Royals vs. Blue Jays Game Highlights (8/1/25) | MLB Highlights
It’s a very tough right-hander. Kevin’s got that ERA back. Under four at 382 in his 21 starts. Back-to- back solid starts after the All-Star break. He’s been on quite a roll, allowing just one run in seven innings to the Yankees and then six scoreless innings at Kame Park in Detroit. The O2 from Gossman and a fast ball right there for strike three called. India never took the bat off his shoulder. So one down and now Bobby Wit Jr. line drive to left field and a sliding catch made by Joey Lopero. Close your eyes and turn your head and the ball went in his glove. What a play. He comes with a one-two pitch again and it’s a fast ball at the knees called strike three in a one two three top of the first for Kevin Gosman. We go to the bottom of the first in Toronto and now Michael Waka is on the mound. His 22nd start of the season. He enters with a 353 ERA in 117 in a third innings. Here’s the two- two fast ball swung on and miss. Strike three. And there are two down. Here’s a guy who had no worries about being traded on deadline day. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. And this one is hit to left field and it is not coming back. A screaming line drive of a home run for Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and it is one to nothing Blue Jays. Well, there are times when home runs are quote no doubters and this one fits that category. Gets a sinker from Waka and there was no question about this one. Middle in down in the zone and he just dropped the barrel head on it. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and the Blue Jays lead one- nothing in the first. Mike El Garcia leads off the top of the second inning. Here’s the pitch and Garcia breaks his bat, rolls it softly up the middle. Bette scoops it up behind second, stumbles, no throw to first and Garcia is safe. Infield hit for Mikel Garcia. That’s his 120th hit of the season. That is now just one behind Vladimir Guerrero Jr. who now has 121. Swing and a miss on a fast ball down and Gosman gets Perez for out number one. And that brings up Mike Ystreky. Now, this is Mike Estrek’s seventh major league season. All of them have been with the Giants until today. The Royals acquired Yaz in a trade very close to the deadline just yesterday. That’s a strike and Mike is going to be safe. And so that is Mike Garcia’s 20th stolen base of the season. He puts himself in scoring position with one out for Mike Ystreky. The pitch, Ystreky hits it high in the air deep to right field. Luks is back toward the track at the fence. Looks up. It’s gone into the Royals bullpen. Welcome to the Royals. Mike Yremsky. His first at bat in a Royals uniform. Puts his new team in front. Less than 24 hours ago. Mike Stremsky was in New York with the Giants on an off day playing golf. Found out that he was getting traded as he was finishing up his round. Now here he is in a different country hitting a two-run homer. Now right after Mike his strepy gave him the lead. Michael Walka retires the Blue Jays in order. No runs, no hits, no errors. Nobody left on base. We go to the third in Toronto. Royals two, Blue Jays one. Kyle Isbel steps up to the plate, left-handed hitter against Gosman. The one-1 hard hit ground ball. Fair down the line, bounces off the sidewall back into shallow right field. You’ve got a leadoff single here in the third inning to roll it back over and get it to Jonathan India. Here’s the two- two hard hit ball into the alley right center field. Far and Luke’s going after it. Far reaches out and dives. He can’t get there. Isbel’s already around second. He gets the stop sign at third and India is in with a double. There’s nobody out. Runners at second and third for Bobby Wit Jr. in the third inning. Right man, right spot. Bobby pounds it into the corner. It straightens out. Gone for a three-run home run into the second deck. A threerun shot by Bobby White Jr. and it puts the Royals up 5 to one in the third inning. Last of the third inning in downtown Toronto. Well, after giving up that homer and double in the first inning, Michael Walka has retired seven straight and the Royals have a 5 to1 lead as we go to the fourth. Two out space is empty. 5-1 Royals. Adam Frasier up. Gossman’s 02 pitch. Check swing. Did he go? He did. Gosman’s fifth of the start in a scoreless top of the fourth. 5-1 Royals. Let’s go to the bottom of the fourth inning. Michael Walker still on the mound. He’s retired the last seven hitters he’s faced after giving up a homer to Guerrero back in the first and then a double to Bobette. He’s got one of the lowest hard hit rates in baseball. The O2 that’s lifted high in the air to left center field. Frasier moving in though. He makes the call for it and the catch for out number one. Eight in a row retired by Walka. Three straight on fly balls to Frasier and left. Here’s Bo Bashette who had a double his first time up. One out base is empty and the 02 to Bo. Hit on a line over Bobby Whit Jr. at short sinking down in left field. A base hit. Got the first hit since Bashette last got a knock. That was back in the first inning. Addison Barger with one out. He skies it