inning on offense, got some runs across. This is where you look for the starter to go out there, have a shut down inning. Don’t give that other team any hope. Uh you just hope that he can get through this inning, get the bats back up there while they’re hot. swing and a miss and a change up in the dirt. Cardau collects, fires to first, got him one away on the strike out. Well, take a look at the three pitch sequence here. Pretty simple in terms of putting him away at the plate once you’re ahead 02 as a pitcher. You can really expand the zone and see how aggressive that hitter is going to be trying to protect and battle. And right there, clearly he was in swing mode, but all you can do is hope to foul that off. Here is Jock Peterson. right through there for a strike. Well, the offense has gotten going and a pitcher wants to go out there, have a real quick inning, get those guys back into the dugout so those bats can stay hot. Peterson tries to check his swing now. A look to third and no swing, says Joe McDonald. swings and misses and a count one and two. Generally, second, third time through the lineup, you want to be able to lean on those secondary pitches and command them. Looks like he’s doing a nice job of it. [Applause] Strike three and that’s two in a row. You usually are going to see that inside fast ball a little longer coming in from the opposite side, but that pitch really got in on him right there. I mean, that’s a wellthrown pitch. Tough to do anything with that in terms of getting the hands through and the sweet spot of the bat to the baseball. Now, the left fielder, Wyatt Langford. First pitch doesn’t find the zone. Ball one, no strikes. Hendrickx delivers. swinging a miss as he was late. I think he was sitting off speed there. I got one ball, one strike. [Applause] Good job to fight that one off. Two outs. Not close with that one and the count’s full. And a foul ball. He stays alive. Eighth pitch of the bat coming up. The 3-2 is outside and it’s ball four. It wasn’t easy, but he earned that walk after a long at bat. You can stomach a two out walk to certain players, but with his speed, this guy out there on the base pass, it could turn into two or three bases. Tap foul at the plate. [Applause] He had a foul ball. [Applause] Knocks that one away and we’ll do it again. Langford the runner at first with two gone. Strike three. Got him looking on the change up. No runs on no hits, no errors, and a runner left. On now to the bottom of the fourth. Angels two and the Rangers won. Here comes Travis Darno. He’s 0 for one. catcher Travis Darno and the first pitch misses for ball one. You know, these Angels showing great discipline at the plate and patience definitely seems to be the name of their game in this one. They’re doing a good job of working the pitch count and they’ve been able to push a couple of runs across to score as well. Swinging a drive deep right field. And it hops over the wall for an automatic double. That ball exploded off his bat and off the warning track as well as it bounced over the fence. It sounded really good, too. He just put together a really nice swing and just missed a home run. Runner in scoring position, no outs. So in for the Angels, Luis Rangifo. That one missed. Still relatively early, but with a pair of runs already on the board, the ripple effect of that high pitch count might set him up to do more damage later in this game. Runner in scoring position, nobody out. We’re here in the bottom of the fourth. To the right side, Simeon over to first. One out in the bottom of the fourth. That’s a good piece of hitting right there. It’s early, but you still want to move the runner up and give your team a chance to score. That’s exactly what happened. So, you better believe your teammates are happy with you after that at bat. Number 51 takes low. Second trip to the plate in this one. Runner on to third. One gone. Foul ball there. [Music] [Applause] Not even close there. Two and one. [Music] [Applause] Late that time and it’s strike two. Man, he was really tardy on that fast ball. Great job of setting him up by throwing the curve ball. Add some velocity to it on the next pitch. Can’t catch up. And the two- two just misses with that one. This is a situation where the hitter is looking for something up in the zone that he can get his arms extended. What you have to be careful of is that pitch that’s up that’s in on your hands. That’ll pop you up in the infield and that’s exactly what the pitcher wants. Got him. He picks up his fifth strike out on the hill. Tremendous job of bringing that ball back over the