So, could the New Orleans Pelicans be trading away Zion Williamson to the Charlotte Hornets this 2025 NBA offseason? The link to this article is down below in case you want to go ahead and check it out for yourself, but this trade would see the Charlotte Hornets receiving Zion Williamson and the New Orleans Pelicans receiving Miles Bridges, Grant Williams, Nick Smith Jr. and two first round draft picks. So, this trade idea is pretty intriguing because this would see the Pelicans make a gigantic move, shaking up the roster completely, giving up on a superstar in Zion and kind of going through and flipping the page to the next chapter of the Pelicans sort of uh tenure, I guess you can say. So, I think for Zion, the idea of him potentially going back home to Charlotte and playing on this Hornets team would be pretty appealing to him. I think a fresh start for Zion might not be a terrible idea. Since entering the NBA, there’s been a lot of um I guess a lot of noise surrounding him. Uh whether that’s going to be criticism, injury history, some highlights, some low lightss, whatever the case may be. It’s been a lot of pressure on Zion to perform in New Orleans. Now, it hasn’t really gone according to plan, I would say, in this Pelicans team’s in sort of a tough spot regarding their roster. I don’t think they’re going to have to make the playoffs next year, but they don’t have the draft capital to sort of go through a bit of a rebuild. So I think if Charlotte wants to get pretty aggressive, make a playoff push next year given how wide open the Eastern Conference is. They just drafted Khan Canppel. They of course have LaMelo Ball, Brandon Miller, they have a good young core in Charlotte. If you’re able to add Zion to the mix there, perhaps you can ease him back and perhaps the idea of playing closer to home. As I mentioned before, that could be appealing to him. So if Zion can stay healthy, I think going to Charlotte would be a slam dunk or a move for the Hornets to make. The only caveat, of course, is the injury concerns and as well as the future of someone like LaMelo Ball. I guess how that fit could work. So, I think Scion going to Charlotte makes a lot of sense. Uh, from the Pelicans perspective, like it’s not a terrible idea, but truthfully speaking, they could probably get back a little bit more elsewhere in my personal opinion. Like, when Zion’s healthy, he’s a very talented player. Some would view his contract as a liability compared to an asset. So, maybe that’s why the asking price here isn’t super high, but Miles Bridges, Grant Williams, Nick Smith Jr., very solid players. Add some more depth to this Pelicans team. two future first round draft picks as well is not a bad idea for the Pelicans considering that they are giving up some draft capital and some other moves. So perhaps if they want to uh you know stockpile some draft capital, they could use that for themselves or flip those later on and get back more players in a future trade. So not a terrible idea. I’m going to go I’m going to go with upside here in regards to who I think wins and I’m going to go with the Charlotte Hornets. If Zion’s healthy, this is a no doubt awesome trade. The only question mark, of course, is his health. But uh yeah, as always, leave your thoughts.
