Malik Beasley Could Be Coming Back To The Detroit Pistons? | Pistons Talk Podcast

Heat. [Music] Hey, Heat. [Music] [Music] Hey guys, what’s up? Welcome to Pistons Talk podcast. Hope you guys are having a great Friday night. In today’s episode, we have a couple of topics we’ll be discussing. Patrick Beverly on Malik Beasley. Pat Bev this week was talking about Malik Beasley. Actually ran into him over in Paris, France. If you guys have been following Malik Beasley uh this offseason, he’s been in Europe. So, we’ll be playing a clip from Pat Bev’s pod courtesy of him and kind of reacting to that clip. Chris Middleton and his next team odds. You’d be surprised to see where the Detroit Pistons are. If you guys remember, Pistons drafted Chris Middleton years ago. Uh, your boy was in high school when the Pistons still had Chris Middleton. And I’m 33, so it’s been a minute since we’ve talked Chris Middleton, Detroit Pistons. And we’ll end off the podcast with Isaiah Stewart and his offseason, what he’s doing, and why I think some fans just need to chill out, enjoy the nice weather. It’s not that deep. So, let’s get into the Patrick Beverly Amalik Beasley. Met with him in Paris, talked with them, and Beasley seemed that he was pretty confident that he was going to be on the roster. Now, you can take that, I think, two ways. you could take it. Maybe Blake Beasley believes that he could be on the Detroit Pistons this upcoming season. I think that’s one way you could take it. Another way you could take it is maybe Malik Beasley to sign with another NBA team. I I think for the Pistons standpoint and why you guys subscribe to this YouTube channel, you’re Pistons fans, I would like to assume is Pistons have some wiggle room. They still have a byanual exception um at their disposal. They have some veteran minimums and there’s two roster spots open and they haven’t been filled yet as of August 1 as we’re recording this uh podcast. So maybe Tjan Langden and the Detroit Pistons bring Bees back on a veterans minimum. Um you have Duncan Robinson on this roster. You have Caris Levert. Don’t really know rotational wise where Beasley would kind of fit into the pecking order. But you know I if he gets cleared and these allegations are just allegations, I wouldn’t be opposed to you know bringing Malik Beasley back on a veterans minimum. I I I really wouldn’t. Um I don’t really think it would hurt. I I know some fans are just really turned off by the allegations and the gambling, which happened when he was with the Milwaukee Bucks. I think if you look at the playoffs, maybe some people, you know, assumed that he was point shaving, wasn’t, you know, making the same type of shots in the regular season as he was in the playoffs. Like those are your guys’s assumptions. That’s what I’ve heard from you guys interacting with you guys on social media. But hey, wanted to bring it to your attention, talk about it for a few minutes with you guys. Um, so Beast feels like he’s uh going to be on a roster. Maybe the Pistons, maybe another NBA team. Who knows? We’re gonna have to wait and see. Um, I I’m just dying for uh preseason. It’s two months away, you guys. It’s October. Um, and so we get preseason basketball. So, we got another two months of uh just itching. I guess I’ll enjoy the rest of my summer like you guys. Wanted to transition over to Chris Middleton. Now, a lot of these Vegas odds come out during the summer. Next team odds. We discussed Cam Thomas a couple of days ago. Maybe it was last week if I do remember correctly. These days are just going by so fast. Um, and Cam Thomas was like the number I think that he had the best odds to be in the Detroit Pistons next because uh there’s like some RFA stuff that him and the Nets are still trying to iron out. Who knows? A lot of these RFAS haven’t signed. Like Kaminga uh rejected $40 million from the Warriors on a two-year deal. Uh Josh Giddy is still holding out for that 30 million. But I know I’m rambling a little bit. Chris Middleton. Let me circle on back. Apologize there. You guys had a lot of coffee before I started this podcast and I’m just like really jittery and hyper. So NBA Central posted this I believe yesterday it was if I do remember correctly and says the Phoenix Suns are favorites to be Chris Middleton’s next team per official. So you have the Phoenix Suns at a plus 300. The Detroit Pistons in second at a plus 600. LA Lakers at a plus 600. Tied with the Pistons for second. Uh the Miami Heat plus 800. Denver Nuggets plus 900. Los Angeles Clippers plus400. Milwaukee Bucks which is kind of hilarious. Uh plus,400. New York Knicks plus400. The San Antonio Spurs plus 1600. So I did want to discuss