MLB LIVE🔴 Los Angeles Angels vs Chicago White Sox – Aug 1, 2025 | Full Game MLB 2025 EN VIVO

First pitch moments away getting the nod on the mound. Kyle Hendris and Singi. It’s unique these days, but he’s more of a pitch to contact type of guy. Yeah, Boogie. He doesn’t rely too heavily on the strike out. He knows he needs to miss barrels, get some soft contact, let the defense do work behind him. And I think a guy like that that can keep a good tempo, don’t give hitters time to adjust or think, they can move through a ball game and you look up, they’re in line for a quality start. We’ll see what he’s got in this one. Swinging a foul back. That’s out of play. Oh, he doesn’t get the call and the count even one and one. Well, second pitch of this game and already getting squeezed a little bit. Next offering is in for a strike. Stays alive. Good job to fight that one off. That’s out. This guy’s a fun guy to watch taking at bat. He just battles up there. He doesn’t take a pitch off at all. Makes it so difficult on the pitchers out there. You could tell they get frustrated with how long it takes to put him away. That’s a base hit. So, a man on base to start the inning. Couldn’t have timed it up any better than that. That’s about as textbook as it gets. Got his stride and load out of the way early. He stayed inside that ball and squared it up out front. Man, that was like he was in the cage hitting off a T. Chase Maid will hit next. And a pop off right side. Foul territory. Ranifo makes the grab. One away. Time to check out the lineup for the White Socks. And this is a dangerous group, Chris. Top to bottom, loaded with players who can barrel up the baseball, a lot of high exit velocities, and that all results in a club that’s leading the league in slugging percentage right now. And boo, that that means the pitcher got to be ready from the very first pitch of each and every at bat because these hitters, they’re ready to jump all over you and they’ve got the swing speed, the velocity through the zone, however you want to measure it to hit the ball hard and hit it a long way. There’s no question this is a lineup that is built to win in today’s modern game of baseball. Next offering is fouled back. Grounder might be two. Netto for one. What a double play that was. Inning over. No runs, one hit, no errors, and no one left. Now the Angels will get their first crack at it. No score. Back here at Angel Stadium. And on the hill, the big righty Shawn Burke. Well, he’s been a very dependable starter for his club. And what stands out for me is that left-handed hitters have really struggled batting below 200 against him. And it just tells me they have a hard time tracking the baseball. Maybe it’s the release point, maybe it’s the motion, but just some way somehow they’ve got to figure out a way to pick it up and try to have some success from the left side. Zack Neto leading things off and takes a strike. Fouled off down the right side. That misses. Going to count one at two. Pretty standard high O2 fast ball right there. If you’re smart, you’ll look for something down in the zone, but not too far. Don’t want to chase that breaking ball in the dirt. Outside low. Two and two. That one missed. Was good pitch there. Billy had some run and finished little up and in just on the edge. And that’s one of those if you swing at it, he had a broken bat as you jog back to the dugout. Swing and a line drive slicing into right field and there’s a base hit. So a runner aboard to start the inning. Showed a lot of fight with two strikes in that AB. Really good swing right there. He got a pitch that he knew he could handle. allowed himself to stay back just a tad bit longer and he hit the ball on the screws. Here’s Trout. Fought off foul I got one ball, one strike. Swing and a miss. Looked off balance that time. Two strike runner at first with no outs here. Got him. One gone here. And next for LA, Nolan Shawell move to first and he’s back in safely outside and that is ball one. Well struck right field. That’s down. One hops off the wall. Headed for the plate. He’s safe and it’s one- nothing. Puts a run on the board and picks up an RBI. Loud contact leads to the double. I mean, you could tell it had extra bases written all over it as it jumped off of his stick. One out, runner at second. And next for the Angels, Taylor Ward. And a foul ball. And the right-hander deals swinging a foul out of play. Shanowell leads off second with one gone in the inning. Chases that one out of the zone and there’s two away. He’s really good hitting the baseball the other way. So, credit the pitcher for having him out in front of that pitch. Clearly, he had a fool. Here’s Joe Adele. This is another guy capable of hitting tape measure home runs. That’s in for a strike. Two outs and one in scoring position off the plate. Got him working a little harder in this first frame than he anticipated. Fast ball for a strike. One ball, two strikes, and down on strikes. That ends the inning, and they limit the damage. One run, a pair of hits, no errors, and