MLB LIVE🔴 Los Angeles Dodgers vs Tampa Bay Rays – Aug 1, 2025 | Full Game MLB 2025 EN VIVO

and welcome into the ballpark. Happy to have you with us. Inner league baseball on MLB the show. It’s the Los Angeles Dodgers taking on the Tampa Bay Rays. First pitch coming your way next. just about ready to go. Getting the nod in this one, Shane Bos. But Chris, he hasn’t exactly been stellar here on his home mound. Well, I’ll say this, every player wants to perform well at their home ballpark, in front of their fans, in front of the city. And you know, this guy no different. He wants to be more effective here. So, you know, you look at the numbers, they haven’t been great at home. I’m sure he wants to turn that around. and we’ll see if he’s able to start that in this one. And at the plate for the Dodgers, Mookie Betts that one outside and this one is off and running. Yeah, that fast ball at the bottom of the zone can be very effective. Just got to keep it on the corners. Turns and fires ball. And there’s a foul ball. swing and a miss. Struck him out. Well, that slider down and away, it’s just kind of a slow death, but two strikes you’re looking to protect and halfway to the plate, you know you’ve committed and you know you’re going to have no chance of touching it. Tell you what, sometimes you just have to tip your cap. Estee Yuri Ruiz steps to the plate for the Dodgers. Come on. And that one clips the corner. Ruiz 26 years old and he’s usually in the outfield. Today he’s the DH. One out. Base is empty. it on the ground to short. Waltz whips it to first on the run. It’s there and that’s a great play. Time to check out the Dodgers lineup. This team can really pile up the runs, Chris. They’re among the top teams in scoring this year. Yeah, and when you can get a lead and be out in front, it really changes what that opposing manager can do with the bullpen. And on top of that, it helps your own pitching staff. It gives them more margin for error. So instead of pitchers squeezing the ball, trying to throw darts and be perfect, they can relax, let the ball come out of their hands and pitch effectively. So that offense and the ability to score runs also helps the pitching and the defense. Camero over to first and Hernandez is out and it’s a one, two, three inning. Nothing doing for the Dodgers here. Now it’s the Rays turn. No score. It’s Major League Baseball on the show. Back here with my pal Singi and today’s starter, Dustin May. What do we have on him? Well, you can see his whip is a little above the league average. Not bad, but I think in this one he’s going to need to control that a little bit better. Try to limit hitters from getting on base. Stay in that wind up instead of the stretch. And when he does allow base runners, be able to throw a pitch. He’s going to get a swing and miss. get out of the inning so that a base hit doesn’t do more damage and put his team behind the eightball. Bunting for him and that’s fouled. And there’s the strike. Good heater at 98. Definitely not a pitch location you’re expecting up there as a hitter when you know the guy’s got a good sinker ball. If he can get in that location, boy, you’ve got to look top to bottom and that’s going to make it very difficult to hit. And Chris, that’s a way to neutralize his speed by keeping him off base. And the defense breathes a sigh of relief because he puts pressure on everyone if he can put the ball in play. But that’s how you do it. Keep him off balance, get him out of there, and deal with the next guy. One down. Base is empty. And another ball. Liner caught at second. All right, let’s take a look at the Rays lineup. And Chris, this group has been struggling to put up runs lately. Well, they haven’t been on base a ton, and even when they are, they haven’t been hitting very well with runners on base. So, they need a player or two to really step up, have some quality at bats, hit according to the situation, and sort of break out of this. I think if they do, the rest of this lineup will follow. Jonathan. Jonathan Aranda at the plate and takes high there. Two down on a little bit low ball. Two balls, no strikes in the air left side and that’s the inning. Scoreless after one. Back now in Tampa Bay. Top of the second. Now it’s the Dodger cleanup hitter, Freddy Freeman. Very humble guy and you know on the field, off the field, and he goes about his at bats in that way. Boog. He’s, you know, just trying to stay with the plan. And that plan is hit the ball to left center field, drive the ball that way, let it travel. Yep. Well, we call that keyhole. Even though it’s