So, could the San Diego Padres’s be trading away Dylan CE to the Houston Astros this 2025 MLB trade deadline? So, here on the screen is a tweet from Foul Territory on X, which says, “Dylan ceases to the Astros will probably happen,” says Jim Bowen, GM. So, leading up to the tomorrow’s 2025 MLB trade deadline, there actually has been a ton of activity today. Dylan sees is a bit of a wild card to me because are the Padres’s going to trade him? Yes or no? I guess only time will tell. So the Padres’s of course are still in the hunts this season. Like they are one of the teams that I could see making the playoffs going on a bit of a run and potentially being a championship team. Like they’re 60 and 49. So trading away Dylan CE doesn’t make the most sense from just a competitive standpoint, but you understand why they would do it. He’s an expiring contract. The Padres are ran a little bit differently than some other teams. More of a smaller market um operation there. So, if they’re able to sort of capitalize on his value being pretty high, getting back some solid prospects in return, this could be a good move for them. But also too, Dylan’s having a terrible season this year. Uh 0.5 war, three wins, 10 losses, an RA of 4.79. So, not great there in 22 games played. 153 strikeouts and 118 innings. So, uh the strikeout pitch is still there, but he has a whiff of 1.335. So not pretty for Dylan CE who’s 29 years old. But if he wants to go to a team, you know, maybe a contending team out there wants to buy Dylan CE for the remainder of the year as a pure rental, he can kind of throw some heat towards the end of the rotation and maybe come playoff time if he if he performs poorly, he can get moved to the bullpen and be an option that way. So I think Dylan Cece at this point is going to be treated as a rental by the Padres’s who really can’t afford to lose him for nothing when it’s all said and done. For the Astros, it actually wouldn’t be a terrible idea for them to be aggressive and make a move of this magnitude. The Astros are winning their division at a record of 62 wins and 47 losses. So, all signs point towards the Astros being the best team in the AL West when it’s all said and done. And if they want to, you know, make their team even better and separate themselves even further from the Mariners and the Rangers, this is not a terrible idea. So, I think Dylan’s going to this team in Houston does make some sense. Uh the rotation here is pretty solid, but I can see the Astros being buyers at this year’s deadline. And who knows, maybe that uh Dylan CE could sign a long-term extension there after the year’s over. Maybe he performs better. Lots of possibilities here, but according to Jim Bowen on X, Dylan CE to the Astros will probably happen.
