MLB LIVE🔴 Seattle Mariners vs Oakland Athletics – Jul 30, 2025 | Full Game MLB 2025 EN VIVO
All right, just about ready for baseball and today’s starter JT Gin. But Chris, he hasn’t exactly been stellar here on his home mound. Well, I’ll say this, every player wants to perform well at their home ballpark, in front of their fans, in front of the city. And you know, this guy no different. He wants to be more effective here. So, you know, you look at the numbers, they haven’t been great at home. I’m sure he wants to turn that around and we’ll see if he’s able to start that in this one. [Applause] Line to left hauls it in. Three out. And let’s take a look at the lineup. This team can really pile up the runs, Chris. They’re among the top teams in scoring this year. Yeah. And when you can get a lead and be out in front, it really changes what that opposing manager can do with the bullpen. And on top of that, it helps your own pitching staff. It gives them more margin for error. So instead of pitchers squeezing the ball, trying to throw darts and be perfect, they can relax, let the ball come out of their hands, and pitch effectively. So that offense and the ability to score runs also helps the pitching and the defense. And the right-hander deals. He swings and fouls one off. [Applause] One down. Base is empty. And ball one. Cut out and miss. Struck him out. Two out. He came out of his mechanics there. Typically likes to shoot the ball the other way, but that time little anxious. Two outs. Base is empty. Cal Raleigh up next for the Mariners. And first offering is fouled off. Raleigh in his fourth year hitting third in the lineup. And he was a third round pick back in 2018. Swinging a foul straight back and down on strikes and it’s a three up three down in. Mariners go down quietly there and now the Athletics offense gets its first shot here. No score. It’s Major League Baseball and it’s on the show. [Applause] Back here with my pal Singi and today’s starting pitcher Logan Gilbert. Chris, his strikeout rate this year among the best all time. He’s truly one of the elite strikeout pitchers in the league. I mean, strikeouts per nine off the charts. So, the opposing team, they know they have their work cut out for them anytime they’re facing this guy or a guy like this that’s going to get the swings and misses. Pretty much in a class of his own when it comes to that category. Bottom of the first. Here’s Miguel and Duhar. And that drops in for a strike. Right side. Hard hit. Toss to Naylor. One gone. Bottom half of the first. And time now to check out the A’s lineup with an excellent arm on the mound singing. This won’t be easy. They’ll need to take advantage of the opportunities that they do have. You’re right about that, Boo. Odds are they won’t have many chances against this guy, but if they can rattle him out of the gates, they’ll have a shot. If not, look out. It might be a long day for this offense. Come on, Lawrence. Lawrence Butler at the plate and takes high there and a swing and a miss. One out. Base is empty. That one drifts inside. [Applause] That one misses and now three balls and a strike. That’s ball four. Tried another fast ball but missed the spot. Well, that’s a really good take right there. And that’s just mentally prepared knowing that if it’s not on a team, you’re going to take that pitch because you still have one more strike to work with. Not easy to lay off, but he did an excellent job in that plate appearance. Next to hit, Brent Rooker clips the corner. That’s strike one. 0 and one. Slider misses outside. Man at first, one away. Slapped foul. Good zip on that fast ball at the bottom of the zone. If he’s there all day, it’s going to be a tough one for the hitters. Swing and a miss. Struck him out of the slider and there’s two gone. Just indecisive in that at bat. He couldn’t commit to the slider. Tried to sit in between. Just not able to put the bat on the ball. And now a chance for Shay Langalers. And that’s outside. And that’s ball one. Butler off of first with two away. [Music] edge of the zone. Call the strike and the count is one and two. Gets a piece there. We’ll do it again. Two outs. Got him swinging. Slider got him for strike three. The A’s strand one. We played an inning, no score. And we’re back. Second inning, set to go. Here’s Josh taking high in the draft. He’s had that top prospect label over him since he put on a professional uniform. But at some point that starts to go away and you’ve got to produce at the big league level and Naylor swings through that one. Well, the key to his success is getting ahead early in the count. He cannot afford to go deep in the counts. Doesn’t have a ton of swing and miss stuff, so he’s going to have to work efficiently. Umpire behind the plate for us today, Brooke, is Mike Filillmore, and he is a good one. He’ll reward pitches on the edges a little bit, but the main thing is he doesn’t keep you guessing. Once he established that a pitch is a strike, it stays that way. And now one and two. Yeah, Phil