into left field again. Frasier moving in on it. He reaches up and makes the one-handed grab overhead for the second out of the inning. It brings up Ty France. Here’s the one up on the ground left side with Junior backhands it short, hops it over to first and it’s scooped out in time for the final out of the inning. Six to three and Bobby Wit Jr. a tough throw from the hole. Ends the inning in the fourth. Michael Waka faces Dalton Vial. The Royals have a 5 to1 lead over the Blue Jays. The pitch foul tipped and Salv Smith. That’s strike three. Great change up from Waka. His second strike out of the night. And there’s one away. First pitch to Ernie Clement. He rolls it softly towards shortstop right at Bobby Whit Jr. He was positioned well. He scoops and throws it onto first. Two outs. So a quick two up and two down for Michael Walka. He faces the number nine hitter Tyler Heinaman. Now the two-2 change up flailed out and miss. Strike three. Third strike out overall. Five innings of one-run ball for Michael Walka. We go to the six. And the Royals, well, they’ve gotten a really good outing so far from Michael Walker, who returns to the mound here in the home half of the sixth against the top of the lineup. Soft ground ball over the left side of the mound. Whit scoops it up, throws from next to the bag at second, and it’s in time to first base for the first out. It brings up Joey Lopero. Here’s the O2 swing and a miss. That’s number four for Walka. And with a four-run lead, it turns it over to Vladimir Guerrero Jr. who’s one for two. The two-1 tip high in the air left center field and deep. Isbel going back on the track and he makes the catch in front of the high wall out there for the final out of the inning. So, how about that? Michael Walker with another three up, three down inning and the Royals still lead it 5 to one. Michael Walker has retired 11 straight and kept the Royals in front for the first time since May. Michael Walka goes seven innings in a start and the Royals have a five to one lead over the Blue Jays. The Royals a five to one top eight. Tommy Nance is into the game. Bobby Wit Jr. leading off in foul territory from third. Two outs top of the eighth and Nance’s two-2 pitch. Bounced and a diving stop by Guerrero. Dives to the bag in time. A terrific play by Vlatty to go get it. and maybe an even better play to dive to the bag just ahead of Garcia who’s got very good speed. We go to the bottom of the eighth inning in Toronto. Michael Waka is back on the mound with the Royals in front 5 to one against the Blue Jays. Wonka has thrown just 76 pitches tonight through seven innings of one run, three hit baseball. The count’s full on the lefty Varo. Three balls, two strikes. Change up in there called strike three. Tumbled over the outer half. Baro’s down looking. Five Ks for Waka. He’s cruising. He’s retired. 12 in a row. Runner on first, one gone. Bottom eight, Royals up 5 to one. Here’s the pitch. Change up. Poke in the air. Straightaway right field. Mikey Estrenky’s right there. He makes the catch. And now there are two outs. And now Walk is at 99 pitches. So he’s about to throw his season high 100th. And this is the most pitches he’s had to throw in an inning. So his most taxing. It could be his final. The one-two bisted in the air left center field. Frasier’s into the gap from left. Makes the catch and the inning is over. Eight dominant innings from Michael Walka. He allows just one run on only four hits and he breezed through the Blue Jays offense for the latter seven innings. So we go to the ninth. The Royals five and the Blue Jays won. And the fourth pitcher of the night for the Blue Jays, a guy who has been rock solid, Joe, since he came back from the Miners, left-hander Mason Flu Hardy. Salvador Perez leads off the pitch. Perez rips it high in the air down the left field line, hooking toward the corner and gone. Just over the fence in the left field corner, a solo shot for Shelby and it’s now six to one in the top of the ninth inning. A one out single. That brings up Adam Frasier who’s 0 for three tonight. A 3-2 to Frasier. Basketball hit in the air deep down the right field line toward the corner. Luke’s looks up. It’s out of here. A two-run homer for Adam Frasier. The Royals add on in the top of the ninth inning. It’s now 8 to one here in Canada. And the new pitcher is Braden Fischer. Pass Quentino walks and that loads the bases for Mike Garcia. Here’s the pitch. Garcia laces it into left center field. That’s down for a base hit. Isbell scores. Wit stops at third. Pass Quintino’s to second. Mike Kell Garcia has an RBI single. It’s nine to one in the top of the ninth. New pitcher on the mound. Right-hander Thomas Hatch at long last makes his Royals debut. Two gone. Well, Fido moves to third. Archer waiting in the lefty box trying to snap an 0 for three day as Hatch sets and delivers a 3-2. Swinging a deep line drive right field hooking to the fence. That ball’s gone. They make it nine to three on Barger’s blast. Base is clear now for Ty France. Hatch delivers. Swung on and miss. Strike three. And the ball game is over. The Royals make a strong statement. They beat down the Blue Jays nine-3.