right there and looks pretty good, if he doesn’t love it, he’s not going to swing that early in the count. in the air left field down the line. Tracks it down for the out. And there’s one away. Well, those can be pretty fun as an outfielder. Got to put it into his highest gear and go a long way to track that one down. Nothing better than that. You feel like a wide receiver playing football. Andy Pope in the box now. No balls in a strike. Looks like a really good fast ball today. You can hear that catcher mitt popping. Looking forward to hearing a lot of that one in this one. One down. Base is empty. That breaking ball is in for a strike. And quickly it is nothing at two. That’s a really good job of laying off the O2 high fast ball is going to make that pitcher really have to respect this hitter even though he’s behind in the count. Next offering upstairs. Swing and a miss for the strike out. Couldn’t catch up to the heater. Two outs. Base is empty. Michael Conforto steps to the plate for the Dodgers. And first offering is fouled off. No score here in the second. Next offering is fouled back. Two outs. Cut out and miss. Struck him out. and he’s registered three Ks in this one. No runs, no hits, no errors. Now to the bottom of the second. No score. Bottom half of inning number two down to third base for Junior Camro coming May back to work on the ground to the left and that’s just foul. Wow. 01 now and downstairs. Next offering is outside. That’s outside and now three and one. First pitch strike from the pitcher, but then no panic at all by the hitter. Very patient, showing good discipline. Now he’s in the driver’s seat with a 3-1 count. Fouls one away. And now three and two. And that’s a strike out looking. That was pretty nasty. Josh Low now at the plate. Outside. One and0. Slapped foul. fights that one away. Still one and two. And that’s outside. Strike three and that’s two in a row. Off to a strong start, Singy as he’s punched out three of the first five he’s faced. Well, he’s definitely minimizing contact. He can get the swing and miss when he needs it, but he’ll also keep the defense fresh behind him, allowing some balls in play as well. Jake Mangum in the box with two gone and takes a look at a called strike. check swing. He went and that’s strike two. No balls. Two strikes. Two down. Doon in winter. It’s a ball and two strikes on the ground of first. He takes it himself to the bag and that’ll do it. Down in order go the Rays. We’ll move to the third with no score. Back here at Tropicana Field onto the third inning and now it’s switch hitting third baseman Tommy Edmond first offering and it just misses. Yeah, there’s the strike. popped up, stretches out and holds it in. Well, he gave the bunt a shot there, but not able to execute. Yeah, I think he rushed it a little bit. And when guys rush, can be a popup or can be bunted right back at a position player. Dalton rushing now in the box. Comes up empty with a swing there. swing and a miss and he got him to chase. Well, this could be kind of frustrating for the hitting coach right now. This lineup seems to be swinging at everything and a swing and a miss. Make it four strikeouts for him on the bump today. Well, take a look at the three pitch sequence here. pretty simple in terms of putting them away at the plate. Once you’re ahead 02 as a pitcher, you can really expand the zone and see how aggressive that hitter is going to be trying to protect and battle. And right there, clearly he was in swing mode, but all you can do is hope to foul that off. Miguel Rojas at the plate. Check swing. He went too far and it’s a strike. No balls, one strike. Two out. Base is empty. Next pitch misses way outside. Good eye right there. Really good take, especially with two strikes. That misses the zone and the count’s full. Mookie bets up next for the Dodgers. And here it comes. Pop up here. Third base side. Dice in position. Pulls it down and he makes the catch. And that is that. Dodgers down in order. And we are still scoreless. And we’re back. Set for the bottom of the third. Now up for Tampa Bay. Tristan Gray looking for his first big league hit right here swinging a highf fly ball out there towards left field and out number one on the grab. He was all over that first pitch fast. Just barely missed it. Man, this guy was ready to hit. Stepping in, Taylor Walls singing he’s never finished the season with more stolen bases in his entire career. Line drive base hit. So man aboard now with one away. Wastes no time there split the zone down the middle and those are the ones where you