one left on. Second inning coming up from Anaheim. It’s the Angels one and the White Socks nothing. back in Anaheim. Second inning, set to go. Stepping in, Miguel Vargas. Yeah, that’s too high. in for a strike and the count one and one. Carl Dixon doing the umpiring behind the plate. And Boo, I’m not sure if it’s because he sort of sets up higher than most, but one thing to be aware of with Dixon is the high strike. Not usually a big deal because most players are swinging at pitches up there, but we may see some surprise looks from hitters from time to time because that’s just so unusual. fans don’t really understand the familiarity and relationship players and coaches have with umpires. I mean, you see them a lot. Yeah, B. They’re all out there trying to do their best and perform at a high level. So, when you respect that, I think over time you can develop a relationship with them. In the air, right field, puts it away for the out and there’s one down. As the game has moved along, we see more and more information supplied by teams about the umpires. I’ve been in clubhouses where they have pictures of all four umpires, nicknames, hometowns, and as well hobbies listed just so you can kind of small talk the umpire a little bit. That’s great. Edgar Caro in now. Takes ball one off the plate. He swings and hits a fly ball center field. Adele snags it for the second out. Coulson Montgomery steps to the plate for the White Socks. First pitch doesn’t find the zone. Two out. Space is empty. And that’s through there for a strike. And it’s one and one on the ground to third. And that’s a fair ball. Now he’ll turn for second. The throw in and he’s out. Knocked down. And that ends the inning. After an inning and a half, it’s one- nothing. [Applause] And we’re back. Here comes Travis Darno. There’s the strike. That’s a laser base hit. man aboard on the leadoff single. He was all over that one. Just a cookie down the middle. I mean, those are the ones you dream about. Ones in the cage you’re just hoping you get in the ball game. Right down the middle. Not a whole lot of velocity. Right on top of it. Luis Reanifo the next to hit for the Angels. Slice the other way. That’s a base hit. Rudder stops at second and the first two reach to start the inning. Backto-back singles. Nice job of driving that pitch the other way on a line. You know, hitters, they take so many reps in the cages, working on going to the opposite field, and it doesn’t always translate into the game, but right there it did. And he did it perfectly. Now it’s the switch hitting outfielder. Fast for a strike. One’s the count. No outs. Runners at first and second. That one’s in there. 0 and two. [Music] Upstairs. keeps the bat going with a foul ball. And that one moves his feet. First and second, no outs. Bottom half of inning number two. And ring him up, says Carl Dixon. That’s a strikeout. The batter now, Kevin Newman. Good defender. He’s been inconsistent offensively. And a foul ball. on the ground to the left. Goes to second for one. And that’s two. So no runs, two hits, no errors, and one left. We play two full. It’s the Angels one and the White Socks nothing. And welcome back to the ballpark. On to the third inning. Luis Robert now. Hris back to work. Robert hitting seventh in today’s lineup and he’s usually in the outfield. Today he’s the DH. Hris steals on the ground right side and he can’t come up with it and he’s going to make it to first and we’ll see how they score it. Hard to tell exactly what went wrong right there. That was a fairly routine ground ball, but he just couldn’t get it to stick. And the glove might have taken his eye off it a little early. But regardless, they’re going to have to work around that error. And here is Sosa to the plate. Robert on the go. Pitching for a strike. Tag out. Darnell. Great throw. Sometimes a throw that bounces into second base can be just as good as a perfect throw in the air. almost a little bit easier to handle at second base. For me, that caught stealing right there was all about a really poor jump off first. Just didn’t time it well and he was toast after that. Right side hard hit and he handles it himself for the out. Well, there’s a lot riding on that at bat right there. Nice job of the pitcher to bear down, make the pitch, get the ground ball. Excellent piece of work. Brooks Baldwin digs in now. He’s someone that you might not describe as having elite level speed, but he can absolutely move and it is a factor in his game. Swing and a base hit. So, the two out knock extends the inning and sends them back to the top of the order. Chicago. Back to the top of the lineup. Here’s Mike Tman. He’s one for one. Lent off the game with a single. Foul ball there. Boo. This guy’s definitely a plus runner, but what I love about him is that he goes all out every single time. Never takes a break. It’s guys like that, even though they don’t have the elite speed, the fact that they’re consistent with it, they make moves on the base pads. Checks over to first back safely. Hendricks delivers. Laser