Moore kind of I don’t know, you’d say maybe an umpire’s umpire, but really consistent, very fair. Fights that one away. Still one and two. And that one upstairs. This guy’s a fun guy to watch taken at bat. He just battles up there. He doesn’t take a pitch off at all. Makes it so difficult on the pitchers out there. You can tell they get frustrated with how long it takes to put him away. [Applause] Fans another. And that’s three straight strikeouts. left. Now it’s Randy and Rosarena. Rosarena. Squanging a ball drilled center field. Butler sizing this one up. Puts it away for the out. Two down. Base is empty. Next is the DH. A switch hitter. Jorge Palano. That one outside. Ball one. Two out. Space is empty. Next offering misses. Two balls, no strikes. Nasty back door slider. There’s really nothing you can do with that if you swing at it. So that’s a good take by him. That one finds the zone. Two and one now. That one drilled left field. A dive and he can’t haul it in. Now he’ll turn for second and that’s a twobanger. All over that one right there. Nice job of driving that pitch the other way on a line. You know, hitters, they take so many reps in the cages working on going to the opposite field, and it doesn’t always translate into the game, but right there it did, and he did it perfectly. Runner in scoring position now and a good opportunity to push across the first run of the ball game. So, the go-ahehead run in scoring position. Kenzone getting ready to hit. Good power. Not great in the OBP department. That one fouled off. Well, they’re looking to get on the board first here after that clutch two out double made this inning interesting. Let’s go to gold, baby. Let’s go. Come on. Punch him out. [Applause] [Music] swings and misses make it four strikeouts for him on the bump today. So they can’t do anything with a two-out double down to the bottom of the second. No score. [Applause] And welcome back to the ballpark. And now the catcher comes up to him. Austin wins. Wins. This one smacked out to left center. Rodriguez makes the catch and there’s one gone. Batting six, third base. Now here’s Gio. Urella. had a foul ball. Swing and a miss. And that’s strike two. Well, you got the hitter already chasing that nasty slider. If you’re on the mound, you just want to expand the zone right now. Get a swing and miss and get through this at bat. Nothing nothing here in the bottom of the second. Blind drive ripped down the left side towards the left field corner. Fakes the turn. He’s digging for second. The throw in. Not going to get him. He’s in there. A late jump. And I think that was the difference on the play. Boo. It’s not always easy seeing the ball off the bat. Something to improve. [Applause] One out, runner at second. Here’s the rookie right fielder. And that one just misses a ball and no strikes. One out and a runner at second. a swing and a miss. And that’s strike one. So hard to touch. I mean, at the top of the zone, 99, 98, even 97 as pitchers do such a good job of teasing that part of the zone. Just elevated a little bit. It looks good because you see it for a good while as a hitter. Looks juicy and by the time you swing, it’s almost in the catcher’s mid. Fouls one off. Two and two. Got him looking and he’s registered three Ks in this one. Most guys are very aggressive when they see the stakes out there on the base paths and can’t understand why he wasn’t ready to swing the bat. You’ve got to be ready to swing the bat in a situation like that with the go-ahead run in scoring position. Max Schuman up next for the A’s. Ball one there. Two outs and one in scoring position. Breaking ball inside and the count is two and0. I mean, that’s perfect location right on the black. I mean, over and over again, this guy demonstrates the ability to hit those spots. They’re so tough to do anything with as a hitter. Oh, can’t pick it up cleanly. And that’ll put runners at the corners with two. Here’s Luis Oas. Swing and a high-fly ball right field. And that is the third out of the inning. A strand a couple will move to the third with no score. Well, here we go. Top of the third scoreless game. And stepping in for the Mariners, Ben Williamson again. Back to work and that’s downstairs and it’s one and0. Well, these Mariners, as you probably noticed, haven’t been shy at the plate at all. In fact, they’ve probably been too aggressive at times. I’m specifically talking about the first pitch. These batters are swinging more than 80% of the time, which is fine if you’re scoring runs, but that hasn’t been the case today. Swing and a ball hammered left field. That one hops against the fence and that’s a leadoff double. Showed some really nice patience in that at bat. Worked himself into a good count. Got a fast ball middle of the plate, jumped all over it. Absolutely smoked that ball. Runner in scoring position. No outs. Cole Young up next for the Mariners. In there at the knees. That’s strike one. Hole in one. That’s a little bit low. Definitely a swing and miss slider down and in. He