got to make them pay. Matt Feice comes up to hit here. Swinging a foul out of play. Close but called a ball and the count is one and one. Oh, he’s really working him away this at bat. Sometimes take a little bit off velocity. Try to get a roll over something on the ground. Stay away from that big hole on the right side of the infield. Ball that’s high, man. At first, one away. Next offering is fouled back this one in the air. Rojos drifts towards it and there’s two away. Good hard fast ball up in the zone right there. They look really good coming in, but so hard to get on top of as a hitter. Simpson. So, the lineup flips over. Here’s the Rays leadoff hitter. His first at bat was a strikeout. Ball one there. That’s a ball. 10. Swing and a chopper out to short and it finds its way through for a hit. And now first and second with two outs. The batter number two designated Yni Diazi. He’s 0 for one. swings through that one. 0 and one. Zero balls, one strike. Let’s go, baby. your leg. Lifted in the air right field. Hernandez gets under it and that will end the inning. So the Rays strand a pair. Still no score. as we go to the top of the fourth. Now it’s the Dodger leadoff hitter Mookie Betts. Bets. Pitch misses inside. Ball one. Betts, goes 5’9 in, 32 years old, and he was a fifthround pick back in 2011. Delivers a pitch in for a strike at 95. The 1-1 is fouled off and that skips into dirt. Check swing on the 2- two appeal to first and Woody Keller right on it. Says he held up. Hard hit left side. Fires across the diamond. Lead off hitter retired in the fourth. Nevada number one designated hitter Esturi. Estee Yuri Ruiz steps to the plate for the Dodgers. Grounded out his first time off. Swing and a hard hit grounder to third and it goes just foul. line drive falls it in for the out. It’s never fun going back to the dugout after hitting a line drive that finds a glove. But you will get some high fives. You know, when you make great contact, you feel like you’ve done everything right. But in this game of baseball, not everything is in your control. swinging a ground ball up the middle. Throws to first in time and Hernandez is out. And he has thrown four shut out innings. So 12 up, 12 down to begin the ball game. We’re tied nothing nothing and welcome back to the ballpark. John Chami and Chris Singleton with you. And leading off the bottom of the fourth, Jonathan Orlando swing fouled to the left. Here we go. Here we go. That one is absolutely belted. It’s a ball. A solo shot and the Rays take the lead. It’s one- nothing. That’s a fun way to take the lead. Just hit one out of the park. So, Singy, this is a little bit of a surprise. A guy known for line drives hits one over the fence. Well, if you’re a little too early, you’ll get some elevation in the ball. Get out of the ballpark. For him, it’s kind of a mistake. But you know what? When you have such a good approach, every now and then you’re going to run into one. Here’s the third baseman, Junior Camro. Struck out looking at his first at bat. delivers a pitch in for a strike at 95. Nobody on, nobody out with a run in. We’re here in the bottom of the fourth. 02 count. Both pitches on the inside part of the plate. Hitter is thinking, I don’t want to get beat here. This is a good time for something all speed away. And that’s in the dirt. Two strikes in the dirt and it’s two and two. Knocks that one away and we’ll do it again. One run across in the frame so far. The Rays leading on the solo homer. And now the count is full. And another power hitter lurking in the deck circle. Good job to fight that one off. May fires, spoils a two- strike pitch, and he’ll see another. Oh, he’s desperately looking for that swing and miss. He’s going to have to just change speeds a little bit, try to move it around, create just a little bit of illusion at the end. keeps the atbat going with a foul ball. Misses. It’s a strike out. He’s locked in at the plate when he’s using the whole field. He was out in front there. Just needs to let the ball travel a little more and his timing will be back on track. Good pitch for the strike out. So, next to the plate for Tampa Bay, Josh Low. That one’s in there. 