could be trouble. Round’s third headed for the plate. He’ll score and then tied it. A costly mistake in the outfield thanks to the bad read and terrible timing for that to happen. That’s a play you just want to forget about. And now here is Chase Mitro. First pitch just misses. Runner at second. Two down. We’re here in the top half of inning number three. close but called a ball and that’s ball two. That one called just inside I think and on the mound he’s trying to get a little bit of an explanation. doesn’t seem to be too bothered by it though, but he clearly thought it clipped the corner. And a foul ball makes the count. Two and one. That’s in the dirt. Blocked to third. Got it. They don’t come much closer than that. Bang bang play to end the inning. Socks get one on the RBI double. Call even now at 1-1. You’re watching Major League Baseball on the show as we go to the last of the third. And the batter will be the shortstop Zack Neto. Slapped foul. And that misses. And now it’s even one and one inside. missed. Hey, two. Next pitch is downstairs. Good spot there, but didn’t get the strike at the knees and doesn’t seem too convinced by the call out there on the mound as he tries to get a better sense of the umpire strike zone. It’s a lead off walk and that’s the go-ahead run. Oh, a breaking ball in that 32 count kind of tells you that that’s the pitch he has the most confidence in right now. Just couldn’t find the strike zone. Here’s Mike Trout. He is quite an athlete. I mean, you look around the other sports, basketball, football, you feel like he could thrive in one of those sports, too. Here comes the pitch. There goes the runner from first. Strike in there. Throw to second. Tag and they got him. Such a quick and fast swing of emotions right there. You get the runner on with the walk, which is great, but then picks a bad pitch to go on and you just erase the free pass that you were issued. I understand you want to be aggressive. You want to try to get in the scoring position, but you just have to be a little smarter there. That one outside. One ball, one strike. You know, this guy’s great speed is in the back of that pitcher’s mind. If he can get on, it’s going to give him one more thing he’s got to think about. Outside low. Two and one. That one in there to Mike Trrowley. Probably the best one we have seen. Throwing it where he wanted to have a nice tight spin to it and a teaser just off the edge of the plate. And the next pitch is way outside. He should get a pretty good pitch to hit here with the three-hole hitter coming up if he’s walked. Let’s go Angels. Swing and a ball lifted left field and it falls. So, a man aboard now with one away. A late jump and I think that was the difference on the play. Boo. It’s not always easy seeing the ball off the bat. Something to improve. One down. Next to hit, Nolan Showell doubled his first time. Trout on the move. Swing and a miss. Safe executive with a stolen base. [Applause] That was close, but Stackcast shows us why he so often seems to be on the safe side of these steel attempts. Chris, yeah, you see that plus speed and he needed every last bit of it to swipe that bag. Such a threat on the bases. Line drive, base hit down the line coming home. He’ll score easily. It’s an RBI single. It’s 2-1. Does a great job of letting that runner steal second base. Get in the scoring position. Come through with the base knock. You add a run. runner on at first with one gone and now it’s the Angels cleanup batter Taylor Ward. And that one fouled off in for a strike and it’s on two. Double play situation here. He’s been working up in the zone. Typically, you look for guys to get that ground ball. See if he adjusts on this next pitch. Three, cuts on it and misses. That’s a strike out and the runner holds. Well, take a look at the three pitch sequence here. Pretty simple in terms of putting them away at the plate. Once you’re ahead 02 as a pitcher, you can really expand the zone and see how aggressive that hitter is going to be trying to protect and battle. And right there, clearly he was in swing mode, but all you can do is hope to foul that off. And now it’s going to be Joe Adell caught looking his first time up. Ball one there. That’s inside. Two balls, no strikes. Well, usually a high level of confidence when you’re facing a young pitcher out there on the mound. In this situation, ahead 200, he’s put himself in a really good spot. out in front with the swing and that is strike one. Two balls, one strike. Sharp grounder. That’s through for a base hit. Throw stops the lead runner at second. Two on and two out. Love how he let that ball travel, trusted his hands. Nice job of going the other way. And now it’s Travis Darno with the play. One for one with a single so far. swing on the first pitch. Appeal down to first. Nope, he held back. Next offering is in for a strike. Just missed. Good spot for the hitter. Definitely has the advantage in this count with runners on. Look for him to be aggressive on this next pitch. That one misses. Now three and