plate. He gets just enough of it to get the call. And tell you what, as a hitter, it starts out of the zone, it looks really far away. And for it to catch the outside corner, you just have to tip your cap to the pitcher. So, two down now. And here is Kevin Newman. One for one with a single and a run scored so far. That one catches the corner for a strike. He’s pitching well, but not throwing a ton of first pitch strikes. Usually doesn’t work out for success, but you can never predict baseball. Rudder at third. Two away. Ball one action in the pen down there. Jacob Deg Grom getting ready to go. Rocker the hardthrowing right-hander up as well. The one-1 and he grounds one to the right side and foul ball. and that’s a little bit high. Two and two. Wow, that’s a tough pitch to lay off. 2-2 now. Keeps the atbat going with a foul ball. Next pitcher slider that misses outside. Zack Neto up next for the Angels. Got him. Outside pitch got the better of him that time. So a leadoff double, but they can’t cash it in. We played four. Angels two and the Rangers one. Josh Young stepping in for the Rangers. Third baseman Josh Young. [Music] Hris back to work. Just missed. Well, these Rangers just lacking discipline at the plate in this ball game. Chasing pitches has been a big part of the story. We’ve seen it quite a bit today. It’s been tough. This one swung on and hit well way back there and out of here. Home run number 10 on the year. It’s 2-2. He absolutely feasts on right-handed pitching and devours that one for a homer. And you can see that’s what he expects of himself at bat after at bat. He’s that confident. That’s an impressive swing of the bat to go over the wall to the opposite field gap. And you know, there are a lot of guys that just don’t have the pop to do that and probably just as many who don’t have the approach either. He let that ball travel and he got great extension on the follow through to drive it out of here. And the batter now Jonah called strike right there. And on the mound, you know, confidence has to be pretty high with all of the swings and misses. He’s had him eaten out of the palm of his hand pretty much all game. [Applause] Oh, you just got to delete it. You give up that lead off home run. Go back to work. Focus on this next batter. And that one finds its way through. So now back to the top of the order. still able to come through behind in the count right there. You got that front foot down and pitch recognition was on point. Pretty impressive for an 02 count. So, the Rangers batting order turns over. Josh Smith digs in now. One for two, [Applause] swings and pulls a foul to the right side. on the ground. Two ball. The throw to second. Not in time to first. It’s a fieldielder’s choice. Good fade and sinking action of that change up. Got that hitter to roll over. Here comes Cory Seager. Both for two in this one. Oh, look out here. He’s going to come up ready to swing in this situation. [Applause] Just miss man at first. One away. fouled off. He was late. [Applause] [Music] [Applause] That wasn’t an easy pitch to hit. It’s much easier to do damage against mistakes, but that’s not what that pitch was. And there’s a ball. This guy’s a fun guy to watch taking at bat. He just battles up there. He doesn’t take a pitch off at all. Makes it so difficult on the pitchers out there. You could tell they get frustrated with how long it takes to put him away. The two-2 now. Double play ball to second. There’s one. He’s out. And that’s two. Solo homer for the Rangers. Ties it. And we’re deadlocked now at two a piece. You’re watching Major League Baseball on the show. Now on the bump, Jacob Deg Grom. He’s certainly been one of their better relief pitchers this season. The numbers are really solid, so they feel great about handing the ball over to him. So the lineup flips over and now it’s going to be Zach Neto struck out on just three pitches last time. First pitch misses to Grom, a righty that throws with power. 