0 and one. 01. and strike two quickly in an 02 count. You’ve got to figure out a way to shorten your path to the baseball. Put it in play somewhere. Then you got a chance. And boy and that just misses. Oh, that’s a ball. That’s foul off to the right side. Keeps the AB going. fights it off. He’ll see another in the air to left down the line. Two away now. The batting the left fielder Jake two down base is empty. Jake Mangum next to hit for the Rays. 0 for one. He grounded out in his first at bat. Clips the corner and that’s strike one. Well, he’s been incredibly efficient in this one. First pitch strike percentage over 70%. That’s well above league average and that’s what’s allowed him to pitch well up until this point. Foul ball there. Two outs. Up and in. Now one and two. Stays alive. short hop liner. Handled it short. Bet swifts it to first. That ends the frame. And the Rays get one on a solo shot. It’s now one- nothing. Ready now for the fifth inning. So now it’s Freddy Freeman. Number five, Freddy Freeman. Bos back to work. Just you know, these Dodgers just aren’t putting together very many good at bats in this one. We’re in the back half of the game and they’re still searching for a base runner. He’s been great out there on the mound, no doubt. But it’s also been a disappointing performance at the plate to this point. That’s a strike across the top of the zone. And as we get deeper, it’s not going to get any easier. These at bats are going to feel more and more desperate with every out the rest of the way. That one fouled off. Hard grounder into the outfield for a knock. Man aboard on the leadoff single. He was all over that one. I know that was a ground ball, but it was absolutely hammered through the infield. That’s not one you’re excited to get in front of if you’re an infielder. You know, they used to say charge it crazy. Andy Pahes steps to the plate for the Dodgers. Struck out swinging his first time. Runner on the go. Swinging a miss. Throws. And the tying run is now in scoring position. Tying run and scoring position. And we’re in the top of the fifth. One one and a count one and two. Chase is in the dirt. slider there in time and the drop third strike leads to the first out and the runner holds. You know, you often think of sliders more for that horizontal movement, but most of the good ones have both vertical depth and that horizontal movement and that’s what we saw right there. Good drop on the break and got him to swing over the top. And here is Michael Conforto. He was a strikeout victim his first time. Fought off foul. And that’s a strike. Fouls it back with two strikes. And it’s fouled off. They’ll do it again. Yeah, with two strikes here, you really want to miss outside the zone with that breaking ball. Man, it’s second and a foul ball. He stays alive. caught him looking for the K. Well, even if you don’t feel great about it, you got to swing the bat with two strikes in this situation. You’ve got the tying run out there in scoring position. Just put the ball in play. Maybe something good will happen. It just didn’t look like he understood the situation. Here’s a switch hitter, Tommy Edmond. And that misses. That’s ball one. One out. Left field. Mango in and to his right. He’s got it. And that’s the third out. So the Dodgers leave one. They trail here one- nothing. Back now in Tampa Bay. Here’s the second base, Tristan Gray. And there’s one thing on his mind this at bat, getting that first hit at the big league level. And that’s the inside edge. Ball one. Well, these Rays, simply put, are producing a lot of quality swings. They’ve hit seven line drives already, and even though some of them have been for outs, there’s nothing wrong with delivering consistent hard contact. That’s almost always going to lead to positive results. And the next pitch is way outside. And a breaking ball drops in for a strike. Taylor Walls getting ready to hit one for one with a single so far. That clips the corner. One down. Base is empty. swing and a miss. And that’s strike two. 0 and two. And that one upstairs. Ball one. I don’t think he was trying to miss by that much in an 02 count. Just tried to overthrow that pitch. May come set. Fouls that off to the left and will do it again. Line drive and this might be trouble around first. Heading for two. in safely. It’s a double and his second hit. Wasting no time. He’s two for two now on the night and just a triple and home run away from the cycle. Seriously, we’re starting with this already. One out, runner at second. And now Matt Thice. First time up was a pop out. Swing and a ball. Ripped right field. That one back. And that one is gone. He sends it out of here. His second of the year. It’s 3 nothing. He only needed one swing to square it up. Not wasting any time in that bat, boo. Aggressive and it paid off. The hard sinker can be a pretty tough pitch because of the late life and movement, but somehow he got the barrel to that pitch. Stayed through it. Really nice job of