Who is this another flip this happen? Are the real Blue Jays fans here they agree?โค
The Kansas City Royals are 55-55๐ตโช๏ธ๐
If there's one stat you can look to to explain if the Jays blow it this Season, it's how many Homers they give up (144ish on the Season now)
How do you lose to a team like KC smh not good day for Toronto teams oh just win tomorrow oh well at least Yankees lost.
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16
The Yankees lost.
Warning to the Blue Jays. Boston and New York are only a few games behind. Take every game seriously, or you could end up in 3rd place . Play every game like it's a playoff game. The Yankees collapsed and blew an 8 game lead. Don't do the same thing after they left the door to the AL East open.
๐ฎ
The way the Yankees lost tonight in the 9th will make you happy as a jays fan
Go royals
Let's Go!! Royals!! ๐๐
Giants fan. I want to wish Yaz the very best of success. He will be missed by us Giants fans.
take care of yaz ๐ฅฒ๐ฅฒ๐ฅฒ
Royals the hottest team in baseball rn๐ฅ๐ฅ letโs keep it up!
Mikelson Garcia is on ๐ฅ
Please waive DV
They jays did little to nothing to fix the bullpen issue. Schneider keeps using fluharty or fisher either to blow leads or ruin any chance to come back. not a single 6 to 9 pitcher can get on the mound without getting in trouble. Hoffman Is a liability 60% of the times. Not a single young arm starter. If the offensive don't step and make up for the horrible bullpen jays can kiss the lead goodbye by Next week.
Definitely not one of the Jays' better games. Hope they aren't getting too comfortable on their division lead. They could lose it pretty fast. LET'S GO BLUE JAYS!!!๐
Jays just have not looked scrappy at the dish the last few series like they had been for a bit. Lost the confidence and focus. Time to lock in a bit.
Thank you Lord for giving us ALL the talents and abilities to perform for your Glory. Amen.
I could have turned that off but I like the pain
Heโs gonna start hitting like his grandfather now. Change of scenery guy.
Not only are the Boo Jays losing, they are loosing BIG! ๐ข
Let's go Royals!!!!!
Wacha going 8 innings what an outing๐ฅ
Spent most of the highlight video wondering why the announcers were saying Walker's name with such an odd Australian accent.
This Was Awful SMH.
And the true Jays come out to play.
Yastrzemski hitting a homerun against his former teammate with both being in different uniforms was amazing.
Him, grichuk, Frazier and India bring the royals back to life.
bad game for Gausman
Jays management: You let the Yanks get Bednar AND Doval besides when you need relievers as bad as anyone???? Wow. Just wow.
The Jays chemistry is not the same without Springer. He brings the hustle.
Usless Bluejays
Our pitching and clutch hitting has been our success and demise this season
The Toronto Blue Jays are showing their true colours now. Losing 5 of their last 6 games. This team is not a playoff team. Them being at the top of AL East is just a fluke, a glitch in the matrix that will fix itself in no time.
Brutal.
At the moment when the Jays lose; they lose big.
Yikes ๐ฌ๐ณ there is no team I dislike more than the Jay's
Varsho strikeout machine is back!
Jays should have gotten rid of this loser while they could for anything before the deadline.
That crazy dive by Guerrero!
honestly good to see Varshy back – hopefully we get a vintage Max game tomorrow on the mound
George Springer needs to come back.. very soon!