36 years old and he was a ninthround draft pick back in 2010. Next offering upstairs. Two balls, one strike. Swing and a miss as he was out front. Two balls, two strikes. Still two and two after the foul ball. Swing and a miss. Struck him out and that’s the first out. Just a great slider right there. And I think the key for pitchers and what hitters don’t want to see is if a pitcher misses with that pitch that he misses off the edge of the strike zone rather than in the middle of the strike zone. And right there, excellent execution and it finished up in a perfect spot. Here’s Mike Trout drilled in the air out towards right center. Garcia sizes this one up, nabs it, and there’s two away. Now batting first base and next for LA Nolan Shadow Shadow and first offering is fouled off. Now this is just part for the course these days. Huge fast balls coming out of the bullpen and that one fouled off. Two down, nobody on. Last half of inning number five goes down looking. Nothing doing here this half. Five innings complete. We are tied 2-2. Now it’s Marcus Simeon. [Music] And that’s off the outside edge. And that is ball one. Movement in the bullpen. Rock Burke, the left-handed reliever, appears to be getting loose. Fulmer, the right-hander, loosening up as well. The 10. and downstairs. Next offering is downstairs in there at the knees for a strike. Just doesn’t seem to want to throw him a fast ball. Fought off foul. [Applause] gets a piece and stays alive. It’s a lead off walk and that’s the go-ahead run. Now batting right fielder manager out of the dugout and he’s going to make a change. Kyle Hendris done for the night. Just never found his groove. Wasn’t able to settle in. New arm coming on. Back in a moment. Now pitching. They hand the ball over to a new arm, Jose Soraniano. Well, walks have certainly been an issue for him this season, so we’ll see what kind of command he has. Now it’s the right fielder Adoleis Garcia [Applause] had a breaking ball misses outside with a go ahead run at first and we’re the top half of the sixth and it’s one and one one and [Applause] Yeah, that’s a little high. Homeplayed umpires trying to tighten things up a little bit. Up and in. Ball three. Jack Peterson in the on deck circle hoping to get a chance to make a big impact here. Simeon on at first. Nobody out. Next offering is in for a strike. I got three and two. That’s a good at bat right there. He was down early in that plate appearance. Works the walk. Interesting. He went with the off speed and walked the hitter. Man, you got to challenge the guy with the fast ball. First and second, no outs. And the batter now, Jock Peterson, who’s 0 for two with a pair of strikeouts. And the first pitch misses for ball one. One and0. No outs. Runners at first and second. [Applause] On the ground right side down the line and it’s fouled. [Applause] Oh, he doesn’t get the call. And it’s two and one. You got this. [Applause] and misses inside. First and second here. No outs and they’re all loaded up. Man, that’s a tough one to take on the full count, but I guess he saw it really well. It’s a really nice plate appearance. Next up for Texas, Wyatt Langford. Golden opportunity right here. Swing and a tapper that rolls foul. Well, this is a tough situation with the bases loaded. But the healthiest mindset is just try to get outs one hitter at a time. [Applause] And that is out of play. You need a strike out and you need a ball perhaps on the ground for a double play or get yourself a popup something. But you got got him looking and that is a big first out. Evan Carter stepping in for the Rangers. His split numbers between June and July there. [Applause] That pitch gets the inside corner. Strike one. Tough situation right here. So important as a pitcher to get ahead in the count as he did right there. One out. Base is full. [Applause] Next offering is outside. [Applause] It hard but foul off to the left. He’s looking for a ground ball to get a double play and out of this jam. [Applause] Puts it in the air out towards left center. Makes the grab. Runner tags from third. He’ll score on the sack fly. 32. They take the lead. In that situation, you’re looking to get something up in the zone that you can put in the air. the worst case scenario, a sacrifice fly to drive in that runner from third. So digging in, Josh Young. He’s already homered here in this one. Late swing fouled all my drive. That’s a base hit. Headed for the plate. Here’s the throw. Save. In comes the run from second. 42 now. Well, that was an important bat in this game. So, a great job there stepping up to the challenge. Really good swing right there. You got a pitch that he knew he could handle. Allowed himself to stay back just a tad bit longer and he hit the ball on the screws. First and second, two outs. Jonah getting ready to hit. Just missed. 