one. Luis Rangifo up next for the Angels. Two outs and that’ll load the bases. Well, interesting. He went with the off speed and walked the hitter. Man, you got to challenge the guy with the fast. Luis Renifo gets a chance to hit here. A single his first time. And that one fouled off. Swing and a miss and a count is 0 and two. Movement in the bullpen. Davis Martin the young right-hander up and throwing. Leisure warming up as well. Shadowwell on third. Adele at second. Darnell on first with two now. Pitch misses and that’s ball one. Well, clearly not too happy with the call there. Thought he caught the top of the zone and you could pretty much read his lips saying that’s not up. Swings through it and that’s a strike out. Sometimes he wears the emotion on the sleeve, but that’s okay as long as he’s getting results. And right there, thrilled with the punch out to get out of a jam. Back here at Angel Stadium out of the fourth and now Chase Mro. And the first pitch misses for ball one. That catches the corner. Now a check swing, but he held up. [Music] And right back to the mound. That’s the first out in the top of the fourth. Good fade and sinking action of that change up. Got that hitter to roll over. Now it’s Andrew Benendy to hit. He’s 0 for one. And ball one. missed with a change up at a countdown two and nothing. White Socks down to run right through there for a strike. Generally second, third time through the lineup, you want to be able to lean on those secondary pitches and command them. Looks like he’s doing a nice job of it. That one drifts inside. Here’s an opportunity to do some damage and perhaps unlock this offense. 3-1 count. Be ready to turn on a fast ball. In for a strike. Three and two now. And boy, that was the pitch. 3-1. You want to be really aggressive on the fast ball. Foul ball and it remains a full cow. One down. Base is empty. Comes up empty as he chases that one in the dirt. Gets to it on the first. Got him. Two gone after the strike out. Well, I don’t think there’s a hitter alive that hasn’t at some point succumb to that pitch right there. It just looks like it’s in the zone the entire way. And then the top spin and gravity take over in the blink of an eye. And it’s just such a tough pitch to lay off of. Next is the speedy first baseman Miguel Vargas. That smashed towards center. makes a nice grab at a full spread. And that is that. 1 2 3 go the White Socks and our score remains 2-1. Bottom four now. It’s going to be number 51. [Music] That one’s upstairs. ball one. You know, these Angels doing a great job, Boo, of just waiting for the right pitch to come their way. And I’m seeing very patient at bats out of them. They’re doing a good job of working the pitch count, and they’ve been able to push a couple of runs across to score as well. That one to first and foul ball. Still relatively early, but with a pair of runs already on the board, the ripple effect of that high pitch count might set him up to do more damage later in this game. Out towards right center, that’s well struck. And that’s got extra bases written all over it into second easily with a leadoff double. Everything came together for him. As soon as that one shot off his barrel, he was thinking extra bases. Really nice job of getting the bat out front, but not hooking around it or rolling over it. just kept the swing on plane and smoked that thing into the gap. Runner in scoring position, no outs. Now the third baseman, Kevin Newman. First pitch and he just misses. Ball one, no strike. and downstairs. Runner at second. Nobody out. Check on the runner and he’s back safely. off the plate inside. Three and O. He never moved because he never had time to. But that kind of velocity, you’d prefer that pitcher work away. And ball four, two aboard. Just came apart right there. Four pitch walk and guy at the plate was not going to help him out by swinging at something out of the zone. And now the shorts stop. Zack Neto sing. You talk about a guy that has all the skills. The range is really good, but the arm just stands out and he makes all the plays. That one misses. That’s five straight. And because of that big power arm, he’s able to play a little bit deeper, make throws from the outfield grass all the way across the diamond and still get a pretty good runner. That’s impressive. Hit in the air center field Baldwin and makes the grab and there’s one away. Now the hitter. [Music] Now Trout gets a chance to hit. One for two. Great speed and great power. a great athlete. Quite simply, when you have a real athletic player and who’s able to do the baseball mechanical things now, this ball is well hit. This one’s got a chance and it slams off the bottom of the wall. One run is in. Cut off now. Go home. He’s in there. It’s 4-1. Well, here we are. Third time through the order. And this is where we see the OPS jump up. manager might have to go to the bullpen a little bit sooner than he anticipated. Here comes a skipper out of the dugout and he’s ready to make the move. Shawn Burke done for the night and he’s not going