finished that really well. Just couldn’t get him to offer at it. And it is two and one. Clearly didn’t come out of his hand the right way. Left that curve ball way up. Check swing and he went. And now two and two. Williamson at second with nobody out. That’s outside and it’s three and two. Man at second now. Fly ball to right center. Under it. Nabs it. Runner tags at second and the throw’s offline. Safe at third. Now batting shortstop JP Crawford and now it’s going to be JP Crawford 0 for one so far. You have to stay disciplined in these at bats. Try not to chase a strike out here is the last thing you want. Strike one. This guy is just filling up the strike zone right now. Don’t want to get yourself in an 02 hole. You better be ready to pull the trigger on the first pitch. Next offering is in for a strike. One away with a runner at third. We’re here in the top half of inning number three. Into left center for a base hit. Run scores easily and it’s one- nothing. He went up there and got it with two strikes. I’m not going to leave this in the umpire’s hands. I’m going to be aggressive. He was in a location where he could get those arms extended that he loves to do. So nice job right there coming back in that at bat. One gone runner at first. Julio Rodriguez up next for the Mariners. Just missed one. [Applause] That clips a corner. One and one. Swinging a foul straight back [Applause] outside with a breaking ball. [Applause] Hit in the air left field. Butler in and to his right. Snags it for the second out. [Applause] Stepping in Cal. He was a strikeout victim his first time. [Applause] There’s the strike of the knees. It’s 0 and one. [Applause] Next offering is fouled back. Two outs. That one misses. One and two to count [Applause] outside [Applause] and it hit him. I got him. He had two strikes on him and he hit him. So first and second with two outs. And now it’s Josh Naylor 0 for one. He struck out swinging last time. [Applause] And a first pitch fast ball is in for a strike. Two aboard, two outs. [Applause] Pitch misses there. One and one. I got one ball, one strike. [Applause] Hit on the ground to short. They limit the damage here, but the RBI single pushes across a run. It’s now one- nothing. You’re watching Major League Baseball on the show. Bottom of the inning. Now, here’s the leadoff hitter for the A’s, Miguel Duhar. Chris, baseball today. So many strikeouts and they are available to pitchers. But this is a guy that puts the bat on the ball and is kind of different from the players that we see day in day out. Base hit. That was smoke through the infield. Man aboard on the leadoff single. Well, clearly he was ready to hit right there. I know that was a ground ball, but it was absolutely hammered through the infield. That’s not one you’re excited to get in front of if you’re an infielder. You know, they used to say charging crazy. Next up for the A’s, Lawrence Butler worked a walk in his first trip to the plate. And that one fouled off. Yeah, his swing is so good. It’s in the zone a long time. He gets the barrel to it a lot and that produces more base hits. Tying run is at first here in the last half of the third. Next offering is in for a strike. And a foul ball. He stays alive. The O2 and a swing and a miss. He’s notched four strikeouts now. Man, that slider bearing in on your hands like that, it’s just so tough to fight off. It’s kind of like a cutter. and just can eat you up, saw you off. Tell you what, hitters have nightmares about that pitch. Perfectly executed out there on the mount. So, up next, Brent Rooker clips the corner. 0 and one. and had a breaking ball. Misses outside and there’s a rocket into the outfield. lead runner holds at third. So, two runners in scoring position and just one out. Ripped that one down the line and kept it fair. And even when you hit it that far out front, you still have to keep your hands tight to your body so you don’t hook around that baseball and put it in foul territory. And that right there was perfect. Next is the designated hitter, Shay Langalers. Check swing, but he went too far. That’s strike one. [Applause] Swing and a miss. One down. Runners at second and third. [Music] Fights it off. He’ll see another. comes up empty as he chases that one in the dirt. Gets the out. Two down after the strike out. Nice job behind the plate there. Well, they get a big strike out there and that was a nice job behind the plate to complete the out at first while keeping those runners at second and third. That could have turned out way worse for the defense. Digging in, Austin wins. He’s 0 for one. [Applause] And that one upstairs. Ball one. [Applause] Swings through that one for strike one. One and one. Second and third. Two down. in for a strike. Good slider. Next offering misses down and away. [Applause] chases that one out of the zone. Huge strike out there. Well, this guy competes hard. You see the emotion there. I love it. Great job of getting out of the jam. And we’re back. John Chi with Chris Singleton. And it’s set