staying on the backside until it was time to transfer that weight and a really nice home run. And the Dodgers will go to the bullpen. Dustin May out of the game and a decent effort considering he’s normally reliever. Back with the new pitcher in a minute. A new arm into the game. The righty Show Ot. He’s been so good against lefties. Oti. Oh yeah. Here’s the Rays leadoff hitter. One for two and he drops it down the third baseline. Has to bare hand it and he beats it. He’s safe. He was racing down the line and probably didn’t assume he was going to be safe until his foot hit the bag and looked up for the umpire. Nice bunt and great hustle to get himself a knock. And next is the designated hitter Yandi Diaz. Go for two in this one. And that one a little below the knees. And that is ball one. Still only one out here in the inning. There goes the runner. Pitch inside. Inside safe and second and he easily steals the bag. That one called a strike. Two and one now. Otani. He’s kind of a prototypical bullpen arm in today’s game. Electric stuff that results in a ton of strikeouts in a tough spot like this. That is a big time benefit. Yeah, that’s fouled off. No, as a hitter, when a guy like this comes into the game, you feel like he’s standing on top of you and it’s just attack mode coming right at you expecting to get a swinging miss. Some high cheese for strike three. Came inside with that two strike fast ball. nicely and just bunched him up on the inside part of the plate. Couldn’t get around on it and catch it out front. Many times if you do, it’s a foul ball. And you know, a lot of pitchers, they really don’t like working inside with two strikes because they do not want to hit that batter. And when they’ve got him up against the ropes, got to figure out a way to put them away. Did a nice job right there. Up for the third time and takes ball one. Runner at second. Two down. Last half of inning number five. There’s the strike. One and one. The one two. That one almost got him. And a swing and a miss. And that’s that. The Rays with a two-run homer. It’s now three nothing. You’re watching Major League Baseball on the show back here at Tropicana Field. New inning getting started. And now the catcher comes up to him. Dalton rushing. at 96. That pitch is in for a strike. Well, the offense has gotten going and a pitcher wants to go out there, have a real quick inning, get those guys back into the dugout so those bats can stay hot. Next offer in there for a strike and it’s nothing and two. Well, this guy on the mountain’s done a lot better than we would have expected and the hitters just don’t seem to have the right game plan. They’re taking too many mistake pitches for called strikes. Gets a piece and it stays 0 and2. That one missed. Two two. This one lifted in the air left field. Mangum puts it away for the out and there’s one down. Oh, I think the key I mean if he can get through one more inning, anything after that, a hitter or two is bonus, but they should be lined up good enough to get to the finish line. Rojas batting with one down, takes a strike. The Dodgers trailing by three and we’re the top half of the sixth. Fast ball is outside. Outside. That one hit to right. Low grabs it on the run. Mookie Betts now made his debut with the Red Sox in 2014 and actually hit home run against the Dodgers in 2016. Yeah, that’s pretty cool. Mookie is fantastic for baseball. A great player, big personality. He’s played for some of the most popular teams in the league. Pop foul out of play off to the right. Let’s go. Off the mark there and it’s one and two. Now, this manager knows that his players are just trying to do too much. Everybody needs to just take a deep breath, relax, and let it naturally happen. All right. Two down, Doman. That missed by one. And that’s ball two. Well, this is a guy that can be frustrating for pitchers because he fouls off so many pitches and grinds out the atbat. I’m sure there’s sometimes where pitcher would rather just give up a first pitch single than have to waste six or seven pitches on one hitter. Not close with that one. And the count’s full. Good battle here. About to be the eighth pitch of the at bat. And they’ll do it again. Swinging a foul ball at the plate. They’ll do it again. battling here as he fouls it away. About to see the 11th pitch of the at here. Swings through it and that’s a strikeout. So another good inning for him on the mound. Six shutout innings now. Rays three and the Dodgers nothing. And we’re back on the third base. Junior Camroman Junior coming pitch misses inside. One and0 