to be happy with himself. New pitcher on the mound in a moment. White Sox going with a new arm. Davis Martin. He doesn’t get a lot of strikeouts compared to other relievers, so he relies on getting that soft contact and the defense doing work behind him. They’ll have to be on their toes with him on the bump. One out, runner at second. And here’s the first baseman, Nolan Shanuel. Just missed. and they’re swinging a miss. One out and a runner at second. Swing and a ball hit out towards left center field and that’ll fall for a base hit. They extend their lead as the runner scores from second. It’s an RBI single and they lead by four. Well done. Drives in the run. That ball right there landed in what they call a no man’s land. Meaning it’s not really a spot on the field where you can expect anyone to get to it easily. I mean, it’s a tough play going back for the shortstop, but also for the outfielders trying to come in. They got to go a long way as well. Now, here is Taylor Ward. Still only one out here in the inning. And that is cut on and miss. That is strike two. Knowing that the pitcher wants a ground ball double play opportunity here. You’ve got to lay off pitches down in the zone right there. Swinging at that pitch. That’s a no no. Sharp grounder. That’s through for a base hit. They fired in quickly. So, it’s first and second with only one away. Well, that certainly feels good when you can win the at bat after being down in the count up against it with two strikes right there. You got that front foot down and pitch recognition was on point. Pretty impressive for an 02 count. And now Joe Adele just missed. and there’s a ball. He hasn’t wanted to challenge him. Both of those pitches off the plate away. Don’t expect anything down the heart of the plate. You may just have to be patient and take your walk here. Two and0 to Cal. Here it comes. And another ball. Good pitchers make pitches in big situations. And right here with a middle of the order hitter off, runner in scoring position. He’s got to find a way to throw a quality strike. Runners at first and second with one gone. Swinging at a highf fly ball. Well struck. Baldwin ranging back. grabs it right up against the wall. Now that here is Dardo. That’s a strike across the top of the zone. Looked pretty good as far as being in the strike zone, but I’m sure as a hitter not too good with where it was located. Very top of the strike zone. Middle away. Yeah, the pitch is in for a strike. And it’s 0 and two. Shadow on second. Ward at first, two out of the inning. Hit in the air out to center field. Baldwin and the inning is over. Three runs, four hits, no errors, but two are left stranded. We played four, Angels five and the White Socks won. Back in Anaheim, we go to the top of the fifth and now the switch in catcher Edgar Caro. misses just off the outside edge. I think that was a strike. You know, these White Socks just aren’t putting great swings on the baseball in this one. Just one extra base hit for them, so they haven’t exactly been hitting the ball gap to gap or out of the park. That makes it really difficult to generate runs. And that’s in the dirt. [Music] Next offering misses down and away. [Music] Fouled off again and it remains three and two. to third. Newman. He didn’t make things easy for him there, but they still get the out. Well, he’s doing a nice job of keeping the ball out of the air. Lets the defense work behind him with another ground ball. Good execution. So up next, Coulson Montgomery and first offering is fouled off and that one popped in the air. left field puts it away for the out. Two away now. Luis Robert Jun. Two down, base is empty. Luis Robert Jr. the next to hit. He’s 0 for one. Edge of the zone for a strike. 0 and one. Next offering is fouled back. Two down, nobody on. And we’re in the top of the fifth. Next offering is down low. The delivery to Robert and the one two misses to even the count. Two balls, two strikes. Cut on and miss. And it’s a strike out. And that is the inning. Down in order go to White Socks. They’re down here five to one. And we’re back ready to go for the last half of the inning. So in now for the Angels. Luis Rangifo. First pitch misses. You know, these Angels putting together some really good at bats in this game. There’s been a lot to like with how they’re approaching their chances at the plate. It looked to me like they really wanted to get to the starter early, get him out of the game before he settles in. So, I’d say mission accomplished. Lifted in the air down the left side and Ben Tendy able to make the grab now. Right. Digging in is the switch in outfielder. Oh, can’t pick it up cleanly. Safe at first. No play. We’ll see how they score this man at first with one gone. And next for LA, Kevin Newman. And first offering is fouled off popped up. Sosa he makes the catch and there’s two down. Up next, the Angels. Back to the top of the Angels lineup. Now it’s the Angels leadoff man, Zack Neto. The shorts stop takes the ball. Ruer takes off. Pitch misses. Throw to second. Out at