to lead off the four Randy Rosena. Get out of here. [Music] And the first pitch misses for ball one. This hitter loves attacking the first pitch, so not giving him something to hit is a good move. Hard grounder into the outfield for a knock. So, a man on base to start the inning. Now batting the designated hitter, Jorge. The batter now Jorge Palano doubled in his first AB. Pickoff throw. Rosarena dives back. Palano 31 years old. He joined the team as a free agent. Off the mark there and that is ball one. A Rosena on at first. Nobody out. In there at the knees and it’s a ball to strike. [Applause] [Music] [Applause] And that’s through there for a strike. That one missed. Two strikes [Applause] and it remains two and two. Runner at first with no outs here. [Music] Still two and two after the foul ball. went with the sweeper, but it misses him and ball four to a board. Oh, now he’s got two runners on after that walk and things can get out of hand in a hurry in these situations. So he’s going to have to find a way to get back into the strike zone. So digging in, Dominic Canzone struck out swinging his first time. And that misses one and0. [Applause] Fast ball gets the corner at the knees. [Applause] That one is absolutely belted. Long gone. That’s one way to quiet the crowd. His seventh home run of the season. And they add to the lead. It’s 4 nothing. With a low 90s fast ball, you have to live on the edges and hit your spots. If you don’t, you’ll get hit hard. Really good swing there. Patient, waited for it. It was like BP all over again. At the plate, Ben Williamson and first offering is fouled off. Nobody out with three runs in already this frame. Top half of inning number four. In the air, left field down the line. Fair ball. He’s in with a double. And that’s his second double of the night. Couple of hits in a row for him here. Tried to get inside on him, but he was ready for it. just kept his hands in and turned on the pitch. Quick bat through the zone. Here comes the manager out of the dugout and he’ll make a move for the bullpen. JT Gin out of the game. Got them some innings but they didn’t come easy. New pitcher coming on and we’ll be back after a quick break. Now PJ number 50 comes on now and he’s been fantastic this year. Really stingy in terms of allowing base runners. He’s just got great stuff that’s tough to square up. Runner in scoring position. No outs. And up next for Seattle, Cole Young. That clips the zone and that is strike one. All one’s the counted [Applause] second. That one misses and it’s one and one. [Applause] The 1-1 is fouled off. [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] And that’s downstairs and outside. Runner at second. Nobody out. [Applause] Foul ball. Another 2-2 upcoming. Base knock right field coming home. Here’s the throw to the plate in there. He scores and the lead is up to five. Short stop JP back to the top of the lineup. And now the shorts stop JP Crawford swing and a miss as he was late. Oh and one [Applause] now the one. There’s the strike of the knees. The real threats are coming up. Already giving up a home run in this inning. He’s going to really have to bear down. [Applause] Grounder might be two on Duhar over to second. Return throw to first and that’s two. For me, that’s one of the toughest double plays to turn on the infield. The first baseman has to get inside, create a throwing lane to hit that middle infielder to start the double play, and then from there completing it back to first. Really good job all the way around. And now it’s Julio Rodriguez for two in this one. Right through there for a stride. [Applause] That’s in there. 0 and two now. Right side. And that one handled. Takes it himself. and they’re happy to just get off the field after that frame. So, it’s four runs for him on four hits, no errors, and no one left. And midway in the fourth, it’s the M’s five and the A’s nothing. And welcome back to the ballpark. Here’s Gio. Third baseman, Gio Urella. First pitch misses. You know, these Athletics just lacking discipline at the plate in this ball game. They’re chasing a lot of pitches outside the zone, and those chases are turning into a bunch of outs. Can they turn that around and stay within the zone? We’ll see. But I think they have to. That missed by a lot and it’s two and one. Looks like he’s being a little cautious with him in this at bat after doubling the first time up. Doesn’t want to make another mistake. Next offering is fouled back. Goes down looking. just absolutely rolling on the mound. He’s looking very much on his game in the early parts of this one. Boo fully on the attack with these hitters. That’s seven strikeouts already. So, he’s got a good pace going, no doubt. And now the right fielder struck out looking his first time. Swing and a miss. Strike one. All one’s in the count. One down. Base is empty. One ball, one strike. So, a foul ball makes it one and two. That one missing inside. He never moved cuz he never had time to. But that kind of velocity, you’d prefer that