poo. He never moved cuz he never had time to. With that kind of velocity, you’d prefer that pitcher work away. Swing and a miss. And that one missed by a ton. Man, that was pretty gross right there. So, a foul ball makes it one and two. I wouldn’t throw him another breaking ball. Try to go again with a fast ball. Slightly elevated. He just having a hard time catching up. Swinging a ground ball and foul ball fans another and that’s three straight strikeouts. Well, they’ve had a great plan of attack for him tonight. I mean, finding all the holes in his swing and his approach just frustrating for him up there. You strike out a guy three times in a game. I think that guy’s got to go back and really study some video with his hitting coach, figure out how they’re beating him, make this adjustment really quick because Word will get around the league in a hurry. And stepping in for the Rays, Josh Low. And a strike in there. One down. Base is empty. Swing and a miss. No balls. Two strikes. Make it four strikeouts in a row. Just cruising along. That’s about as nasty of a splitter as you’ll come across, especially in terms of movement. I mean, that thing tumbles out of his hand and just drops off the table at the last moment. If he keeps it down, it’s just so tough to put wood on. Mangum the next to hit takes ball one. Two down, nobody on here in the bottom of the six. And delivers outside. Got the ball. Next offering in there for a strike and a count two and one swag and a popup foul out of play off to the right side. That’ll find the stands. Come on Tampa. Spoils that one and it remains two and two. And there’s the ball. Got a full count. Foul ball and it remains a full count. Eighth pitch of the bat coming up. Look out. And it hit him. He had two strikes on him and he hit him. So Tristan Gray Tristan Gray moved to first. Mango back in on a dive. That’s out to center field. Pah on his way over. Nabs it. And that is that. One left for Tampa, but they lead it three nothing. And welcome back to the ballpark at the plate. Estee Yuri Ruiz. The Dodgers in striking distance but have some work to do. Boog. It starts with the laid-off man. I need a good at bat out of him right here. Fouled off. He was late. Changing speeds has this lineup completely off balance in this one. We’ve seen a lot of miss time swings and it’s been a challenge for these hitters to get their rhythm right. This pitcher has done a good job of disrupting the hitters timing with a mix of pitches and changing speeds. You want to keep that front foot inconsistent for the batter. Their swings are hesitant and that’s exactly what you want on the mound. His understanding of the strike zone very impressive. That was a very close O2 fastball. I just don’t know how you take that. Inside the countdown two and two. Well, he’s back out there to begin the seventh. That surprise you at all, Chris? Yeah, a little bit. And it was a little rough sixth inning there, but his skippers got a lot of confidence in him. But trust me, they will keep a close eye on how he does in this one. Walls throws to first and they get the lead off hitter in the second. Right fielder Hernando. Here’s Tosscar Hernandez. He’s grounded out a couple of times. outside low and it’s one and0. So, the Dodgers are going to have to try and come from behind and try and get that offense going. Base is empty, one away here in the top half of inning number seven. A swing and a miss. And that’s strike one. It really looks like these hitters have been in between with their timing today. Good fast ball, excellent slider, but they’ve not been able to commit to one velocity and stay there. He swings and fouls one off swings through that one. It’s a strike out. Really love the pitch sequence right there. I’m telling you what, pitcher and catcher on the same page right now. Next to the dish is Freddy. That’s in there. It’s 0 and one. And that one wrapped foul. Let’s go on the ground right side. Sends it to first and the Dodgers are set down in order. Dodgers go down quietly. They trail it here. 3 nothing. Alex Via taking over on the mound. 