FULL TRADE..who won?

  1. Trading away stars hasnt worked in 20 years so I’ll say the Padres.

Also fucking Profar was this exact same prospect 15 years ago and he is firmly on my list of most hated A’s ever. These guys miss

  2. I’ll let you know in three years. The rush to judge and define winners and losers immediately is a fools errand.

  3. Fuck you john. I’m now a free agent fan. Isn’t the trade deadline great. Even we can walk out on your lame ass

  4. Of course the Padres won. Even if De Vries turns into an elite player, that just means the A’s caught the one out of three times that this trade is positive value for them.

This isn’t like some NBA team trading for Cooper Flagg- baseball talent evaluation is so much more of a guessing game. Padres got a cheap sure thing, and as always the A’s are staying even cheaper and hoping to get lucky.

  5. I know the comments here are negative, but A’s FLEECED here. Just go to Padres reddit to see how unhappy they are.

Also kind of ironic that both sides are seemingly not happy with this trade. Like seriously, A’s won this trade easily.

  6. Nett and Baez could develop into middling starters. De Vries is very likely just another one of those overhyped MIs that the organization has coveted in trades over the past 15 years who will develop into a light-hitting utility guy, and Nunez is a dime a dozen MR.

  7. Going to be hard to tell, but the padres fans are very upset about losing De Vries

  8. Made this point in the breaking news thread, but it’s kind of irrelevant because if any of the prospects reach close to stardom, they’re getting Mason Millered in a few year anyway. The cycle of FJF continues downward!

  9. I guess my A’s jersey with Velcro and replaceable numbers/letters should fully come to fruition now

  10. This is a great trade for the A’s. We have no use for miller. He’s regressed this year and a high caliber closer on a last place team is like a beachfront property in Idaho.

  11. Don’t the A’s have a 23 year old all-star rookie SS?

I get that it’s all trade bait at this time so honestly, whatever. I think most likely they’re going to keep acquiring and then moving young talent until a stadium is built and then they’ll try to push forward to be competitive with whoever is still there.

  12. The A’s traded one of the most electric arms in baseball for an 18 year old injury prone SS and parts. Franklin Barretto much.

Legit I don’t know how this franchise has any remaining fans.

This is not a Major League Baseball club.

    FJF Forever

    SELL THE FUCKING TEAM!!!!!!!

  13. As of right now, the A’s for sure. If you’re going to trade a player like Miller, this is the return you should be aiming for. The goal was always going to be to build a team for Vegas, when/if that happens, and this is a great move towards achieving that goal. We’ll see if he pans out, but that’s just the gamble you have to take when if given the chance at getting the 3rd best prospect overall and you aren’t planning on being competitive for a few more years. I know Miller still 4 more years of control, but that’s just added leverage for the A’s.

The real question what are the A’s going to do if he DOES pan out. This ultimately depends on the next CBA, but if they don’t end up implement a cap ceiling and De Vries warrants a payday, are they going to follow their word and offer a contract good enough he doesn’t walk away? Or are they going to continue the cycle of being the league’s farm system? If the A’s get that stadium built and Fisher doesn’t sell, it would not surprise me in the slightest if they use the ever-rising stadium costs as an excuse to not spend.

Personally, as long as Fisher is the majority owner my expectations are very, very low. He just doesn’t appear to be a good businessman whatsoever and is the full embodiment of an entitled nepo baby. But we’ll see lmao

  14. Yall fleeced. Pretty lateral move in terms of organization quality however I’d like to see how they develop knowing the pinnacle is a minor league park for the next few years

  15. Ahh yes only
Been a couple of hours so we
Can definitely tell who won and who lost

  16. With the A’s, it doesn’t matter. Their pattern remains the same: Trade guys like Miller(whos just becoming great player)for a prospect who’s cheaper and under team control. Same with the Pirates and Skenes. They won’t build around him, only trade him before he becomes a free agent.

  17. I’m very optimistic about this trade. If there’s one thing the A’s are good at, it’s scouting shortstops. I mean look at Franklin Barreto, Addison Russell, Grant Green…

  18. As a casual A’s fan,  the A’s are gonna be mashing especially if the Amish can keep it up he could be second coming of the Giambino

  19. I believe we won this trade, however the problem is, if we’re not in a new stadium soon and start winning these prospects become stars and the team is not winning, then they will be traded away quickly.