pitcher work away. On the ground right side, boots it safe at first. No play. We’ll see how they score this now. Batting shorts stop Max. Next up for the A’s, Max Schum. Reached on an infield single his first time. Checks over to first. Back safely. And there’s a foul ball. Fouled off and they’ll do it again. swing and a miss. Struck him out. Well, that’s a blue zone right there or the cold zone on the hitting chart. Just doesn’t have much success in that part of the strike zone. And a really good job of the pitcher executing. Try to go there as often as you can. The numbers are in your favor. Gilbert throws the first and he’s back safely. takes a ball as he stands in for the second time. [Applause] Yeah. The M’s leading by five. We’re here in the bottom of the fourth. ball. That’s out. [Applause] Rudder takes off. Pitch in for a strike. Safe at second. And that was not close. You don’t usually see teams try to claw back into games by being aggressive on the base pass like this. But it’s still early in this one. This kind of tells me they’re going to try to tackle this one one run at a time instead of waiting back for a big three-run homer. Rudder at second, two down. Swings through that and it’s a strikeout. That’s his ninth strikeout so far. The A’s strand one. It’s 5 nothing. We go to the top of the fifth. And now Cal Raleigh. just off the inside edge. Well, these Mariners putting together some really good at bats in this game. There’s been a lot to like with how they’re approaching their chances at the Oh, this one high and deep. Way back there. Say goodbye to that one. He flexes his power with that swing. That’s his third home run of the series. And they add a run. It’s 6 nothing. He absolutely feasts on right-handed pitching and devours that one for a homer. And you can see that’s what he expects of himself at bat after at bat. He’s that confident. That’s exactly the pitch he was looking for. Crushes it and hits it out of the ballpark. And now it’s the cleanup hitter for the Mariners, Josh Naylor. immediately pumps in a strike to the left-handed hitter [Applause] back to the mound. He’s got it. Sends it to first. One away here in the fifth. It’s a good recovery though after giving up the home run, not allowing it to stay in the head, but going to work at the next hitter and a tough one at that. Randy Rosarena up next for the Mariners. That’s inside. That’s inside. [Applause] check swing. He went too far and it’s a strike. One ball, two strikes. [Applause] Knocks that one away. And we’ll do it again. One out. Base is empty and a run in. And we’re in the top of the fifth. That one just misses. Two balls, two strikes in there. Got him looking and that one split the plate. Oh, nice job right there. He struck him out twice. The pitch before looked like it was strike three. Doesn’t get the call. Bears down. Throws another quality pitch for the strikeout. [Applause] That one to first and that’s a fair ball. Wasting no time. He’s two for two now on the night and just a triple and home run away from the cycle. Seriously, we’re starting with this already. Man at first. Dominic Kzone up next for the Mariners. And that one is inside. Palano off of first with two away. That’s ripped. Base hit. They stop the lead runner at second. Now two on with two outs. Now batting third baseman Ben Williamson. And now Ben Williamson [Applause] outside. Ball one. [Applause] That one out to right and that is that. But the solo shot stretches their lead even further. It’s now a six nothing ball game. Ready to go for the last half of the inning. Now here is Miguel and Duh. And well, every pitcher wants run support and having a lead is nice, but it can be challenging for some pitchers. I think keeping the mindset to attack instead of trying to be too fine and have too much finesse, go after hitters and get quick outs and a pitch. Foul ball. You know, these A’s looking to string together better at bats when they have runners on, but it just hasn’t happened for them yet. They only have one hit with runners in scoring position. So, a lot of squandered opportunities. It’s tough because those are moments you just can’t get back. Carousielder Lawrence Butler. Next up for the A’s, Lawrence Butler. A strike out and a walk. home. He’s been going after these guys consistently and as a result, he’s been able to keep his pitch count low. Throwing the ball very well right now. Next offering is down low. Base is empty. One away. Last half of inning number five. There’s a swing and a drive. Pops over the well. That’s an automatic double. Well, there’s something really nice about getting yourself an automatic double like that. You get to stroll into second base without having to worry about a throw or getting your uniform dirty. And now you’re just looking for the next hitter to kind of do the same thing. Maybe put one in the gap so you can jog home as well. And now here is Brent Rooker. And that’s through there for a strike. And it’s 0 and one. Hammered down the right side, but foul. Man at second