10. [Applause] Two on, two outs. Drilled out towards left center field. That’s well struck. That one back and it’s gone. So he goes the opposite way with that one. His second homer this series. and they add to their lead. It’s 72. There was a fast ball down the middle. I don’t think the hitter recognized the pitch, but once he did, was quick enough to get it in play with some authority. He got that up and out of here. Here comes a skipper out of the dugout and he’s ready to make the move. Jose Soraniano gives way and as he heads off, we’ll step aside for a minute. Back with a new pitcher after this break. Now pitching number 68 comes on now. Well, they need someone to stop the bleeding and keep the score right where it is. Seems like a tough task today with the way this lineup is swinging it. So the batting order turns over. So next to hit for Texas, Josh Smith. First pitch doesn’t find the zone. All one, no strikes. [Applause] in the air center field. Adele moves under it and he makes the catch and that’ll do it. But the biggest swing of the inning comes right here. A three-run homer. It’s 72. Major League Baseball is on the show. Here’s the left fielder, Taylor Ward. Left fielder Taylor Ward. And the first offering a fast ball for a strike. This is a very important inning here. After scoring all those runs, you want your pitcher to come out and just mow them down. The offense has worked hard. It’s shut down inning time. started to go after it. Now a looked down to first and he went around. That’s ruled the swing and that one upstairs. Ball one. I don’t like to say he wasted a pitch. I think that was a purpose pitch. Change the eye level. Have him look up. Now go back exactly where you want to go. Swing and a miss. Struck him out and he’s registered three Ks in this one. Oh, you got to be pretty quick with the bat speed these days. So many guys throwing in the upper 90s. And you see the velocity on that one. Just tough to catch up to. I mean, guys are coming in and they’re going max effort. They’re not looking to go a long distance. They want to get as many strikeouts as they possibly can. Adele in the box with one away as he takes ball one. That’s ball two. [Music] [Applause] [Music] Swag on. Belted back there and that one’s gone. His 22nd homer of the year and they cut it to the lead. It’s 73. That gives him hope they can pull off this comeback. They just need a few more swings like that and they’re back in business. [Applause] When a guy’s got a real hard fast ball, you can’t overswing. All you’ve got to do is get the bathe head to the spot. If you do, he supplies the power and you’ll get to jog around the bases like he did right there. Base is empty, one away. Here’s the Angels catcher, Travis Dardo. Darno started after it, tried to hold up. Now a look to first. Yes, he did. That’s a swing according to Eric Summerskill. [Music] upstairs. Going to count one and two. [Applause] And that’s outside. Oh, he might have to look for a different putaway pitch right here, too, too. He’s already seen the curve ball a couple of times in this at bat, so might have it timed up and ready for it. down the left field line. Base hit. Now he turns and heads for second. The throw in. The tag out. Got to love the hustle and the attitude there to try to stretch that single into a double, but unfortunately thrown out at second base. He was so close to being in scoring position. Two down, base is empty. Luis Rangifo the next to hit. Fast for a strike. [Applause] He swings and fouls one off. Ground ball up the middle finds its way through base hit and that extends the inning. Up next for the in. Now it’s the switch hitting outfielder rightielder. [Music] That’s off the mark. Ball one. [Applause] And that one upstairs struggled a little bit in this one. Couple of strikeouts earlier, but doing a much better job in this at bat to get ahead and find a good hitter count at 2 and 0. In there for a strike at the bottom of the zone. Two, one strike. Ground ball right side, tosses to first. That is the inning. But not before they answer back with a solo home run. It’s now 73. You’re watching Major League Baseball exclusively on the show. So now it’s Cory Seager 0 for three in this one. With this kind of lead, he can swing freely, try to hit the ball out of the park, do what he loves to do. That one finds the zone. Strike one. 02 count. Both pitches on the inside part of the plate. Hitter is thinking, I don’t want to get beat here. This is a good time for something off speed away. struck him out swinging. Chase the fast up the ladder for strike three. Now batting. So up next, Marcus Simeon. Ball one there. Really close pitch down around the knees there. And you could see him asking where it missed. Probably doesn’t agree, but it appears he’s ready to move on to the next pitch. Base is empty, one away here in the top half of inning number seven. Inside and hit him. That ball got him. Adoleis Garcia stepping in for the Rangers. Adoleis Garcia. This one