The Pirates need to just transition Bart into the righty platoon 1B/backup catcher role. If good teams are interested in him in a lefty bench bat role, why can’t the Pirates just use him like that? You have a 1B that can’t hit lefties already, just platoon Horwitz and Bart at 1st and then use Bart as a backup catcher occasionally.
I’ve been vocal about wanting to get a legit long-term catcher via trade, but I’d still like to keep Bart and just transition him to a platoon 1B/backup C role going forward. I don’t think trading him is something I’d like to do.
Can we reacquire Delay?
Why? He turned back into Joey Bart this year
Bart hasn’t impressed this year, so return wouldn’t impress either. Given how hard mediocre catchers are to get anymore, I’d hold onto our slightly above average one.
Anyone that isn’t going to be part of the core moving forward should be moved for whatever the best offer is. Get some lottery tickets and maybe actually let some prospects get a shot to show if they can OPS better than 600.
I just wish I trusted Ben Cherington to get actual lottery tickets instead of tickets to a 50/50 that had the drawing last year.
Bring back Ronny Paulino
Oh please please trade him. The only way Davis is going to get better is by playing every damn day and that won’t happen as long as this failed prospect clogs up a roster spot