on the ground to short. Crawford throws to first in time. Two away. Well, he’s doing a nice job of keeping the ball out of the air. Lets the defense work behind him with another ground ball. Good execution. Up next. Now the A’s designated hitter, Shay Langalers. Shay Langalers. [Applause] That’s in there. Going one. Goodness. I think he just took the best pitch he’s going to see in this at bat. You don’t get many like that in that location. I don’t know if you take that pitch against any pitcher out there in the mound. Baby, let’s go. started to swing, held up. That’s big right there. Being able to check your swing. Think about the count swing. Instead of 02, he’s sitting 1 against a really good arm. Swing and a highf fly ball. That’s out to center. And that’s the inning. And we’re back. And here is Cole Young. Fresh roasted peanuts off the plate and that’s ball one. The A’s bullpen has some movement. Jacob Lopez up and loosening in the pen. Alvarado the right-hander also getting loose. Next offering is fouled back. [Music] Swing and a miss as he chases that one darting out of the zone. Two strike [Music] and the next pitch is way outside. [Music] Ah, that hit him and the leadoff man is aboard to start the inning. Back to the top of the Seattle order, JP Crawford up next for the Mariners. [Music] Runner on the goal, pitching for a strike. Throw to second. Ow. You know, something that’s often overlooked in a cod stealing situation is just that catcher’s footwork. These guys work so hard on just every aspect, receiving the pitch, but then also getting into a position to get off a quick throw right there. That was perfect execution, and it allowed him to get the throw down to second in time. [Applause] Swaging a ball hit out towards left center field. Touches down. That’s a hit. So, a man aboard now with one away. Now, batting that pretty much split the zone down the middle and those are the ones where you got to make them pay. And now for Seattle, Julio Rodriguez 0 for three. A fly out, a ground out, and a strike out on the outside corner. That’s strike one. That finds the mark on the inside corner. All right. Now, he may have not liked either of those first two pitches or agreed with the umpire’s calls, but at this point, he’s going to have to bear down and be ready to hit anything close to the zone. Struck him out looking with the off speed stuff. Well, that at bat seemed to be over as soon as it started. Three pitch strike out. You got to be better at the plate right there at least to foul something off, extend that at bat. Here’s the catcher to hit. Cal Raleigh. He’s already homered here in this one. And first offering is fouled off. Next offering is fouled back. Two outs. Struck him out looking. So, no runs here in a base hit, no errors, and one left. We go to the bottom half of inning number six. And the 567 slots do up. It’s the Mariners six and the A’s nothing. Bottom of the sixth inning. And now here’s the A’s catcher. Austin wins. Gilbert back to work. There’s the strike tonight. His slider has been really impressive. I mean, tight spin. Seems like the hitters aren’t picking it up out of the hand. Meanwhile, activity in the bullpen. Ryan Woo, the young right-hander up and throwing. Brash a hard throwing right-hander up as well. Pitch misses. Going to count one and two and that skips in the dirt. Great job of laying off those pitches down in the zone to even the count up at two and two. Such a better feeling for the hitter. Off the mark there. Three and two now. [Applause] This to third. Williamson zips it across. One away. Bottom of the six. Now batting third baseman Gio Urchella. Giorella steps in. One for two. Up the middle, dives, but it kicks off his glove. No throw. And they catch a break as they get a base runner at first. Now batting the right fielder. Now it’s the right fielder Thomas. And ball one to the right fielder and that is out of play. Ursella the runner at first with one gone in the inning and that misses two and one. Come on, let’s keep it going. Swings through that one. And it really looks like these hitters have been in between with their timing today. Good fast ball, excellent slider, but they’ve not been able to commit to one velocity and stay there. [Applause] Sea strikes him out for the second time today. Frustrating end to the at bat for the hitter and I’m sure that’s going to sit on him for a little while. You want to be ready to hit the fast ball. Sometimes you can overthink things and I think that was the case right there. Come on. Athletics Schuman the next to hit takes ball one. Oh, when you can throw that big curve on the inside part of the plate, very difficult pitch for the hitter to get on plane with. You can have a lot of success if you can pitch in that location. The A’s with a lot of ground to make up here in the bottom of the sixth in the dirt. And down on strikes he goes. And he keeps putting up the Ks. That’s number 11. This game’s a bit of a blowout. Singi, let’s talk about something random. Let’s do it. All