and talk about this for a couple of minutes with you guys. Right now he’s on the Washington Wizards. Now I don’t really know what’s going to happen in Washington. Uh they just traded for CJ McCullum. They got rid of Jordan P and Kyle Kosma. Um I’m kind of high on the Washington Wizards this year of, you know, being a surprise team in the East. Um I think Alexar is going to take that next step. I kind of like their core. I I like Bub Carrington. I I like Kobali. I I think they have some very young, intriguing pieces. As it pertains to Chris Middleton and some of these veterans on the roster, I’m not really entirely sure if they’re going to be there for the entire season. Um it could get to a point where maybe Washington’s not winning um as much as maybe these vets want them to and they could request a contract buyout. We just saw this with Marcus Smart. He got bought up by the Wizards and he signed with the Lakers. Now, it would be a full circle moment. Um, if the Detroit Pistons were um going to sign a guy like Chris Middleton, it really would. I mean, it’s a player you drafted in the second round showed a little bit of promise when he did get playing time um in Detroit from my memory from way back in the day because it was a long time ago. uh watching Chris Middleton. I mentioned at the top of the podcast I was in high school uh when he was playing with the Detroit Pistons, but he did show some potential. Um I wouldn’t be opposed to it. He’s a little bit older. He’s a vet. I honestly think, you know, you kind of look at the forward depth on this team. I mean, you you signed Caris Levert, you have Ron Holland, you have Sar Thompson. Um, I feel like you could even categorize Duncan Robinson because I feel like Duncan Robinson could play two, three, and some four on very small lineups, but I don’t really know if the Detroit Pistons are going to be a player for him if he does get a contract buyout from the Washington Wizards. But something to keep an eye on. You never really know what these Vegas has, but you know, more often than not, it’s just Vegas betterers. Um, just placing bets on what they think might happen. Um, if he does get a contract buyout, I don’t really know where Chris Middleton would like to go. It’d be hilarious if he went back to Milwaukee though after getting traded and then going back. Like that actually would be uh really damn funny if you do ask me. But it’s like it’s a summer topic right now, you guys. Um, dog days of offseason. There’s not too much to like really uh talk about with you guys, but I did want to discuss it and talk about it on the pod tonight. We’re going to wrap up the podcast. We’re going to be playing um some highlights actually, some summer highlights. So, I I know how people get this time of year when they see players in the gym practicing things that they feel like they shouldn’t be practicing. So Isaiah Stewart has been posting more workout videos over the past week and we’re going to be playing about 30 seconds of what he’s been working on so far. And I’m just going to give you guys my overall opinions on it because I see a lot of people online um that have very strong feelings about what he’s practicing and you know how summer highlights go. I mean we’ve done the Andre Drummond stuff for years, but this is what Steu’s working on. Enjoy. Okay, so it’s three-pointers. They get a defensive drill in there, which I love. So, I I think with summer workouts, a majority of you guys are like, you know, it’s an empty gym. NBA players can make jump shots in an empty gym. And I tend to agree with you there. But this is what I’ll say. just because that they’re practicing, you know, well, we we’ll use three-pointers for Stu. Steu has shown the ability to actually hit three-point shots, but that’s in his bag. That’s in his arsenal. We didn’t see it this year because JB had him playing back up five and he wanted him to play more of a traditional center role. But there were some times this year where, you know, the defense did sag offense, too, and he was letting it fly. And I I think I mentioned it like I wouldn’t mind him shooting one or two threes a game like you know low volume but we know he’s capable of you know hitting a pretty decent clip. Believe he shot 37 or 38% um during the Monty William year and you know it was something like we we know he has the ability to stretch the defenses out and hit those shots. I have no problem with Isaiah Stewart posting himself working on his three-point shot. I I feel like all these bigs practice uh these shots. I know Omari Sangopa had mentioned it when Jaylen the Jaylen Durn stuff came out a couple of weeks ago saying all the bigs practice it um