second. That ends the inning. Well, trying to get in the scoring position, but a great catch and throw to end the inning. That’s the way to pick up the pitcher. And welcome back to the ballpark. Top six. Here’s the second baseman, Lenny Sosa. Hris back to work. Swing and a hard hit liner up the middle and a base hit. Had a good start to the inning. Brooks Baldwin now at the plate. Singled and scored his first time. Get two. Now a screamer into the outfield. And there’s one down. Batting right. Back to the top of the White Sox lineup. Stepping in the White Sox lead off man Mike Tman. Now, these guys definitely looking for a big swing of the bat right here. Try to close that gap. But, you know, at the very least, if you could find a way to manufacture that run from first, it feels like it’s really important to getting back into this ball game. Sosa leads off first with one away. [Music] He swings and fouls one off. Right through there for a strike. That wasn’t an easy pitch to hit. It’s much easier to do damage against mistakes, but that’s not what that pitch was. right through there. Got him. And he’s registered three Ks in this one. I can’t argue with that one. And clearly he was looking for something else. Anything but the breaking ball. It’s a great pitch to hit right there if you’re looking for it. And kind of a gift in a two- strike count, but sometimes you just get fooled and you got to tip your cap. My draw the next to hit takes ball one. My draw measures 5′ 10 in 23 years old and he was drafted in the fourth round in 2022 and a breaking ball drops in for a strike. Well, this looks like it’s going to be a wasted opportunity. It’s frustrating when you get the leadoff man on, but you can’t get him into scoring position. They’re going to need a big knock. Try to put something up on the board. [Music] That one the other way and a base hit. And now to a board. Now batting leftielder Andrew Benendi Benendi to the plate for two in this one. That’s in there. Strike one. First and second, two down and we’re the top half of the sixth. And that drops in for a strike. Well, he didn’t like those first two pitches. Now in an O2 hole, he’s going to have to battle. Hope he gets a mistake. That one just misses. And the count one and two. Doublebarreled action in the bullpen. Jose Soraniano getting loose out there. Kihara the lefty warming up as well. Two on, two outs. Got him. Make it four strikeouts for him on the bump today. Two left on. Top of the order. Do up in the home half of the six. Angels five and the White Socks one. Bottom of the six. Here’s the shorts stop at the plate. Zack Neto, just missed. Counts one and0. And that’s outside. No strike. Misses again. Five in a row. Next offering is fouled back. 32 and they’ll do it again. I wouldn’t throw him another breaking ball. Try to go again with a fast ball. Slightly elevated. He just having a hard time catching up. headed towards the corner. Tuckman pulls it down. One up, one down. They’re now batting Mike Trout. [Music] And that misses ball one. And a strike in there. Backto-back fast balls in. That last one called for a strike. Probably go away, but look for him to come back in there to try to finish you off. [Music] Next offering is in for a strike. He’s been able to go inside as well as outside, effectively working both sides of the plate in this at bat. And a curve misses outside. Struck him out looking. Just couldn’t pull the trigger on the fast ball right there. And I don’t think he was taking it thinking it might be a cold ball or anything. I just think he was flat out frozen. Did not expect that location in my opinion. hard ground ball base knock and that keeps the inning going. So now it’s the fourhole hitter Taylor Ward one for three. There’s the strike. Come on, Angel. The next pitch misses. It’s a ball in two strikes. That’s down and in. Shadow off of first with two away. This one popped up. Foul ground first base side. Vargas makes the grab. That is the inning. Angels strand one. They’re up 5-1. Top of inning number seven. Here’s the cleanup hitter for the Socks, Miguel Vargas. Nice curveball for a strike. Boo. That hook’s looking pretty sharp today. Just a solid pitching performance so far. And I really think it’s because of that curveball. Pop foul out of play off to the right. Yeah, that skips into there. The one two fouled off the plate. They’ll do it again. [Music] Foul ball still a one and two count. And that’s in the dirt. Swing and a ball popped in the air and that is fouled. Quite the matchup we’re seeing here. Six foul balls in this atbat alone. Really making them work out there. that one back up the middle and it gets through. So he ends up with a hit after seeing a lot of pitches. That was a good at bat. I don’t think that pitch would have been called a strike, but he did such a nice job of pulling his hands tight to the body and just getting enough of the barrel on it to be hard enough back up the middle for a knock. Now the Angels manager is out of the dugout and he’ll make a move to the pen. Kyle Hendris will