right, Syi in Ballpark Entertainment. You got a favorite mascot race? Yeah, I love what they do in DC with the former presidents. Somebody always gets tackled. They always get hurt. I know. And it’s just crazy. Imagine running around in those big bulky suits and somebody’s always going to go down. Pulled hard, but it’s a foul ball. Do you remember when Tim Kirkin ran in the sausage race in Milwaukee? No, I didn’t see that one. Yeah. Yeah. They used one of the kidsiz ones. You know, this isn’t exactly a mascot race. But I love what they do in Atlanta with the freeze. I wanted to race the freeze at one point. I don’t think my hamstrings could hold up for it now. I feel like five years ago you could have handled the freeze. It would have been fun and I would bait you into it and try and get you to train to race the freeze and it just never materialized. Yeah, I would I appreciate that that you had enough confidence in me that I could beat a guy who looks like he was going to the Olympic trials at some point or another. But yeah, it’s always a great thing to watch there at Truist Park. Would you have worn one of those bobsled outfits like the freeze wears? No, it would have been too a little too revealing for me at this age. I feel you. One down, base is empty. Just miss ball two. Pitch misses. Three balls, no strikes. Base is empty, one away here in the top half of inning number seven. And he walked him on four pitches. just came apart right there. Four pitch walk and guy at the plate was not going to help him out by swinging something out of his own. Man at first with one gone. Jorge Palano up next for the Mariners. Swing and a highf fly ball to left and there’s two down. [Applause] Dominic Kenzone will hit next. He’s already homered in this game. And that drops in for a strike. [Applause] [Music] and downstairs. The next offering misses now. Two balls in a strike. Right through there for a strike. Back-to-back fast balls in. That last one called for a strike. Probably go away, but look for him to come back in there to try to finish you off. He goes down looking. Mars lead one, but they’re on top by a count of six to nothing. [Music] Now pitching for we’re back in a new pitcher here to start the bottom of the seventh. Ryan Woo. And compared to a lot of other relievers, strikeouts have not been a big weapon for him this year. So the defense should be active. So digging in, Luis Athletics, second base Luis, measures 6’2 in, 205 lb and he was a sixthround draft pick in 2021. Broken bat and it’s popped up and there’s one away. Really nice job to get your first out of the ball game. Batting first baseman, Miguel Anduhar. Now, here’s the leadoff hitter for the A’s, Miguel Anduhar. And the first offering is not close. Ripped in the air. left field and a touchdown for a base hit. So they get a man aboard with a one out single. Now the number two hitter Lawrence Butler that one at 95 missed up top and it’s one and0. Let’s go now. Face it in here. Strike on the inside corner. That was good pitch there. Really had some run and finished little up and in just on the edge. And that’s one of those if you swing at it. He had a broken bat as you jog back to the dugout. [Music] The one two and they’ll do it again. And that one lifted in the air center field. They got it for out number two. Now batting left fielder Brent Rooker. So a man aboard. Here’s the left fielder Brent Rooker. One for three. Let’s go, baby. Swing and a ball lifted left field. A Rosena makes the grab and that ends the inning. The A’s strand one still up against a six nothing deficit. Now pitching for the welcome back and a new arm on the mound to start the eighth. Jacob Lopez big swing and missed stuff right here. Boo averaging more than one strikeout per inning this season. So far he’s been pretty electric. And stepping in for the Mariners, Ben Williamson. Ben Williamson. [Music] That’s off the mark. And that is ball one on the ground to third. What a stop the throw and very nicely done for the out. Cadillac reflexes on that one. Makes the dive. Has to get up. Clean exchange to throw a strike across the diamond and what a tremendous play. Cole Young the next to hit. Fast ball for a strike. [Applause] One down. Base is empty. Yeah, that’s fouled off. Swag and a miss. Struck him out. Now two away. [Applause] Two outs. Base is empty. There’s the short stop at the plate. JP Crawford. The shorts stop takes the ball. Two down, nobody on. And we’re in the top of the eighth. two down to inside ball two. Looked like it was a little bit up. Right through there for a strike. That’s a good at bat right there. He was down early in that plate appearance. Works the walk. His ability to draw walks has been something that’s been part of his career since day one. Julio Rodriguez up next for the Mariners. There’s the strike. Crawford leads off first with two down to the inning. Next offering is in for a strike. Perhaps not quite ready to hit. First two pitches by him for a couple of strikes. Now back is against the wall. is