50th time he’s come into a game this year. He’s been relied on out of the pin quite a bit. Now up for Tampa Bay, Taylor Walls. Leading up for the Ray, the shortstop, Taylor Walls. Via, a 6-1 lefty. He features a fourseam fast ball, a slider, and he works in a change up. Slice down the right side. 0 and2 now. The shorts stop takes the ball. Just misses the mark outside the zone and that’s awfully close. I don’t know how you take that. He’s seeing the ball out of the pitcher’s hand really well right now. text offering upstairs. He’s really tightening up his hitting zone with two strikes here. I love it. Hit in the air center field. Pahes makes the catch for the out. The catcher number 34, Matt. And now the catcher for the Rays, Matt Thice. Can’t forget the two-run shot he launched out of here in the fifth. Yeah, one of the biggest swings of the game, Boo, as he looks to make even more of an impact in this at bat right here. And he swings and misses at the initial offering. Activity in the bullpen for the Dodgers. Lake Trinan up and loosening in the pen. Number 86 also throwing. Next pitch is downstairs. That one missed. Two balls, one strike. Swinging a miss. Chased it out of the zone. There’s a certain point where you have to commit to what you think you see. And he guessed wrong right there. Nasty slider with just terrific bite at the end. And there’s the ball. And that’s too high. And it’s ball four. His ability to draw walks has been something that’s been part of his career since day one. Man at first with long gone and now the center fielder. That one inside there. That’s ball one. Always tough to turn two on a speedster like this. It’s even harder with him coming out of the left-handed batters box. We really need something hit hard on the ground that they can handle to turn too quickly. That one finds the corner and it’s one and one. Thice leads off first with one away. The 1-1 is fouled off. Swing and a miss. Struck him out. That’s the second out. Oh, that slider wasn’t even close to the strike zone and he got him to chase. That’s just a bad approach right there. Either he was looking for something else and got completely fooled or he was sitting all over the slider and just couldn’t resist the temptation. But man, really expanded right there and didn’t have a chance of making contact with that pitch. Diaz stands in here, leaves that one off the inside. Now a fly ball to right center. Hernandez settles underneath it, drops into the glove, and that is that. The Rays strand just the one, but they’re on top by a count of three to nothing. Welcome back. And a new arm on the mound to start the eighth. Edwin Usetta. Big swing and miss stuff right here. averaging more than one strike out per inning this season. So far, he’s been pretty electric. Here’s the center fielder, Andy Pah. The center fielder, Andy Pes, Tampa. First pitch misses. Tampa Bay’s bullpen with some action. Pete Fairbanks getting loose out there. Angler also getting ready. Two balls, no strikes to count. Struggled a little bit in this one. Couple of strikeouts earlier, but doing a much better job in this at bat to get ahead and find a good hitter’s count at 2 and 0. to the left side, but it is well fouled. Got to keep things airtight defensively right here. On your toes, ready to make a play. If you can get this to the ninth with a three-run lead, it should be a W. Way out front for strike two. Pitching has been pretty dominant in this one. But you got to be careful not working with too big a lead. They can get right back in this ball game if you’re not careful. Pitch misses there. Three and two now. swinging a popup. A randa and there’s one down. The left fielder number 23, Michael Conforto. The batter will be Michael Conforto. Here we go. That misses and that’s ball one. The Dodgers trailing by three and we’re in the top of the eighth. Next offering is in for a strike. Next offering is fouled back. And that’s outside. Two balls, two strikes. Honest. It’s a strike out. Two outs. Base is empty. And here comes Tommy Edmond. Edmond. That’s down and in. 10. that misses. Two balls in a strike. There’s a swing and a drive. Low drop step going back and out of here. That one felt good. It’s 3-1. Knew what pitch he wanted to hit. Spent on some other pitches in this at bat. Was very patient and it paid off. And the Rays manager making his way towards the mound now as he will make the move. Edwin Usetta is done. Two-run ball game as he heads for the dugout. And we’ll be back with a new pitcher. Now pitching. Mason Angler gets the call from the pen. And if you dig into his walk rate, his numbers are really impressive. He’s really filled up the strike zone this season. So these batters better be ready to swing the bats. Base is empty with two away. Dalton rushing steps to the plate for the Dodgers. And that’s through there for a strike and it’s 0 and one. Two outs. Just off the outside part of the plate. Hit in the air left field. Mangum brings it in for the third out. Dodgers claw back a bit, but this homer and this is now a 31 ball game. Back after