popped off. Showell in position. He’s got it. And there’s two away. Up next for the Rangers, the designated hitter, Jock Peterson. Here’s Jack Peterson. A walk and a pair of strikeouts. Simeon runs. Pitch is high. Throw there. Safe. Simeon on it. Second with two down. That one misses and that’s ball two. Two balls, no strikes. And another ball. Evidently not too impressed with that call and it feels like he got squeezed on the outside corner. So he’s making his case. You got to be careful to pick your spots in terms of showing your frustration with the umpire and he felt this was his time. So now two on and two outs. Oh, you know this guy wants to swing it, but he’s showing some good patience in this one. It’s the second time he’s taken by four. First and second, two outs. Up next for the Rangers, Wyatt Langford went down looking on three pitches last time. Let’s see if he can be a little more aggressive right here. There’s strike, man. I mean, nice job just presenting it to be better than it actually was. [Applause] Next offering is in for a strike. Well, this is a higher leverage spot and I love the way that he’s turned things around. He’s got two outs now ahead in this count and he can pretty much dictate what’s going to happen next in terms of the pitch sequence. 0 and two now just off the inside edge. This hitter’s been seeing good velocity in the at bat. He’s kind of set up for that change up. He hasn’t seen it yet. Looks just like a fast ball out of the hand. Hard hit right side. They get the force out number three. Rangers leave a pair, but they lead it by four. It’s 73. [Music] So digging in Kevin Newman. The Halos in striking distance but have some work to do. Boo. It starts with the laid off man. I need a good at bat out of him right here. That’s in for a strike. on the ground to the left. Seager zips it to first and they get the leadoff hitter in the seventh. Now batting the shorts stop. Now it’s the Angels leadoff man Zack Neto sing. You talk about a guy that has all the skills. The range is really good but the arm just stands out and he makes all the plays. And that is in for a strike going one. And because of that big power arm, he’s able to play a little bit deeper, make throws from the outfield grass all the way across the diamond and still get a pretty good runner. That’s impressive. Foul ball still 0 and two. And it’s fouled off. They’ll do it again. One down. Base is empty. That one not close and count one and two. Out towards right center field. Garcia really on his horse for this one. Makes a nice grab at a full sprint. Two away. Those could be pretty fun as an outfielder. Got to put it into his highest gear and go a long way to track that one down. Nothing better than that. You feel like a wide receiver playing football. Trout in the box with two gone and takes a look at a called strike. That’s outside and the count is one and one. Two down, nobody on here in the bottom of the seventh. Now a check swing at the 1-1. Look down to first. Nope, he held back. Highf fly ball lifted into right field. Smith sizing this one up and makes the grab and that will end the inning. Starting to run out of outs as they’re unable to chip away. We look ahead to inning number eight. It’s the Rangers seven and the Angels three. Evan Carter stepping in for the Rangers. Evan Carter in the air to left down the line. Ward makes the catch for the And there’s one down. Now batting third baseman Josh Young. Here’s the third baseman Josh Young. He’s already homered in this game. Off the mark there. And that’s ball one out in front with the swing. And that is strike one. One ball, one strike. Hit on the ground to short. Needto throw to first in time. Up next for the Rangers, catcher Jonah Hine. outside low. One and0. Ball one. No strikes. And that clips the inside corner. Pitch misses there. Ball two right through there for a strike. [Applause] cut on and lifted in the air. Turns to the right on the move. He’s got it and that’ll end the inning. So they make short work of them there. Last half of the eighth coming up, it’s the Rangers seven and the Angels three. now pitching for taking over on the mound for the Rangers. Obie Milner bringing in the lefty with a left-handed hitter coming up to hit. Classic bullpen move right here. So we’ll see how it works out. 345 do up for the home team. Nolan Showell now at the plate. Slashes this one and it could be trouble now. He’ll turn for second. and he greets the new arm from the bullpen with a double. Went up there looking to be aggressive and got something he could handle. Just a really nice job of