depart and he exits with a nice lead. Threw the ball well and we’ll have a new pitcher when we come back. Jose Soraniano comes on now and he’s done a great job keeping the ball in the park this year. The numbers stack up with some of the best in the game. Man at first. Now here is Edgar Carol in the dirt. If you’re going to get something going, this is the time to do it. You get the leadoff man on. Everybody’s got to look over the shoulder and say, “I’m just going to keep the line moving.” Don’t try to do too much. And that one is lifted in the air. Adele going after it. And it’s caught for the out. So a man aboard Coulson Montgomery getting ready to hit. He is singled and he is fly to left. Here’s a high-fly ball out to center. Adele moves under it, makes the catch for the out, and there’s two away. Now ready, the designated hitter, Luis Robert Jr. And now here’s the big center fielder, Luis Robert. And first offering is fouled off. The Halos leading by four here in the top half of inning number seven. and misses inside. [Music] [Music] Popped up. Ranifo on his way over. He’s there. He’s got it. And that is that. starting to run out of outs as they’re unable to chip away. Seventh inning stretch time, Angels five and the White Socks one. [Music] We’re back in a new pitcher here to start the bottom of the seventh, Steven Wilson. Well, walks have certainly been an issue for him this season, so we’ll see what kind of command he has. Digging in Joe Adele, a former first round pick and he’s really turned into a nice everyday player. That’s a little bit low. And that is out of play. swings and blasts one deep to left center. Back there gone off the rocks in center. Touch him all time. He sends it out of here. It’s 6-1 [Music] [Music] for a pitcher. The odds are in your favor if you keep that breaking ball down. That time he got punished for it. Hitter just did a really good job of staying within himself and getting the barrel to the baseball. Travis Darno will come up to hit and there’s a foul ball. Nobody on, nobody out with a run in here. The bottom of the seventh. That one misses and it’s one and one. Activity in the pen for the White Socks. Dan Altilla appears to be getting loose. Hit softly on the ground to third, but that rolls foul. Smoked on the ground to second. Throws to first in time and one away in the bottom of the seventh. Luis Reano. Luis Ranifo will hit next. And a good fast ball to start him off. That’s strike one. And that one fouled off. One down. Base is empty. Pitch is in the dirt. Now one and two. Fast ball is outside. swing and a miss struck him out. Now it’s the right fielder. Pitch is in there and that’s strike one. 0 and one. That was the sweeper, but it missed. Swing and a miss as he was late that time. It might be time to choke up a little bit. Get that front foot down early. Maybe even just spread out. He’s really late right now. Right. Two down. Do on. Swung on. Popped up on the infield. My draw and puts the squeeze on that one. And the inning is over. But the Angels add to the lead on this solo blast. And this is now a 61 ball game. You’re watching Major League Baseball exclusively on the show. Back in Anaheim, we’re at the top of the eighth. Now it’s the second baseman, Lenny Sosa. The right-hander back to work. And that’s fouled off on the ground to first. And he takes it himself for the out. And here is Brooks Baldwin. That one in triple digits. Oh, don’t expect too many more high fast balls. This is a good sinker ball pitcher and sometimes they can make mistakes trying to pitch up in the zone. Look for him to stay down around the knees to be effective. Next offering is in for a strike. And it’s fouled off. They’ll do it again. One out. Base is empty. Close one. Doesn’t get the call. That’s one. Well, as a pitcher, when you make a big pitch down around the knees and don’t get the call, it’ll lead at you out there. So, some handle it a little bit better than others. And right here, clearly letting the ump hear it a little bit. Swing and a miss. Splitter in the dirt. Darnell on first, gets the out. Two down after the strike out. Well, he didn’t get the call on the mound the pitch before. Felt like he should have had him looking, I think. But, you know, that’s good composure right there. He found a way to come back with another good pitch to get him to swing and miss. Two outs, space is empty. And now the right fielder, Mike Tman. That one finds the zone. That’s strike one. [Music] That clips the corner. Manager knows that his players are just trying to do too much. Everybody needs just take a deep breath, relax, and let it naturally happen. Just off the outside edge. Now one and two. Out there to center. tracks it down for the out and that is that. Three up, three down for him there. Home half of inning number eight. Straight ahead, it’s the Angels six and the White Socks won. Jonathan Cannon into the game. I think it’s got to be a little tough coming in out of the pin when your guys are trailing so big on the scoreboard. just doesn’t have the same intensity