this on the show. Back now. new pitcher on the mound as we roll into the bottom of the eighth. Number 86. And compared to a lot of other relievers, strikeouts have not been a big weapon for him this year. So, the defense should be active. And here’s the first base, Jonathan. He’s already homerred in this game. Get another one. That’s in for a strike. Well, that’s really the money spot down and away. If you can locate that consistently, it’s going to be real tough for hitters to square that up. That’s what you love to see relievers do coming out of that bullpen. Headed towards the corner. Conforto makes the play and there’s one down. Now batting third baseman and next will be the cleanup hitter, Junior Camro. Three strikeouts already. He’s 0 for three. And a swing and a miss. He’s had a tough day at the plate. Three strikeouts already. It’s hard not to think negative, but you got to find a way to somehow center up the baseball and put it in play. and Alio one tap foul at the plate. Let’s get it going up the middle. Got him on the offbalance throw and that is out number two. Now batting right fielder Josh Low. Josh Low next to hit for the Rays. 0 for three with two strikeouts and a fly out. And that is out of play. Two down to that one’s upstairs. Ball one. Here’s a high chopper and a foul ball. He was a little out front, but did a good job keeping the hands back long enough to foul that pitch off. One and two here. Just missed. just misses with that one. Good spot there, but didn’t get the strike at the knees and doesn’t seem too convinced by the call out there on the mound as he tries to get a better sense of the umpire strike zone. Two down, nobody on here. The bottom half of the eighth inning. Outside and that is ball four. One of the things about that two-out walk, the base runner over at first base is going to have a very aggressive secondary lead. So, a ball down the line or into the gap will produce a two out RBI. And those are the best. That is if you are the offensive side of it. Checks over to first back safely. Let’s go. And a popup on the left side of the infield. Edmond in position. He’s there. He’s got it. And that ends the inning. Back now. And on the mound, the closer Pete Fairbanks. I think closer has to be one of the toughest jobs in baseball and we see a pretty high turnover rate because of it. Every outing seems to be high pressure, this one included. We’ll see if he can wrap up the win and get himself a save. And at the plate for the Dodgers, Miguel Rojos, that’s a strike one. Just missed. Grounds one to short. Walls and they get the lead off man in the ninth. Those plays can be tricky. They’re routine, but that doesn’t mean it’s always going to be smooth. He delivered a good play right there. He’s two outs away. Here’s Mookie Betts. And a first pitch fast ball is in for a strike. Oh, this is just part for the course these days. Huge fast balls coming out of the bullpen. Next offering in there for a strike. That is strike two. Just amazing to me how many closers and backend relievers just throw absolute gas these days. I never would had a chance. Foul ball. It stays nothing and two. That wasn’t an easy pitch to hit. It’s much easier to do damage against mistakes, but that’s not what that pitch was. Ground ball up the middle. Now the throw to first on the run and he gets him. Nicely done. That play won’t be trending on social media later on, but it’s still important to execute it to perfection. This game is a lot harder than it looks, partner. So they’re down to their final out. Estee Yuri Ruiz steps to the plate for the Dodgers. 0 for three in this one. And that one inside and hit him. You just can’t afford to make these kind of mistakes this late in the ball game. You need to make the offense earn everything down the stretch. And that right there was just a freebie. Hernandez stands in now and watches strike one. That’s good pitch there. Really had some run and finished little up and end just on the edge. And that’s one of those if you swing at it, he had a broken bat as you jog back to the dugout. The Dodgers down to their final strike. The tying run at the plate. Knocks that one away. And we’ll do it again. field two and a swing and a miss and that is the ball game. Well, four games wasn’t too long of a losing streak, but they’re definitely happy to be back in the win column. Now you can turn things around, get on the right track and probably start a winning streak from here. And your final 3-1 for Chris Singleton and our entire crew. I’m John Shambi saying so long from Tampa Bay. Heat. Heat.