turning on that pitch and smoking it down the line. And there’s no one playing there. So once it drops in fair, you’re on your way to extra bases. Next to hit, Taylor Ward. First pitch misses. If you’re going to get something going, this is the time to do it. You get the leadoff man on. Everybody’s got to look over the shoulder and say, “I’m just going to keep the line moving.” Don’t try to do too much. That misses. And now two and0. Back to back breaking pitches away. You get the feeling as a hitter that the pitcher is afraid of you, that he doesn’t want to challenge you. So, I think the confidence level is raised right here. Let’s go. There’s the strike at the knees. Some activity in the bullpen for Texas. Sha Armstrong, the hardthrowing righty, is up and loosening. Man at second. Oh, he doesn’t get the call. They’re now three and one. And that one ripped into right. Garcia makes the grab. One down. Man, that’s one of those at bats where you have to remind yourself it’s about the process. He did everything right right there. Nothing to show for it, but in your mind, you have to convince yourself that it was a very good at bat. And next for the Angels, Joe Adell. Come on, let’s go. Close but called a ball. And that’s ball one. Shadow leads off second with one gone in the inning. Out towards right center. That’s well struck and it’s into the gap. Coming home. He will score. Couldn’t have timed it up any better than that. Pretty much a model swing on that one as he ripped it into the opposite field gap and I’m sure he’s going to be watching that one back on video because that’s the kind of swing you want to bo so many positives that led to that knock. Now that sets up a huge bat in this ball game. One out, runner at second. Travis Darnardo the next to hit for the Angels. That’s in there and one. [Applause] Next offering is fouled back. [Applause] [Music] [Applause] One ball. This one in the dirt. [Applause] the one two this to third to first and there are two outs. That’s a huge defensive play in the late stages of the game. It might not be the most challenging we’ve seen today, but it needed to be made. That’s helping your team. And the Rangers manager making his way towards the mound now as he will make the move. Obie Milner is done and he’s responsible for the runner on second. So the book isn’t closed on him yet. We’ll be right back. So they turn to their closer Robert Garcia coming on to face a righty here and he’s been fantastic against him this year. His numbers in those matchups are very good Garcia. That play won’t be trending on social media later on, but it’s still important to execute it to perfection. This game is a lot harder than it looks. partner Luis Renhifo gets a chance to hit here. A switch hitter batting right [Applause] laser could be trouble. Round’s third headed for the plate. He’ll score. Well, a swing like that can help you come out of the struggle. We saw the numbers coming into the ball game, but all he’s trying to do at this point is help his team win. So, runner at second, two down. Digging in is the switch in outfielder. And that misses and it’s one to know. [Music] Tying run at the plate. Swinging a foul out of play. [Applause] Swing and a miss. And he was fooled. Really going after him here. All fast balls to get ahead in the count. looking very settled on the mound here in the eighth. One more out. They’ll probably hand it off to their closer for the ninth with at least a two-run lead. And a swing and a miss. That ends the inning and they limit the damage. They get two runs on three hits, no errors, and one left. Ninth inning coming up. It’s the Rangers seven and the Halos five. Now pitching for Jose Kihada into the game and they felt it was time to bring on a left-handed reliever from the pin with the lefty hitter coming up. I think it’s a good move. I know. I never liked when opposing teams did that to me. And now the first baseman, Josh Smith, one for four with a double. [Applause] And the first offering is not close. [Applause] Swinging a foul straight back. The one-1. That one ripped right center field and it hits the fence. Takes the turn. He’s digging for second. The relay throw. Not in time. That’s a leadoff double. Oh, that’s how you respond. Leadoff man comes up, gets in the scoring position. Now, there are several ways that they can get this run across. [Applause] Runner in scoring position. No outs. And here’s Cory Seager ahead. 