going to have to figure something out and figure it out quickly. Gets a piece and it stays 0 and two. Man, he’d like to have that pitch back. Go, baby. Let’s go. Two outs. That misses. And it’s one and two. Cut on and missed. And it’s a strikeout. And that is the inning. One left for Seattle. They lead it though 6 zip. And welcome back to the ballpark. And now the DH Shay Langalers. hitter Shay Legal and first offering is fouled off. There’s the strike. Well, I think that pitch surprised all of us. Right down the middle doesn’t get a swing. Not very often you see a hitter lay off a cookie like that. Hammers that one curling down the line and fouled. Oh, it’s a really good pass to the ball right there. Just a little bit too quick. Got to find a way just let it travel a hair more. Next pitch is outside. And there’s a ball. Two strikes. [Applause] Got him swinging. Oh, tough night at the dish. Punching out for the third time right there. He just hasn’t looked very comfortable at the plate. A little unsure of his timing right now. Not picking up the spin and location of these pitches. He’ll have some adjustments to make. Swinging a foul out of play. The Athletics with a lot of ground to make up here in the bottom half of the eighth inning. Fast for a strike. That one not close and the count one and two on the ground. Crawford tosses to first. Two up, two down. Now batting third baseman, Gio Urella. Gioella to the plate. swing and a miss as he was late that time. 01’s the count. Ground ball right side. Naylor steps on the bag. The A’s go quietly. Nothing doing there for the A’s. They still find themselves down six zip. And we’re back. And now the switch in catcher Cal Raleigh. [Applause] Lopez back to work and first offering is fouled off. [Applause] That one hammered left field back there. Out of here. Another homer. His second home run of the game. And they tack on to their lead. It’s 7 nothing. Already playing with a lead. And now they’re celebrating a home run. They’re having a great time out there. Looks like this guy was looking out over the plate, but he was ready to turn on the inside fast ball. So direct to the pitch. Absolutely blasted out of this ballpark. And here’s the first baseman, Josh Naylor. [Applause] Swinging a ball lifted in the air right field. He just missed it. Puts it away for the out. Up next for Seattle, left fieldielder, Randy Rosena. [Applause] And that drops in for a strike. [Applause] just missed. One out. Base is empty and a run in here in the top of the ninth. [Applause] That misses. And that’s ball two. [Applause] Swing and a fly ball in the air out towards right center field. Pulls it down and there’s two gone. Now batting the designated hitter. Two down. Base is empty. Now it’s the DH. Jorge Palano. [Applause] First pitch doesn’t find the zone. [Applause] Fast for a strike. One and one. [Applause] swing and a popup. Schuman makes the play and it’s out number three. The Mariners pick up a run thanks to this solo homer. It’s now 7 nothing. Last chance for the home team. And now the right fielder number 32. Kobe Thomas. [Applause] And first offering is fouled off. [Applause] Fast ball on the inside corner for a strike. 02 is the count. And one and two. O2 fast ball way out of the zone. I think he’s trying to speed him up. Got to stay back. Off speed’s probably coming. [Applause] That one missed. [Applause] That just misses and the count’s full. Really good take, especially with two strikes. That one misses. So, a lead off walk. Man, that’s a tough one to take on the full count, but I guess he saw it really well. It’s a really nice plate appearance. Man at first, nobody out. Matt Schuman up next for the A’s. [Applause] [Applause] Climb the ladder with that fast ball. Strike one. Nobody out. Runner at first. [Applause] Ball one. [Applause] Ground ball to first. Could be two to second. There’s one. How about that double play? The 361 double play, in my opinion, is one of the toughest plays to make. You’ve got a pitcher covering first and the middle infielder throwing to a moving target. Everything has to be perfect. And right there, they made it look pretty easy. The Athletics down to their last out. Here’s the second baseman, Luis Rias. That’s too low. Ball one. The Mariners up big in this one. We’re in the last half of the ninth inning. Next offering is in for a strike. I got one ball, one strike. [Applause] Tap foul at the plate. This could end it. Pitch misses there and the count is even. Two and two. That turns out to be a really good take right there. But you don’t want to end this game with the bat on your shoulder. Two down. Dolman cracks his bat and pops him up. He’s got it. Ball game. And the Mariners take this one in a blowout. The ball for his first career save deserves to be on display at his house. I mean, it’s kind of like when a restaurant frames its first dollar bill somewhere in a wall. You just can’t forget your first save. This one ends 7 nothing for Chris Singleton and our entire crew. I’m John Shi saying so long.