after they’re done. I mean, you got Paul Reed, Jaylen Dur, Isaiah Stewart, they all work on the three-point shot, you know, after practice this to get some shots up. So, I have no issue with Isaiah Stewart posting three-point shots because we know he’s capable of shooting. I think this where it differs from Andre Drummond was Andre Drummond never shot a good percentage from three. He hit like maybe five lucky buzzer beaters in his time here in Detroit, but I mean it wasn’t something that was actually consistent where with Sue at least, we have a little bit more tape. We’ve seen it in games of him practicing and making three-point shots. Now, the other thing I do want to touch on is this, because I see people get really pissed off with these videos. Just because they don’t post what you want them to work on, doesn’t mean they’re not working on it. I see a bunch of people saying he should be working on his post moves. He should be working on a floater. He should be working on, you know, a good 12 to 15 foot mid-range shot. I guarantee you, especially with Isaiah Stewart, because he’s one of the hardest working players on this team, you guys, I guarantee you he’s working on it. He’s just not posting it. All these guys are in the gym this time of year. They’re all working on their game. They’re all working on their crap. They’re doing probably two, three workouts a day just to get ready for this upcoming season. Uh, I think you guys have to remember like, you know, just because they’re posting, you know, a 30 second highlight doesn’t mean they’re not working on what maybe you want them to work on. Um, it was one of the hardest working players on this team, so I’m not going to, you know, question his dedication to, you know, working out or trying to get better at a certain area of his game. I said my piece on it. I’m I’m not going to go too much in depth. Uh, I just see a lot of angry Pistons fans this time of year and comparing it to Andre Drummond when I think it’s completely different because we know Stu can actually make a three-point shot. It’s not luck. Um, and I I like the defensive drills. I I like the the mobility there, what he’s doing there. I think, you know, I don’t think we’ve had a prospect I can’t even call Steu a prospect. We got to call him, you know, a legit NBA player now. We haven’t had a Piston player post defensive highlights. Like, when’s the last time we’ve had a Pistons player post defensive highlight summer league videos or s summer videos? Not summer league, excuse me. I I can’t really remember off the top of my head. I’m sure maybe there’s uh, you know, a random Piston player that might have, but this time of year, a lot of these guys are doing these summer videos. I I’ve seen a lot of um rookies, they’re getting into these uh league runs like um I’m trying to think of the NBA trainer um the guard whisperer. I mean he he’s got a bunch of vets. He’s got some younger guys doing these kind of like guess you could call them remy runs or um what’s the other one? I can’t remember. Maybe you guys can help me remember. They come out every summer. I cannot remember the the coach’s name. Rico Hines. Oh, there we go. Roins. I’m so proud of myself. I remember that. Um, we’re gonna start getting those. We’re going to start getting Drew Lee. We’re going to start getting um maybe some Olympic stuff coming up in August. So, um, that’s type basketball content we’ll probably be discussing on the podcast. is warning you guys now with no preseason basketball um until I believe October 6th. So, the schedule should be getting released as of right now. Um we only know two preseason games. They’re both away games. Um one’s at Memphis and then I believe the other one is at Cleveland. So, we we should be getting some home games uh with the Pistons. Don’t really know if you guys care about that, but hey, just talked about it for 30 seconds, but hope you guys did enjoy tonight’s episode and have a great rest of your weekend. Uh we will be back tomorrow giving you guys podcast on Saturday and Sunday. They’re not going to be the long form podcast, probably like this, you know, good 17 to 20 minutes just to give you guys your your fill a little bit. And uh I’d like to do multiple podcasts a week if I can find the topics. If I if I can’t find the topics, um, just understand that it’s it’s it’s offseason, you guys. It’s really hard to find uh content to talk about for uh 20 minutes a day uh for you guys. But as always, take care, stay safe, and as always, go Pistons. Peace. [Music] Ooh. Uh-huh. [Music]

Today I reacted to Patrick Beverly’s Podcast discussing Malik Beasley possibly coming back to the Detroit Pistons and much more.