0 for four. Two ground outs, a fly out, and a strikeout. Fast ball for a strike. One’s the count. [Applause] Smoked on the ground to second. Sends it to first. Seager is gone quickly. Now batting second base Marcus Simeon. Next up for Texas, Marcus Simeon. This is the classic manufacturing a run situation. A runner at third, less than two outs and a golden opportunity to bring him home. And that one lifted in the air center field. Adele pulls it down. Runner tags for home. He scores on the sack fly. It’s eight to five. Sometimes all you got to do is your job and don’t over complicate things. Keep it simple. Runner third, less than two outs. Put the ball in play and a nice job with the sack fly. Adoleis Garcia will hit next. Swing and a miss. Strike one. He didn’t want to give up that run, but he did. Got the fly ball. Sackf fly out. Now it’s time to attack these other guys. Get your team back in the dugout. [Applause] Next offering is fouled back. Two down, base is empty, but one run across here in the top of the ninth. That one drifts inside. [Music] [Applause] Misses outside and the count is even. Two and two. gets a piece there. We’ll do it again. That’s inside. Full count. Three and two. That one called just inside, I think. And on the mound, he’s trying to get a little bit of an explanation. Doesn’t seem to be too bothered by it, though. But he clearly thought it clipped the corner. Two down, nobody on. And that one off the inside edge. You walked him. That’s a great at bat. He saw a lot of pitches and earned a walk. Second walk of the game for him. And he’s been really patient at the play. A game plan that he’s sticking to. He’s just not going outside of what he’s looking for up there. [Applause] Peterson the next to hit. Takes ball one. Two outs. Ball two. [Applause] just missed. [Applause] Peterson just got a piece of it. [Music] [Applause] Next offering is in for a strike. 32, two out, runner on first. Lot of movement in the infield. Hitters got to stay focused on the pitch. Foul. We’ll see another payoff pitch. [Applause] High in the air out to right. sizes this one up. He’s there. He’s got it. And that is that. A run, a hit, and a man left. And 912 scheduled to lead off the bottom of the ninth. It’s the Rangers eight and the Halo’s five. So digging in, Kevin Newman, one for three. Third base, Kevin Newman. Garcia back to work. Missed with a change up. Ball one. [Applause] Check swing. Did he go? Yes, he did. I got one ball, one strike. [Applause] Out of the ground to third. throws to first in time and the leadoff man retired here in the ninth. Those plays can be tricky. They’re routine, but that doesn’t mean it’s always going to be smooth. He delivered a good play right there. He’s two outs away. Zack Netto the next to hit for the Angels. [Applause] Right through there for a strike. The Angels trailing by three here. The last half of inning number nine. There’s the strike. Oh, this guy’s so comfortable hitting with two strikes. Even a good pitch early in the at bat, if he’s not ready to pull the trigger, he’s not worried if he gets to an 02 count. The short stop takes the ball. That’s a really good take right there. Slider down and in. Very difficult to get on the same plane and do anything with [Applause] that one off the mark and the count’s even at two. Good eye in that spot. [Applause] Foul ball and it remains a full count. The Rangers trying to close out a three-run lead. We’re in the last half of the ninth inning. Sets him down on strikes and they’re down to their last hour. Well, he’s going to have some thinking to do when he leaves the ballpark after this one. That was his third strike out and this one looking obviously. So, he’s been a little overmatched. He’s got to find a way just to be more competitive up there at the plate. So, it’s their last chance in this one. Mike Trout the next to hit for the Angels. That is upstairs for ball one. [Applause] And there’s the strike. And a big swing and a miss. It might be time to choke up a little bit. Get that front foot down early. Maybe even just spread out. He’s really late right now. Outside and it’s two and two. The Halos down to their final strike. way upstairs and now it’s three and two. Swing and a miss. Struck him out and that is the ball game. The number seven is such a cool and sort of lucky number. Well, this team has been playing really well, but to win seven games in a row. Uh there’s been some luck and there’s been some really good play. I think you get to this point, you start to look at, can we double that? Make it double digits, make it two touchdowns, make it 14. And this one ends with the score 8 to five for Chris Singleton and our entire outstanding crew here at MLB the show. I’m John Shami saying so long. [Music]