to it. But he’s got to find a way because these batters count the same for his stats obviously regardless of the score. Here’s the third baseman, Kevin Newman. Newman. And the first pitch misses for ball one. Right through there for a strike. And a ground ball to first. The flip to the pitcher covering. Lead off man is out here in the eighth. Zackto. So digging in Zack Neto. Come on, let’s go. And that one upstairs. [Music] That one ripped but fouled. Base is empty. One away. The bottom half of the eighth inning. Check. Swing. No appeal. Swing and a ground ball. Base hit right field. So they get a man aboard with a one out single. So now here’s the DH Mike Trout. And there’s the strike. And that’s a great take right there. Even though it’s a strike with the situation, runner on first base, you want to keep the ball off the ground. And you swing at that pitch, most likely you roll into a double play. Montgomery off balance feed. There’s one double play and that’ll do it for the inning. No runs, one hit, no errors, and no one left. Ninth inning coming up. It’s the Angels six and the White Socks won. We go to the ninth. Now it’s the short stop. Chase Maid Soraniano back to work. First pitch swinging and it’s a knock and the leadoff man aboard. That’s backto- back singles for him. That pretty much split the zone down the middle and those are the ones where you got to make them pay. Andrew Benendi steps up 0 for three with two strikeouts and a ground out. First pitch doesn’t find the zone. Soraniano, a righty that throws with power. He features a sinker, a slur, a four seamer, a splitter, and he works in a slider. way inside gets out of the way. Next offering is outside. MRO aboard here at first with nobody out. Next offering is fouled back and ball four to a board. Well, we’ve seen this recipe cook up a big inning plenty of times. Two runners on, nobody out. and they’re in the heart of their order. It’s just a great opportunity to put up a crooked number. First and second, no outs. And next will be the cleanup hitter, Miguel Vargas. And that’s in for a strike. There it was. A high velocity fastball in the zone. I think a little frustration from walking the previous hitter. He’s got good stuff. Pitch inside the zone and trust it. Outside low and one and one. Oh, that pitch is out. It’s a big opportunity right here. But I love the way he’s slowing the game down. He’s shrinking his zone, making sure he gets the pitch that he wants to hit. That’s foul off to the right side. Keeps the AB going. First and second here. No outs. Now it’s three and two. Ground ball left side and that’s just fouled. Three and two now. This to center field and that’ll fall for a base hit. They won’t test it here. Base is loaded. No outs. Number seven, manager out of the dugout and he’s going to make a change. Jose Soraniano gives way and he leaves with the bases loaded. So he’ll look for some help from his teammate coming in behind him. Kenley Jansen comes out trying to close it out. Save opportunity for him right here. And he’s their guy. Time to lock this one down and get out of here with the W. Base is loaded. Nobody out. Edgar Caro steps to the plate for the White Socks. 0 for three with two fly outs and a ground out. Line drive down the line and it’s fouled. Bases loaded, nobody out here in the top of the ninth. And now the count is even. Tapped at the play, but it’s a foul ball. And that one misses up and in. Two and two. Definitely got the hitter conscious of the pitch inside. Really think the outer half is open. got him looking and that is a big first out. Well, he wasn’t happy with that called third strike in and off the plate and I I think he’s right. I mean, that miss, it’s a really tough one though for an umpire back there. So, I don’t think you can be too mad at him. It looks like it’s in the zone the entire way coming in until those last few feet. So, I’d say pretty easy to understand why he’d say it clipped the corner. Just a nice bit. The batter now Coulson Montgomery and that is in for a strike. Go and one. One out. Base is full. That’s out to center field. Drops into the glove. Runner tags for home. The throw is offline and he’s in to score. It’s 62. Good piece of hitting right there. He’s thinking off the bat that’s getting down for extra bases, but nice job of the outfielder running it down, making the catch. Still comes away with the sack fly though. RBI. White Socks down to their final out. Luis Robert Jr. steps to the plate for the White Socks. That one missed. And that one wrapped foul. Two outs. Swinging a foul straight back. [Music] The White Socks down to their final strike. Swing and a miss. Struck him out. And that is the ball game. Start of a new month is a great chance to hit the reset button. Whether you’re coming in hot or cold, getting that win today is a great feeling to continue through the rest of the month. And your final six-2. Kenley Jansson picking up the save for Chris Singleton and our entire outstanding crew here at MLB the show. I’m John Shami. Thanks for joining us.
